NBA Rumors: Sixers-Thunder-Grizzlies Blockbuster Trade Would Send Ben Simmons To Memphis

Posted: 07 Dec 2021 04:55 PM PST

Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons is one of the players who are expected to be moved before the 2022 NBA trade deadline. Despite strong efforts from the Sixers to convince him to stay, the former No. 1 pick looked determined to leave the City of Brotherly Love. As of now, the Sixers are active on the trade market, finding their disgruntled superstar a new home.

In any potential deal involving Simmons, the Sixers are hoping to acquire a young All-Star who would complement the face of the franchise, Joel Embiid, on the court.

Ben Simmons To Memphis Grizzlies

One of the dark-horse trade destinations for Simmons is the Memphis Grizzlies. In a recent article, Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report suggested a three-way blockbuster trade idea that would enable the Grizzlies to pair Ja Morant with Simmons before the 2022 NBA trade deadline,

In the proposed trade scenario, the Grizzlies would get Simmons and a 2025 second-round pick, the Sixers would receive Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Dillon Brooks, while the Thunder would land Tyrese Maxey, Steven Adams, Ziaire Williams, a 2022 first-round pick, a 2024 first-round pick, and a 2026 first-round pick.

Grizzlies Form 'Next-Gen Big Three' With Ben Simmons

As of now, the Grizzlies haven't shown a strong indication that they are planning to trade for Simmons. However, Hughes believes that the proposed three-way deal is worth exploring for the Grizzlies as it would allow them to create the "next-gen Big Three" with Simmons, Morant, and Jaren Jackson Jr.

"Simmons would provide defensive punch for a Grizzlies D that has ranked near the bottom of the league all season—and still does, despite holding the Thunder to 79 points during Thursday's historic thrashing," Hughes wrote. "Ja Morant would run the show, pairing with Jaren Jackson Jr. (who'll space the floor better than any center with whom Simmons has ever played), while Simmons guards across the positional spectrum, sneaks in a few minutes as a small-ball 5 and enjoys the relative anonymity of a mostly overlooked NBA market."

Ben Simmons Boosts Grizzlies On Both Ends

Simmons would undeniably be an incredible addition to the Grizzlies. He may have gone through plenty of ups and downs in the past years, but he remains a solid two-way contributor on the court. His potential arrival in Memphis is expected to ease the loads on Morant's shoulders on the offensive end and improve the Grizzliers' performance on the defensive end.

Simmons would give the Grizzlies a very reliable scorer behind Morant, a great playmaker, a decent rebounder, and an elite defender. Last season, he averaged 14.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 6.9 assists, and 1.6 steals while shooting 55.7 percent from the field, per ESPN.

Does The Trade Make Sense For Sixers & Thunder?

The proposed three-way trade would also make sense for the Sixers. Though it would also cost them a young and promising talent in Maxey, the suggested deal would allow them to pair Embiid with another All-Star in Gilgeous-Alexander. The successful acquisition of SGA would ease the departure of Simmons.

Gilgeous-Alexander may not be an elite defender, but he's a very reliable scorer and a decent playmaker. With his ability to space the floor, he would nicely fit alongside Embiid on the court.

Meanwhile, the hypothetical three-way blockbuster would only be worth exploring for the Thunder if they don't think that Gilgeous-Alexander is the player that would lead them back to title contention in the post-Russell Westbrook era. In exchange for SGA, the Thunder would be acquiring two talented prospects that they could develop in Maxey and Williams and add three more future first-round picks to their collection of draft assets.

Salma Hayek Signs Deal to Star in Multiple MCU Films

Posted: 07 Dec 2021 04:44 PM PST

Salma Hayek, who was recently featured in the newest Marvel film, Eternals, just confirmed that she will soon be seen in additional films from the film giant.

During a November 3 interview on the Smallzy's Celebrity Talk podcast, the 55-year-old actress revealed she signed a deal to star in multiple Marvel films.

