Will Smith's Inner Circle: A Look at His Close Celeb Pals After Oscars Slap Posted: 12 Apr 2022 09:44 AM PDT People he can rely on. Will Smith is facing backlash after slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars, but he’s been building these friendships for years. Denzel Washington immediately consoled Smith after the Ali star slapped Rock for making a quip about Jada Pinkett Smith‘s hair loss a the awards show on March 27. (She suffers from alopecia.) Smith marched up to the stage and smacked the Everybody Hates Chris star. "Keep my wife's name out your f—king mouth," the actor yelled after returning to his seat. Washington was among the first to speak with Smith after the incident, and The scandal-ridden star even name-dropped the legendary star during his Best Actor acceptance speech later that night. “I know to do what we do, you gotta be able to take abuse, and you gotta be able to have people talk crazy about you,” Smith said while accepting the Oscar for his role in King Richard. “In this business, you gotta be able to have people disrespecting you and you gotta smile and you gotta pretend like that's OK.” He continued, “Denzel said to me a few minutes ago, he said, ‘At your highest moment, be careful. That's when the devil comes for you.’ It's, like, I want to be a vessel for love.” A week later, on April 2, Washington addressed the controversy during a panel at the T.D. Jakes Leadership Summit. "There's a saying when the devil ignores you, then you know you're doing something wrong," the Tragedy of Macbeth actor said. "The devil goes, 'Oh no leave him alone, he's my favorite.' Conversely, when the devil comes at you, maybe it's because he's trying to do something right. And for whatever reason, the devil got a hold of him that night." Washington added that he couldn’t ignore what had just taken place. “No way I could have sat in my seat," he explained. "That's just not who I am. … Fortunately, there were people there, not just me but others, [like] Tyler Perry, came immediately right over there with me." Perry also has a long history with Smith. The Men in Black actor brought him along on his international press tour for Seven Pounds in 2008 to show him how to sell a film overseas. When the Madea creator opened Tyler Perry Studios a decade later, a soundstage at the 330-acre Atlanta studio was officially named in honor of Smith. Scroll down for a look inside Smith’s inner circle: ![]() “Throughout the years, I would always call Denzel," Smith told GQ in September 2021. "He’s a real sage. I was probably 48 or something like that and I called Denzel. He said, ‘Listen. You’ve got to think of it as the funky 40. Everybody’s 40s are funky.’ He said, ‘But just wait till you hit the f—k -it 50s,’ ” Smith told me. “He said, ‘Just bear with your 40s.’ I stopped and I was like, ‘The funky 40s and the f—k-it 50s.’ And that’s exactly what happened. It just became the f—k-it 50s, and I gave myself the freedom to do whatever I wanted to do.” Myung Chun/Los Angeles Times/Shutterstock ![]() When Smith's memoir Will was released in November 2021, Perry shared a photo of the book via Instagram. "I can’t wait to read every word. After all these years this man still inspires me on every level!! Thank you @willsmith for this glimpse of truth," he captioned the snap. Myung Chun/Los Angeles Times/Shutterstock ![]() The DJ (a.k.a. Jeffrey Allen Townes) and Smith were known as the hip-hop duo DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. While their last album was released in 1993, they remain close. In 2019, Smith celebrated his birthday by joining Townes on stage in Budapest to perform their greatest hits. "Me and DJ Jazzy Jeff got started in Philly over 30 years ago," Smith told the audience. "There has never been a time in my life when I didn’t look to the side and have a great friend, and it is so important who your friends are. And DJ Jazzy Jeff, for more than half of my life, has been one of the best friends I've ever had in this world." In April 2022, Jeff defended his friend's behavior at the Oscars during an interview with Chicago radio station 107.5 WCGI. "Don't get it twisted that this was something that he was proud of. It was a lapse in judgment," the producer said. "I think the thing that I've realized is I don't know too many people that has had the least amount of lapse of judgment than him. I can name 50 times that he should've smacked the s–t out of somebody and he didn't. So, for him to have a lapse in judgment, he's human. And I think a lot of the criticism comes from the people who don't think people like that are human." While promoting the third installment in January 2020, Lawrence raved about his costar. "I love this guy. I don't get to see him much because he's working all the time, but I love him. We're the best of friends," Lawrence said during an appearance on "Sway's Universe." Smith replied, "This dude right here is one of the most honest and generous and caring people I've ever met." Lawrence supported Smith after the Oscars, writing via Instagram, "Congratulations to my brotha Will on taking home the Oscar!" Schneider-Press/John Farr/SIPA/Shutterstock |
LeAnn Rimes Opens Up About Being 'Connected' to Eddie's Ex Brandi Glanville Posted: 12 Apr 2022 09:39 AM PDT ![]() Getting to a better place. LeAnn Rimes offered an update on her current relationship with Eddie Cibrian‘s ex-wife, Brandi Glanville — and it sounds like the twosome have paved the way for a fresh start. “Oh, I love her! I mean I do. I love her. We get along very well. She’s fun. We have a great time at all the holidays,” Rimes, 39, exclusively told Us Weekly at the 2022 CMT Music Awards on Monday, April 11. “We are connected through the boys and we have great respect for one another.” The country singer’s past feud with Glanville, 49, originally made headlines in 2009. At the time, Us broke the news that Rimes and Cibrian, 48, were having an affair after meeting on the set of Northern Lights. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, who shares two sons Mason, 18, and Jake, 15, with the Take Two alum, finalized her divorce from Cibrian in October 2010. Rimes, for her part, called it quits with then-husband Dean Sheremet. Following their 2011 nuptials, the songwriter and the Sunset Beach alum found themselves in a public feud with Glanville for years. The reality star later revealed that the trio had worked out their differences after over a decade of tumultuous communication. "I think our kids had a lot to do with it because the kids love when we’re all together, and it’s so obvious. They’re so happy. They’re giddy little creatures," Glanville said on the "Hollywood Raw" podcast in June 2021. "The truth is LeAnn and I get along really well." While walking the red carpet at the CMTs on Monday, Rimes also reflected on the secret to her successful marriage. “Growth and being there for one another through everything. I mean we both are and he’s so patient and I’m really, really grateful for him, truly,” she gushed. “I’m going to start crying.” The Mississippi native noted that her peaceful life with Cibrian is a major reason why they wouldn’t consider doing another reality show. “Our life is so calm and we really you know, we enjoy our life outside of all of this and I think that’s one the proudest things for us as a couple is that we built a life outside of the business and it’s very calm,” Rimes, who appeared on VH1’s short-lived LeAnn & Eddie series in 2014, shared with Us. “We like the calm.” The California native, for his part, previously discussed “other genres” that would allow for the pair to appear in a TV project together. “Maybe there’s, like, something for HGTV or something in those lines, you know?” Cibrian said on the “Watch With Us” podcast in March 2021. “Maybe go helping other people do certain things or stuff like that. Maybe come up with some ideas and produce some stuff.” Rimes, however, is currently staying focused on her music as she prepares for her upcoming album, God’s Work, to be released. “I really took a look at the duality of life — the light and the dark of everything. And for me, knowing that everything is working out in all of our best interests and everything is God’s work,” she explained on Monday. “It’s a powerful record. I think I touched upon every emotion you could possibly feel in this record and it’s very expansive, I guess, is the word I would use.” With reporting by Diana Cooper |
