Celebrity Couples Who Got Engaged and Married Within 12 Months Posted: 05 Apr 2022 08:39 AM PDT When you know, you know! Through the years, countless celebrities have been bitten by the love bug — hard and fast. While couples traditionally spend months, even years, planning their weddings after getting engaged, it's not totally uncommon for Hollywood to do it differently. Take Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer for example: Just three days after the chef popped the question to the comedian in bed ("He kind of threw the ring box at me and he goes, 'I got you this,'" she later recalled), they exchanged vows during a super low-key ceremony in Malibu in 2018. "Most of the guests found out the wedding was happening from a text Amy sent," a source told Us Weekly exclusively at the time. "It was, 'Hey, this is happening. If you can make it, great. If not, no worries.' … It was very laid-back — just how Chris and Amy wanted it." Of course, Schumer and Fischer were not the first — nor the last — celebrities to get engaged and married within a 12-month period. Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries did it in 2011, Britney Spears and Kevin Federline in 2004 and Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin in 2018. In October 2021, Meghan King married President Joe Biden's nephew Cuffe Owens just weeks after they sparked their romance. “We connected on a dating app, texted for a day or two, then spent five straight hours on the phone the first time we spoke,” the former Real Housewives of Orange County star told Brides after her nuptials took fans by surprise. “By the time that call ended, Cuffe was booked and packed for a flight to St. Louis that took off in about eight hours. Within a week, we were back on the East Coast, meeting his family, and starting to plan our future together. We didn't leave each other's side for weeks.” Multiple sources later told Us that the duo had known each other for less than one month before they walked down the aisle in Pennsylvania. While some of the lovebirds' whirlwind romances quickly came crumbling down, others are still going strong today (here's to you, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen). Celebrity Weddings of 2022: See Which Stars Got Married Posted: 05 Apr 2022 08:38 AM PDT They do! Whether they went with a secret, private wedding ceremony or an all-out extravaganza, these celebrity couples all have one thing in common — they’re married. Bachelor in Paradise star Derek Peth kicked off the new year by tying the knot on January 14. He and British model Saffron Vadher got engaged in November 2020. “Mr. & Mrs. Peth !!! “I love our life together,” Peth commented. Vadher replied to her new husband, “I love you moreeee.” The banker was previously engaged to Taylor Nolan after getting popping the question on BiP season 4. The two split in June 2018. Peth and Vadher went public with their relationship in March 2020. They were isolating together amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and the model shared a number of TikTok videos with him in the months that followed. She even announced their wedding on January 15 with a TikTok video. The clip showed their hands with their rings before the video showed the model grabbing her new husband’s face. “Officially Mrs. Peth!!!” the excited newlywed captioned the clip. Peth wasn’t the only BiP alum to tie the knot in January. One day later, Jordan Kimball, who appeared in the third season of the tropical reality show, married Christina Creedon in a Houston, Texas, ceremony. The couple, who announced their relationship on social media in November 2019, shared photos from their big day on social media. The elementary school teacher wore a long-sleeved gown and Kimball looked happy while filling the champagne tower. The bride and groom’s first dance was to “When You Say Nothing At All” by Alison Krauss. The ceremony included traditional vows, with the pair exchanging letters an hour before they walked down the aisle. "I chuckled, I cried, I smirked," Kimball exclusively told Us Weekly of his now-wife's note. Creedon agreed: "It was so hard not to cry the entire time, just from pure joy." The groom revealed he was overcome with emotion when he saw her walking down the aisle. "Seeing her for the first time — we didn't do a first look — and seeing her in her dress, [I started crying]," the Bachelorette alum told Us, adding that he "for sure" expected to keep his emotions in check. "Ever since that moment, I’ve realized how important she is to me. I mean, to cry in front of lifelong friends and family and everything — I’ve never loved her as much as I do today." The pair had been engaged for more than a year. Kimball proposed on Christmas Eve in 2020 while they were at the church she grew up attending. Her love planned the whole event, making sure cameras were there to document the day and her family was nearby to witness the happy moment. "Even when we were sitting in church [after the proposal], I just randomly started crying, like, pure joy," she told Us exclusively at the time. "I watch [the video] like every 30 minutes." Celebrity Couples Who Got Married in Secret Posted: 05 Apr 2022 08:36 AM PDT Their best-kept secrets! From Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner‘s Las Vegas vows to Niecy Nash‘s hush-hush ceremony, some celebs have hidden their wedding days from the public eye. The Jonas Brothers singer and the Game of Thrones alum tied the knot two times in 2019: first during a private ceremony in Las Vegas and again in France in front of friends and family. Clips from their Vegas nuptials were shared online by Diplo and took everyone by surprise — even Jonas’ parents. “Well, in my mind, you know, that was the legal portion of the marriage,” the DNCE singer said during a radio interview in June 2019. “So I was thinking, like, ‘Look, this is not the most important day. There’s an important day, I mean, I’ll keep private, but ahead of us. So we were, like — this is, like, just whoever’s in town.” The former Disney star later revealed that his mom and dad, Denise and Paul Kevin Jonas, learned about their son’s legal ceremony secondhand. “[My parents] have an amazing restaurant in North Carolina and I think, like, a couple of their staff walked up and were, like, ‘Congratulations! I saw.’ And then they had to find out,” he said, teasing that he was “doing a lot of apologizing” in the aftermath. The Jonas family aren’t the only ones who’ve been late to the party. Some celebs have made their big announcements solely via social media, leaving fans and followers shocked by the reveal. “Mrs. Carol Denise Betts,” Nash wrote via Instagram in August 2020 alongside a photo from her wedding to singer Jessica Bettes. In a separate post on her Instagram Story, the Claws star joked, “#PlotTwist.” Niecy was previously married to Don Nash from 1994 to 2007 and to Jay Tucker from 2011 to 2019. In February 2020, the When They See Us star tearfully discussed the end of her second marriage, admitting that she and Tucker were “better friends than life partners.” “The one that made me laugh the most was an ode to him being attractive. [They said] ‘Well, you never had to put a sack on his head to sleep with him,'” she said of her family’s reaction to her divorce. “I replied, ‘What about my happiness?'” Scroll down to see more stars who married in secret! ![]() The Grammy winner and the author quietly tied the knot in February 2022, revealing the news two months later. Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker’s Relationship Timeline Posted: 05 Apr 2022 08:32 AM PDT Sometimes the best romances start off as friendships! While Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker's new relationship may come as a surprise to many, the pair have known each other for years. After Barker spent time with Kardashian at her mom Kris Jenner's Palm Springs, California, home in January 2021, Us Weekly confirmed that the pair were dating. "Kourtney and Travis are officially a couple," the insider told Us. "They have been close friends for years and have been dating for a couple months. Travis is very smitten with Kourtney and has been for a while." Shortly before the dating news broke, the Blink-182 drummer left multiple flirty comments on the Poosh founder's Instagram posts. As she shared a steamy selfie from her closet, Barker commented with a rose emoji. He dropped a mermaid emoji beneath a pic of her walking into the ocean. He also wrote, "You’re So Cool," after she shared screenshots of the 1993 film True Romance. (The rocker has previously stated that True Romance is his favorite movie, and he even named his daughter after Patricia Arquette's character, Alabama.) Kardashian and Barker's bond goes way back. The duo, who live in the same Calabasas, California, gated community, have been spotted out together on numerous occasions including in 2018 when they grabbed dinner and later attended evening church service. The musician has made appearances on her family's long-running show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, alongside his ex-wife Shanna Moakler. Barker once gushed to Us exclusively about how he was attracted to the mother of three's sister Kim Kardashian when she was still Paris Hilton's assistant. "How could you not stare at Kim? Mind you, I enjoyed hanging out with Paris, but I love curvy girls," he explained in October 2015. "Kim was eye candy. I was no way disrespectful to Paris, but I couldn't keep my eyes off Kim!" Since the pair both live in Calabasas, they would casually get together sometimes. "We would go out to eat, just hang out," he said, noting that he "had a crush on her and we were flirtatious, but nothing ever happened." The former Dash owner shares children Mason, Penelope and Reign with ex Scott Disick. The pair forged a friendship after ending their rocky on-and-off romance in 2015 after nine years. While Disick went on to date Sofia Richie for nearly three years before moving on with Amelia Gray Hamlin in late 2020, Kourtney was previously linked to Younes Bendjima and Luka Sabbat. The Meet the Barkers alum, for his part, was married to Moakler from 2004 to 2008. The exes share daughter Alabama and son Landon. Barker briefly dated Rita Ora in 2015. Sin City, Baby! Celebrity Couples Who Got Married in Las Vegas Posted: 05 Apr 2022 08:29 AM PDT Sin City is second to none when it comes to a spot for celebrity couples to tie the knot. While some famous faces opt to go to exotic locals to exchange nuptials, some of Hollywood's hottest couples have made their love official with a small ceremony in Las Vegas. Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa eloped in Vegas in 1996 after meeting onset of All My Children. Three children later, the Riverdale actor and the Live with Kelly and Ryan talk show host couldn't be more in love — and Ripa credits it somewhat to where they wed. "Listen, I've got to tell you, [Mark and I] had a Vegas wedding, and I firmly believe in the power of Vegas weddings," Ripa told cohost Ryan Seacrest while the two discussed Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner's surprise Sin City nuptials, which took place in May 2019. "And to read this news today, it's all very, like, serendipity." The "Cake By the Ocean" crooner and the Game of Thrones star, for their part, got hitched by an Elvis Presley impersonator following the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. The couple exchanged vows at the Chapel L'Amour inside A Little White Wedding Chapel. On hand for the surprise wedding were Jonas' brothers Nick and his wife, Priyanka Chopra, as well as Kevin and his wife, Danielle Jonas. Though the pair went low-key, their bash was a star-studded event which included Turner walking down the aisle to Dan + Shay performing their song "Speechless." However, there are quite a few tumultuous relationships that have also come out of Las Vegas weddings, including Britney Spears and her childhood friend Jason Alexander as well as many others. Scroll down to see what celebrity couples tied the knot in Vegas! ![]() The couple eloped at a chapel in Sin City in the early hours of April 4, 2022, after Barker performed at the Grammys. They Do! Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker Elope in Las Vegas Posted: 05 Apr 2022 08:20 AM PDT Wedded bliss! Following their whirlwind romance, Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian are husband and wife — exchanging vows in Las Vegas in the early hours of Monday, April 4, after the 2022 Grammys. TMZ reports that the couple presented a marriage license to a chapel owner in Sin City after Barker performed at the awards show. One Love Wedding Chapel owner Marty Frierson subsequently confirmed the news to Us Weekly. “They came on Sunday at 1:45 a.m. We had Elvis Presley. That was the deal sealer. It was an official ceremony,” he told Us. “They came with a license. They called up first and mentioned a celebrity was coming. They made sure we were open and I made them pay online before they got there because I don’t know if it was a scam so they paid online and came in. It takes 30-40 minutes to complete. She got married, danced, threw the bouquet and then went off.” The Blink-182 drummer previously popped the question to the Poosh founder in October 2021 with an elaborate beachfront setup. "The engagement was filmed for the new Hulu series, it's going to look amazing," a source exclusively told Us Weekly of the proposal, which took place at sunset at Rosewood Miramar Beach Hotel in Santa Barbara, California. "Travis spent forever getting the details right. Kourtney was very surprised at the timing. They both have talked about their wedding and engagement before but Kourtney was very surprised." Ahead of his grand gesture, the Meet the Barkers alum asked his love's mom, Kris Jenner, for her blessing. "I'm so excited; he was really cute, he did that [proposal] all on his own," Jenner, 