"I did sign multiple movie deals!" she shared, according to a report from IGN. "It was kind of fun being part of this... secret society that you have to protect so fearlessly!"

Ajak In 'Eternals'

In Eternals, which was released on October 18, 2021, Hayek starred as Ajak, alongside a number of other well-know actors and actresses, including Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Harish Patel, Kit Harington, and Angelina Jolie. However, as those who have seen the film well know (and don't read beyond if you don't want a major spoiler), her character is largely seen in flashbacks as she dies fairly early on in the movie.

As IGN explained to readers, Hayek's character was betrayed by Madden's character, Ikaris, and ultimately killed by Kro, who was voiced by Bill Skarsgård and known as the leader of the Deviants.

Salma Hayek's MCU Deal

Although Hayek's return to the Marvel Universe has been confirmed, a number of other things have not, including how the film giant will incorporate he deceased character into future movies, and whether or not that deal includes a role in Eternals 2.

Either way, it seems that Hayek's character, if she continues to play the same one, which has not been confirmed, would only be able to be featured in either flashbacks or prequels.

It was also not revealed how many films were included in Hayek's deal.

'Eternals' Was A Box Office Hit

IGN went on to point out that when it comes to MCU, both Captain Marvel and Captain America: The First Avenger take place during different time frames from that of Eternals. So, it is certainly a possibility that Hayek's character will be featured in a film in a different stage of her life.

While it is hard to say what the future holds for Hayek and Marvel, Eternals was a big hit for the comic universe, bringing in a whopping $71 million on its opening weekend at the box office.

Poor Rotten Tomatoes Rating

As Eternals continues to bring in earnings for MCU, there is also word that it didn't perform all that well with those that saw it. In fact, as IGN explained, the film actually brought in less than expected and is the lowest-rated MCU movie with a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 47 percent.

That said, with the addition of Marvel's Black Knight, the Eternals movie has created a number of possibilities for future films to be added to the world of MCU.

'RHONJ' Star Melissa Gorga Pulls Husband Joe Off Stage Amid Comedy Set

Posted: 07 Dec 2021 04:35 PM PST

Joe Gorga reportedly bombed so badly during a comedy show earlier this month that his wife, Real Housewives of New Jersey star Melissa Gorga had to pull him off stage.

In footage shared by TMZ and detailed by Page Six, Joe was seen striking out with his joke before cursing at the crowd at Long Island's Governor's Comedy Club.

As fans may know, Joe has been making a name for himself as a comic in recent months with numerous gigs around the country.

Not His Typical Comedy Show

After the footage was made public, and showcased Melissa grabbing the mic from Joe before leading him off stage, Joe shared a statement, via his tour manager with Page Six.

"This was not my typical show," he explained. "As I share my many life lessons in my stand up routine, now I can add this one – don't mix alcohol with Sudafed."

"This was not a common occurrence for me – I wasn't feeling well and didn't want to let my fans down," his statement continued.

Mixed Meds With Alcohol

"I had been taking Sudafed and had a couple of scotches before I went on stage, as I normally do. Unfortunately my body did not react well to the mix," he explained.

According to Joe, he doesn't "often take cold medicine" and Melissa had not seen him "like this" before, which is why the longtime reality star intervened and got him off stage.

"I have directly responded to my fans who were there and reached out to me. I started my comedy tour to share my stories and to make people laugh," his statement went on.

Encouraging Audience

"As I continue my tour, I look forward to providing people with the authentic, fun, and raw Joe Gorga they deserve," he added.

As club-goers saw at the comedy show, Joe attempted to tell a joke about his friend in the midst of the set. However, after it failed to land, the audience began to suspect that something was off with Joe. Still, they seemed to be fairly understanding of the snafu and actually encouraged him as he struggled.

"Are you guys ready?" he asked at one point.

Joe is Typically a Hoot

"I don't know what they gave you backstage, babe, but I got a feeling…," Melissa was heard saying as she prevented Joe from continuing to drink on stage.

