Summer House’s Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula’s Relationship Highs and Lows Posted: 17 Jan 2022 01:54 PM PST Not just a summer romance! Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula have weathered reality TV drama, cheating scandals and wedding delays throughout their relationship — and they're still going strong. The Summer House stars' romance has played out on the Bravo series since season 1, which premiered in January 2017. Cooke, who met Batula during the summer of 2015, signed on for the reality show first. After inviting his love to spend time with him at the Hamptons house in July 2016, however, the New Jersey native was featured in several season 1 episodes. She officially joined him on the TV adventure for season 2. "We have watched every episode together, the good ones and the bad," the Loverboy founder wrote via Instagram in March 2019, while looking back at the first time Batula filmed with him. "It's not easy reliving the tough and challenging parts of our relationship every year, ever episode, 8 months after it happened, but here we are. Happily engaged, and about to watch the premiere of Season 3. Thank you to everyone for your love and support! One year prior, Batula gave fans a glimpse at her relationship with Cooke, including why they work so well together. "I'm very picky when it comes to the guys I date. I can count on one hand the number of long-term relationships I've been in and have only told 3 of those people that I loved them because I don't want to give a piece of my heart to just anyone," she wrote via Instagram in April 2018. The Loverboy creative director explained that she let Cooke in because she "trusted" him and saw "how big and kind" his heart was when they first met. "I admired you because I saw how you were the life of the party and how so many of [your] friends … had nothing but nice things to say about you. I enjoyed dating you because of the weird things we'd get into as essentially complete strangers, our accidental blackout date nights, and at times, your drunken shenanigans that made me laugh and were endless entertainment," she continued. "I chose you because you chose me too & the only place I'm ever running is straight into your arms (committed to trying to nail that dirty dancing move so keep hitting the gym The twosome, who got engaged in September 2018, however, have had their fair share of ups and downs. Their biggest roadblock came when Cooke cheated on Batula, which he later spoke about publicly following the season 3 premiere in March 2019, explaining during the episode that the infidelity took place one year prior. “Honestly, it’s gonna sound cliché, we went through a lot together, and I’ve always been 99 percent sure,” the Maryland native said during a March 2019 episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen when asked why he fought for Batula after the cheating drama. “But when you go through some of those massive hurdles and speed bumps and you keep it together as a couple, you’re like, ‘Holy crap, life is difficult and she’s the one I want to be with.'” Batula, for her part, said she had moved on from the betrayal and was focused on her future with Cooke. “I have the ring, I know that he loves me, the world has changed now that he’s serious about me, and I think that’s all that matters," she said at the time. The duo tied the knot two years later, with Cooke exclusively telling Us Weekly in October 2021 that he got "goosebumps" ahead of the ceremony. "I was like a ball of nerves, but in that moment, everything was perfect. It's exactly how you want it to feel," he said of the September 2021 nuptials. "And I was certainly teary-eyed, several times during the ceremony, but I managed to pull through." Batula explained during the show that she found out about the infidelity a few months before they returned to the Hamptons to film — and despite losing trust for her then-fiancé, she chose to give him one more chance. “You mean so much to me, I don't ever want to put you through what I put you through," Cooke told Batula on the show. Sara Evans and Jay Barker's Relationship and Divorce Timeline Posted: 17 Jan 2022 01:51 PM PST It seems things between Sara Evans and Harry "Jay" Barker are starting to get ugly. The country singer married the former football player in 2008, one year after she finalized her divorce from Craig Schelske. Evans and Schelske's relationship made headlines in 2006 when she abruptly left Dancing With the Stars as her marriage crumbled amid allegations of cheating from both Evans and Schelske. The former couple, who wed in 1993, share three kids. While navigating her