65, said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show later that month. "He did, he's a sweetheart and they're so happy. They can't wait. … I think people at the hotel thought they were setting up for The Bachelorette or something." The Safely founder continued, "Kourtney and Travis, they really are made for each other. They're the cutest couple, they're so in love and, you know, they let us know they're so in love. Constantly." Us Weekly confirmed in January 2021 that the duo were officially a couple. "They have been close friends for years and have been dating for a couple months,” a source explained at the time. "Travis is very smitten with Kourtney and has been for a while." The musician's relationship with the mom of three — she shares Mason, 12, Penelope, 9, and Reign, 7, with ex Scott Disick — continued to heat up as the pair's relationship got more serious as they shared plenty of PDA, met each other’s families and got even closer to one another. "They're very much in love and are deeply connected as a couple," a source previously revealed to Us in July 2021. "Their bond is unbreakable at this point." While the couple's nuptials marked the first time the University of Arizona alum has tied the knot, Barker was previously married to Shanna Moakler from 2004 to 2008. Since their separation, they've continued to coparent son Landon, 18, and daughter Alabama, 16. Alabama later referred to the former Dash owner as her "stepmom" via Instagram Live earlier this year. Shortly after news of the pair’s engagement made headlines, Alabama shared behind-the-scenes snaps from the celebration via Instagram, including one of Kardashian's giant diamond rings, writing, "Love you guys." As the duo's relationship continued to heat up, the former pageant queen, 46, previously told Us that she wasn't "bothered" over their love as long as her children weren't excluded from their lives. "I don't even find [their actions] even scandalous or whatever," Moakler exclusively revealed in May 2021. "Like, if you're in love and you want to show that off, go for it. I don't have any feelings toward either one of them, like, I'm not jealous of them, I don't think about them. If they want to run off into the sunset like by all means, but you know, don't alienate my children in the process." However, after seeing Kravis' True Romance-inspired Halloween costume weeks after the couple's engagement, she was perplexed, even noting via Instagram comment, "It's like an episode of Punk'd," referring to the exes' former bond over the 1993 movie. "What was weird is that they were posting about a movie that Travis and I basically bonded over. I called him Clarence in the movie. We named our daughter after the character Alabama in the movie," the former Miss New York USA previously told Us in May 2021. "I walked down the aisle to 'You're So Cool' from True Romance. Our first dance at our wedding was to the love song from True Romance." |
Chris Rock's Brother Wants Will Smith's Oscar Revoked After Slap Posted: 05 Apr 2022 08:19 AM PDT ![]() Can’t forgive and forget? As the fallout of Will Smith‘s Oscars slap continues, Chris Rock‘s brother Kenny Rock wants more consequences. “It eats at me watching it over and over again because you’ve seen a loved one being attacked and there’s nothing you can do about it,” Kenny, 42, told The Los Angeles Times in an interview published on Monday, April 4, arguing that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences should revoke the Best Actor in a Leading Role trophy from Smith, 53, in the wake of the incident. Kenny continued, “Every time I’m watching the videos, it’s like a rendition that just keeps going over and over in my head. My brother was no threat to him and you just had no respect for him at that moment. You just belittled him in front of millions of people that watch the show. … In my opinion, he embarrassed himself by doing that and his legacy by doing that.” During the 94th annual Academy Awards on March 27, Smith rose out of his seat and slapped the Grown Ups actor, 57, in the face in response to a joke he told about Jada Pinkett Smith‘s shaved head. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum has since issued a public apology to the comedian, who did not press charges after the altercation. On Friday, April 1, Smith announced in a statement that he’s resigning from the Academy following a “disciplinary hearing notice” from the organization. “My actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful, and inexcusable,” the Men in Black actor said, per Variety. “The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home. I betrayed the trust of the Academy. … I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work. I am heartbroken.” Smith noted in his statement that he “will accept any further consequences the Board deems appropriate.” David Rubin, the Academy’s president, later stated that the members will “continue to move forward with our disciplinary proceedings” before a hearing on April 18. Since the shocking awards show moment, Chris has kept relatively quiet, briefly breaking his silence on the situation during a stand-up gig in Boston on Wednesday, March 30. Fellow comedians have defended his Oscars quip, which his brother believes was harmless. “The joke was funny,” Kenny told the L.A. Times. “It wasn’t hilarious funny, but I know that if he knew that she had alopecia … he wouldn't make a joke about that. But he didn’t know.” Pinkett Smith, 50, has been candid about her experience with hair loss due to alopecia through the years. As their family continues to make headlines, the Red Table Talk cohost and her husband are ready to put the situation behind them. “They stick together through thick and thin,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly of Smith and the Girls Trip actress. “They have been through a lot together and this is just another battle for them. … The entire night became about Will and Chris [and] neither of them wanted that. [Jada] hopes that they can move on.” Though the Will author has publicly apologized for his behavior, multiple sources previously confirmed to Us that he has not spoken with Chris privately. Kenny noted in his interview that he doesn’t believe Smith has reached out to his brother. “I don’t accept [the apology] because I don’t think it was genuine,” Kenny told the L.A. Times. “He should have been escorted out of there. I hold them accountable for that. He could have went up there and did anything you wanted to my brother. It could have been much worse than what he did.” |