"I swear to you, usually he cracks us up, he has a routine that makes us all laugh in tears every night — that I promise you," she assured the audience.

After insisting to the audience that her husband was funny, Melissa took him off stage as the audience cheered him on and gave a laugh.

NBA Rumors: LA Lakers Could Acquire TJ Warren For Talen Horton-Tucker, Kendrick Nunn & Malik Monk

Posted: 07 Dec 2021 04:30 PM PST

The Los Angeles Lakers entered the 2021-22 NBA season with the goal of fully dominating the Western Conference and winning the NBA championship title. Unfortunately, as of now, the Lakers are yet to live up to expectations from a legitimate title contender. Despite having the "Big Three" of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook, they still struggle to consistently win games.

So far, the Lakers have lost six of their last 10 games, sitting in the No. 7 spot in the Western Conference with a 12-12 record.

Lakers-Pacers Trade Sends TJ Warren To Los Angeles

The Lakers still have plenty of time to improve their chemistry but if they want to have a realistic chance of reclaiming their throne, some people believe that they should strongly consider upgrading their current roster. In a recent article, Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report created a list of trades that could fix some of the struggling contenders in the league.

For the Purple and Gold, it's the hypothetical deal that would send Talen Horton-Tucker, Kendrick Nunn, and Malik Monk to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for TJ Warren and Justin Holiday.

Lakers Get Win-Now Help

The proposed trade deal would be worth exploring for the Lakers, especially now that they obviously need more help on both ends of the floor. As much as they want to keep Horton-Tucker, they are better off trading him for win-now help if they are serious about capturing another Larry O'Brien Trophy in the LeBron era.

"Warren could push Russell Westbrook for third-scorer duties while making L.A.'s defense more reliable and versatile on the wings," Buckley wrote. "The latter also applies to Justin Holiday, who'd be an asset for his on-ball defense and a closer if his three-point shot perks up (35.7 percent this season, but 39.2 the past two)."

TJ Warren A Huge Gamble For LA Lakers

Warren would undeniably be an incredible target for the Lakers. When he's 100 percent healthy, he would give the Lakers a solid two-way contributor who could join James, Davis, and Westbrook in the starting lineup However, bringing Warren to Los Angeles would also come with a risk.

As of now, Warren is yet to play a single game in the 2021-22 NBA season as he's still recovering from the left foot fracture he acquired last year. According to Slam, Warren may not be able to see court action until 2022.

Pacers Prepare For Rebuild

The suggested would also make a lot of sense for the Pacers, especially with recent reports indicating that they are planning to undergo another rebuild. By sending an injured player and an aging guard to Los Angeles, the Pacers would be acquiring three players who could be part of their long-term future.

"If the Pacers wind up playing the long game, they could be drawn to the 26-and-under trio of Horton-Tucker, Kendrick Nunn and Malik Monk," Buckley wrote. "Horton-Tucker would be the crown jewel, given his intriguing blend of offensive creativity and defensive malleability. Nunn and Monk are natural scorers, and the Pacers need more bucket-getters."

Four Times Alexandra Daddario Dropped Our Jaws On The Red Carpet This Year

Posted: 07 Dec 2021 02:04 PM PST

After years of hard work, from filming to post-production, the actor's ultimate reward comes from recognition awards. While actors look forward to hearing their names on the podium, fans care more about the fashion! The Red Carpet (blue, black, or any thematic color) often has more buzz than the main event. Alexandra Daddario is one actress who turns heads every time on the Red Carpet. No, it's not only her striking blue eyes that enthrall us, and it's the fact that she knows what to wear to each event – from flirty and fun to elegant and regal. Here are four times she nailed the theme on the Red Carpet this year.

A Shiny Star In Dolce & Gabbana

In July, the Champagne sequin cocktail Dolce & Gabbana dress Daddario wore to The White Lotus premiere was classy. The series details the life of vacationers in an idyllic resort. Wearing a cocktail dress with the same color stilettos fit the movie theme.

