Experts Respond To Peter Thiel's Attacks On Bitcoin 'Enemies'

Controversial billionaire Peter Thiel recently made waves when he named a number of prominent figures as "enemies" of Bitcoin, the most popular cryptocurrency in the world.

An ardent backer of Bitcoin and blockchain technology, Thiel argued that some older investors are refusing to get with the times and thus holding back modern technologies.

Experts are now weighing in on Thiel's comments.

What Thiel Said

Here's what Thiel said, as reported by Business Insider.

Speaking at the Bitcoin 2022 conference in Miami, Florida, Thiel took aim at investor Warren Buffet, JPMorgan chief executive Jamie Dimon, and BlackRock chairman Larry Fink.

He slammed Buffet as Bitcoin's "enemy No. 1" and called him a "sociopathic grandpa from Omaha."

Thiel then attacked Dimon and Fink as members of a "finance gerontocracy."

"This is what we have to fight for... for bitcoin to go 10x or 100x from here," he said.Experts Respond

Founder and managing partner of SkyBridge Capital Anthony Scaramucci, who briefly served in Donald Trump's White House, said he agrees with the point Thiel made about the "financial gerontocracy," but stressed that people like Buffet are "not an impediment to another bitcoin full cycle."

"Bitcoin is a democratic asset, and we're seeing consumer demand force institutions like JPMorgan and BlackRock to build out bitcoin and crypto services for clients." Scaramucci said.

He noted that BlackRock recently invested in the crypto payments company Circle, while Fink himself conceded that there is strong consumer demand for cryptocurrency.

CEO of the Algorand Foundation Staci Warden said that there is "some truth" to what Thiel said, but noted that the tech entrepreneur's maximalist view "in the end suffers from the same lack of vision as those whom he attacks."

Marie Tatibouet, chief marketing officer at Gate.io, pointed out that Buffet invested a billion dollars in Nubank, while JP Morgan recently released its own metaverse lounge.

"So, the bottom line is that they can say what they want, but money-making opportunities will dictate their actions. But, as things stand, their actions are definitely supporting the crypto ecosystem," Tatibouet argued.

As Fortune reported, JP Morgan actually predicted earlier this year that the metaverse would become a $1 trillion market opportunity in the coming years.

Some Support Thiel

Several other industry experts strongly agreed with Thiel's assessment.

Budd White, cofounder and chief product officer of Tacen, said that crypto is booming because the world is not "hanging onto the words of old school investors."

Founder of SmartBlocks Mark Fidelman said that he admires Buffet, but described him as a "financial geriatrician who primarily cares for the old way of investing, and not the new."

Peter Eberle, president and chief investment officer of Castle Funds, was even harsher, saying that older investors don't want to openly back cryptocurrency because it would make them "obsolete."

Hilton can not wait to be a mom, and since finding Mr. Right, the TV star sees no reason to wait longer. In a recent episode of Nikki and Brie Bella's The Bellas podcast, Hilton, who could not stop gushing over her marital status, noted that she feels safe, and now that she has her home, the businesswoman "can't wait to start a family and have kids."

Hilton's desire to be a mom has been a part of her plans since she started dating Reum, as she confirmed that they have been talking about having kids since the first few months of their relationship. Hilton also said she and Reum would love to have three or four children, and she would like to start her brood with a twin boy and girl. However, she is keeping an open mind if that doesn't happen. 

Hilton's Attempt At Becoming A Mom

After Hilton tied the knot with her prince charming at an extravagant event held in her late grandfather's former estate in Bel Air, the Stars Are Blind singer opened up to Mara Schiavocampo on The Trend Reporter with Mara podcast about her efforts to become pregnant.

Hilton confirmed that she has been undergoing IVF treatment to get pregnant. The socialite also admitted to doing the IVF so that she could become pregnant with twins. Hilton went on to reveal that reality TV star Kim Kardashian was the one who informed her about how to get twins. 

Hilton and Reum's Romance 

Hilton and her husband Reum have one of the most captivating love stories in celebrity history, and their romance has only gotten better with each passing moment. Hilton and Reum have stopped at nothing when showing off their love. The couple wed in November 2021, but they are still in the honeymoon phase.

They recently took a trip to Tulum, Mexico, to celebrate their 28th "monthiversary" as a couple. In Hilton's Peacock docuseries, Paris in Love, she revealed she and Reum celebrate a monthly anniversary. For the new getaway, the duo stayed at the Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya, a Hilton hotel brand.

The oceanside resort boasts five pools, a spa with treatments, and 11 dining spots. Since there, Hilton and Reum have visited one of Tulum's famous cenotes — gorgeous deep-water sinkholes found around the Yucatán Peninsula. They have also enjoyed refreshing times at a nearby contemporary art museum.

NFL Draft: 3 Players Packers Should Target With The 22nd Pick

The NFL Draft is just around the corner, meaning that teams and scouts are working around the clock to make the most of the picks they have right now.

As you may know by now, striking gold in the Draft is way easier said than done, as scouting isn't an exact science and there are countless intangibles that can lead a player to failure or success.

That's especially true in the first couple of rounds. More often than not, players who were supposed to be stars wind up being busts, while six-rounders end up becoming legends. This time, the Green Bay Packers hope that won't be the case with them and the 22nd overall pick.