Celebrities Who Have Been Married Three Times or More Posted: 05 Apr 2022 06:20 AM PDT Wedding dresses, guest lists, nuptials galore! For some celebrities, one, two or even three trips down the aisle isn't enough. David Foster, for his part, opened up about his five marriages overshadowing his career in his July 2020 Netflix documentary, David Foster: Off the Record. "Probably more people know me from reality TV and from being married a lot of times than for my actual music. Well, let's analyze," Foster said in the doc. "Because I was married to Linda who was married to [Caitlyn] Jenner, who then married Kris Kardashian, and had the Jenner kids and the Kardashian kids and then I was married Yolanda Hadid, who had Gigi and Bella, and I was married to Rebecca and B.J., where we had our own daughters, so it's very, very complicated." The Grammy winner was previously married to B.J. Cook from 1972 to 1981, Rebecca Dyer from 1982 to 1986, Linda Thompson from 1991 to 2005 and Hadid from 2011 to 2017. Foster married Katharine McPhee, who is more than 30 years younger than him, in 2019. "She's opinionated, super-talented, and along with that super-talent comes a big brain, and she's got a lot to say," he gushed to Us Weekly in 2020. "It's challenging, but in the best way possible. She has to keep pushing to make me answer things that I don't want to answer, which is great. Her navigation skills are better than anybody's I've ever seen and she's super-evolved." Foster, who has five adult children, added that his family approves of the American Idol alum. "She's really magical and able to float in and out of all the family dynamics," he told Us. "It's amazing to watch because that's a huge talent — being able to navigate my life." Jennifer Lopez, who is set to tie the knot for the fourth time, has also been candid about her failed marriages. “I’ve been married three times: once was nine months and once was 11 months. So I don’t really count those,” the songstress said in a June 2019 YouTube video, referring to ex-husbands Ojani Noa and Cris Judd. “It seems like in this life you’re always surrounded by people so you’re never lonely but it’s very lonely. So I felt like if I got married, then I would always have somebody, but that’s not how life works. That’s not how it goes. It’s bad reason to get married." Lopez gives more credit to her marriage to Marc Anthony. The pair, who were married from 2004 to 2014, share twins Emme and Max. “I was married to Marc for 10 years with the kids. I was very young the first two times I tried to get married — I’m saying tried to get married," she said at the time. While Lopez and fiancé Alex Rodriguez, who proposed in March 2019, were set to wed in 2020, their wedding was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Tarek! Ant! Joshua! Christina Haack’s Dating History Over the Years Posted: 05 Apr 2022 06:12 AM PDT Building her perfect romance! Christina Haack has been open about her ups and downs over the years as she's fallen in and out of love — and gotten married and divorced twice. The Flip or Flop star was vocal about her dating life following her December 2016 split from Tarek El Moussa, but even more so when she Ant Anstead called it quits in September 2020. "I never thought I would have one divorce let alone two. I never thought I would have 2 baby daddies – but sometimes life throws us curveballs," Haack wrote via Instagram at the time. "Instead of getting stuck in these 'setbacks,' I choose to look at these challenges as opportunities to grow. So while some may judge me and throw around rumors about me, most of you support me. And that says a lot about this world and where we are headed." She added: "I'm messy, I'm real and I'm working on healing. I'm surrounded by extremely powerful women who help me cope, build me up and push me to be better." Three months later, the HGTV personality reflected on her life-changing year amid her divorce from the Wheeler Dealers alum. "Grounded and closing out this year with gratitude for new opportunities and adventures," she wrote via social media in December 2020. "Going offline for the remainder of 2020 to stay present in the present." The interior designer has also become a big proponent of celebrating "me time" over the past few years, including Valentine's Day in February 2021. At the time, she shared a quote about self-love via her Instagram Story, proving her self-worth isn't tied to her relationship status. "Heal your past. Love yourself for how far you've come. And live-in gratitude for how much you have," the excerpt read. "It's important to work hard and become the best version of yourself. But having fun, being kind to others and loving yourself is what it comes down to. Always remember that." When going public with her romance with realtor Joshua Hall in July 2021, Haack got real about the hardships that come with loving in the limelight once again. "So called 'fame' provides so many things but it comes with a cost. They build you up then tear you down," she wrote via Instagram during a romantic vacation in Mexico with Hall, claiming the spotlight can "turn new relationships into a circus." She added: "I may be a bit crazy and I'm definitely not perfect, but I will never live my life based on other people's judgments or opinions. So yes, 'another relationship' and guess what. I'm 38 — I'll do what I want." Two months later, the couple announced their engagement while on a trip to Cabos San Lucas, Mexico. News of their wedding broke in April 2022. Two months after confirming her romance with Hall, the Christina on the Coast star announced that she and the California native were engaged. The HGTV personality shared an image of herself and her beau celebrating their betrothal in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with a diamond sparkler visible on her left hand. She captioned the September 2021 snaps with a string of emojis including a heart, ring and the infinity symbol. Haack was previously wed to Anstead, 42, from December 2018 to September 2020. The former spouses, who share son Hudson, 2, finalized their divorce in June 2021. The Wellness Remodel author also shares daughter Taylor, 11, and son Brayden, 6, with ex-husband Tarek El Moussa. The duo split in December 2016 after seven years of marriage. Hall, for his part, was previously married to a woman named Chelsea. They tied the knot in August 2016 and seemingly moved to Austin, Texas, together the year after they wed. ![]() Back in January, Haack clapped back at critics who accused her of moving on too quickly with Hall after her split from Anstead. “Too fast, too soon, too blah blah blah,” she wrote in an Instagram caption on Sunday, January 16. “That feeling of pure bliss / those deep convos, love is what it is. Last year, the home renovator expressed a similar sentiment after going public with Hall. “I will never live my life based on other people's judgments or opinions," she wrote via Instagram in July 2021. "So, yes, 'another relationship' and guess what. I'm 38 — I'll do what I want." |
