Ex-Alabama Quarterback Arrested For Assault On Wife

A former Alabama quarterback has been arrested after allegedly attempting to strike his wife with his car, AL.com reports.

The 49-year-old football player and show host was taken to a jail in Nashville after being arrested in Tennessee. It's alleged that Barker attempted to hit his wife, known singer Sara Evans, with a vehicle.

Details Of The Arrest

Barker, full name Harry Jerome Barker entered Davidson County Jail in the early hours of Saturday morning at 4:10 a.m.

Police records state that Barker was charged with the felony of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He left jail the same day prior to 7:30 p.m. upon a $10,000 bond payment.

Barker was held in custody for a minimum of 12 hours, as domestic charges necessitate a 12-hour "cooling off" period.

The Assault

According to reports by The Tennessean, and AL.com Barker was said to have attempted to run over two individuals who had left a party early Saturday morning. One of the individuals is believed to be Barker's wife.

The two victims were driving together in a vehicle, and were pulling into a property's driveway at the time of attack. It was then that Barker allegedly drove his own vehicle into them "at a high rate of speed attempting to hit them, but missed."

Barker fled the scene, but the victims contacted police, who later arrested Barker when he returned to the scene.

Sara Evans

Other reports quoting the same affidavit have stated that Barker and one of the victims—his wife Sara Evans—are still married but are currently separated and do not live together. The same document states that it is likely that Barker did attempt to intentionally attack the victims with his vehicle.

Sara Evans is a country singer and has been married to Barker since 2008. She has released many albums under her own name, with her earliest work beginning in 1997. Evans has also released music with her three children under the name "The Barker Family Band".

Barker's Past Success

This is not the first time that the former quarterback for Alabama has been in the spotlight. During his tenure with the Crimson Tide, he lead the team to a 1992 national championship. In more recent years, he is known as the host to the sports coverage program, "The Jay Barker Show" in Alabama.

According to the Tennesseean, during his time with his old Alabama team, he took part in a victory over then-number 1 Miami during the 1993 Sugar Bowl. He is currently the school's highest-scoring quarterback and also won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award in 1994 as a senior.

Texas Hostage Standoff: Suspect Dead, Hostages Rescued

Latest reports of a hostage situation at a synagogue in Colleyville, Texas state that a suspect has been killed while hostages were released safely.

According to the New York Post, after nearly half a day a Texan rabbi and congregation were held within Beth Israel Synagogue, before eventually being rescued by police.

The hostage-taker's main demand was that Aafia Siddiqui, a convicted terrorist be released from her prison in Texas.

The Ending of the Hostage Situation

It was only minutes after an FBI hostage team entered the building that Texas Gov. tweeted out the confirmation: "Prayers answered," once hostages had been released.

Currently, it is not yet known how the suspect--who as of writing remains unidentified--was killed in the incident. During the hostage situation, the suspect claimed to have a bomb and demanded that Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani neuroscientist, be released from prison following her attempts to kill US authorities in Afghanistan. Reports state that the suspect also claimed to be Siddiqui's brother.

Those nearby to the scene reported hearing flashbangs and the sound of gunfire as the SWAT team entered the religious building

Details Within The Synagogue

The suspect, a young male, was said to have been captured on the place of worship's livestream, reportedly saying that he was armed with explosives and heard ranting about religion.

According to the Jerusalem Post, the livestream had amassed around 8,000 viewers before the broadcast was abruptly ended. During the livestream the suspect was heard declaring, "If anyone tries to enter this building, I'm tellin you … everyone will die."

The suspect also repeatedly said, "I'm going to die. Don't cry about me."

It was then that the suspect made the synagogue's rabbi, Charlie Cytron-Walker make a telephone call to Manhattan's Central Synagogue, according to The Post.

The suspect requested to speak with Manhattan's Rabbi Angela Buchdahl, reportedly demanding that she assist in his goal to have Siddiqui released from prison.

It was then that the New York-based rabbi phoned 911 to inform authorities of the situation.

Indentity Of The Suspect

Much is currently unknown to the public in regards to the now-deceased suspect's identity. Coverage has indicated that during the hostage-taking the suspect claimed to be the brother of Aafia Siddiqui, who was the subject of his main demands.

