NBA Rumors: Ben Simmons To Kings, Buddy Hield, Harrison Barnes & Tyrese Haliburton To Sixers In Proposed Deal

Despite the absence of Ben Simmons on the court, the Philadelphia 76ers are still expected to reach the playoffs in the 2021-22 NBA season. However, going to the 2022 NBA Finals and capturing the Larry O'Brien Trophy would be a different question. To have a realistic chance of conquering the loaded Eastern Conference and ending their decades of title drought, the Sixers should strongly consider improving their roster around the face of the franchise, Joel Embiid, before the 2022 NBA trade deadline.

Proposed Sixers-Kings Trade

In a recent article, Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report created a list of trades to push NBA title contenders over the top. These include the hypothetical blockbuster deal involving the Sixers and the Kings. In the proposed trade scenario, the Sixers would be sending a trade package that includes Simmons, Georges Niang, and Paul Reed to the Kings in exchange for Hield, Harrison Barnes, and Tyrese Haliburton.

If the trade would push through before the 2022 NBA trade deadline, Hughes believes it would help both the Sixers and the Kings in filling up the needs to improve on their roster.

Why The Trade Makes Sense For The Sixers

Though they won't get a superstar like Damian Lillard or Bradley Beal, the proposed blockbuster deal would still be worth exploring for the Sixers. Aside from ending the drama surrounding Simmons, it would also allow them to acquire three quality supporting casts who would help Embiid win the NBA championship title this season.

"While a non-star return for Simmons might feel disappointing for the Sixers, they'd be getting three starting-caliber pieces who can shoot for someone who hasn't played a second this season, plus salary-fillers in Niang and Reed," Hughes wrote. "Rolling lately behind MVP-worthy work from Embiid and a hot week away from climbing atop the East, this might be all it would take to make the Sixers favorites to represent their conference in the Finals."

Sixers Boost Performance On Both Ends

Hield, Barnes, and Haliburton would all be intriguing acquisitions for the Sixers. Hield would provide the Sixers the much-needed improvement in floor-spacing, giving them an elite three-point shooter who can excel in an off-ball capacity. Meanwhile, aside from his ability to knock down shots from the three-point range, Barnes is also a great defender, making him an upgrade over Tobias Harris at the starting power forward position.

Haliburton would give the Sixers a young two-way contributor. If they want to further solidify their core, the Sixers could also use Haliburton as their main trade chip in a separate deal.

Kings Finally Acquire Ben Simmons

Trading Haliburton would be a tough decision for the Kings, but it might be worth it if it means acquiring Simmons. The Kings have been interested in adding Simmons to their roster since the 2021 NBA offseason. Simmons may still have some major flaws in his game, but he has in no doubt a higher ceiling than any young players on the Kings' roster.

If the Kings are still invested in Fox, they could make him and Simmons the centerpiece of the next title-contending team that they are trying to build in Sacramento.

Pacers News: Domantas Sabonis' Ankle Injury Is 'Going To Be Significant,' Says Coach Rick Carlisle

Veteran center Domantas Sabonis and the Indiana Pacers have established an impressive performance on Wednesday night at Cryptom.com Arena where they upset the Los Angeles Lakers, 111-104. In 35 minutes of action, Sabonis posted 20 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, and one block. He also shot 9-of-12 from the field and 2-of-2 from the three-point range.

Though he stayed on the court until the end, Sabonis didn't leave the game unscathed. It was recently revealed that the veteran big man suffered an injury in their recent game against the Lakers.

Domantas Sabonis Dealing With Ankle Injury

Sabonis sustained the ankle injury in the fourth quarter of their game against the Lakers. With four minutes and 54 seconds left on the clock, Sabonis was fighting for an offensive rebound when he landed on the foot of Lakers point guard Russell Westbrook. Instead of being cautious about his injury, Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle said that Sabonis insisted on staying on the court.

"He was not gonna come out of this game," Carlisle said, as quoted by The Indianapolis Star. "He was determined to help will us to the win along with Caris [LeVert] and the guys who were out there."

After their game against the Pacers, Carlisle shared his assessment of Sabonis' injury. According to the 62-year-old coach, Sabonis' left ankle sprain is probably "going to be significant." Carlisle's statement could be interpreted in different ways. By saying the word significant, it could mean that Sabonis could miss plenty of games which could tremendously affect the Pacers' chances of winning in their upcoming matchups.

Also, it could have an effect on his trade value. Earlier this season, rumors are circulating the Pacers are planning to move Sabonis and other veteran stalwarts before the 2022 NBA trade deadline.

Addressing Logjam At Frontcourt

Aside from Sabonis, Pacers center Myles Turner is also dealing with an injury. A recent diagnosis revealed that Turner has suffered a stress reaction in his left foot. If Sabonis' injury has the same timeline as Turner's, Sam DiGiovanni of ClutchPoints believed that Turner and Sabonis may have already played their last game together in Indiana.