'Unbreakable'! Will Smith and Jada Are Ready to ‘Move On’ After Oscars Slap Posted: 05 Apr 2022 05:13 AM PDT Staying tough. Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith aren't letting the 2022 Oscars slap scandal affect their relationship "in any way," a source exclusively tells Us Weekly. “They stick together through thick and thin," the insider says. "They have been through a lot together and this is just another battle for them.” The Red Table Talk cohost, 50, "absolutely loves and adores" her husband, 53, despite his controversial actions at the 94th Academy Awards, the source tells Us, noting that they are "an unbreakable couple [that] will be together forever." Smith received backlash last month after he slapped presenter Chris Rock during March 27's Oscars telecast for a joke about Pinkett Smith. After the Saturday Night Live alum, 57, said he was excited to see the Scream 2 actress in a potential G.I. Jane sequel, referring to her bald head, Smith stormed the stage and assaulted Rock. (Pinkett Smith, for her part, has been vocal about suffering from alopecia.) Once the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum returned to his seat, he started shouting at the comedian. "Keep my wife's name out your f—king mouth," Smith yelled twice before a stunned Rock tried to get back to his presenter duties. Later during the show, the King Richard star apologized to The Academy and his fellow actors during his acceptance speech for best actor. At the time, he didn't address Rock. Smith issued a public apology to the Grown Ups actor on March 28 via social media, writing, "Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. … I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. My behavior at last night's Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. … I was out of line and I was wrong." A source later told Us that Smith had not reach out personally to Rock after hitting him on stage. The Men in Black actor, however, has since resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences amid the organization's formal review into the incident. "My actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful, and inexcusable. The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home," Smith said in a statement on Friday, April 1, explaining that he wanted to "put the focus back on those who deserve attention for their achievements." He concluded: "So, I am resigning from membership in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and will accept any further consequences the Board deems appropriate." Rock, for his part, has returned to his comedy tour, starting with a March 30 show in Boston, where he broke his silence over the Oscars scandal for the first time. "I'm still processing what happened," he told the audience at the time. After receiving a standing ovation from the crowd, Rock added, "Y'all are getting me misty eyed and s–t." Pinkett Smith, on the other hand, "wants to just move on," according to the source. "She doesn’t want to be the center of attention, she doesn’t want her husband being the center of attention," the insider tells Us. The Gotham alum, who wed Smith in 1997, was equally as caught off guard by what transpired at the awards show last week, per the source. "This was not how she saw the night going — no one did," the insider adds. "He was winning one of the most important awards of his life and the entire night became about Will and Chris [and] neither of them wanted that. She hopes that they can move on.” With reporting by Diana Cooper |
Jada Pinkett Smith ‘Wishes’ Will Smith Didn’t Slap Chris Rock at Oscars Posted: 04 Apr 2022 05:12 PM PDT
Jada Pinkett Smith is not “angry with” Will Smith after he slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars — but she “wishes he didn’t” get physical with the comedian. “It was in the heat of the moment and it was him overreacting. He knows that, she knows that. They’re in agreement that he overreacted,” a source exclusively tells Us Weekly about where the couple stands now. During the 94th annual Academy Awards, Rock, 57, made a joke about the Girls Trip star’s shaved head. After Pinkett Smith, 50, rolled her eyes at the comment, her husband, 53, approached the stage and slapped the Saturday Night Live alum. "Will Smith just smacked the s—t out of me," the South Carolina native said in censored footage that later circulated online. As he returned to his seat, the Suicide Squad star yelled back at Rock to "keep my wife's name out your f—king mouth.” The Grown Ups star responded that he wouldn’t discuss Pinkett Smith again. The incident came three months after the Scream 2 actress took to social media to address her hair loss as a result of alopecia. "Now at this point, I can only laugh. Y'all know I've been struggling with alopecia and just all of a sudden one day, look at this line right here," she said about her scalp via Instagram in December 2021. "Now this is going to be a little bit more difficult for me to hide, so I thought I'd just share it so y'all not asking any questions — but you know, mama's going to put some rhinestones in there, and I'm going to make me a little crown." Earlier that year, Pinkett Smith gushed about her spouse’s support amid her decision to shave her head. "He loves it," the Maryland native said during a September 2021 episode of Red Table Talk. "It was just time. I was just ready for that kind of expression and release. I'm so glad I did it. It was such a beautiful experience and such a freedom. I feel more connected to myself and to the great diving in a very special way. I was just like, 'I'm over it.' It was that moment. I was just like, 'I'm done. I'm just done with the worry. I'm done with the care. I'm just done.'" According to the insider, the A Different World alum didn’t want Smith to get in an altercation to defend her. “She’s not one of these women that needs protecting. He didn’t need to do what he did, she didn’t need protecting. She’s not a wallflower,” the source shared. “She’s a strong woman, an opinionated woman and she can fight her own battles. But she will stand by him.” ![]() The couple, who have been married since 1997, received support from their loved ones amid the scandal. “They protect their family. They’re all about their family and their kids. They’ve done everything to build this life for themselves,” the source continued about the pair, who share son Jaden, 23, and daughter Willow, 21, together. “They are very much protected in their own lives and do the absolute best they can to protect their loved ones.” Since the incident, Smith issued an apology for the “unacceptable and inexcusable” actions that took place during the awards show. “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness,” he wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, March 28. The I Am Legend star added: “I would also like to apologize to The Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us.” Pinkett Smith, for her part, seemingly reacted to the situation when she shared an Instagram quote on Tuesday, March 29, which read, “This is a season for healing and I’m here for it.” With reporting by Diana Cooper |