'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' Cast Weighs In on Will Smith Slapping Chris Rock Posted: 12 Apr 2022 09:34 AM PDT Sharing their thoughts. Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars ignited a conversation — including from the Philadelphia native’s The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air costars. During the 94th annual Academy Awards on March 27, Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith where he joked about her joining G.I. Jane 2. The Girls Trip actress, who previously revealed that she has alopecia, rolled her eyes at the comment about her shaved head. In response, her husband walked up to the stage and slapped the comedian. "Will Smith just smacked the s—t out of me," the South Carolina native said in censored footage that later circulated online. The King Richard star returned to his seat while yelling at Rock multiple times to "keep my wife's name out your f—king mouth.” After winning the award for best actor later that night, Smith addressed the shocking situation in his emotional acceptance speech. "I'm being called on in my life to love people and to protect people and to be a river to my people. I know to do what we do, you got to be able to take abuse,” he said at the time. “You got to be able to have people talk crazy about you. In this business you got to be able to have people disrespecting you. And you got to smile, you got to pretend like that's OK." The Suicide Squad actor also apologized to Rock directly on social media, writing via Instagram, “I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.” Pinkett Smith, for her part, seemingly reacted to the incident when she shared an Instagram quote, which read, “This is a season for healing and I’m here for it.” Amid major backlash, Smith received support from his family and former cast members. Janet Hubert, who was previously in a feud with Smith, praised the I Am Legend actor for his accomplishment at the Oscars. "There is only so much one can take … sometimes you have to slap back. Celebrate the win … nothing else matters,” she wrote via Instagram on March 28. The social media support came after Smith and Hubert discussed their past issues during the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air HBO Max special. “We never really publicly talk about Janet and what happened,” the Gemini Man star said in November 2020 before hugging the Chicago native who originated the role of Aunt Viv. “For me, it felt like I couldn’t celebrate 30 years of Fresh Prince without finding a way to celebrate Janet. So she agreed to sit down and have a conversation with me. And Janet and I saw one another for the first time in 27 years yesterday.” At the time, Hubert got candid about the difficulties she was dealing with ahead of her departure in 1993. “During that third season when I got pregnant, there [were] a lot of things going on in my life and Will’s life as well,” she recalled during a talk with Smith. “Home life was not good at all. I was no longer laughing, smiling, joking because there were things going on that nobody knew about. [The] cast had no idea what was going on.” Smith admitted that he would have approached the situation “very differently” if he had the knowledge he has now, saying, “I can see where I made the set very difficult for Janet.” Scroll down for everything past and present Fresh Prince of Bel-Air stars have said about Smith’s altercation: ![]() DJ Jazzy Jeff, who recorded music with Smith and appeared as Jazz on Fresh Prince, defended his former costar during an April interview with Chicago radio station 107.5 WCGI. Ken McKay/ITV/Shutterstock ![]() In February 2022, Smith teamed up with Peacock on a reboot of the original Fresh Prince of Bel-Air show. After scoring the role of Will Smith in Bel-Air, Banks applauded the executive producer for his "incredible" acceptance speech at the Oscars. "It’s what he said, you have to protect your family," Banks told Entertainment Tonight at Vanity Fair's annual Oscars party on March 27. "I believe in him, and what he stands for. He’s a standup guy. I’ll stick by him." Banks also pointed out that it was important to celebrate Smith's win instead of the incident on stage. "When he won it, it was such an emotional moment in general,” he added about Smith winning his first Oscar. "I knew it was him. I already said, it’s already written. I believed it and he manifested it. And his work has proved it throughout the years. He deserved it." Earl Gibson III/Shutterstock |
Gayle King Is 'Pulling' for Chris Rock After Oscars Slap: It 'Makes Me Sad' Posted: 12 Apr 2022 08:59 AM PDT The slap heard 'round the world. Will Smith stunned the star-studded audience — and everyone watching at home — when he took to the stage and smacked Chris Rock across the face after the comedian made a "joke" about Jada Pinkett Smith's hair loss at the 2022 Oscars on Sunday, March 27. "Jada, I love you," the comedian said from the stage, quipping, "G.I. Jane 2, can't wait to see it," referring to the actress' buzzed head, as G.I. Jane star Demi Moore wore a similar style. (Pinkett Smith, 50, has often been open about losing her hair due to alopecia.) As the camera cut to the Smiths, the King Richard star, 53 — who later won the Oscar for best actor — seemed to smile at Rock's joke, while Pinkett Smith intensely rolled her eyes. Though it initially seemed that Smith was OK with the quip, he quickly walked onstage and slapped the Longest Yard actor, 57, across the face. Once he returned to his seat, he yelled, "Keep my wife's name out of your f–king mouth.” "Wow. Will Smith just smacked the s–t outta me," Rock said to the audience before returning to handing out the award for best documentary. For his part, the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum later referenced — and apologized for — the altercation in his speech when accepting his Oscar for King Richard. ![]() "Oh, man. Richard Williams was a fierce defender of his family," Smith said, relating his behavior to that of Serena and Venus Williams' father, the role he played in the film. "I'm being called on in my life to love people and to protect people and to be a river to my people. I know to do what we do, you got to be able to take abuse. You got to be able to have people talk crazy about you. In this business you got to be able to have people disrespecting you. And you got to smile, you got to pretend like that's OK." The 7 Pounds actor also apologized to several people for his behavior — though not explicitly to Rock. "I want to apologize to the academy. I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees," he added. "Art imitates life: I look like the crazy father. Just like they said about Richard Williams. But love will make you do crazy things." He later apologized directly to the presenter the following day in a lengthy statement. “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris,” Smith wrote via Instagram on March 28. “I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.” Stars who were both in attendance and watching at home had a lot to say about the drama — from Rock's "joke" to Smith's slap. Scroll below to see how celebrities reacted to the incident: ![]() "I think the whole thing is so unfortunate," the journalist told Entertainment Tonight while attending the 2022 CMT Music Awards in April. "I think there have to be consequences to your actions. I have no idea what's right [or] what's wrong, I don't. But the whole thing makes me so sad, because I like them both." King said that she's "pulling" for Rock, adding, "I just want him to be fine. And it seems Will is very regretful and very remorseful, and that's an important first step." John Amis/AP/Shutterstock ![]() "I've worked with him, he is not that guy," the Bad Boys director told Yahoo Entertainment of Smith, confessing that he thought the slap was a bit at first. "I've never seen him lose his cool like that. I thought it was set up 'cause I saw the smirk, and I've been on set when Will screws with people, when he's joking with people." Bay said that Smith's reaction was "wrong," but also noted that there are bigger issues in the world that deserve attention. "But that's all people are talking about," he added. "And I don’t really care. Hollywood gets really self-absorbed. There are babies getting blown up in Ukraine right now. We should be talking about that." Matt Baron/Shutterstock ![]() Radcliffe declined to weigh in on the situation during his Thursday, March 31, appearance on Good Morning Britain. "I’m just so already dramatically bored of hearing people’s opinions about it that I just don’t want to be another opinion adding to it," the Harry Potter star explained. He did, however, sympathize with everyone in the audience that night who witnessed the uncomfortable moment, adding, "When you’re going on stuff as a kid you’re never quite sure if the joke’s with you or you’re the butt of the joke. So you sort of have a mode of just being like, ‘I’ll just keep smiling and laughing and maybe it’ll end soon.'” Anthony Harvey/Shutterstock ![]() The Summer of Soul producer — who took home the Best Documentary Feature trophy alongside Questlove — slammed both Smith and Rock for overshadowing the exciting moment in a series of since-deleted tweets on Thursday. When the film was announced as the winner, the comedian said the award would go to "Questlove and four white guys," when in fact it went to the Roots frontman, Patel, Robert Fyvolent and David Dinerstein, only the latter two of whom are white. "The reason that makes me SO SO VERY ANGRY is because I was so proud to be one of a handful of South Asians to have ever won an Oscar in the history of the award," Patel wrote via Twitter, adding that he was also the third South Asian artist to win that night. "That's never happened before! And it's meaningful! It's history!" Though he acknowledged that Rock was in a stressful situation when he made the quip, Patel still shared his frustration with the entire incident, noting, "I'm angry. Angry at Will Smith. Angry at Chris Rock. Angry for me. Angry