NBA Rumors: Proposed Knicks-Pelicans Trade Sends Brandon Ingram To New York For Four Players & Draft Picks

Posted: 07 Apr 2022 01:35 PM PDT

The New York Knicks are expected to be one of the busiest teams on the trade market in the 2022 NBA offseason. After suffering a huge disappointment in the 2021-22 NBA season, Knicks president of basketball operations Leon Rose is set to be more aggressive in upgrading their roster. With their collection of young and promising talents and future draft assets, the Knicks will be in a strong position to engage in a blockbuster deal should a superstar becomes available on the trading block this summer.

Potential Offseason Target - Brandon Ingram

One of the dream trade targets for the Knicks is All-Star small forward Brandon Ingram of the New Orleans Pelicans. In a recent article, Greg Patuto of NBA Analysis Network came up with a hypothetical blockbuster trade idea that would enable the Knicks to acquire Ingram from the Pelicans in the 2022 NBA offseason. In the proposed trade scenario, the Knicks would be sending a trade package that includes Cam Reddish, Evan Fournier, Immanuel Quickley, Kemba Walker, and future draft picks to the Pelicans in exchange for Ingram and Naji Marshall.

Proposed Deal A No-Brainer For Knicks

The Knicks should no longer think twice before making the trade. Though it would cost them multiple future first-round picks, the hypothetical blockbuster deal with the Pelicans would enable the Knicks to add a young star who can become the centerpiece of the title-contending team that they are trying to build in New York. The Knicks may currently have RJ Barrett but while he has shown huge potential, there are still doubts about whether he can carry a team or not.

Compared to Barrett, Ingram is more capable of leading a franchise and taking the role as the No. 1 option on the offensive end of the floor.

Brandon Ingram's On-Court Impact On Knicks

Ingram would be an incredible addition to the Knicks. Though he still has plenty of things that he needs to improve in his game, he's already a solid two-way contributor in the league. He would give the Knicks a prolific scorer who can rebound, make plays, defend, and space the floor. This season, he's averaging 22.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists while shooting 46.1 percent from the field and 32.7 percent from beyond the arc.

Acquiring Ingram may not make the Knicks an instant title contender, but it would strengthen their chances of reaching the playoffs in the 2022-23 NBA season.

Does The Trade Make Sense For The Pelicans?

Patuto believes that the proposed trade deal would also be worth exploring for the Pelicans. Aside from acquiring multiple future draft assets, they would also be receiving Zion Williamson's former Duke Blue Devils teammate Cam Reddish and a promising point guard in Immanuel Quickley.

"The New York Knicks have been linked to Williamson because it would recreate the big three of Duke from 2019. Instead, Reddish would join his former Blue Devil while Barrett would remain in New York. Quickley would be the perfect point guard to come off the bench for the Pelicans as they continue to build something in New Orleans. He has been inconsistent at times but has shown quickness and an ability to shoot the ball." ]]>

The Backstreet Boys learned that Machine Gun Kelly threw up at one of their shows while appearing on the April 6 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show. Find out how they reacted and what they guys are saying about their new tour.

Machine Gun Kelly Got Overwhelmed At The Backstreet Boys' Show

The Backstreet Boys appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Wednesday, April 6, and during their appearance, host Kelly Clarkson brought Machine Gun Kelly's past appearance on her daytime series to the guys' attention.

In a clip Clarkson shared with the boy banders, Machine Gun Kelly was seen saying, via ET Online Canada. "I went to a Backstreet Boys concert and I threw up on the first song because the girls were so loud."

Machine Gun Kelly Didn't Understand Why His Body Reacted The Way It Did

"They were screaming so loud. I don't know how that equalled out to be throwing up... But it happened though," Kelly continued. "They came down on these hover-boards and everyone was going so crazy."

After seeing the clip, A.J. McLean responded to Kelly's story.

"Fortunately we hadn’t started singing yet so that wasn't why he threw up. So that's a good thing... That's a good thing," he noted.

Nick Carter Is Excited To Get Back On The Road With His Boy Band Mates

As the episode continued, Nick Carter expressed his excitement to go back out on tour with his band, saying, "It's been two years since we've performed."

"We've been chomping at the bit, just sitting at home, eating, waiting to go back out on the road," Kevin Richardson agreed.

According to Carter, he believes that the work he and his bandmates do is important.