Shawn Mendes Teases a Potential Collaboration With Camila Cabello Post-Split Posted: 04 Apr 2022 04:40 PM PDT Working through it. Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello have slowly opened up about their split after calling it quits in the fall of 2021. The "Stitches" crooner and the former Fifth Harmony singer started out as friends in 2014 after they both opened up for Austin Mahone's tour. They collaborated on 2017's "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and later sparked romance speculation when they released their 2019 duet, "Señorita." The pair seemingly confirmed that they were more than just friends in July 2019 after they were spotted making out in the ocean in Miami. More than one year later, the twosome adopted a puppy while living together during the coronavirus pandemic. However, things fizzled out between the pair the following year. The longtime friends announced their split in November 2021 via a joint statement, in which they explained that their "love for one another as humans is stronger than ever." A source exclusively told Us Weekly later that month that the musicians "still have a ton of love and respect for each other" after parting ways. "At this point they've decided they need a break from each other to evaluate where each of them are at. They're not saying never, just not now," the insider said at the time. "It does hurt, but they're both certain this is for the best." The source noted that the attention "became overwhelming" for the duo, especially when they were "getting grilled on how serious they were and whether or not they were going to get engaged." The "Summer of Love" crooner and the former X Factor contestant each released songs that appeared to address the split in the months that followed. It wasn't until March 2022, however, that either artist directly spoke out about the breakup. "I honestly don't care," Mendes told Billboard in an interview published on March 14 when asked about his feelings regarding the intense scrutiny he and Cabello faced during their two-year romance. He later admitted during a studio session that it took him a while before the breakup really hit him. "It's like, 'Oh, I'm on my own now,'" Mendes said via a Twitter video posted on March 18 when explaining the inspiration behind his new music. "You don't realize all the s–t that comes after [the initial split]." Scroll down to see everything Mendes and Cabello have said since parting ways: ![]() “Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever,” the pair wrote via a joint statement shared to their respective Instagram Stories in November 2021. “We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward. Camila and Shawn.” Gustavo Caballero/South Beach Photo/Shutterstock ![]() Mendes seemingly commented on his recent split in his first single post-breakup, “It’ll Be Okay,” which he released in December 2021. “Are we gonna make it? / Is this gonna hurt?” he asked in the melancholy track. “We can try to sedate it / but that never works.” The Grammy nominee continued, “If you tell me you’re leaving / I’ll make it easy / It’ll be okay / If we can’t stop the bleeding / We don’t have to fix it / We don’t have to stay / I will love you either way.” Mendes added that “the future [they] dreamed of is fading to black,” and there was “nothing more painful.” David Fisher/Shutterstock ![]() “As I get older, the priorities shift,” the “Havana” songstress said during a March 2022 interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “And I feel like that was that way for both of us. Because we both started so young too, it’s like we’re really learning how to be healthy adults.” She continued: “My priorities have fluctuated and my focus has changed throughout my life. Those years that we were dating … even while I was writing this album, [Familia], and even still now, I guess my focus is really on, ‘How can I be a well-rounded person?'” Cabello added, “For me, I love Shawn and I feel like there is literally nothing but love for him.” John Angelillo/UPI/Shutterstock ![]() Cabello released her own fresh track in March 2022 called “Bam Bam.” When speaking about her Ed Sheeran collaboration, the Cuban singer seemed to confirm that the song was about her past with Mendes. “This song is mostly just about like, ‘OK, how do I make a song that shows the cycles of love and life and … hopefully this can make you kinda be like, ‘It is that way now, but things are always taking, you know, crazy turns,’” she told Apple Music host Lowe that month. Broadimage/Shutterstock ![]() “A lot of the thing[s] that [are] also resonating in the lyric for me is like, ‘Oh f–k,’ you don’t realize … When you’re, like, breaking up with someone and you think it’s the right thing. You don’t realize all the s--t that comes after it,” Mendes said in March 2022 via a social media clip from his studio sessions, referring to the new music he penned after his split from Cabello. The Canadian crooner continued: “Which is like, ‘Who do I call when I’m in a panic attack? Who do I call when I’m f–king on the edge?’ And I think that’s the reality that kind of hit. It’s like, ‘Oh, I’m on my own now.’ Now I feel like, finally, I’m actually on my own and I hate that, you know? That’s my reality.” Jason Merritt/Radarpics/Shutterstock ![]() "I wrote this song about a month after Camila and I broke up," Mendes told Extra of his single "When You're Gone," which dropped in April 2022. "A month later, you kind of start having all the memories of things that happened, and all the memories of so many amazing things. ... And I was writing about that." Mendes said he wanted to be as "open and candid" as possible with his fans. "I'm really glad I did," he added. "Because I think that's the only way that you get to you get to connect with people. There's only one way you can connect with actual people in a real way. And that's by being truthful and being vulnerable. ... If you can kind of reel people in with the sonic of the song, then they'll be listening on their own time, maybe. And then the lyrics will maybe head a little deeper." Cabello even got a heads-up about the track. "Camila and I have always been writers for as long as we've known each other, so we understand what that means," Mendes said. "And we respect what that means. And there'll always be transparency between us." Shutterstock (2) ![]() In April 2022, the Canadian singer spoke about giving himself "grace" as he copes with his breakup. "I think a big one for me was realizing that there's so many people in my life that I can rely on," he said on Sirius XM's The Morning Mash Up, adding that he doesn't want to be "too hard" on himself post-split. "I don't just have to put all of my, you know, hardship onto one person." Mendes also confessed that meditation has been a big help for him, noting, "I think the thing that I don't touch on enough is how extreme my anxiety was at one point in my life and my anxiety was completely controlling my life. ... Truly the one thing that changed my life and changed the trajectory of my life was meditation." Stephen Lovekin/Shutterstock ![]() During an interview in April 2022, Mendes noted that he wouldn't rule out appearing in a future performance with his ex-girlfriend. "I wouldn't be surprised. I wouldn't put it past us," he told Ryan Seacrest about the former couple's plans to make cameos during each other's sets at iHeartRadio's upcoming Wango Tango concert. "I've loved Camila for so many years, and that's never going to change." Image Press Agency/NurPhoto/Shutterstock |