divorce, the "A Little Bit Stronger" singer was introduced to Barker, who was going through a split of his own, by her marital counselor. “He told us he’d never known two people more alike,” Evans told Birmingham magazine in 2015. “He felt we could at least be supportive friends.” The pair connected via emails and text before hopping on the phone. "We would get together with our kids as ‘just friends,'" the University of Alabama alum added. "Before long, they told us we should be dating.” Barker shares four kids with his ex-wife, Amy DiGiovanna. "She's my biggest fan and I'm hers," Barker gushed about Evans at the time. "As great as she is at music, she's even better at being a mom and wife." The duo moved their brood to Alabama after exchanging vows. "We are truly a family. We don't think of it as 'blended'; they are just our kids," Barker told People in 2011. "But we also understand our roles. If I'm around when Sara's kids' father is around, I give him his place as their dad." Evans added, "The kids really love each other. It just works. We're so fortunate." After nearly 14 years of marriage, the twosome made headlines when Barker was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The booking stemmed from an alleged January 2022 incident in Nashville after he allegedly tried to hit Evans with his vehicle. While the arrest drew attention to Evans' August 2021 divorce petition, there were signs of trouble in the pair's marriage. Chris Pizzello/AP/Shutterstock ![]() "I've always liked Alabama," Evans recalled to Birmingham magazine in 2015 of relocating from Tennessee. "When I lived in Nashville and went to the beach, I loved driving through Alabama. Where we live feels like a small town. People are so friendly here. I have four or five girlfriends who are really close. Our kids all play sports, our families get together and have fun. People think I'm always touring but I'm usually here. I used to take my kids with me on tours — now that they're older, I can't do that.” Evan Agostini/AP/Shutterstock ![]() Evans used to share sweet snaps with Barker via Instagram often. He subsequently shared a statement via his radio show’s Instagram page. “I am humbled beyond words by the support I have received from friends, supporters and so many in the Alabama family,” he wrote. “To all of you, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for your thoughts and prayers. We all confront challenges in life and my family, and I are facing one now. Unfortunately, headlines and quick-to-publish news stories do not adequately capture the full context and complex fabric of our lives. I love my family dearly and at this difficult time, I respectfully ask for privacy for the sake of my family and especially our kids. In gratitude, Jay Barker. 'Jerk!' Emma Stone Called Out Andrew Garfield for 'Spider-Man' Lies Posted: 17 Jan 2022 01:12 PM PST ![]() Good at keeping secrets. Andrew Garfield revealed that ex Emma Stone called him out after learning he lied about appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Garfield, 38, revealed that Stone, 33, frequently reached out to him about the rumors he would return as Spider-Man in the most recent installment. “Emma kept on texting me. She was like, ‘Are you in this new Spider-Man film?’ And I was like, ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about,'” Garfield told “Happy Sad Confused” podcast host Josh Horowitz in the Monday, January 17 episode. ![]() “She was like, ‘Shut up. Just tell me.’ I’m like, ‘I honestly don’t know,'” the Oscar nominee continued, adding that he “kept [the ruse] going,” even with Stone, who starred alongside him as love interest Gwen Stacy in 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man and its 2014 sequel. “And then she saw it. She was like, ‘You’re a jerk.'” No Way Home, which introduced the multiverse into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, featured appearances from Garfield and Tobey Maguire (who starred in 3 Spider-Man films from 2002 to 2007). The two shared the big screen with the current Peter Parker, Tom Holland, in the blockbuster. Though there are rumors that Garfield might even play the Marvel superhero, he claimed that he hasn’t heard anything official. “I can’t speak for anything but myself. [The producers] might be doing something, but I [haven’t heard],” Garfield said, emphasizing that he “did not get a call” about another superhero project. Regardless of what comes next for Peter Parker, the Tick, Tick… Boom! star has nothing but fond memories of his time as the webslinger. “It was only beautiful,” Garfield reflected during an interview with Variety in September 2021. “I got to