"And honestly, I feel like now, especially with the way everything is in the world, entertainment is so needed right now. Our job is so important to get people's minds off this stuff," he explained.

The Backstreet Boys' Wives Are Happy To See Them Hitting The Road Once Again

After Clarkson noted that the guys bring a lot of action and excitement to their shows, McLean agreed and added that the wives of himself and his bandmates were happy to see them getting back into action.

"It's a different kind of energy and we thrive on that energy. I mean, don't get me wrong. Our kids were so happy that we were home for this last two years. Our wives were like, 'You have to go back to work. Please go back to work,'" he laughed.

Donald Trump Endorses Marjorie Taylor Greene For Reelection

Posted: 07 Apr 2022 12:54 PM PDT

Though no longer in office, former President Donald Trump remains the most powerful and influential Republican figure in the country.

Trump's endorsements often make all the difference in GOP primary races, and he has already issued a slew of them ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.

Most recently, he endorsed arguably the most controversial member of Congress, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia.

Trump Endorses Greene

In a statement, Trump described Greene as a "warrior in Congress."

"She doesn’t back down, she doesn’t give up, and she has ALWAYS been with 'Trump,'" the former president said, as reported by Newsmax.

"Marjorie has worked very hard to secure the Border, stop the Radical Left, and ensure the truth is known about the RIGGED and STOLEN 2020 Presidential Election. She loves our Country and MAGA, its greatest ever political movement. Marjorie is running for re-election to Congress, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement!"Will Greene Win Reelection?

Will Trump's endorsement help Greene win reelection, and does she have a good chance of keeping her seat?

Polls suggest that the controversial congresswoman is all but certain to beat her Republican primary challenger, Jennifer Strahan.

In fact, a survey from Target Point conducted in January showed Greene winning a staggering 70 percent of the vote over Strahan. Additionally, she is favored to win the general election against her Democratic opponent.

White Nationalism, Anti-Semitism

Greene, who used to promote QAnon-adjacent conspiracy theories, has ties to prominent white nationalist figures.

In February, Greene appeared as a surprise guest at the America First Political Action Conference in Florida, as reported by The Daily Beast.

The conference was organized by Nick Fuentes, a white nationalist and anti-Semite.

Greene later denied knowing Fuentes, despite posing for him for several photographs.

"I do not know Nick Fuentes. I have never heard him speak, I have never seen a video. I do not know what his views are so I am not aligned with anything that is controversial," she told the press.

Criticism

Though most Republicans have been reluctant to denounce Greene, some conservative organizations have stepped forward to criticize her for speaking at white nationalist events.

"It is appalling and outrageous that a member of congress would share a platform with an individual who has actively spread anti-Semitic bile, mocked the Holocaust, and promoted dangerous anti-Israel conspiracy theories," the Republican Jewish Coalition said in a statement.

However, Greene's ties to white nationalists and anti-Semites do not appear to be an issue for Trump, whose "complete and total endorsement" will most likely help her win reelection.

MLB Rumors: This Is Where The Mets Stand On Eric Hosmer

Posted: 07 Apr 2022 12:49 PM PDT

The New York Mets' spending spree was one for the ages. Steve Cohen made it clear that he'll spare no expenses to try and turn the team into a legit World Series contender, even though there are still multiple areas to address.

The Mets were reportedly keeping tabs on Eric Hosmer, one of the prime trade candidates for the season. Now, however, it seems like that won't happen.

Mets Won't Trade For Hosmer

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Mets eventually decided not to pursue Hosmer, even though the Padres would've paid over $30 million of his remaining salary:

"Sherman added the Mets "deliberated for several days" about taking on roughly $24 million in salary for Hosmer before deciding against it," wrote Adam Wells of Bleacher Report. "Per The Athletic's Dennis Lin, Ken Rosenthal and Andy McCullough, one trade concept discussed between the two teams involved Hosmer and Chris Paddack going to New York in exchange for Dominic Smith."They Need More Pitching

While they didn't actually need Hosmer, adding Paddack would've certainly helped their case.

The Mets' resurge could be seriously hampered by their lack of depth in their rotation. Jacob deGrom is slated to miss the first chunk of the season after suffering a stress reaction in his right scapula. Also, his recent history of injuries makes their need for an insurance policy even bigger.

Steve Cohen signed Max Scherzer to a mammoth 3-year deal in the offseason to potentially have one of the best one-two punches in the league. Unfortunately, though, Mad Max was also scratched from his Opening Day start due to an injured hamstring.