Aafia Siddiqui is currently held in the Federal Medical Center, Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas.

Officials have continued to remain silent on the details of the rescue mission as well, and have refused to declare whether the suspect was in possession of explosives. However, a spokesperson stated that the situation may have come to a much grimmer conclusion if not for "a long day of work by nearly 200 officers from across the region."

Police were in "constant communication" with the suspect, Colleyville Police Chief Micheal Miller said, and were encouraged when he released a male hostage from the synagogue in good condition around 5 p.m.

Reasons Behind The Hostage-Taking

The only currently-known reason behind the hostage-taking was surrounding the release of a Pakistani neuroscientist named Aafia Siddiqui, who is convicted of multiple felonies and is currently serving an 86-year sentence.

Kaley Cuoco Pens Heartfelt Tribute One Year After Norman’s Death

This time last year, Kaley Cuoco mourned her beloved pet Norman after 14 years together. The Flight Attendant star said felt an "Earth-shattering deep, gut-wrenching pain," she thought impossible as she penned a farewell tribute to the mixed breed pit bull. One year later, she remembers the dog with another Instagram post, only this time, the pain isn't as raw.

A Year Ago

"Norman, you were my entire world for 14 years. Thank you for smiling at me as you left this world, confirming for me once again, our language was ours alone. You will always have my heart," she wrote. Speaking to The L.A. Times in 2017, Cuoco said, "I wanted this dog to be in my life." Then she also spoke about Norman saving her "more ways than [she] can explain."

Immortalizing Her Pet

Before his death, Kaley collaborated with Sock Problems in 2018 to design a dog Euthanizing sock pair to help pets transition painlessly. She donated the sales from the socks to dog rescue organization Paw Works. Seeing how passionate she was, her wedding guests donated to the rescue pound as gifts when she married her now ex-husband Karl Cook.

Kaley named her production company Yes, Norman Productions to immortalize the dead pit bull. Although she had many pets at the time of Norman's death, the Big Bang Theory actress always had a closer relationship with the pit bull. That's expected, seeing as she owned the pet since she was 21.

This Year

"Norman, can't believe you have been gone a year. I'll truly miss you forever. 'A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself,'" she wrote. The 36-year-old actress relaxes on the beach as she watches crashing waves. While posting the story on her Instagram, she captions it, "I needed this," possibly referring to a distraction from remembering her dog's passing. Hopefully, Kaley would find solace in the company of her other animals in this sad time.

What's Kaley Doing Now?

Kaley constantly posts throwbacks of their special times, some of which moved her to tears. "Thank you, @cuddleclones, for this sweet gift. It gave me so much joy when I returned home. And a few tears thinking of the boy!" she wrote.

In the meanwhile, Kaley returns to work filming the second season of her hit TV series The Flight Attendant. She announced recently that Hollywood icon Sharon Stone would join the cast this year, and fans are excitedly anticipating the new release.

Anna has been hunkered down over the pandemic just like everyone else. She's also been opening up on it, last year telling Shape:

Olympian Chloe Kim Joins Kim Kardashian’s Team USA SKIMS Campaign

The new SKIMS collection is going to the Winter 2022 Olympics, and fans can't stop gushing about the famous faces in the campaign.

Kim Kardashian enlisted the help of snowboarding champion Chloe Kim, and Olympic bobsledder Aja Evans, amongst other sports stars, to be the faces of the new loungewear. This would be the second time Kim's brand would collaborate with Team USA.

Second Time Over

Skims first partnered with Team USA during the Tokyo Summer Olympics and recorded a huge success selling out within 24 hours. According to the USA Olympic and Paralympic Properties' Senior VP Peter Zeytoonjian, "Team USA's first collection with Skims was a huge hit with both athletes and fans, and we're thrilled to bring another collection to life as we head to the Winter Games."

He continued saying, "This new collection features warmer materials, bringing extra comfort to TEAM USA's athletes as they compete in cooler temperatures." In his closing speech, Peter expressed an interest in collaborating with Skims a third time.