for Ahmir. Angry for my fellow filmmakers." Kristina Bumphrey/Shutterstock ![]() “When Will Smith stormed onto the Oscar stage to strike Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife’s short hair, he did a lot more damage than just to Rock’s face,” the NBA legend wrote via a Substack essay on Monday, March 28. “With a single petulant blow, he advocated violence, diminished women, insulted the entertainment industry, and perpetuated stereotypes about the Black community.” He continued: “I don’t want to see [Smith] punished or ostracized because of this one, albeit a big one, mistake. I just want this to be a cautionary tale for others not to romanticize or glorify bad behavior. And I want Smith to be the man who really protects others — by admitting the harm he’s done to others.” Stewart Cook/Shutterstock ![]() “He loves his wife. It’s a bad example for America.” John Salangsang/Shutterstock ![]() "Here's a picture of my dress at the show where we are apparently assaulting people on stage now," the Batman star captioned a red carpet photo via Instagram on Tuesday, March 29. "I think most people just wondered if it was like a bit or a joke, if it was fake. I think pretty quickly we realized it was serious." The ABC personality noted that the situation was "unfortunate" on several levels. "Chris Rock is there to be a comedian. He tells jokes, obviously, you know, there's always going to be some at the expense of people. ... Everyone has a right to feel though how they feel, and we have our hurt feelings, but how we handle our hurt feelings matters," Viall told Us. "I don't know if Will handled it the best. But his performance [in King Richard] was amazing. Congrats to him for winning the Oscar, certainly well-deserved in his performance. It just — I feel like it took away from his moment. Rihanna Reveals How ASAP Rocky Made It Out of the 'Friend Zone' Posted: 12 Apr 2022 08:56 AM PDT Must be love on the brain! Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have spent years denying that their relationship is anything but platonic, but things finally changed when the rapper called her “the love of my life” in 2021. After more than a year of rumors, the “Peso” artist confirmed in a May interview with GQ that he was dating the Fenty Beauty founder and called her “The One.” One month earlier, a source told Us Weekly that the pair were spotted “holding hands and laughing” during a night out in Los Angeles. "It's obvious they're a couple and also are each other's best friend," the insider added. "They kid around a lot [and] laugh a lot. They have private date nights together a lot and have a blast hanging out together." The duo made their red carpet debut in December 2019 at the Fashion Awards in London, but at the time, Rihanna was fresh off her breakup with ex-boyfriend Hassan Jameel, with whom she was first linked in 2017. "Rihanna and A$AP are hanging out and hooking up," a source told Us in February 2020. "They're having fun and have always had chemistry." Fans of the musicians first started hoping for a love connection between the twosome when they teamed up in 2012 for a flirtatious performance at the MTV Video Music Awards and A$AP jumped on a remix of Rihanna’s “Cockiness (Love It).” A few months later, the New York native paid tribute to his friend with a shoutout in his song “Fashion Killa,” from his January 2013 album, Long. Live. A$AP., but by February, he was linked to model Chanel Iman. The former pair got engaged in April 2014 but split for good in October of that year. Rihanna, meanwhile, was pursuing a relationship with Drake, whom she dated off and on from 2009 to 2016. The duo collaborated on several songs together — including “Work” from her 2016 album, Anti, and “Too Good” from his 2016 LP, Views — but called it quits for good in October of that year. "She doesn't want to be held down," a source told Us at the time. "They will always be close,” added another insider. “If they end up together, it could happen, but not now." It’s apparently not happening in 2021, either, because the Ocean’s 8 star seems to be going strong with A$AP. "A$AP has been very into Rihanna for years,” a source told Us in December 2020, adding that the “Umbrella” singer “kept him in the friend zone” for a while. "Things changed over the summer and they finally hooked up. They've been together ever since." Matt Baron/Shutterstock ![]() "People don't get out of the friend zone very easily with me," Rihanna told Vogue in her May 2022 cover story, reflecting on the early days of her romance with the rapper. "And I certainly took a while to get over how much I know him and how much he knows me because we also know how much trouble we can land each other in." Looking back on the duo's 2012 VMAs performance, Rihanna recalled, "He grabbed my ass on stage. That was not part of the rehearsal! I was like, 'What are you doing!?' ... [After it happened], my manager was like, 'Oh, God, she must like this guy a little bit. She never lets this s--t slide.'" Things quickly became serious between the couple during the coronavirus pandemic as they embarked on a cross-country road trip. "He became my family in that time," she told the outlet, also describing the pair's visit to her family in Barbados. "My mother has a really good read on people. She observes first and then she'll move slowly. I guess I'm like that too. There are some guys that I've dated that she won't even look at to this day. But she was charmed by him from the jump." Lala Kent Cuts Ties With Tom Schwartz for Hanging Out With Randall Emmett Posted: 12 Apr 2022 08:33 AM PDT ![]() The plot continues to thicken — if Bravo brings back Vanderpump Rules for season 10. While reflecting on her castmates’ reactions to her split from Randall Emmett, Lala Kent called out the Toms for their lack of support. "I would say the most supportive, Katie and Scheana," the 31-year-old Give Them Lala author said on the Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen aftershow on Monday, April 11, referring to Katie Maloney and Scheana Shay. "The least supportive, [Tom] Sandoval has yet to even ask me, like, if I'm OK or acknowledged it at all. And I learned that [Tom] Schwartz hung out with that person the other day, so I cut him out." Kent, who accused Emmett of being unfaithful during their relationship, noted that she's "not the type of person to say, like, 'You have to pick a side,' but in this situation, if you don't pick my side or you remain Switzerland, like, I want nothing to do with you." When Andy Cohen brought up a revelation made by Lisa Vanderpump at the season 9 reunion regarding the 51-year-old producer, Kent wasn't convinced the SUR boss was in touch with him anymore. "I don't know if she's seen him recently," she said. "I know when everything was happening, he was trying to reach out to her." Kent and Emmett, who share 13-month-old daughter Ocean, called it quits in October 2021. She has since alleged that he cheated on her when she was pregnant, but he has yet to publicly comment on the claims. More recently in the Pump Rules universe, Schwartz, 39, and Maloney, 35, called it quits, with the former SURver filing for divorce earlier this month. "I think when someone continues to not pick you and it's an easy pick — you're the wife — then it's like, 'We're good on you,'" Kent told Cohen about their split. When asked whether she was "surprised" by the divorce news, the "Give Them Lala" podcast host replied, "Yeah, I thought that Schwartz would come to the table a little bit and he still didn't, so very telling." Unlike her relationship with Emmett, Kent added that the group hasn't been forced to choose between the pair, who are still living together as they prepare to sell their home. "I don't feel like any of us have chosen sides, it wasn't messy, but, obviously, if we had to choose sides then I would always pick Katie," Kent told Cohen. Maloney, for her part, gave a new interview about the breakup earlier this week. "He didn’t really even know what that looked like — working on things. I think in his mind [it] was just like, 'OK, well, I think this will be a passing thing for her. She just needed to get something out.' I think he thought that I was just going to get over it or something," she said on the "We Met At Acme" podcast of informing Schwartz she was unhappy in their marriage. "And then it was a couple of weeks later, I had decided that I wanted to get a divorce. … I think he recognized that I was serious, and I meant it and that there wasn’t anything in the moment that he could do — even though he didn’t necessarily agree with it or want it — but he wasn’t going to fight me on it." |