Scherzer Doesn't Know When He'll Be On The Mound

Scherzer has been one of the most durable pitchers in recent times, but he's not getting any younger and has endured a huge workhorse over the past couple of years. Hamstring injuries are tricky and tend to linger, so they don't want to rush him back:

“It’s tough to sit here and say, ‘absolutely yes’ or ‘absolutely no,’” Scherzer said, per MLB.com. “It’s just a day-to-day thing. You do the rehab and most likely, you get back out there pretty quick. That’s kind of the history of how these little hiccups on my leg work. I’m hoping that it’s the same thing. But when you’re dealing with hammies, you never know.”Luke Weaver Is An Intriguing Option

With that in mind, the Mets could reignite their interest in Luke Weaver, who could be dealt after being demoted to the bullpen:

"The New York Mets have done some background work on Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Luke Weaver, and he could be a potential starting pitching target on the trade market leading up to the 2022 season," reported Andy Martino of SNY.

Weaver may not be the marquee name Cohen wants for the new-look Mets, but it's clear that they need to add another arm to their team ASAP.

Elon Musk Broke Law When He Bought Twitter Shares, Report Says

Posted: 07 Apr 2022 12:47 PM PDT

The founder and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, recently became Twitter's largest stakeholder, after buying 9.2 percent of the company's shares.

The news broke on Monday and was welcomed by many in the tech world, but also by conservative figures and Republican politicians, who expressed hope that Musk would loosen the social networking company's strict rules.

According to some experts, however, Musk broke the law when he purchased the shares.

How Much Money Did Musk Make?

According to The Washington Post, Musk disclosed that he had bought Twitter shares 11 days after doing so, which earned him around $156 million.

Investors are required by law to notify the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) when they surpass a 5 percent stake in a company -- which Musk failed to do on time.

After Musk disclosed his purchase, Twitter's share price rose approximately 30 percent and is now above $50 per share.

Read More Below

Musk is the richest person in the world. By some estimates, he is worth $276 billion, so the $156 million he made by not disclosing his Twitter purchase on time is just a drop in the bucket for him.

"I really don’t know what’s going through his mind. Was he ignorant or knowledgeable that he was violating securities law?" asked David Kass, a finance professor at the University of Maryland’s business school.

Other legal experts told The Washington Post Musk will most likely get a slap on the wrist from the SEC, but noted that his move highlights just how easily billionaires break the law without ever facing consequences.

Will Musk Face Consequences?

According to Adam Pritchard, a professor of securities law at the University of Michigan’s law school, the SEC could argue in court that Musk needs to "part with the theoretical profit" he made from failing to disclose his Twitter purchase.

Pritchard noted, however, that the SEC "would have to be really angry with him to try that because they would have a good chance of a court rejecting that argument."

The professor added that individual shareholders have no right to sue Musk since he is not legally required to notify them of his purchases.

Twitter Employees Are 'Panicking'

As per a new report from Reuters, some Twitter employees are "panicking" over Muck becoming the largest shareholder.

The employees are apparently concerned that Musk, as a self-described "free speech absolutist," will allow prominent right-wing figures, including former President Donald Trump back on the platform.

Others simply don't want to work for Musk.

"Some people are dusting off their resumes. I don’t want to work for somebody (like Musk)," a person familiar with the situation said.

MLB News: Aaron Judge Doesn't Want To Talk About A New Contract

Posted: 07 Apr 2022 12:43 PM PDT

Despite the rumors and reports, the New York Yankees failed to reach a contract extension with Aaron Judge before MLB's Opening Day. Now, with arbitration and free agency looming, the word around the league is that Judge could be heading out the door after this season.

The talented outfielder, however, doesn't want to talk about that just now.