A Possible Third Collaboration

Kim is also open to the possibility of a third collaboration, "I'm thrilled that SKIMS and Team USA are continuing to partner for these Winter Games. Our collection of lounge and sleepwear was designed with these inspiring women in mind, and I'm so proud that Olympic and Paralympic athletes will be wearing Skims again during their downtown."

It's fitting that Kim K chose these women as the faces for the capsule collection because they inspired the designs per Skims official website. There's a "Meet The Athletes" section on the shopping site where consumers can read up on the Olympians who inspired the collection.

Before making it to the big screens, the Israeli actress wasn't interested in acting. However, life often doesn't go according to plan, and that's sometimes a good thing. Early Days As A Beauty Queen

Gal Gadot started her career in pageantry when she walked the stage as a candidate for Miss Israel in 2004. Her mother applied for the spot, and she was surprised when she won the competition. The same year, she represented her country in the Miss Universe pageant but lost because of her self-sabotage.

"I was afraid I might get picked again. I showed up late. I came without gowns. They tell you to come to breakfast in a gown. I was like, 'No way am I having breakfast in a gown!" she told Glamour.

Her success in pageantry led her to the modeling world, where she thrived and is still thriving to date. She still walks the runway on special occasions.

Army Official

"In Israel, you graduate school, you go do your service in the IDF, and then you go to university," she once said. Citizens were obligated to enlist in the Israel Defense Forces for two years, so Gadot joined and trained comrades in gymnastics and calisthenics. Her time in the army contributed to her success as an action movie star because directors loved knowing she had real-life experience.

"I did most of my own stunts – like jumping from a moving motorcycle onto a jeep. It was important for my character to be as impressive as the boys," she told Marie Claire while talking about the F&F franchise.

Acting Career

Gadot's first stint in Hollywood was an audition to be a Bond girl in 2008's Quantum of Solace. Although she was reluctant to pursue the role because of her poor English, her agent encouraged her, and she took the plunge. "I went to study law which was fascinating, and then this opportunity came my way. This casting director from London flew into Israel, and she was looking for the Bond girl and wanted to see me, and I didn't want to go," she said.

After two callbacks, she didn't get the role, but she formed a good relationship with the casting director. Years later, while filming Fast and Furious 6, the casting director reached out to Gadot, and she played Gisele, a role that got the attention of DC's Zack Snyder. A few years later, we got our Wonder Woman.

UN Ambassador

In 2016, the United Nations honored Gal Gadot with the _ Honorary Ambassador for the Empowerment of Women and Girls_ position. As the new Wonder Woman, she's become a force to reckon with in the industry and amongst little children. However, people agitating that the superhero was an unrealistic projection of a role model made the UN revoke the ambassadorship.

Rebel Wilson announced on Friday that she'd host the upcoming British Academy Film Awards in March. The Australian actress gained popularity for being the "funny fat friend" in many comedy movies, starting with Pitch Perfect. Most people called her Fat Amy in that film even though her real movie name was Patricia as we later learned.

Having mentioned in the past that her creative team opposed her weight loss for fear of losing gigs, Rebel is once again alluding to the situation in her new announcement post.

Funny Fat Girl

"I got a lot of pushback from my own team actually, here in Hollywood, when I said 'Okay, I'm going to do this year of health, I feel like I'm really gonna physically transform and change my life," she told BBC. Rebel stated further that they opposed the idea because she was "earning millions of dollars being the funny fat girl."

Still Delivering Punchlines

"I am very honored to be hosting the EE British Academy Film Awards in March, where Covid will no longer exist because it will clearly have been canceled by then. It's going to be so much fun! I don't want to put any pressure on this – I know I'm not going to be funny because I am no longer fat," she wrote. This post is ironic because the entire monologue is filled with expertly delivered punchlines from James Bond to CATs.

"So basically, I'll just be there to hang out with Judi Dench and together, we'll both try and bond with Daniel Craig. And yes, I do mean bond," she wrote. If you remember, Judi Dench played M in the 007 franchise until her character's death in Skyfall and Craig played Agent 007, James Bond_ until his character's death in No Time To Die 2021.
