NBA Rumors: Sixers Reveal 'Goal No. 1' For Ben Simmons

Posted: 08 Jan 2022 10:08 AM PST

Since the 2020-21 NBA season came to an end, rumors have been swirling around All-Star point guard Ben Simmons and his deteriorating relationship with the Philadelphia 76ers. After being blamed for their failure to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals last year, there were speculations that Simmons is no longer interested in staying with the Sixers and wants to start a new journey somewhere else.

Unfortunately, months since the Simmons saga began, the Sixers still haven't found success moving their disgruntled superstar.

Updates On Ben Simmons Saga

In his substack newsletter, NBA insider Marc Stein discussed several interesting topics, including the rumors surrounding Simmons and the Sixers. Though they are actively listening to trade offers for Simmons, Stein revealed that the Sixers' "goal no. 1" is to convince the three-time NBA All-Star to stay with the team.

"The 76ers will be discussing various Simmons trade scenarios for the next month, but actually trading him before the NBA's annual trade buzzer is not their preferred scenario. As it stands," Stein wrote, as quoted by Sixers Wire. "Convincing Simmons to rejoin the team and play as much of the remaining schedule as possible, according to one source familiar with Philadelphia's thinking, is the club's 'goal no. 1' when it comes to the wayward playmaker."

Keeping Ben Simmons Makes Sense

Simmons' inability to shoot the ball from the perimeter may remain a major concern, but he could still make a major impact for the Sixers on both ends of the floor. Though he had disappointed in the 2021 NBA Playoffs, Simmons somehow performed well during the regular season last year. In 58 games he played, he averaged 14.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 6.9 assists, and 1.6 steals while shooting 55.7 percent from the field, per ESPN.

Bringing Simmons back this season could help the Sixers improve their defensive efficiency that currently ranks No. 17 in the league, allowing 107.1 points per 100 possessions, per ESPN.

Rebuilding Ben Simmons' Trade Value

The Sixers have plenty of reasons why they should prioritize convincing Simmons to stay with the team for the remainder of the 2021-22 NBA season. Aside from giving them another pair of hands to compete for the NBA championship title this season, there's also no team that is willing to pay their asking price for Simmons.

Simmons may be currently receiving plenty of interest on the trade market but with his disappointing performance last season and drama surrounding him in Philadelphia, his trade value is currently at an all-time low. Allowing him to return to action this season would give the Sixers the opportunity to rebuild his trade value and make him a more attractive trade chip.

Sixers' Top Trade Targets Still Not Available

While it seems like they want to repair their relationship with their disgruntled superstar, there's a bigger reason why the Sixers prefer to keep Simmons for the remainder of the 2021-22 NBA season. As of now, the Sixers' top two trade targets, Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard and Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal, aren't expected to be available on the market before the 2022 NBA trade deadline.

However, if their respective teams suffer a huge disappointment this season, there's a strong possibility for Lillard and Beal to demand a trade next summer.

Jennifer Garner Rocks Tight Leggings For Morning Yoga

Posted: 08 Jan 2022 09:38 AM PST

Jennifer Garner is looking phenomenal in tight leggings and thigh-high legwarmers after a refreshing morning yoga session. The 49-year-old actress had the paparazzi chasing her on Thursday morning as she kicked off the day the right way - photographed in L.A., the ex to Ben Affleck looked fresh-faced and fabulous, also reminding the 20-somethings they can shove it.

Garner was snapped on the phone and showing off her killer figure, also treating herself to a hot beverage. Check out the photos below.

Jennifer is fresh from being crowned Woman of the Year by Harvard University's Hasty Pudding Theatricals. The Alias actress was photographed on a sunny sidewalk and looking super-fit as she rocked a navy blue pair of leggings, plus a black sweater.

Opting for a cozy vibe and shouting out the '80s, the mom of three went for a black pair of legwarmers rising to her thighs, also sporting her long brown locks down, plus a thick-rimmed pair of glasses. More after the snaps.

Post-Workout Feeling The Best

Garner, a paparazzi favorite with media outlets prying into her life as ex Ben Affleck rekindles his relationship with 51-year-old Jennifer Lopez, has opened up on her wellness mindset. Last year, she told Shape:

"I never feel or look better than right after a hard workout. One way or another, even when my kids were babies, I work out every day. That's more for my brain than my body." The Golden Globe winner favors Limit classes, hosted by trainer Beth Nicely.

Thoughts On Aging

Garner continues to make headlines for defying her age - not quite on the six-pack front seen by Hustlers actress Lopez, but she's up there. Speaking of the Neutrogena brand she fronts, Jennifer told Glamour:

"I've been with them for all these product lines, as new technology has emerged, and there's nothing like retinol."

"Nothing looks better in your 50s than sunscreen in your 20s," the Juno star added. "Dermatologist Dr. Doris Day told me that and it's the best line ever!"

Fans Shading JLo

Viewers to the post-yoga class images largely sent the thumbs-up, but some took a moment to throw shade at JLo, who was engaged to Affleck decades ago and is now back with him after splitting from Alex Rodriguez.

"Here she is dressed down and with minimal or maybe even no makeup, and she looks fantastic. JLo on the other hand appears to be extremely high maintenance. Why would Affleck choose the latter?" one user wrote. Others, meanwhile stated Garner looking "amazing" for her age.

Posting for their 123 million followers in late 2021, Lovato stunned in a series of chic selfies by a restroom - this was before they made headlines for a shock buzz haircut to usher in 2022.