Ryan Sutter: I'm 'In a Much Better Place' 2 Years Into Health Battle Posted: 12 Apr 2022 08:32 AM PDT ![]() Making strides. Ryan Sutter reflected on the “overwhelming” attention he’s received since opening up about his health struggles — and shared how he’s staying positive amid his Lyme disease battle. The former Bachelorette star, 47, looked back on his journey in a lengthy Instagram caption on Monday, April 11, alongside a photo of bees. “It’s been about two years since I started feeling sick,” he began. “As I watch these little bees, I reflect back on a journey that has challenged my life – and those in it – in ways I don’t suppose I’d ever imagined.” Sutter continued, “People have reached out with their opinions, advice, diagnoses, support and questions. It’s been overwhelming- both good and bad. I’ve been made aware of conditions I’d never knew existed and of suffering in numbers that don’t seem possible. I wish I could help. I want to help. But I’ve discovered this journey to be uniquely personal. No two paths [are] the same it seems? So, while I’d like to provide advice, on bees or otherwise, I hesitate to say much.” ![]() The firefighter, who publicly revealed his Lyme disease diagnosis in May 2021, noted that he doesn’t want to assume his experience is a universal one. “I know what it's like to be desperate for answers, to chase every suggestion and to be let down by a treatment, an idea and the system. What I can offer is hope,” he added. “I am in a much better place than I was two years ago. Simple changes to lifestyle, diet and outlook have been immensely beneficial and are strategies that can be implemented and impactful regardless of health. I believe I am on the right path now.” Despite his ups and downs over the past two years, the former ABC personality told his followers that he feels “excited” and “happy” with how he’s improved. “As appropriate, I will continue to share my journey,” he concluded. “And, as always, I will continue to encourage others to find theirs …” The Colorado native’s health first took a turn in February 2020 after an 18-week fire academy with the Denver Fire Department. Following months of questions and tests, he announced on wife Trista Sutter‘s “Better, Etc.” podcast that he has Lyme disease, Epstein-Barr virus and mold toxicity. “It seems like something that I will always have,” he explained in May 2021. “Now I know, and I can build back my immune system to fight it off.” Trista, 49, noted at the time that her husband’s journey had been “hard” on their family. The reality stars wed in 2003 and share children Maxwell, 14, and Blakesley, 13. ![]() “It’s a really difficult thing to see the person you love most in the world struggling,” Trista explained. “He’s a big, strong guy and to see him get emotional and feel hopeless — all I could really do is advocate for him, so that's what I did.” Since receiving his diagnosis, Ryan has also undergone knee surgery. He graduated from firefighter training in June 2021, thanking his loved ones for their constant support as he celebrated the milestone. “It may not have gone as I’d thought, as I’d hoped or as I’d expected," he wrote via Instagram at the time. “It was not an easy year or perfect process. It was hard — intentionally so. But it’s in the books now and, with the undying support of my family, I made it — we made it!” |
Britney Spears and Sam Asghari: A Timeline of Their Relationship Posted: 12 Apr 2022 07:19 AM PDT Stronger together! It was love at first sight when Britney Spears and Sam Asghari met in October 2016 on the set of her "Slumber Party" music video. "I was excited that I [would] get to meet one of the biggest artists of all time," the personal trainer recalled to Men's Health in July 2018. "I had butterflies." But when Asghari tried to break the ice, he almost ruined his chances with the Grammy winner. "She said, 'Hi, I'm Britney,' and I said, 'I'm sorry, what's your name again?'" he told the magazine. "I tried to be funny. I don't think anybody got it." Fortunately, Spears was charmed by the fitness model and they started chatting about one of their favorite foods, sushi. They continued to talk throughout the shoot and exchanged phone numbers by the end so that they could set up a proper first date. And the rest, as they say, was history. "I found his number in my bag. I was like, 'He is really cute. This guy is really cute,'" the Princess of Pop recounted during a January 2017 radio interview. "So then I called him, and ever since then, he is just a really fun, funny person." Since then, Asghari has been a huge support system for Spears in her personal and professional lives. He was a fixture in the audience during her Piece of Me residency in Las Vegas and helped her come out stronger than yesterday (pun intended) after she spent 30 days in a mental health facility in spring 2019. "Sam has been an absolute dream come true for Britney," a source told Us Weekly exclusively in May 2019. "He is such a positive light in her life." The "Toxic" singer was previously married to her childhood pal Jason Alexander for 55 hours in 2004, and backup dancer Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007. She coparents sons Preston and Jayden with K-Fed. Asghari proposed to the "Womanizer" performer in September 2021 after nearly five years together. "The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication and love expressed to them," his manager, Brandon Cohen, told Us via a statement at the time. "In my opinion Jamie is a total dick. I won't be going into details because I've always respected our privacy but at the same time I didn't come to this country to not be able to express my opinion and freedom." His comment came a day after he gave a statement to People amid social media speculation about Spears, saying that he has "always wanted nothing but the best for my better half and will continue to support her following her dreams and creating the future she wants and deserves." "I am thankful for all of the love and support she is receiving from her fans all over the world, and I am looking forward to a normal, amazing future together," the actor added. What Prompted Erika Jayne to Literally Trash Garcelle Beauvais' Book Posted: 12 Apr 2022 07:02 AM PDT One woman’s trash. Erika Jayne made headlines when she threw Garcelle Beauvais‘ new book in the garbage — and there was a specific reason for her ire. “Garcelle attacked Erika again, so that’s why she did what she did,” an insider exclusively tells Us Weekly of the Pretty Mess author, 50. “They are still feuding. Nothing’s changed.” According to the source, the former Broadway star was irked when her costar, 55, promoted Love Me As I Am with a clip from the upcoming season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. In the video, Beauvais tells the “Roller Coaster” singer: “I don’t have to make you look bad, you can do that on your own.” The NYPD Blue alum shared the clip via Instagram on Sunday, adding the caption, “You know how else you can look bad all on your own? By not pre-ordering your copy of #LoveMeAsIAm before it comes out on Tuesday.” The insider tells Us that this post is what prompted the “Painkillr” songstress to share an Instagram Story video of herself throwing a copy of the memoir in the trash later on Sunday. “Garcelle, even though you unfollowed me I'm sure you'll see this," the Georgia native captioned the post. Earlier this year, rumors of a feud between the pair began when eagle-eyed Bravo fans noticed that Beauvais had unfollowed her costar on Instagram. After a fan account notified the Dancing With the Stars alum of the change, she replied in the comments section, "Well [let] me unfollow her back." ![]() In February, the White House Down actress told Us that she wasn’t ready to forgive her fellow Housewife for the incident that prompted the unfollowing. She did note, however, that she was upset by something she’d seen on the Lowball star’s feed. "It was something that I didn't like, and it also didn't really align with who I am," Beauvais told Us at the time. "For me, I wanna follow people that [when] you're seeing their feed, you wanna follow them. You wanna like them. You want to cheer them on, and I just didn't wanna do that. I didn't wanna see it." The Coming 2 America star was still surprised that the social media drama caused such an uproar. "Did I know it was going to cause World War III?” she said during a February episode of The Real. “Unfollowing someone is huge apparently because it was breaking news all over the place." Her inner circle, meanwhile, seemed to understand that the unfollow would make headlines. "Friends were texting me going, 'I can't believe you, unfollowing her is such a big deal.' But it is,” Beauvais recalled. “I guess it's a new way of saying, 'I don't like you, but I don't want to tell you, so I'm just going to unfollow you. People were outraged! She was outraged too, I think. [Or maybe] she could care less." With reporting by Diana Cooper |
Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus Break Silence on Divorce Posted: 12 Apr 2022 06:37 AM PDT Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus were married for nearly 30 years before they called it quits for the third time, but their relationship has always been full of ups and downs. The “Achy Breaky Heart” singer met Tish shortly after his 1991 divorce from his first wife, Cindy Smith, whom he wed in 1986. The Tennessee native became pregnant with her and Billy Ray’s first child, Miley Cyrus, in 1992, but there was one problem — the country star was already expecting a baby with Kristin Luckey. Billy Ray and Kristin’s son, Christopher, arrived in April 1992, while Tish welcomed Miley in November of that year. The Grammy winner pursued a romance with Tish, and the duo tied the knot in 1993. The Kentucky native also adopted Tish’s children from her first marriage: daughter Brandi Cyrus, born in May 1987, and son Trace Cyrus, born in February 1989. After their wedding, Billy Ray and Tish welcomed son Braison in 1994 and daughter Noah in 2000. As Miley rose to fame, however, the pair’s relationship came under more public scrutiny than it had in the past. In November 2010, the former Nashville Star host filed for divorce amid rumors that his wife had cheated on him with Bret Michaels. (The Poison frontman later denied the claims.) Billy Ray and Tish eventually reconciled, but their problems weren’t over. The “Sorry We’re Stoned” podcast cohost filed her own divorce papers in June 2013, citing irreconcilable differences. One month later, however, the duo reconciled a second time and called off the split. “Marriage is hard work. And I think a lot of people, when you go through struggles and difficult times, that people throw in the towel a little too easy,” Tish said during a May 2017 episode of Bravo’s “The Daily Dish” podcast. “And I think that any relationship — whether it’s marriage or family, it doesn’t matter — you truly do have to take care of it and nurture and really work hard at relationships. And that’s not always easy, especially in the business that we’re in.” In the same interview, the Brandiville executive producer said she was “proud” that she and her husband had weathered the storms in their marriage and come out of it together. “We’ve publicly gone through stuff and made it work,” she said at the time. “And I’m so glad that we did, ’cause our family so strong and so amazing. I’m blessed.” Five years later, however, the couple called it quits again. In April 2022, Tish filed for divorce from Billy Ray for the second time, citing “irreconcilable differences” again. The actress claimed in court docs that she and the “Old Town Road” singer have lived in separate residences and have not "cohabited as man and wife for a continuous period of more than two years." Keep scrolling for a look back and Billy Ray and Tish’s ups and downs through the years. ![]() Billy Ray and Tish welcomed their first child together, Destiny Hope — better known as Miley. "We both woke up and realized we love each other and decided we want to stay together," a rep for Billy Ray told Us at the time. "We both went into couples therapy something we haven’t done in 22 years of being together, and it’s brought us closer together and really opened up our communication in amazing ways. Tish also said marriage can be really hard especially after 22 years of being in entertainment. We’ve had rough times but we both realized we didn’t want to be another statistic and wanted to make it work." Shutterstock ![]() The second divorce proceedings were officially canceled after four years of inactivity in the court. Invision/AP/Shutterstock ![]() Us confirmed that the pair split for a third time when Tish filed for divorce again, citing irreconcilable differences. Tish requested an “equitable division and distribution of all marital assets,” and asked that she be granted her separate property. She also filed a restraining order for their marital property, which prevents her and her estranged husband from transferring or concealing any of their assets as well as requiring them to avoid harassing one another or making disparaging remarks in the presence of their children. Matt Baron/Shutterstock ![]() "It is after 30 years, five amazing children and a lifetime of memories, we have decided to go our separate ways — not with sadness, but with love in our hearts. We have grown up together, raised a family we can be so proud of, and it is now time to create our own paths,” Tish said in a statement to Us Weekly, the same day the divorce news broke. "We will always be family and look forward to a continued and loving shared experience as friends and parents. We have not come to this decision lightly or quickly but with so much going on in the world, we wanted to provide some clarity and closure, so we can remain focused on what is important. Kim Details Pre-‘SNL’ Relationship With Pete, Talks Kanye Dating Lookalike Posted: 12 Apr 2022 06:23 AM PDT As Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson heat up, the Kardashians star is spilling new details about the beginning of their romance. While fans know the twosome started dating after the 41-year-old Hulu personality hosted Saturday Night Live in October 2021, she chatted with the 28-year-old comedian at the Met Gala the month prior. "His story is he had been asking around for my number a little bit,” Kardashian said on the Tuesday, April 12, episode of the "Not Skinny But Not Fat" podcast. “I saw him at the Met and he knew I was hosting SNL but it wasn’t announced yet. He came up to me and we were talking about SNL." While Kardashian's outfit (and gloves) made it too difficult for her to score Davidson's number when he offered, they saw each other again filming the NBC show the following month. "He was the one cast member that — we were filming our show — he was the one cast member that wouldn't sign off to be filmed, and he wasn't there until the day of, so I didn't see him all week during rehearsals, nothing," Kardashian recalled to Dear Media's Amanda Hirsch, adding that Davidson wasn't at the afterparty because "he doesn't really party." She added: "I thought about it later, and I was like, 'Damn he's the only person that didn't come.' I thought about it after the fact." The duo "privately hung out" and "chilled" before they were photographed at Knott's Farm for a Halloween outing with friends, including Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker. Davidson marked the first person Kim has dated — or kissed — since her split from Kanye West. (The former couple share four kids: North, 8, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 2.) Since the beauty mogul filed for divorce in February 2021, the 44-year-old rapper has publicly slammed his former spouse and Davidson on social media. "I know who he is inside. And, I know what he means to say, and I know what he means to express and that’s the beauty of knowing someone for so many years," Kim said of West's antics. "So it can be stressful and it can be a lot of things, but I think you just have to be positive when you have kids and you just have to look at the positive as hard as it is. It doesn’t mean that it’s easy, especially behind closed doors, but it means that I feel so empowered in the way that I react to things now, and the way that I choose to communicate back and at the end of the day, what is it going to do if people are fighting back and forth? Sometimes, you know, I’ll say something, like, out of anger and then I’m just like, 'Why did I do that?'" Kim added that it's "super frustrating" when "fanbases get involved." She explained: "He has such a supportive and amazing, strong fanbase and they’re amazing. And because people aren’t together anymore, doesn’t mean that now those people have to not like me and my fanbase doesn’t have to not like him. … There shouldn’t be all this, like, external beef, like, it’s hard enough already for families to go through a divorce." Scroll through for the biggest takeaways from the podcast: ![]() Kardashian admitted that she used to have a fake Instagram account where she posted “really wild s—t,” but now she uses BFF Lala Anthony’s fake account to “stalk” people, including “fan accounts,” “fashiony things” or “everyone you could possibly think of.” Evan Agostini/Invision/AP/Shutterstock ![]() Kardashian revealed she and Davidson connected at the Met Gala in September 2021 before it was announced that she was hosting SNL. According to the Selfish author, he was curious about her status amid her split from West. After she admitted she was “so nervous” about the gig, Davidson told Kardashian to take his number. “But I had gloves on and I couldn't get into my phone with the gloves,” she recalled, noting he walked away before she could give him her number. “So we never connected or anything until [SNL]." Shutterstock (2) ![]() “It was a stage kiss, but it was still a little zing,” she admitted when asked about Davidson's infamous "BDE" by Hirsch. “It wasn’t anything, like, a super crazy feeling I was just like, ‘Hmm,’ and then I was like, ‘Wow I really haven’t kissed anyone else in 10 years, so maybe I’m just like being stupid and it’s nothing. It’s just a stage kiss.'” YouTube ![]() Kardashian admitted that things were “off and on” between her and West after she filed for divorce. “We went about eight months without even speaking to each other at the beginning of the divorce. And then, you know, we started talking again and I went to the Donda premiere,” she said of their post-split dynamic. “I mean, he would still see the kids and stuff, him and I just took a minute of not talking and I think in all relationships, it'll be like that.” The Skims founder added that she hopes they are “coparenting goals” one day. “I look back and my mom and dad went through their hard time and it took people a minute to readjust and I've seen it all before,” she said. “I think we just have a different kind of platform now, but, you know, it doesn't mean that, maybe, because he expressed himself in a certain way that he's not an amazing person and amazing friend. I do believe that