meet Emma [Stone] and work with her and Sally Field.” After meeting on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man in 2011, Garfield and Stone became a couple both on and off the screen. They dated for four years before calling it quits in 2015. Despite the split, Garfield has described himself as Stone’s “biggest fan,” adding that they still support one another, both personally and professionally. “We care about each other so much, and that's a given, that's kind of this unconditional thing," Garfield said on Vanity Fair's "Little Gold Men" podcast in January 2017. "There's so much love between us and so much respect. … I'm her biggest fan as an artist. So for me, it's been bliss to be able to watch her success and watch her bloom into the actress that she is. And it's been wonderful to have that kind of support for each other.” Stone secretly married director Dave McCrary in the fall of 2021. The couple welcomed their first child together, a baby girl named Louise in March. Garfield, meanwhile, has been dating model Christine Gabel since 2019. |
Kardashian Family Is ‘Not Happy’ With Kanye Amid ‘Uncontrollable’ Kim Drama Posted: 17 Jan 2022 12:55 PM PST ![]() Not cool. Kim Kardashian's family is over Kanye West's actions after he claimed he was not invited to their daughter Chicago's birthday party over the weekend. “Kanye has caused a lot of drama lately with the family [and] they’re not happy with what’s transpired over the last few days," a source exclusively told Us Weekly on Monday, January 17, noting the Yeezy designer 44, is "uncontrollable" as he continues to air their "private matters." The "Jesus Walks" rapper raised eyebrows on Saturday, January 15, when he alleged that his estranged wife, 41, wouldn't tell him where his 4-year-old daughter Chicago's celebration was taking place. "I did call Kim, texted nannies. I got on the phone with Tristan [Thompson, Khloé Kardashian's ex], he asked Khloé [and] won't nobody give me the address to my daughter's birthday party right now," West claimed at the time. "That's gonna imprint in her mind that I wasn't there for her." The Grammy winner, who also shares North, 8, Saint, 6, and Psalm, 2, with the KKW Beauty founder, later made an appearance at the bash, which was a joint party for Chicago and Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott's daughter, Stormi. A source exclusively told Us at the time that Kim was caught off guard by West's allegations as there were "always two parties planned" for the estranged couple's youngest daughter. The "Runaway" rapper was set to celebrate the little one at 4 p.m. PT on Saturday, according to the insider, who added, "Kim was shocked to learn that he released a video about not being invited to her party — that's not true and as soon as he asked to come he was given the location." The Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum, who filed for divorce from West in February 2021 after six years of marriage, has continued to make all her decisions with her "kids' best interest in mind," the source explained on Monday. Despite their personal ups and downs, Kim "wouldn't deny him access to the kids," the insider told Us, noting that the mother of four "just wants more boundaries and structure, a set parenting plan." Amid their divorce, West has been vocal about wanting to get back together with Kim even though she has moved on with Pete Davidson. The reality star and the comedian, 28, were first linked in October 2021 after sharing a kiss in a sketch during her Saturday Night Live hosting debut. The "Off the Grid" musician turned heads two months later when he bought a house across the street from his and Kim's family home in Hidden Hills, California. He claimed during a Hollywood Unlocked interview earlier this month that the big purchase was all in the names of better serving his and Kim's kids. "My solace comes from seeing my kids and getting a solid schedule," West, who has recently been linked to model Julia Fox, told host Jason Lee on Monday’s episode. "That's why I even got the house." He added: "There's nothing with my career, whether it's rap [or designing], none of that is going to keep me from my children. Don't play with me and don't play with my children. Ain't no security going to get between me and my children." The musician revealed how he feels about Kim's new romance in a snippet of the track, "My Life Was Never Easy." In the song, which was leaked via Twitter on Friday, January 14, West raps, “God saved me from the crash just so I can beat Pete Davidson's ass." Kim, for her part, is "hoping the divorce is settled soon," the source told Us on Monday, adding