Packers Need More Weapons

Matt LaFleur's offense just lost two of its most important pieces. The Packers traded away Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling left to join the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency.

And, while they haven't exactly been high on drafting skill players in the first couple of rounds, it's clear that they need to fill in those voids in the Draft now that they don't have that much cap space. With that in mind, let's take a look at the 3 top players they could target.

3. Jameson Williams

If it wasn't for an ACL injury, Jameson Williams wouldn't be available at the 22nd spot. He's coming off an impressive career at both Ohio State and Alabama and showed glimpses of being an elite route-runner and a perennial deep-ball threat.

Williams doesn't need to haul in that many targets to put in big numbers. He's physically built to fill in for Valdes-Scantling and could make an immediate impact on a vertical offense like LaFleur's.

Despite his worrisome injury, he's expected to be a full go for the start of the 2022 NFL season.

2. Chris Olave

The Packers have been linked with Chris Olave for quite some time now, but so has been half of the league.

Olave became a fan favorite with the Buckeyes thanks to his elite route-running skills, agility, and change of pace. He can turn the corner in the blink of an eye and is one of the fastest wideouts in his class.

While his ability to produce is unquestioned, some still think of him as a boom-or-bust pick at this point.

1. Treylon Burks

While Treylon Burks isn't the speedster Williams or Olave are, he's by far the most intimidating physical specimen of the three.

He's got a big frame, is strong, tall, and can overmatch every single defensive back in the league with his athleticism. He's a perennial threat in the red zone and would give the Packers Mike Evans-kind of weapon.

He's used to playing in the screen game just like Davante Adams and can line up both outside and in the slot.

MLB News: Two Yankees Players Could Miss Trip To Toronto Over Vaccination Status

Vaccination status continues to be a subject of interest not only among the regular population but also among athletes. Not so long ago, Kyrie Irving wasn't allowed to play home games with the Brooklyn Nets due to NYC's private sector vaccine mandate.

Now, another team from the Big Apple could face similar repercussions, as two New York Yankees won't be able to play in Canada.

Two Yankees Remain Unvaccinated

According to a recent report, two players are still unvaccinated and only have a couple of days to meet Canada's requirements to play against the Toronto Blue Jays:

"Two Yankees players remained unvaccinated against COVID-19 with about two days remaining left to fulfill Canada’s laws for eligibility to enter the country and play in a series against the division-rival Blue Jays in Toronto that starts May 2," reported Jon Heyman and Joel Sherman of The New York Post.They Have 9 Games Up North This Year

MLB players aren't exempt from Canada's laws, meaning that they could be shorthanded when they visit one of the toughest rivals in the division:

"In order to meet Canada’s requirement, a player or staff member must have received either the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine or gotten both shots of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines at least two weeks prior to arriving in Canada," the report added. "The Yankees presumably will travel to Toronto on May 1 after their afternoon game at Kansas City. The Yankees play nine games this year at the Rogers Centre in Toronto."Aaron Boone Says It's An 'Interesting Situation'

Yankees' manager Aaron Boone had already addressed this possibility before the start of the season, stating that it would be an interesting, yet concerning situation:

Katy Perry is moving from one ritzy enclave to another. The 37-year-old singer and American Idol judge is leaving the star-studded neighborhood of Hidden Valley in Beverly Hills for another celeb-favorite community, Montecito, and she has listed her impressive mansion for almost $19.5 million.

For the steep price, the buyer will get a “contemporary regency style” mansion, per Hilton & Hyland’s listing, surrounded by trees on more than an acre of land. The property sits behind a pair of imposing gates leading to a wooded driveway a quarter of a mile long, and includes an infinity pool and enough parking space for “dozens of cars.”

Perry’s house, which she bought five years ago for almost $18 million according to Mansion Global, has an asking price of $19.475 million. It has five bedrooms and six bathrooms, a library with its own fireplace, a huge gym complete with industrial equipment, and a kitchen fitted with commercial-grade appliances, all spanning a floor space of 5,427 square feet.

The “Dark Horse” singer bought the stunning residence from Canadian construction heir and high-end property developer Cody Leibel in 2017, according to Dirt. Now she and fiancé Orlando Bloom are giving it up to move to Montecito, where they bought another house in 2020.

The power couple’s Montecito property, according to People’s source, was built in 1934 and has a floor area of 7,167 square feet and a lot area of 8.9 acres. It has six bedrooms and 12 bathrooms and was purchased for $14.2 million.

In May 2021, Perry sold another property in Beverly Hills – a four-bedroom, five-bathroom home – for nearly $7.5 million. She bought this in 2018 for $7.45 million and reportedly used it as a house for her guests before putting it on the market.

DJ Khaled joins the exclusive list of Hollywood entertainers immortalized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Boulevard. News of this achievement first broke a week ago when Variety reported that he would receive his star in a ceremony on April, 11. He told the publication,

He explained that the accolades don't move him despite him being appreciative of them. Instead, he draws inspiration from his family of two sons and a wife. The Grammy award-winning DJ also expressed his love for the art of music saying,

"God blessed me to love all music, especially Arabic music — dancing to Arabic music, going to family events and having it run through everything."

That's why his catalog spans a vast genre of music from Jazz to Hip-Hop to Turn-Table house.