She finished the look with a side-swept shoulder-length hairstyle and bright red lipstick. Alex knew not to wear any jewelry, thereby keeping our attention on the sequin number. The lip stain was the perfect hue to highlight her cool-toned dress.

A Beauty In Dior

In October, the Baywatch actress attended Elle's Women In Hollywood event wearing a Dior maxi dress. The seemingly understated gown had earth-toned embroidery, making Daddario look "down-to-earth." Her 20 million-plus Instagram followers can attest to the integrity of that imagery.

Alex wore minimal nude makeup and left her natural hair in a center parting. Once again, she's donning simple jewelry you can almost miss. Rumor has it that Alex wore her engagement ring to this event.

Country Fresh In Plaid

In November, Daddario channeled her inner girl power on the InStyle Awards' Black Carpet. The White Lotus actress made a statement in a full tomato red outfit with a simple white shirt, and she wore a plaid two-piece jumpsuit and blazer. Alex looked in the mirror and thought not enough red because she completed the look with a red tote and pointed stilettos. The movie star wore her natural hair in a side-part wet curl and topped up with bright red lipstick.

Flirty In Yellow Frills

Alex attended the GQ event in November wearing a Zuhair Morado mini-dress. The yellow lace number had three tiers stopping slightly above her knees. The top of the dress had a corset bodice white off-shoulder frills showing ample cleavage. Daddario wore her natural hair in a center part wavy bob about 12 inches long. She deviated from her signature bright red for a subtle rose lipstick shade.

Anna Kendrick's 'Mr. Right' Gets New Love On Netflix

Posted: 07 Dec 2021 01:48 PM PST

Anna Kendrick is undoubtedly talented and she has an impressive movie repertoire but not all of them were hits.

One movie, in particular, was a huge flop and got bad reviews from critics. But, thanks to Netflix, viewers are giving it a second chance. This time, people are realizing that it may not be so bad at all!

Scroll down to see Kendrick's flop movie that's been getting love on Netflix.

'Mr. Right' Is Now On Netflix

Originally shown in theaters in 2015, Mr. Right stars Anna Kendrick as Martha - an unlucky-in-love woman who chances upon the seemingly perfect Francis, played by Sam Rockwell from Charlie's Angels and Vice.

While the two instantly hit it off, "Mr. Right" starts showing red flags and is later revealed to be a skilled hitman.

Martha then finds herself caught in a complicated situation but also discovers a few savage skills of her own.

Why The Movie Flopped

While the film offered an interesting storyline, it didn't do well at the box office, earning only $830,374 (all-time worldwide) in total, and only $34,694 domestically, while having a budget of around $7.5 million.

The critics gave it mixed reviews but praised both Kendrick and Rockwell for working well together. However, it ranked low, with a 44% rating and 56% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Some also put blame on screenwriter Max Landis, who was accused of sexual abuse by multiple women. While the accusations surfaced after the movie was released, Landis has allegedly had a bad rep for years.

"It's Absolute Chaos"

In an interview with Good Morning America, Kendrick shared what attracted her to the script.

"I thought, I love this girl," Anna said. "She is a psycho. She's an absolute psycho from page one and then Sam puts a gun in her hand and it's absolute chaos."

While the movie may have flopped before, it is currently getting some steam after being listed on Netflix. Many viewers are revisiting the film and giving it a second chance. It has developed a small cult following and now being branded as an "underrated classic".

Watch the trailer below:

Finding Mr. Right in 'Love Life'

At this time, Kendrick's quest to find "Mr. Right" has ended, at least in her latest TV project Love Life.

Unlike the not-so-popular 2015 film Mr. Right, the HBO Max series was a major success. The anthology series features a different lead character each season, who navigate around the often complicated world of dating.

Aside from starring in the first season as Darby, Kendrick is also an executive producer. There is no confirmation of a third season yet but if things go well, Love Life season 3 could be available late in 2022.