that she's "ready for that chapter to close for good" even though West will always be a part of her and the kids' lives. New NYU Student Leah Remini Says Scientology 'Interrupted' Her Education Posted: 17 Jan 2022 12:07 PM PST ![]() Reflecting on a milestone. Leah Remini is thrilled to be working toward her associate degree, but she can’t help thinking about how her time with the Church of Scientology affected her education. The King of Queens alum, 51, posted a throwback photo of herself via Twitter on Sunday, January 16, and shared some memories of her life at 16, the age she was in the picture. “I was ready to take on the world,” she wrote. “But by this point, I had been living the life of an adult for years even though I was a kid.” The Troublemaker author went on to claim that she received no “formal education for years” before the photo was taken. “Instead, I had been working for years so that I could support myself and my family,” she continued. “For the last 38 years of my life, I have been living and working with an 8th grade education.” Instead of going to school, Remini worked at an insurance company and later began pursuing an acting career. “I saw a successful acting career as a salvation,” she tweeted on Sunday. “It would help me get my family out of poverty and give me a higher standing in Scientology which I truly believed was helping to save mankind.” After years of struggle, the Second Act star became a successful actress — though she had to work on softening her thick Brooklyn accent. “Had you told me then that I would be a student at NYU at age 51, I wouldn't have believed it,” she added. “I had big dreams back then but when I look back they were rooted in my desire to survive … I couldn’t have imagined a world in which I would be a university student at my age.” The Kevin Can Wait veteran announced last year that she had been accepted to New York University for an associate’s program in liberal arts. “For someone like me, a person who desperately wanted a higher education and options in my life, coming from a cult and a family who didn't value an education, this is a very big day for me,” she wrote via Instagram in May 2021 alongside a photo of her admissions letter. “This didn't come easy. This is one of the last chunks of my life that I am taking back for myself from Scientology.” The New York City native has remained outspoken about the controversial religion since quitting the church in 2013. After publishing her memoir in 2015, she cohosted and coproduced the Emmy-winning A&E docuseries Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath, in which she interviewed former members of the church about how it affected their lives. Last year, the Old School actress said that she didn’t “respect” the way Laura Prepon handled her exit from the church. "For those of us who were in the public eye and who were speaking on behalf of Scientology, getting people into Scientology, I feel that we have a responsibility to do the work when we find out that none of those things we were doing was not only [not] helpful, but damaging and very harmful to people's lives,” Remini said in September 2021. "Some people, like Laura, feel they don't have a responsibility to speak out.” One month prior, the That ’70s Show alum revealed that she hadn’t practiced Scientology for nearly five years. "These are tough times for the church," a source told Us Weekly at the time. "Years ago, it almost unheard of for a Hollywood star to openly walk away. But the tidal wave of backlash generated by the likes of Leah and other whistleblowers has changed that." Us has reached out to the Church of Scientology for comment. |
She's 51! Meri Brown Embraces the 'Newest Version' of Herself on Birthday Posted: 17 Jan 2022 11:45 AM PST ![]() Big changes! Sister Wives star Meri Brown introduced fans to “Meri 5.1” while celebrating her 51st birthday. “The newest version, the most up to date model, more powerful, stronger, and able to handle all that’s thrown at her,” the TLC personality wrote via Instagram on Sunday, January 16, alongside a carousel of selfies. “She’s been around for a while, but every version is a little better, a little more dynamic, a little more energetic, a little more influential. She has the capacity for greatness, abundance and strength.” Kody Brown‘s first wife continued: “She’s got visions, dreams, and goals, and is on a trajectory to hit them all, and then some. She feels deeply, loves completely, and gives freely. She’s ready to conquer!” Meri gushed over her “amazing” birthday weekend, which she noted “turned out a bit different than originally planned.” While she didn’t specify what