PDA Alert? Kristin Cavallari and Tyler Cameron Make Out at Photo Shoot Posted: 04 Apr 2022 04:06 PM PDT High drama in the desert! Kristin Cavallari recently teamed up with Tyler Cameron for a photo shoot — and the duo got very close in the process. The Hills alum, 35, and the former Bachelorette contestant, 29, were spotted making out while shooting a campaign for Cavallari’s clothing and jewelry line Uncommon James on Monday, April 4. The Colorado native wore a flowy dress with Western-inspired accessories, while the You Deserve Better author was dressed casually in a rumpled T-shirt and jeans. In one snap, the twosome embraced after staring at each other from across the set, with Cameron wrapping his arms around Cavallari’s waist. At one point, the Very Cavallari alum seemingly stood on her tiptoes to kiss the Florida native. ![]() The Balancing in Heels author is in the midst of a divorce from her estranged husband, Jay Cutler, with whom she shares sons Camden, 9, and Jaxon, 7, and daughter Saylor, 6. The pair called it quits in April 2020 but have not yet finalized their split. Earlier this month, Cavallari revealed that she’s ready to start dating again after spending the last two years on her own. "I've honestly needed the past 2 years to work through some heavy stuff,” she said during an Instagram Q&A session on Saturday, April 2. “I dated a little here and there but no one serious. I am finally in a place where I'm ready for a relationship." The Laguna Beach alum has been linked to comedian Jeff Dye and singer Chase Rice since her split. During a January episode of Summer House, Craig Conover claimed that he and Cavallari hooked up last summer, but the cookbook author denied those claims. At one point, Cavallari also gave her relationship with Cutler, 38, another shot. ![]() "Jay and I actually went on a couple of dates, like, months and months and months ago," the Uncommon Beauty founder said during an October 2021 episode of Kaitlyn Bristowe‘s “Off the Vine” podcast. "They are coparenting well — he just wishes they were still together," the source explained. "He deeply cares about her." Cameron, for his part, was most recently linked to Camila Kendra. The Bachelor Nation star and the model, 27, called it quits in August 2021 after eight months of dating. "Things were going well until they weren't," an insider exclusively told Us at the time. "Friends were surprised things ended so quickly." |
Idris Elba Reveals '90s Rap Hit Meghan Markle Requested at Harry Wedding Posted: 04 Apr 2022 04:04 PM PDT Forgot about Dre? Meghan Markle certainly remembered the hip-hop icon at her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry — even requesting one of his biggest hits with Ludacris at the reception. “What is the vibe of a Harry and Meghan wedding? What tune was the one that got everyone going crazy?" BBC’s “1Xtra Rap” host Tiffany Calver asked Idris Elba, who provided some entertainment at the royal wedding by DJing a set at the couple's private evening reception. (The Duke and Duchess of Sussex respectively, had an afternoon reception as well.) While Whitney Houston‘s “I Want to Dance with Somebody” was a favorite — the guests "went off" when the track came on, the Wire alum, 49, told the radio show on Saturday, April 2 — it was Dr. Dre's "Still D.R.E." featuring the "Move Bitch" rapper that was specifically requested by the duchess. “It was Meghan’s choice,” the Guardians of the Galaxy star revealed. Meghan, 40, and Harry's lavish affair incorporated music throughout the entire day of festivities. The ceremony, which took place at George's Chapel in Windsor, featured a gospel choir singing Ben E. King's "Stand by Me" and "This Little Light of Mine," as well as an orchestra that played multiple classical pieces. Elton John performed for the newlyweds at the first reception. Prior to Harry, 37, and Meghan's nuptials in May 2018, a source told Us Weekly exclusively that the actress was planning on incorporating her roots into the celebration. "Meghan is keen to include some American traditions in this wedding," the insider noted in January 2018. Fitting, then, was the Suits alum's request for Dr. Dre and Ludacris, particularly since the Beats by Dre founder hails from California. (Meghan also grew up in The Golden State.) ![]() Though the rappers weren't on hand to perform the song at the royal reception, they did reunite on stage four years later and perform the hit at the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show in February — which Harry attended with his cousin Princess Eugenie. For her part, Meghan has been vocal about her favorite artists before. In a 2017 post on her since-defunct blog The Tig, the Bench author revealed a playlist of songs she was listening to at the moment, which included musicians such as Maggie Rogers and Janelle Monáe. However, now that the royal couple are parents to Archie, 2, and Lilibet, 10 months, it looks like their playlists have changed a little. After leading a group of school kids in a rendition of "Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" in November 2021, Harry and Meghan remarked, per Marie Claire, that the children's tune is one of Archie's favorites. |
Who Is Lexi Sundin? 5 Things to Know About Summer House’s Andrea’s GF Posted: 04 Apr 2022 03:43 PM PDT Falling in love! Andrea Denver had to push through a Summer House love triangle with Paige DeSorbo and Craig Conover to realize that he already met his perfect match in former flame Lexi Sundin. The 30-year-old reality star caught fans' attention in October 2021 when he joined the cast of Winter House, which filmed in February of that year. During season 1 of the series, the Italy native quickly fell for DeSorbo, 29. While the twosome kept in touch on and off after filming the Vermont-based show in early 2021, by the time they started shooting Summer House season 6 in July of that year, things had shifted. Denver had started to see Sundin in April 2021, but as things were starting to heat up between them, the Bravo star was preparing to reunite with DeSorbo in the Hamptons for Summer House's three-month shoot. "We never were official. … Feelings were maturing, but at the same time, I knew that I was going to the Hamptons. I knew that that was coming up and it was kind of, like, I was excited," Denver exclusively told Us Weekly in March about the beginning of his relationship with Sundin, 27. Denver noted that although he had the "same feelings" toward Sundin as she did for him before summer 2021, he "didn't have the courage to manifest those feelings [or] tell those things back [to her]." Sundin