we'll have that again. I'm always really hopeful and, you know, he's an amazing dad and I never really also judged the way someone wants to communicate, whether it's the way I would or not.” Shutterstock (2) ![]() “It's good when things are calm. We don't really communicate, but I think that's OK sometimes,” Kardashian said. “And I think that we will. We always will. That's just who I am. I spent a decade of my life with this person, and I just have so much love for him. So that'll never change, but it doesn't mean that they're the right one for you and that's OK too.” Justin Lane/EPA/Shutterstock; Michael Wyke/AP/Shutterstock ![]() Following his whirlwind romance with Julia Fox, West has been linked to Jones — who bears a striking resemblance (and sports similar fashion picks) to Kardashian. “I just want him to be happy and, like, she seems like the sweetest — just whatever makes you happy, I don't care what it is,” the reality star told Hirsch about the comparisons. “I think that it'll reflect in your life and your work, everything and how you are as a parent. As long as he's happy, I genuinely just want that. Truly.” Courtesy of Chaney Jones/Instagram; E! Entertainment/NBC ![]() “I feel like Khloé [Kardashian] and I are the new Kourtney and Khloé,” Kim said. “Growing up, it was always me and Kourtney, I couldn't do anything without her. … I do feel like our parenting styles [are] a little bit more similar. Everyone has just, like, a different style, but also, especially when Kourtney [got into] her relationship with Travis, I feel like they're just in their own worlds.” When asked whether Kourtney is “jealous,” Kim said “not it all” because the Poosh founder is just in “her own world with Travis.” John Salangsang/Shutterstock |
Garcelle Beauvais’ Book: Biggest ‘RHOBH’ Revelations, Divorce Details, More Posted: 12 Apr 2022 06:08 AM PDT Spilling it all! Garcelle Beauvais has never been one to hold back when it comes to sharing her opinion — and her new book, Love Me As I Am, is no exception. "Feeling like I've got my whole world in my hands Her reality TV costar and friend Kathy Hilton gushed over Beauvais' achievement, commenting, "So proud of you. Not everyone from the Bravo series, however, appeared to be excited to read Beauvais' memoir, which highlights her journey from Haiti to New York City to become a model before pursuing a career in Hollywood. Erika Jayne revealed via social media on Sunday, April 10, that she promptly threw her copy of the book in the trash after sparking feud speculation with Beauvais earlier this year. "Garcelle, even though you unfollowed me I'm sure you'll see this," Jayne, 50, captioned a video of her costar's new book in the garbage via her Instagram Story. The Coming 2 America actress exclusively told Us Weekly in February why she unfollowed her costar on Instagram, explaining that Jayne had recently rubbed her the wrong way. "It was something that I didn't like, and it also didn't really align with who I am," Beauvais told Us at the time. "For me, I wanna follow people that [when] you're seeing their feed, you wanna follow them. You wanna like them. You want to cheer them on, and I just didn't wanna do that. I didn't wanna see it." The Caught in His Web star teased to Us that the RHOBH girls' trip to Aspen, Colorado, earlier this year may have played a part in her rift with Jayne. The getaway was "off the chain," Beauvais revealed, adding, "That's all I'm saying. I don't know how we pack so much in three days." While the tension between Beauvais and Jayne appears to be at an all-time high, that wasn't always the case, according to the Jamie Foxx Show alum's memoir. In fact, Beauvais detailed her first impression of Jayne and a few other costars in the book. She also got real about her two divorces, three sons and why it was a "calculated risk" to become RHOBH's first Black cast member during season 10 of the series. Love Me As I Am is out now. Scroll through for the biggest takeaways: ![]() Beauvais joined the cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2019, becoming the first Black woman on the series. She explained being a Housewife was “just another box to check” on her career to-do list. "It was a calculated risk for me,” the Real cohost wrote. “I was confident that I would be able to have a little more control over my narrative. I couldn’t imagine that the franchise would take the risk of trying to play out the mythical stereotype of the angry Black woman. If they wanted that, they wouldn’t have come looking for me.” John Tsiavis/Bravo ![]() The reality star confessed that she “felt attacked” during the season 10 reunion special, which she called “torturous” compared to a “difficult” season of filming. “I was caught off guard by how venomous these ladies, especially in this setting, could be,” she wrote. Beauvais recalled seeing her costars “claw and scratch” at pal Denise Richards all season, but still wasn’t prepared to become a “target” of their remarks during the reunion taping. After watching how Richards was treated and how her own sense of honesty and trust in the Bold and the Beautiful alum came back to bite her, Beauvais explained she learned something new about her friends. “I discovered that some of these women used the concept of ‘honesty’ as a weapon. They hide behind the word and pretend to seek it to create drama,” she claimed in her memoir, insisting she was not “bashing” her costars. “I won’t sugarcoat what is painfully obvious to the viewing audience either. There’s that damn honesty again!" John Tsiavis/Bravo ![]() Beauvais sparked feud speculation with the “Pretty Mess” performer earlier this year when she unfollowed the model and Sutton Stracke on social media. In her book, however, she revealed that her first impression of Erika was much more pleasant. “I took instantly to her no-nonsense, direct, cut-to-the-chase attitude. It was very New York,” she wrote of her costar. “A little tough and dude-leaning, just like me. She’s seen somethings. I respected her story and struggle to get to where she was. Not an easy beginning, but she made it, baby!” Beauvais noted that she also found “camaraderie” with Dorit Kemsley, bonding over their love of fashion. “Coming from the fashion world myself, I could tell this girl had an eye for style,” she added. Bravo (2) ![]() The model was married to Saunders from 1991 to 2000. The former couple called it quits when their son, Oliver, was 3 years old. Beauvais called the divorce “neither amicable nor easy,” pointing out that her ex wasn’t as “emotionally, financially, or physically supportive as I would have hoped.” The TV personality explained that she detailed their divorce lows in the book “not to stir up any old ghosts of the past,” but to better describe how she became the woman she is today. Throughout their marriage, Beauvais recalled becoming more “financially driven” to “overcompensate” for Saunders’ “dreamer” tendencies. “After the divorce, Danny would often say that I emasculated him,” she claimed, adding that their coparenting relationship “didn’t go so well” either. Earl Gibson III/Shutterstock ![]() Beauvais filed for divorce from Nilon, with whom she shares twins Jaid and Jax, in May 2010 after nearly 10 years together. The split hit the actress “harder” than her first divorce because of how public it was. "I poured everything into that relationship to make it work,” she wrote. Looking back, the Wild, Wild West star said she “liked the idea” of her and Nilon “on paper,” especially after he “embraced” her son Oliver. The marriage began to splinter after she “became too lenient permissive and selectively blind” when it came to parenting Oliver. Beauvais, ultimately realized that she would “defer” to Nilon about what he “thought was best” for her son, instead of asking herself the same question. Alex Berliner/BEI/Shutterstock ![]() Ahead of her split from Nilon, Beauvais “accidentally” learned that he was having an affair by pulling up his text exchange with another woman. The Haitian model knew something was wrong when she saw “I love you” in an unread message on Nilon’s phone and the number wasn’t her own. “I immediately felt an uneasy feeling grip my body, and my adrenaline began to race,” she wrote, explaining she quickly asked her then-husband what she was looking at. Beauvais recalled Nilon’s body getting stiff before he admitted to cheating. “I pushed him to tell me for exactly how long. ‘For five years with someone in Chicago,’ he finally confessed.” Alex Berliner/BEI/Shutterstock ![]() The Franklin & Bash alum told readers that she struggled to write about how for years she tried to “grapple with how to best heal her broken son” after Oliver struggled with addiction. “After years of therapy, tears and heartache, I can painfully admit to myself that I took my eyes off the ball with Oliver. I assumed that because he had the best of everything, everything would work out for the best,” she confessed. “Unfortunately, that was not to be the case. Angst, fear, helplessness, and worry were consuming emotional daggers that governed my relationship with Oliver’s teenage and early adult years.” Beauvais remembered crying herself to sleep and worrying when she woke up as she tried to anticipate what trouble Oliver would get into