It's All About Winning, Says Judge

Judge knows the team is still in debt to the fans and has one goal and one goal only, and that's to win the World Series once and for all:

“You think about it, but it comes down to: I’ve got games to win, Judge said after his final Spring Training appearance. “It’s been a while since Yankee fans have held a championship in the city. I’ve got a job to do: to go out there and win it for them.” “I came up here,’’ the OF continued. “I don’t know anything else except going out there and trying to win a championship. That’s always been my goal. That’s what you do when you wear pinstripes.”Free Agency Is Complicated

For the first time in his career, Judge could test the waters and enter free agency in 2023. But he must stay focused on the present instead of trying to play it safe, claims teammate Aaron Hicks:

“For some people, free agency is a great experience,’’ Hicks said. “And for some people, it’s not. Having to go another year [before hitting the market], worrying about your health and all the other things that come into play, it could make you play a little safer.” Judge Won't Lose His Focus, Says Aaron Hicks

Even so, Hicks doesn't think his impending free agency will take a toll on Judge's game, although he expects both parties to come up with a solution sooner rather than later:

“I don’t think it would impact him, but when you’re in contract talks, you definitely don’t want it to drag into the season,’’ Hicks continued. “You want to focus on the season, which is why I think it’s so important for him to want to get it done. It eases your mind and you’re at peace with whatever happens. You kind of have a resolution. The longer it lingers, it can make it tough to play. I hope they come up with something soon and he’s a Yankee for the rest of his career.” There's Always Pressure

Playing for the Yankees comes with a lot of pressure, and skipper Aaron Boone knows it. Every year, it's World Series or bust:

“Sure. But that’s the beauty of getting to play here, getting to work here [and] getting to play for this franchise," Boone said. "The expectations and the interest, not only in the city of New York, but across the world, is different. That’s a privilege.”

Patience is running out and this might as well be Boone's final shot with the Yankees, so he better start making the most of that privilege.

NBA Rumors: LA Lakers Could Trade Russell Westbrook To Pacers For Malcolm Brogdon & Buddy Hield

Posted: 07 Apr 2022 12:34 PM PDT

After they got officially eliminated from playoff contention, rumors surrounding All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook and his future with the Los Angeles Lakers have started to heat up. The Lakers brought Westbrook to Los Angeles with the hope that pairing him with LeBron James and Anthony Davis would increase their chances of fully dominating the Western Conference and winning the 2022 NBA championship title. Unfortunately, things didn't go as they expected in the 2021-22 NBA season.

With the Westbrook experiment clearly a massive failure, the Lakers are expected to find a way to get rid of him this summer.

Russell Westbrook To Indiana Pacers

Finding a team that is willing to absorb Westbrook and his massive salary would be a difficult task for the Lakers' front office, but it's not entirely impossible. When the 2021-22 NBA season is officially over, there will surely be teams that want to get rid of veteran players on their roster who have longer contracts. These include the Indiana Pacers.

If the Pacers want to "get out of salary commitments" to Malcolm Brogdon and Buddy Hield, Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report suggests that they could engage in a blockbuster deal with the Lakers involving Westbrook's expiring contract.

Pacers Could Ask For More Compensation

When it comes to matching salaries, trading Hield and Brogdon for Westbrook would work for the Lakers and the Pacers. However, the Pacers are highly unlikely to make the blockbuster deal just for the sake of creating salary cap flexibility in the summer of 2023. Aside from dumping the lucrative contracts of Hield and Brogdon, the Pacers are also expected to demand at least one of the Lakers' future first-round picks, together with Talen Horton-Tucker or Austin Reaves.

Lakers Get Two New Backcourt Starters

Though it may cost them future draft assets and young players, the proposed blockbuster trade with the Pacers would still be worth exploring for the Lakers, especially if they are serious about returning to title contention next season. By dumping Westbrook to Indiana, the Lakers would be getting two starting-caliber guards. Brogdon and Hield may not be All-Stars, but they could be a much better fit alongside James and Davis than Westbrook. Brogdon could fill the hole that Westbrook would be leaving in the Lakers' backcourt, while Hield would provide them the much-needed improvement in terms of floor spacing.

What Will The Pacers Do With Russell Westbrook?

With the team still in the initial phase of the rebuilding process, keeping an aging superstar like Westbrook no longer makes any sense for the Pacers. However, instead of waiving him, the Pacers could ask Westbrook to serve as a veteran mentor to their young players. While finding him a new home, they could also give him the opportunity to prove to everyone in the league that he still has plenty of gas left in his tank. If he performs well next season, the Pacers could try flipping Westbrook for more rebuilding assets before the 2023 NBA trade deadline.

NFL News: This Is Why The 49ers Won't Cut Jimmy Garoppolo

Posted: 07 Apr 2022 12:31 PM PDT

The San Francisco 49ers finished last season strong, beating the Dallas Cowboys on the road and looking like one of the biggest dark horses in the NFL for most of the year.