January Jones Jumps On Celebrity Trend With Recycled Versace Dress

Posted: 07 Dec 2021 01:44 PM PST

Fashion icons over the years never seem to agree on one point, repeating an outfit! While some find the idea preposterous, others like Cate Blanchett embrace it wholeheartedly. What's the real harm in recycling an outfit?

With the number of events celebrities attend yearly, you'd expect that they get a free pass to recycle as often as they want. Especially when they look stunning on the red carpet, seeing them re-rock outfits is nostalgic. Thankfully, some of our favorites don't mind recycling iconic looks, and January Jones jumped on the trend.

Keep scrolling to see the iconic dress January chose to re-wear.

The Iconic 13 Going On 30 Versace Dress

Is there anything Versace that's basic? The fashion house didn't become a household name by being mediocre. Versace outfits are the star in any room or show they appear in.

The just-concluded Halloween season saw a spike in one knock-off spring 2003 Versace multicolored mini-dress sales. The flirty number featured on the big screen when Jennifer Garner's character, Jenna Rink, danced to Michael Jackson's Thriller in 13 Going On 30 at the office party. You can watch Jennifer Garner in action on YouTube.

Not only did it make a comeback amongst fans in October, but multi-award-winning pop singer Ariana Grande also debuted on The Voice live show in a custom-made remake!

Sustainable Fashion

Long before Ariana and January, there was Cate Blanchett. The Australian actress is the proud queen of recycling Red Carpet outfits. She thinks it's "particularly ridiculous that such garments are not cherished and re-worn." Whether she's wearing it as is or altering the outfit for a fresh twist, the Thor: Ragnarok actress never misses.

The Internet also went up in flames when Jennifer Lopez re-wore her iconic Green Versace dress from 2000. The plunging neckline to the mid-riff and pelvic high-slit are positively risqué. The "Ain't Your Mama" singer closed the fashion house's 2020 Spring fashion show in an upgraded version of her iconic leafy sheer dress.

Timeless Versace

In February, January Jones sizzled red hot at the 2021 Golden Globes Awards. If the plunging neckline number gave you déjà vu, you're not crazy. The Mad Men alum wore this same dress to the Golden Globes in 2011.

In Jones's words, "10 years later and it still, (sorta,) fits," and we couldn't agree more. The cut-outs and deep V accentuate her bosom and smooth skin. She looks as delectable as the first time she wore the Versace dress.

The 43-year-old shared the moment with her 1.1 million Instagram followers.

Generational Couture

Recycling isn't limited to personal outfits or even Versace. Celebrity families are also tapping into the trend. In 2013, Kris Jenner wore Kim Kardashian's red cocktail dress from her 2012 fragrance launch. This year, Kim revisited her old style when she wore a Barbie pink Balenciaga suit in tribute to her 2012 tracksuit of the same color.

US Announces Diplomatic Boycott Of Beijing Olympics, China Vows Retaliation

Posted: 07 Dec 2021 01:06 PM PST

White House press secretary Jen Psaki announced Monday that President Joe Biden's administration will not send an official diplomatic delegation to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China.

Psaki said that Biden is looking to send a "clear message" to official Beijing that human rights abuses -- like those in China's western region of Xinjiang -- will not be tolerated.

At the same time, the White House press secretary made it clear that American athletes will be allowed to compete, and said they will enjoy the administration's "full support."

Read More Below

As reported by CNN, Psaki stressed that the United States will not tolerate what is being done to the Uyghur population and other ethnic and religious minority groups in China.

"US diplomatic or official representation would treat these games as business as usual in the face of the PRC's egregious human rights abuses and atrocities in Xinjiang, and we simply can't do that," she said, noting that the diplomatic boycott is not in any way "the end of the concerns we will raise about human rights abuses."

Diplomatic Boycott

The announcement did not come as a surprise, given that Biden said last month he was weighing a diplomatic boycott, a move that is supported by both Republican and Democratic lawmakers, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the top Democrat in the House of Representatives.