caused the changes in her celebration, the reality star kept a positive outlook. “I got to spend a few amazing days with some of my favorite people, sorely missed those who couldn’t make it, emotions were processed, plans were made, ideas were created,” she concluded on Sunday. “51 isn’t a bad thing at all. Watch out 2022, I’m comin’ for you!! The Becoming Sister Wives coauthor wed Kody, 53, in 1990. More than 20 years later, the pair legally divorced in order to make it possible for the Wyoming native to legally marry Robyn Brown and adopt her three children from a previous relationship. Kody and Meri remain in a spiritual union — but things have been rocky between them in recent years. “Meri and I have been in a very dark place for a very long time,” the salesman exclusively told Us Weekly in February 2021. “It’s been more about trying to get ourselves out of this hole that we dug ourselves into. … I hope that some communication heals things. It’s been a long time and it’s been very difficult.” At the time, Kody noted that he would never force any of his wives to stay in their plural family if they wanted to leave. Along with Meri and Robyn, 43, Kody is in a spiritual marriage with Janelle Brown. In November 2021, Christine Brown announced that she and Kody had separated. “After more than 25 years together, Kody and I have grown apart and I have made the difficult decision to leave,” Christine, 49, wrote via Instagram last fall. “We will continue to be a strong presence in each other's lives as we parent our beautiful children and support our wonderful family. At this time, we ask for your grace and kindness as we navigate through this stage within our family.” Kody shares six of his 18 children with Christine: Asypen, 26, Mykelti, 25, Paedon, 23, Gwendlyn, 20, Ysabel, 18, and Truely, 11. News of the pair’s split caused Meri, Robyn and Janelle, 52, to “reevaluate their position” within the polygamous family, a source exclusively told Us in November 2021. A second insider noted at the time that Meri “has become very independent” after 30 years with Kody. “They’re together for TV, essentially,” the second source told Us, claiming that the longtime couple “have zero relationship.” |
Bradley Cooper: I Was Nude for '6 Hours' on 'Nightmare Alley' Set Posted: 17 Jan 2022 11:37 AM PST ![]() Baring it all. Bradley Cooper opened up in a new interview about going full-frontal in a nude scene for his upcoming film, Nightmare Alley. The actor, 47, admitted that it was a “big deal” for him to film his first nude scene in Guillermo del Toro‘s next project. “I remember reading in the script and thinking, ‘He's a pickled punk in that bathtub and it's to story. You have to do it,'” Cooper recalled while with the KCRW show The Business in an episode released on Monday, January 17. The Oscar nominee added that there was “nothing gratuitous” about the scene, which helped him agree to film it. “Because the content of what the movie is, what we were exploring, in order to do it in a real way, it demanded that we'd be naked emotionally and soulfully,” Cooper explained. A remake of the 1940s noir of the same name, Nightmare Alley centers on Cooper’s character, Stanton Carlisle, a former carnival worker who uses his skills to present himself as a mentalist. The psychological thriller required Cooper to strip down and sit in a bathtub during a steamy scene opposite Toni Collette. Though he was OK with the nudity in theory, Cooper revealed that it was difficult to actually shed his clothes in front of Collette, 49. “I can still remember that day just to be naked in front of the crew for six hours, and it was Toni Collette's first day," he said. “It was just like, 'Whoa.' It was pretty heavy.” Filming on Nightmare Alley was interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, which forced the cast and crew to take a six-month break in the middle of production. “We have been making Nightmare Alley for the last two and a half years,” Cooper said at the Tribeca Film Festival in June 2021. “It was a unique experience, going through the pandemic, taking six months off and revisiting it.” In the meantime, the Star is Born actor spent much of quarantine looking after his mother, Gloria Campano, and his daughter, Lea, whom he shares with ex Irina Shayk. “I'm with my daughter [Lea De Seine] and my mother and my two dogs, and we have not left the house,” the actor recalled during an August 2020 conversation for Interview magazine. “My mother is going to be 80, and she has a colostomy bag, so I can't let anybody in the house. And I can't leave the house, because if she gets it, it's over.” Nightmare Alley is in theaters now. |