next. “I had agonizing physical reactions to all the turmoil as well,” she added, explaining her eczema spiked during the stressful time and leave her with “debilitating” pain. Courtesy of Samoli Saunders/Instagram ![]() The mother of three revealed that when she moved back to Los Angeles, Oliver’s troubles “escalated quickly,” leaning their family to hit their “breaking point” and hold an intervention. Beauvais noted that while she lived through her son’s “turmoil,” she chose not to divulge all the details of his battle with addiction in the book. “Where I sit today, I learned how to stop torturing myself for not being able to recognize and save my baby from his pain,” she explained. “Today my Oliver is making positive strides toward progress. He is a new husband and a new father.” Shutterstock; Inset: Courtesy of Samoli Saunders/Instagram ![]() During her early days as a model in New York City, Beauvais recalled having “so much fun” working with the NBA icon, noting that Jordan’s name didn’t “ring a bell” for her before their photo shoot. “I was impressed by how tall and handsome he was. He took me on a golf date after the shoot and showed me how to hold a club properly and swing,” she wrote, revealing that the athlete later invited her to go to Hawaii with him, but she declined. “Like a naive little girl, I was ‘clutching my pearls’ and shocked by the idea of going to Hawaii with a man I had just met.” Looking back, she confessed, “I blew that one!” Shutterstock (2) ![]() Beauvais welcomed her twins in 2007 when she was in her 40s. In the book, she recalled the “heartbreaking setbacks” she faced, including miscarriages and unsuccessful rounds of in vitro fertilization treatments before the boys were born. Ahead of the healthy pregnancy, the Bravo personality was in “pain” which landed her in the hospital. Zac and Randi Ballard Lost 100 Lbs With Nutrisystem: ‘Foolproof’ Posted: 12 Apr 2022 04:00 AM PDT When looking to lose weight, many people may first start looking for a personal trainer or nutritionist. While both can be helpful, it turns out that one of your biggest motivators might already be right beside you. Studies have shown that couples who work to lose weight together lose 20 percent more than they would if they were dieting on their own. Married couple Zac and Randi Ballard made a strong case for these findings when they lost 100 pounds together on the Nutrisystem Partner Plan. ![]() Zac was lacking energy, especially around his daughters, and wasn't feeling good about himself. When he saw a photo of his family at the beach and no longer recognized himself, he knew he had to make a change. Zac, however, was not a fan of diets. He wanted something he could rely on to guide him seamlessly to his health goals. "When I was looking for a program for weight loss, I looked around and I said, 'I need a program that's foolproof,' and Nutrisystem is that," Zac said in a video where he and his wife discussed their journey. "It tells you what to eat, when to eat it, how to eat it, and there's a lot of stories of success." Zac signed up for Nutrisystem, and Randi soon joined in after becoming "jealous" of her husband's weight loss. She said looking at old photos of herself was "upsetting" and that she knew she was ready to get back on track. ![]() The Ballards decided to try the Nutrisystem Partner Plan together. The plan offers meals that are super easy to prepare, snacks for between breakfast, lunch and dinner and even new premium options with up to 30 grams of protein. Zac ended up losing 65 pounds on the plan while Randi lost 35 pounds. "Doing the Nutrisystem Partner Plan together, it makes it so much easier to hold each other accountable," Zac said. Since losing the weight with Nutrisystem, he now runs three to four miles every weekday morning and can now happily keep up with his kids. |
Maren Morris Debuts New Song With Husband Ryan Hurd at 2022 CMT Awards Posted: 11 Apr 2022 07:03 PM PDT When the bones are good, the rest don't matter. Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd‘s love story has all the makings of a great country song. Morris and Hurd met during a writing session for Tim McGraw's song "Last Turn Home" in 2013. "[Ryan's] always been a creative collaborator in my life, that's how we met," Morris told Us Weekly exclusively in March 2019. "We were paired together six years ago to write a song. We didn't know each other and it just kind of grew from there, so music has always been really intertwined in our love for each other, and now that we aren't just songwriters, we're artists." The duo were friends for two years before their relationship turned romantic. Hurd detailed their love story in his 2017 song "Love in a Bar." "We were just friends, just hanging / Just sitting 'round waiting for somebody to cross the line," he sings. "And we've been saying it with our eyes the whole time / That you have my whole heart." After dating for nearly two years, Hurd proposed to Morris in July 2017. Less than a year later, the couple wed. "I've learned so much from Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman," Morris told Us about dealing with the long-distance relationship. "They've got the two-week rule; he's got his kids out on the road. They just make it look so normal and it makes me and Ryan feel like this could be normal as well. We do a pretty good job at constantly keeping in contact, lots of FaceTime. We have the same manager now, so she helps our calendars really coalesce well and that's helped it a good bit. Especially now that we're married, it's a little bit more important to us to see each other. We try to have a good balance." Morris and Hurd became parents in March 2020. "It was probably the hardest part of our relationship,” the "Make Out With Me" songstress recalled to Esquire. “We went on our honeymoon, and then I immediately went on this gigantic tour opening for Niall Horan. It was more international touring than I had ever done. And I was gone more than I had ever been on any other tour." She added that it was a “tough summer,” noting they went to therapy together. “We have grown so much closer because we had to make some hard decisions and have some tough talks about what this future looks like and how we can make this better,” she told the magazine in 2019. “I have always loved him, but I feel like I like him in ways I never knew I could before." Miranda Lambert and Brendan McLoughlin Have Date Night at CMT Music Awards Posted: 11 Apr 2022 05:51 PM PDT Not wasting any time! Miranda Lambert and Brendan McLoughlin tied the knot in January 2019 after a whirlwind two-and-a-half-month courtship. The nuptials came amid turmoil in the police officer's personal life stemming from past relationships. Before the country singer's wedding to McLoughlin, she was married to Blake Shelton from May 2011 to July 2015. News of his ex-wife's second marriage came as a shock to the Voice coach. "Blake found [out] about the wedding at the same time as everyone else did," a source told Us Weekly in February 2019, shortly after Lambert announced her new relationship status. Shelton, who has since moved on with Gwen Stefani, mentioned to the No Doubt singer that "the timing of Miranda's announcement of the marriage was certainly curious," according to an insider. However, "just because Miranda got married in a quickie situation doesn't change anything for Gwen and Blake." McLoughlin has a complicated past too. The New York City police officer got another woman pregnant while cheating on his fiancée, Jackie Bruno, his ex's mother, Carol Bruno, claimed in February 2019. "[Brendan] tried to deny it and then begged her to stay with him," she told Us at the time. "She was only going [abroad] for a few months to play [soccer], he was begging her to marry him before she left, even though he knew the girl was pregnant." McLoughlin welcomed a son with Kaihla Rettinger in November 2018, days after he met Lambert for the first time. The Grammy winner previously made headlines for getting close to musician Evan Felker while she was still in a relationship with Anderson East. Two weeks after Lambert split from East in April 2018, Us confirmed that she had moved on with Felker, who was still married to Staci Felker at the time. The duo divorced in August 2018 but later reconciled, welcoming their first child in 2021. Lambert has a history of moving fast in relationships, but she explained that her pace with McLoughlin was actually beneficial for the duo. "We didn't date very long before we got married. And so we sort of got to just really, really, really get to know each other," she said during a SiriusXM interview in February 2021. "It was just us two with no distraction, at my farm outside of Nashville. And so I was really thankful for it because it made us really strong." CMT Music Awards 2022: Jessie James Decker Gives Eric a Temporary Tattoo Posted: 11 Apr 2022 05:44 PM PDT That special kind of love! Jessie James Decker and Eric Decker have a love story that's all their own — and Us Weekly is taking a look back on the pair's journey to happiness over the years. The "Wanted" singer and the former NFL pro began dating in 2011 after becoming acquainted through mutual friends. "He was in Arizona training, and I got a text from