However, the Winter Olympics, which will take place in February, were not a topic of conversation during Biden's last summit with China's leader Xi Jinping.

The last time the U.S. fully boycotted the Olympics was in 1980, when then-President Jimmy Carter's administration decided to protest the Soviet Union's invasion of Afghanistan.

Will Other Countries Follow Suit?

As reported by The New York Times, New Zealand announced months ago that its diplomatic delegation would not be attending the Beijing Olympics.

The United Kingdom, Germany, and France have not committed to boycotting the games. The European Parliament, meanwhile, recently passed a nonbinding resolution calling on diplomatic officials to boycott the Olympics "unless the Chinese Government demonstrates a verifiable improvement in the human rights situation."

Canada and Australia have not committed to the boycott either, but are said to be strongly considering joining the United States.

China Vows Retaliation

According to Reuters, China responded to the Biden administration by vowing to retaliate.

"The United States will pay a price for its mistaken acts. Let's all wait and see," Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said in a statement.

Zhao added that the boycott has "damaged the foundation and atmosphere" of the games, urging the United States to keep politics out of sports.

Wang Wen, a professor at Renmin University in Beijing, echoed these sentiments, saying that it is "foolish and silly of the United States to do this."

James & Jenifer Crumbley Hire High-Profile Lawyers For Themselves, But Not Ethan

Posted: 07 Dec 2021 01:03 PM PST

Ethan Crumbley opened fire inside Michigan's Oxford High School on Tuesday, killing four of his fellow students.

Three students died in the shooting, while a fourth one succumbed to his injuries a day later. Seven others were injured.

Authorities say the shooting was premediated, so Ethan has been charged as an adult with 24 charges, including murder, terrorism, assault and weapons possession.

Ethan's parents, James and Jennifer Crumbley, have been charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter. All three have pleaded not guilty and are locked up in the Oakland County Jail.

High-Profile Lawyers

As reported by The Independent, James and Jennifer Crumbley have hired two high-profile lawyers, Shannon Smith and Mariell Lehman, to represent them.

Smith in particular is a household name, having represented a number of famous clients in recent years. Most notably, she represented former U.S. Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar, who was accused of sexually abusing more than 250 victims over the years.

Smith has also represented Jumana Nagarwala, a doctor who was accused of performing female genital mutilation on minors in multiple states.

Court-Appointed Lawyer For Ethan

Though James and Jennifer have hired expensive, high-profile lawyers to represent them, they apparently let their son Ethan fend for himself.

Ethan was appointed an attorney by the court after proving he does not have the funds to hire his own lawyer. Paulette Michel Loftin, a little known defense attorney from Rochester, Detroit, will represent the teenager, according to reports.

As The Independent noted, defendants in the U.S. are legally entitled to a court-appointed attorney -- paid for by the taxpayer -- if they can't afford one themselves.

Read More Below

Though many believe that James and Jennifer are trying to distance themselves from their son and avoid any culpability for his actions, some experts say their decision to hire expensive lawyers was entirely rational.

According to criminal defense attorney Bill Swor, "in some ways, the parents have got a harder case than the kid."

"They're adults and he's a child, and the father bought the gun. The mother made the [social media] postings, and public officials... made public statements that are very prejudicial," Swor explained.

No Remorse

In an interview with MSNCB, Sheriff Michael Bouchard said that James and Jennifer have appeared "sullen," but shown no remorse since being charged with involuntary manslaughter.

"They're not talking much to us. We've not seen any remorse," Bouchard said, as reported by The New York Post.

According to Kayla LeMieux, who lived in the same apartment complex as the Crumbleys in 2014 and 2015, the couple often left their son home alone when they went out drinking.

LeMieux says she was so concerned about Nathan that she contacted Michigan's Child Protection Services (CPS), but it remains unclear if the agency ever intervened.