However, as most predicted, poor QB play ended up costing them a trip to the Super Bowl, putting the last nail on Jimmy Garoppolo's coffin as their starter.

John Lynch Thinks Garoppolo Is 'Too Good To Be Cut'

But even though it's clear that the team is looking forward to moving on from him, there's been little to no interest in his services. Still, Niners GM John Lynch doesn't foresee the team cutting him and thinks his shoulder injury is the only thing keeping other teams on the fence about trading for him:

"I don't foresee that," Lynch told ESPN. "He's too good a player. I think Jimmy will be playing for us or will be playing for someone else. He's too good of a player not to be. I think, ultimately, the teams that we were closest with, the surgery gave them pause, and they ended up going in other directions."The Niners Could Keep Him Despite His Salary

Jimmy G is slated to make over $26 million next season. Nonetheless, the Niners could still look to keep him under that salary if they fail to find a trade suitor for him:

"We value strength at that position," Lynch said. "To be completely forthright, though, when you make a trade of that magnitude (for Lance), most of our options did not include Jimmy on our books. On our team. But you always have to adapt and a series of events happened that it didn't work out. But that's not a bad thing, though. We feel positive with it. And we'll make it work."Shanahan Raves About Lance

Recently, HC Kyle Shanahan doubled down on his commitment to Lance as the undisputed starter, raving about his maturity and how he's dealt with the transition to the NFL:

"I love that Trey has someone that has been through the battle," Shanahan said during the NFL's owners' meetings. "I can tell him about it and what I've seen with guys but someone who's actually had to go through the ups and downs and have pressures of having a good game, then throwing a pick that loses the next game, how to deal with the media, how to deal with the NFL season. I think it's hard to find a player always that's done it at such a high level that's willing to go through that commitment and stuff. Brian seems all on board. We've had him here for a month and he's been great."The Job Is Lance's To Lose

All things considered, it's not like some competition and veteran mentorship are going to hurt Lance's development. If anything, keeping Jimmy G around could only be good for his growth.

Then again, having a $26 million backup on your roster isn't exactly ideal, financially speaking; so look for the Niners to continue pushing for a trade.

NFL News: Saints, Eagles Could Land Tyrann Mathieu

Posted: 07 Apr 2022 12:28 PM PDT

Tyrann Mathieu is perhaps the biggest name in NFL free agency still without a team but that's not due to a shortage of interest.

The Honey Badger has plenty of suitors lining up to acquire his services, yet it seems like it's going to take the perfect scenario to convince him at this point in his career.

Mathieu Shows Love For NOLA

Recently, Mathieu visited his hometown New Orleans Saints. And, even though he left without a deal, he showed nothing but love for the team and the organization:

“I have a great relationship with Cam Jordan, Marshon Lattimore,” Mathieu said. “The list goes on and on. Any time I see the Saints play defense, I always tap myself on the shoulder and say, ‘Hey, I could probably roll with those guys.’“Those guys have done a great thing. The last couple years, they’ve been like top-five in defense. I don’t think they really need me, but it would be good to go back home and help them win.”He's Talked About Joining The Saints

It's not the first time that Mathieu flirts with the Saints. As a Louisiana native and LSU product, he has big ties to the organization:

“They have a great program with Mama Benson, Dennis Allen, and all of those people over there," Mathieu said a couple of weeks ago. "It’d be great to represent my state, my city, and the team I grew up watching. Even a couple of my guys that I love to hang out with, they play for the Saints now so you know it wouldn’t be a bad situation.”Eagles Are Also In The Mix

However, the Saints will face some steep competition to sign him, with the Philadelphia Eagles also looming around, per Mike Garafalo of NFL Network:

“There’s a couple of teams that have remained in communication. One of them is the Philadelphia Eagles," Garafalo said. "And I know there’s been talk of a visit but nothing has been set up to this point between Tyrann Mathieu and the Eagles. So let’s see how long Tyrann Mathieu carries this out.”He Won't Rush His Decision

Then again, Mathieu won't rush his free agency decision and will thoroughly assess his next career move, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network:

“I don’t get the sense that he’s in a rush at all,” Rapoport reported. “Like every year there are a couple of free agents, who kind of just linger out there and wait for maybe the draft."

Mathieu is one of the best safeties in the game right now and, even though he's already a nine-year veteran, he should still cash in on a big paycheck.