proceeded to call off their brief romance after calling Denver out for "putting a wall [up]" between them. The split resulted in the TV personality being single when he reconnected with DeSorbo in the Hamptons that summer. The "Giggly Squad" podcast cohost, for her part, had started casually seeing Conover, 33, in spring 2021, but that didn't stop her from flirting with Denver at their joint summer vacation house. The reality TV love triangle, however, eventually fizzled out — which fans saw play out on screen during season 6. While DeSorbo got serious with the Southern Charm star in the months that followed, Denver realized he wanted to give his relationship with Sundin a real shot. The pair rekindled their romance in November 2021, according to Denver. His commitment to Sundin eventually became part of the reason why he isn't returning for season 2 of Winter House. "I didn’t feel like it was the right time for me [to leave to film the show]," he told Us in March. "I reconnected with a person that really matters to me and she was my priority. I feel like it was too soon to go on vacation with my friends." The University of Verona alum confessed that he was going to "miss" the Winter House crew, but instead of sulking, he jetted off with Sundin for a romantic trip of their own. "I ended up going on vacation for a while with my girlfriend and we had the best time," he added. "I’m happy went that way. … Things have been great. I’m really happy." Pete Davidson Was 'Overjoyed' to Introduce Kim Kardashian to His Family Posted: 04 Apr 2022 03:23 PM PDT ![]() A major milestone! Pete Davidson took his relationship with Kim Kardashian to another level — meeting the family. According to a source, Davidson, 28, “couldn’t wait” to introduce Kardashian, 41, to his grandparents during a recent trip to New York City. “It was definitely [the] next step in their relationship, and he’s overjoyed with getting to introduce his family to Kim,” the insider exclusively told Us Weekly. The Skims founder originally sparked romance rumors with Davidson after they worked together during her Saturday Night Live hosting debut in October 2021. Earlier that year, Kardashian filed for divorce from Kanye West after nearly seven years of marriage. The former couple share North, 8, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 2. The SNL star, meanwhile, has grown close to his girlfriend’s loved ones as well. Late last month, a second source revealed that Scott Disick had “taken a liking” to Davidson because of “how happy he makes” the KKW founder. “He’s glad he has another male to lean on when it comes to the Kardashians,” the insider told Us about the Talentless cofounder, 38, who shares three kids with his ex Kourtney Kardashian. “Scott is protective of Kim and wants to make sure whoever she’s dating that she’s in good hands.” Kim, for her part, recently gushed about her new man after being declared legally single. "I have the cutest pictures of us and I want to be like, 'Oh, we're so cute!’" she said about her bond with Davidson during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on March 16. "I don't know what the right thing to do is. I haven't dated since before Instagram existed. I don't know what the rules are [when it comes to posting a new relationship]." The businesswoman also opened up about how devoted Davidson is to their relationship. “He has a few tattoos, a few cute ones that he got [for me],” she shared at the time, adding that the Meet Cute actor got “branded” on his chest. “I think he was just like, ‘I want something that’s there, that I can’t get rid of [it like] my tattoos. [He] just wanted it there as like, a scar.” That same month, Kim teased that fans might get to see her dynamic with the comedian play out on her upcoming reality series. “I have not filmed with [Pete]. And I’m not opposed to it. It’s just not what he does. But if there was an event happening and he was there, he wouldn’t tell the cameras to get away,” she told Variety. “I think I might film something really exciting coming, but it wouldn’t be for this season.” With reporting by Diana Cooper |
Color-Coded Sweats! See Pete Davidson's Super Organized Closet Posted: 04 Apr 2022 02:32 PM PDT Spring cleaning. Pete Davidson got his closet in tip-top shape with help from professional organizers — and the result is a color-coordinated collection of his favorite things. Spiff Organizing, which serves customers in New York, Florida and California, helped the Saturday Night Live star, 28, get his sweats together. The large walk-in closet had dark shelves that inspired the professionals when they had to find storage options. “We tied in the black shelving with some black sustainable storage boxes The Spiff team treated Davidson’s clothes with care as they arranged his closet into separate sections and organized them by color. The actor is known for his casual attire and his T-shirts were hung in one area while sweatshirts and matching joggers hung parallel in another section. Black sweats were folded neatly on shelves, and bulky items were stored on the top shelf. The newly-organized space also displayed his Louis Vuitton luggage, giving the King of Staten Island star easy access for whenever he has to jet across the country. It’s a necessity since he is often flying from his native New York City to Los Angeles to visit girlfriend Kim Kardashian. Davidson started dating the KKW Beauty founder, 41, in fall 2021 after she hosted SNL and the pair have kept a relatively low profile since. Kardashian only shared her first Instagram post with her new beau in March. "I have the cutest pictures of us and I want to be like, 'Oh, we're so cute!’" Kardashian said during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show later that month. "I don't know what the right thing to do is. I haven't dated since before Instagram existed. I don't know what the rules are [when it comes to posting a new relationship]." Davidson won’t be on the first season of her new Hulu reality show, The Kardashians, which will debut on April 14. "I have not filmed with [Pete]," she told Variety last month. "And I'm not opposed to it. It's just not what he does. But if there was an event happening and he was there, he wouldn't tell the cameras to get away. I think I might film something really exciting coming, but it wouldn't be for this season." Though he isn’t filming the new series with her, the comedian has made quite a few visits to the west coast. During his trips to bond with his girlfriend, Davidson has developed a friendship with Scott Disick, Kourtney Kardashian‘s ex (and father of their children Mason, 12, Penelope, 9, and Reign, 7.) Last month, a source revealed exclusively to Us Weekly that Davidson and Disick had "become friends" while the Talentless founder, 38, was evaluating the new man in Kim’s life. "Scott has gotten the chance to bond with him over these past few months since Pete has been spending a lot of time in LA with Kim," the insider said.