Lovato, who announced they are non-binary last year, continues to make headlines for reflecting on their eating disorder journey and recovery. Touching on their 2018 drug overdose, one making global headlines for being near-fatal, the brunette last year revealed:

"I'm in recovery for a bunch of things and I had been sober for how many years, but I'm still miserable. For the first time in my life, I had to essentially die to wake up." Lovato entered rehab shortly after being hospitalized for the overdose.

Taking Control

The Confident hit-maker added: "I didn't control any of my life at that period of time, but yes, I also had to grow up and take control, and that's something I haven't done until the past two years of my life where I'm now in control of my finances, I'm now in control of the food that I eat, how often I work out."

Lovato began purging aged just eight and has been open about their body image and finding happiness, regardless of their weight.

'California Sober'

In 2021, Lovato released California Sober, stating:

"I think the term I best identify with is 'California sober,'" adding: "I don't really feel comfortable explaining the parameters of my recovery to people, because I don't want anyone to look at my parameters of safety and think that's what works for them."

Lovato began using alcohol as a student and tried cocaine for the first time aged 17. Their overdose in 2018 left them legally blind and in the ICU. Fans continue to rally around the star's recovery.

Skier Eileen Gu Talks About The Importance Of Representation

Posted: 08 Jan 2022 09:34 AM PST

Eileen Gu carries a big responsibility on her shoulders as a pro athlete and medal favorite for the 2022 Winter Olympics. The 18-year-old Chinese-American is not only gunning for Olympic glory in freestyle skiing next month in Beijing, she's also aiming to inspire through representation.

As one of the youngest competitors in her events, a female in a male-dominated sport, and a minority in a game traditionally ruled by white athletes, Gu has the job of representing a diverse mix: young people, women and her race. And she's only too happy to rise to the challenge.

Representing Young People

The sports prodigy made her X Games debut in January last year at the age of 17, bringing home two golds and one bronze. In an interview with Highsnobiety, she said, "I was the only rookie there. I was also the youngest competitor in my events. Being able to represent young people and represent women was really meaningful to me, as well as being the first person of Chinese descent to win X Games."

She also made the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in Sports and Entertainment, the youngest person to be given the honor.

Representing Women

In her interview, Gu talked about being the only girl in her ski team while growing up, which led her to believe that "being as masculine as possible" was the key to getting ahead in the sport. That changed when she got to know Canadian skier Kaya Turski, who helped her realize that "girls can do it too."

Talking to Forbes, she said, "My biggest message is just to encourage young girls in sports, extreme sports especially, to break boundaries and not feel too intimated by being the only girl or being the youngest."

Representing China

Though Gu was born in the US to an American father and a Chinese mother, she decided to compete for China beginning in 2019. "Skiing is traditionally a very white sport. There's literally nobody else of another race in all of the events that I do," she said. "I'm the only Chinese representative in this industry. I was the first person of Chinese descent to ever win X Games, and I doubled the medal count for China, X Games history. All of this makes me feel really proud, more than anything."

On Dieting And Strategies

With all of this on her plate, how does Gu keep herself in check?

She says she runs almost daily and is not into dieting "because so much of it takes a mental toll and does very little for the body. There's a really negative diet culture around youth and girls that I want to stay away from," she said.

Mentally, she finds that keeping a journal helps, saying, "It has allowed me to understand myself more and helped me figure out the strategies that let me stay calm at the top of the competition course."

Eagles Vs. Cowboys: Key Things To Watch

Posted: 08 Jan 2022 09:33 AM PST

You don't have to be a football connoisseur to know that the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles simply don't like each other.

That's why, even though both have already clinched a spot in the playoffs, there will be nothing friendly about their Week-18 clash for the season finale.

Eagles and Cowboys would love to play spoiler for each other with the postseason just around the corner, which is why both teams should be wise to rest their starters at some point in this game.

Here, we're going to discuss the biggest takeaways ahead of this long-awaited divisional clash.

Nick Sirianni's Running Game

For some reason, Nick Sirianni refused to commit to the running game early in the season, and the Eagles looked far from a playoff team.

Now, he's finally put the ball on the ground with his running back committee and that has opened up plenty of space for Jalen Hurts to do his thing on the air and with his feet.

The Cowboys don't match well against the run and Sirianni could put together a blue print to expose them right in time for the playoffs.

The Boys' Offensive Line

Although the Cowboys' defense ranks among the league's finest, their offense has vastly regressed since Week 9.

All people point the finger at Dak Prescott but, in reality, there's only so much he can do when his offensive line combines for a whopping 52 penalties.

The OL has failed to open up any sort of space for the running game, let alone provide protection for the pass.

The Eagles' defense continues to get better every week, so they could keep Dak on his toes more often than not.

Let Dak Get Out Of The Slump Or Keep Him Safe?

Prescott has been far from his usual self as of late, and while most of that should be credited to that terrible offensive line, he's also left a lot to be desired when given time and space.

The Cowboys could choose to either let him cook a team he's historically fared well against and regain his confidence in time for the playoffs or simply shut him down.

The latter could be the smartest with the playoffs in sight and nothing at stake in this game, but we know coach McCarthy doesn't usually do what he's expected to.

Jalen Hurts: Making A Statement

Not so long ago, all the chatter around the league was whether the Eagles were going to trade up in the Draft to land a quarterback or if they were going to try and enter the Russell Wilson sweepstakes.

Every game has been an audition for Jalen Hurts and he's taken his game up a notch during the second half of the season. But that doesn't mean he won't be in the spotlight anymore.

Hurts needs to prove that, even though the Cowboys will most likely rest their starters in the second half, he can still take down a divisional rival, especially after that beatdown early in the season.