"If both Sabonis and Turner remain out for the next few weeks, they may have already played their last game as teammates," DiGiovanni wrote. "It may be for the best for the Pacers to move on from one of the big men and reshape the roster, as their chances at making the playoffs are not very good."

Pacers Big Men Receiving Strong Interest On Trade Market

Since rumors about their plan to undergo a full-scale rebuild spread around the league, several teams that are in dire need of a frontcourt boost have expressed a strong interest in acquiring Turner and Sabonis from the Pacers. Among the rumored suitors of Turner and Sabonis include the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, Portland Trail Blazers, New Orleans Pelicans, Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, and the Charlotte Hornets.

To maximize their trade value, the Pacers should wait for Turner and Sabonis to regain 100 percent health before dealing them to another team.

The 18-year-old Chinese-American is a two-time X Games gold medalist as well as a fashionista who's been tapped by high-end brands like Louis Vuitton and Tiffany & Co., and she also happens to be one of the smartest teenage athletes around.

Gu, who's headed to Stanford this year, is already talking about her legacy and influencing social change at such a young age. See below.

Mature For Her Age

The sports sensation is mature for her 18 years, with a razor-sharp focus directed towards her career and future. When asked by V Magazine what advice she would give to her teenage self, she replied, "Be bold. You'll wish you did things you were scared of when you're 90 years old."

Following her impressive finish at last year's X Games – two golds and a bronze as a rookie – Gu is headed to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing next month, and there are high hopes of her winning gold there as well.

Breaking Barriers

More than just her athletic prowess, though, the freeski star is remarkable for her deep grasp of social issues. She takes great pride in having broken barriers in gender, race, and social norms as a young woman of Chinese descent in a sport dominated by white males.

When asked what made her want to take skiing seriously, she said, "Being the first [girl] on my all-boys team to slide a rail sideways at age 8! My coach and teammates lined up to cheer me on, and that first rush of euphoria after breaking past my own fears was the spark that got me hooked on freeskiing."

'Divergence From The Norm'

"[In terms of fashion], Paris Fashion Week 2019 was [a major moment for me]," Gu continued. "I remember my fellow front-row attendees and the designers of multiple shows celebrating unconventionality, and feeling inspired by the recognition that divergence from the norm should be applauded."

And when she was asked what memory she holds most dear, she replied, "Being told I was the first person of Chinese descent to win X Games." Talking to Forbes, she recalled that moment, "Someone told me that statistic, and I started crying. It was a huge deal to me. That was the main reason that I decided to ski for China…."

'Positive Social Change'

As someone who has experienced so much at such a young age, Gu already knows what legacy she wants to leave behind.

"I would like my legacy to be one that highlights the possibility of excellence in multiple fields," she said. "I'd like to eliminate the concept that in order to 'succeed' in one area, all others must be ignored. I'd like to encourage a healthy baseline of joy throughout life, which stems from multiple different sources. One of which is the desire to give back to your community or create some form of unique, positive social change."

Daniel Jones may not be the best quarterback in the NFL but he just became one of the biggest winners of the season.

The New York Giants gunslinger had an epic gesture, hooking up a local high school sensation with tickets for Super Bowl LVI.

Alex Brown, who went viral for his 8 touchdowns in the state game just a day after his mom passed away, was in disbelief and ecstatic to know that Jones has given him tickets for the biggest game of the season.

Brown led Red Bank Catholic High School to the state title with 6 touchdown passes and ran for 2 more scores, sealing one of the most emotional performances one could ever think of:

"It honestly felt like the whole night was scripted before I even got there," Brown told CBS New York back then. It was awesome. It was awesome. You know, I threw that first touchdown pass, and I just knew she was going to be with me the whole night. And it was a really special feeling."

Jones' Future Is Up In The Air

Unfortunately for Brown, he won't be seeing his local team at SoFi Stadium.

The Giants had yet another mediocre season with a 4-13 record, and Daniel Jones is once again in the spotlight for his lack of development and mediocre QB play throughout the season.

Jones seems like a finished product already and he doesn't offer much upside, which is why some around the league think his days as a starter in the Big Apple may be coming to an end.

The Giants Need A New Coach

Moreover, the Giants are due for a huge organizational shake-up, as they need to hire both a new General Manger and Head Coach.

Letting go of Joe Judge after two terrible seasons was the best choice they could make, especially given the rising list of candidates ready to take the reins of their team.

Kellen Moore, Dan Quinn, Eric Bieniemy, Todd Bowles, Byron Leftwich, Brian Flores, Brian Daboll, and Jim Harbaugh are just some of the potential candidates to land the job.

Could Deshaun Watson Be Their Savior?

With the Giants' rumored interest in hiring Brian Flores, some speculate that they could be on the mix for Deshaun Watson as well.

Watson allegedly was only willing to veto his no-trade clause to join the Miami Dolphins because he wanted to play for Flores.

So, with all the doubts about Jones' skills and the new era in the Big Apple, Watson might as well be in charge of leading the offense for years to come, assuming his legal turmoil gets cleared before the start of the season.