my girlfriend who said, 'I'm having dinner with this guy I'm seeing, and this other guy just showed up, and he’s stunning,'" Jessie recalled to Access Hollywood in 2013. "Show him a picture of me, and see if he's into it." After Eric received her number and took the initiative to text her first, Jessie said that she set out to go about their romance differently. "From now on, if a man wanted me, he was going to have to show it," she wrote in her 2018 memoir, Just Jessie. "So I made Eric chase me." The twosome eventually got engaged in 2012 and tied the knot the following year in Colorado. They went on to welcome three children together: Vivianne in 2014, Eric Jr. in 2015 and Forrest in 2018. During an appearance on the "Motherly" podcast in 2019, the "I Look So Good" singer opened up about how becoming parents improved the duo's marriage. "It's made it even stronger and made us even closer because you know — think about it," she explained. "We created these people out of love together and now we're raising three people that we have in common, not just biologically, but we have in common that we are so madly in love with these people that we created together." The "Lights Down Low" artist added, "And we have the same goal, which is to love them and take care of them and give them the best life we possibly can, which makes us closer and stronger." Eric has frequently gushed about his marriage to Jessie as well. In August 2019, the former Denver Broncos wide receiver called his wife the "perfect complement" to him. "A lot of times, I can get more serious … and she's so free-spirited," he told Us at the time. "I just found that she brings kind of that enthusiasm to the house and kind of the light-hearted energy that I think is so important to just enjoy, you know, the moments that we have." Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher's Love Story: A Complete Timeline Posted: 11 Apr 2022 05:43 PM PDT A romance fit for a love song. Carrie Underwood and husband Mike Fisher have been sweeping each other off of their feet since 2008 — and are still as in love as ever. The duo tied the knot in July 2010 after the Canadian hockey player popped the question in December 2009. Five years into their marriage, the couple welcomed their first child together, son Isaiah, and it didn’t take long for the pair to set their sights on expanding their family even further. “Everyone around [Carrie] knows she wants a big family, and they’re always trying for another baby,” a source told Us Weekly exclusively in February 2018. “Carrie and Mike have a great life and a very strong marriage — one that their friends envy. They are completely committed to each other and in it for the long run.” Six months later, the “Two Black Cadillacs” singer announced via Instagram that she and Fisher were expecting another child. “Yay! Mike, Isaiah and I are absolutely over the moon and excited to be adding another little fish to our pond,” Underwood wrote at the time. “This has just been a dream come true.” Their second little boy, Jacob, arrived in January 2019. While the happy couple reveled in the gift of their two sons, the American Idol alum later revealed that her pregnancy journey wasn’t always easy. Before the birth of her second child, Underwood opened up about suffering three miscarriages in the span of two years. “I had always been afraid to be angry. Because we are so blessed,” she said on CBS Sunday Morning in September 2018. “I’m like, ‘If we can never have any other kids, that’s OK, because [Isaiah] is amazing.’ And I have this amazing life. Like, really, what can I complain about? I can’t. I have an incredible husband, incredible friends, an incredible job, an incredible kid. Can I be mad? No.” Throughout her frustrating road to motherhood, the “Cry Pretty” singer always had her husband by her side. As the pair celebrated the 10-year milestone in their marriage, Underwood thanked Fisher for giving her a “happily ever after.” “These past 10 years have been pretty incredible with you, @mfisher1212,” she gushed via Instagram in July 2020. “Here’s to many many more … I love you and I thank the good Lord that He brought those two kids together!” Scroll down to see more of Underwood and Fisher’s sweetest moments together. ![]() Taking a gamble on love! Everything Chris Rock Has Said About the Will Smith Oscars Slap Drama Posted: 11 Apr 2022 04:57 PM PDT Offering his thoughts on the matter. After Will Smith made headlines for slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars, the comedian has found his own way to address the drama. During the 94th annual Academy Awards, Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith‘s shaved head when he suggested she should be cast in G.I. Jane 2. After Pinkett Smith, who has alopecia, rolled her eyes at the comment, her husband approached the stage and slapped the Saturday Night Live alum. "Will Smith just smacked the s—t out of me," Rock said in uncensored footage that later circulated online. As he returned to his seat, the King Richard star yelled back at the South Carolina native to "keep my wife's name out your f—king mouth.” At the time, a source exclusively told Us Weekly that Rock and Smith did not interact privately after the incident. "Chris is focusing on his tour," the insider said in late March. "He's moving on and is looking forward to his upcoming gigs." During a comedy show that same month, Rock confirmed that he hasn’t heard from Smith. "I haven't talked to anyone despite what you may have heard," the Grown Ups actor told the audience, according to multiple outlets. The Hitch actor, for his part, issued a public apology for his “unacceptable and inexcusable” actions one day after the awards show. “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness,” he wrote via Instagram. Smith added: “I would also like to apologize to The Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us.” Pinkett Smith, for her part, seemingly responded to the drama when she shared an Instagram quote, which read, “This is a season for healing and I’m here for it.” Amid the controversy, Smith announced his decision to resign from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. “My actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful, and inexcusable,” he said in a statement in April, according to Variety. “The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home. I betrayed the trust of the Academy.” The organization conducted their own investigation into the altercation which concluded with them banning Smith from all Oscars events for 10 years as punishment. “The 94th Oscars were meant to be a celebration of the many individuals in our community who did incredible work this past year; however, those moments were overshadowed by the unacceptable and harmful behavior we saw Mr. Smith exhibit on stage," Academy President David Rubin and CEO Dawn Hudson stated in a letter after the board’s meeting. "During our telecast, we did not adequately address the situation in the room. For this, we are sorry. This was an opportunity for us to set an example for our guests, viewers and our Academy family around the world, and we fell short — unprepared for the unprecedented.” The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum reacted to the news, telling Page Six, "I accept and respect the Academy's decision.” Scroll down for every reference Rock has made about the Oscars slap: ![]() Days after the incident, Rock reacted emotionally after he received support at his comedy show in Boston, Massachusetts. “Y’all are getting me misty-eyed and s–t,” he told the crowd amid applause on March 30, an eyewitness exclusively told Us. Chris Pizzello/AP/Shutterstock ![]() Amid a performance at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston on March 31, Rock reportedly shut down a fan's attempt at heckling. According to multiple outlets, Rock repeatedly said no when an audience member yelled, "F--k Will Smith." Frank Micelotta/FX/Picturegroup/Shutterstock ![]() According to a source, Rock sarcastically said that "he's had an interesting week" during an appearance in Atlantic City, New Jersey on April 2. “Everyone laughed because they knew what he was referring to, of course," the insider shared with Us, noting that the performer said he was “still processing” recent events. “He made a joke about how Atlantic City is too close to Philly for him to get into it. The general vibe of the comment was that Atlantic City could be hostile territory because it's so close to Philly. It was said in a casual joking way and everyone laughed.” Chris Pizzello/Invision/AP/Shutterstock ![]() During a surprise appearance at a New York comedy club, Rock addressed the situation after the audience brought the topic up. "He got on stage and said, ‘Lower your expectations. I’m not going to address that s–t,'” an eyewitness told Page Six about the April 6 show, noting that the crowd "was going wild" for the comedian. Paul Bergen/EPA-EFE/Shutterstock ![]() On April 10, Rock reflected on his state of mind following the drama. “Life is good. I got my hearing back," he joked at a comedy show in Palm Springs, California, according to the Desert Sun newspaper. “I'm OK, I have a whole show and I'm not talking about that until I get paid."
