Jay-Z and Beyonce Are ‘Uncle Jay and Auntie B’ to Gwyneth and Chris’ Kids Posted: 05 Apr 2022 05:17 PM PDT Talk about star power. Beyoncé and Jay-Z have been close friends with Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin for decades — and their bond has only strengthened over the years, despite the Goop founder and Coldplay frontman’s 2016 divorce. The Shakespeare in Love actress revealed the foursome met in 2006, telling Ellen DeGeneres in 2010, "We just kind of hooked up and became close." They were so close, in fact, that Jay-Z name-dropped the then-couple on his 2006 track, "Hollywood." "When your friends is Chris and Gwyneth, then it's / Time to get all your windows tinted / Keep your eyes squinted, it's gon' flash any minute," he rapped. The Glee alum later gushed about her relationship with the "Crazy in Love" artists and elaborated on how they all met. "We all became friends. I normally don't do that, but [we vibed] in that particular case," Paltrow told Howard Stern in 2015, noting that the two couples initially met at a gala in New York City. "They're the greatest people. They are funny and sweet, and self-aware and really intelligent." The "Formation" singer and the actress have continued to effuse about each other in interviews and their kids have bonded. Beyoncé and Jay-Z share daughter Blue Ivy, born in 2012, and twins Rumi and Sir, born in 2017, while Paltrow and Martin co-parent daughter Apple, born in 2004, and son Moses, born in 2006. The only time their relationship ever seemed to hit a snag, at least publicly, was when Amber Rose claimed in July 2018 that Paltrow was "Becky with the good hair" — a lyric from Beyoncé's "Sorry" that fans have interpreted as the woman with whom Jay-Z had an affair. "I feel like she's the one who was, like, f—king Jay-Z," the model said of the Emma star on Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag's podcast, "Make Speidi Famous Again." "They were, like, friends, and then, like, you don't see Gwyneth Paltrow with Beyoncé anymore," she added. "It just seems like she was the one that was f—king Jay-Z, and now Gwyneth lost her husband, but like Beyoncé's still with Jay." (Paltrow's rep denied the Slut Walk founder's claims to Us Weekly, calling her allegations "completely absurd and 100 percent false." For her part, Rose later revealed that she was joking and told Us that her comments got her into "a lot of trouble.") The four celebrities' friendship has only grown in the years since as they've continued to spend quality time together. Christina Haack's ex-husbands, Tarek El Moussa and Ant Anstead, have a friendship outside of their relationship with Haack, a source exclusively tells Us Weekly. “Tarek and Ant have a great modern day family dynamic," the insider says, noting, both men "share similar interests and enjoy hanging out." The Flipping 101 star, 40, and the British TV host, 43, went car racing in Arizona "a few weeks ago" together at the Radford Racing School, the source tells Us, noting El Moussa's wife, Heather Rae Young, and "a few other friends" joined them for the getaway. Will Smith's Inner Circle: A Look at His Close Celeb Pals After Oscars Slap Posted: 05 Apr 2022 04:24 PM PDT People he can rely on. Will Smith is facing backlash after slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars, but he’s been building these friendships for years. Denzel Washington immediately consoled Smith after the Ali star slapped Rock for making a quip about Jada Pinkett Smith‘s hair loss a the awards show on March 27. (She suffers from alopecia.) Smith marched up to the stage and smacked the Everybody Hates Chris star. "Keep my wife's name out your f—king mouth," the actor yelled after returning to his seat. Washington was among the first to speak with Smith after the incident, and The scandal-ridden star even name-dropped the legendary star during his Best Actor acceptance speech later that night. “I know to do what we do, you gotta be able to take abuse, and you gotta be able to have people talk crazy about you,” Smith said while accepting the Oscar for his role in King Richard. “In this business, you gotta be able to have people disrespecting you and you gotta smile and you gotta pretend like that's OK.” He continued, “Denzel said to me a few minutes ago, he said, ‘At your highest moment, be careful. That's when the devil comes for you.’ It's, like, I want to be a vessel for love.” A week later, on April 2, Washington addressed the controversy during a panel at the T.D. Jakes Leadership Summit. "There's a saying when the devil ignores you, then you know you're doing something wrong," the Tragedy of Macbeth actor said. "The devil goes, 'Oh no leave him alone, he's my favorite.' Conversely, when the devil comes at you, maybe it's because he's trying to do something right. And for whatever reason, the devil got a hold of him that night." Washington added that he couldn’t ignore what had just taken place. “No way I could have sat in my seat," he explained. "That's just not who I am. … Fortunately, there were people there, not just me but others, [like] Tyler Perry, came immediately right over there with me." Perry also has a long history with Smith. The Men in Black actor brought him along on his international press tour for Seven Pounds in 2008 to show him how to sell a film overseas. When the Madea creator opened Tyler Perry Studios a decade later, a soundstage at the 330-acre Atlanta studio was officially named in honor of Smith. Scroll down for a look inside Smith’s inner circle: ![]() “Throughout the years, I would always call Denzel," Smith told GQ in September 2021. "He’s a real sage. I was probably 48 or something like that and I called Denzel. He said, ‘Listen. You’ve got to think of it as the funky 40. Everybody’s 40s are funky.’ He said, ‘But just wait till you hit the f—k -it 50s,’ ” Smith told me. “He said, ‘Just bear with your 40s.’ I stopped and I was like, ‘The funky 40s and the f—k-it 50s.’ And that’s exactly what happened. It just became the f—k-it 50s, and I gave myself the freedom to do whatever I wanted to do.” Myung Chun/Los Angeles Times/Shutterstock ![]() When Smith's memoir Will was released in November 2021, Perry shared a photo of the book via Instagram. "Me and DJ Jazzy Jeff got started in Philly over 30 years ago," Smith told the audience. "There has never been a time in my life when I didn’t look to the side and have a great friend, and it is so important who your friends are. And DJ Jazzy Jeff, for more than half of my life, has been one of the best friends I've ever had in this world." Shanna Moakler Reacts to Travis Barker, Kourtney Kardashian's Wedding Posted: 05 Apr 2022 02:20 PM PDT ![]() Sharing her thoughts. Shanna Moakler reacted to the news that her ex-husband, Travis Barker, exchanged vows with Kourtney Kardashian. The Box Car Racer founder, 46, and the Kardashians star, 42, had a wedding ceremony in Las Vegas on Monday, April 4, hours after they attended the 64th Annual Grammy Awards. (It is not clear whether the duo obtained a marriage license, and according to TMZ, they are not yet legally wed.) “Congratulations to the happy couple,” Moakler, 47, said in a statement to People on Tuesday, April 5. “I wish them the best that life has to offer on their journey together.” The Blink-182 drummer got engaged to the Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum in October 2021 nearly one year after Us Weekly confirmed their romance. The reality star announced the proposal news via Instagram at the time, sharing photos of the couple on a California beach surrounded by roses. Moakler, who split from Barker in 2008, has been vocal about her ex-husband’s relationship with the wellness guru, especially when it comes to their children. The former pageant queen and the Famous Stars and Straps founder share son Landon, 18, and daughter Alabama, 16. Moakler is also the mother of Atiana, 23, whom she shares with ex Oscar De La Hoya. When a troll suggested her kids would become “Hollywood royalty” after their dad’s engagement to Kardashian, the Rhode Island native clapped back in an Instagram comment. "I'm their mother, they were royalty long before …" she wrote in October 2021. In a separate comment, she added, "I love that people are now telling me how I feel! lol I can't with this world." In February, an insider told Us that Moakler had “to bite her lip sometimes” while competing on season 3 of Celebrity Big Brother, which aired earlier this year. “[She] is definitely careful about what she says and mindful of what can happen as a result," the source added. "Her kids are very close to Travis so she wouldn't want to say something that would hurt them and cause their relationship to get strained again." Last year, the Hollywood Exes alum also shared her feelings about Barker and Kardashian’s 2021 Halloween costumes, which referenced the 1993 movie True Romance. "Can I just say how completely odd I find it that Kravis is bonding over the movie True Romance when that was you and his thing when you were married?” one Instagram user commented at the time. Moakler replied, "It's like an episode of Punk'd." The former Miss USA previously told Us that she thought it was “weird” that the Grammy nominee had connected with Kardashian over a film that was meaningful to their marriage. “I called him Clarence in the movie,” she explained in May 2021. “We named our daughter after the character Alabama in the movie. I walked down the aisle to 'You're So Cool' from True Romance. Our first dance at our wedding was to the love song from True Romance." Kardashian, for her part, shares Mason, 12, Penelope, 9, and Reign, 7, with ex Scott Disick, whom she dated off and on from 2006 to 2015. |
Everything to Know About Blac Chyna’s Lawsuit Against the Kardashians Posted: 05 Apr 2022 01:44 PM PDT Following Blac Chyna‘s split from Rob Kardashian, the model experienced major ups and downs with her ex and his famous family — including a legal battle that’s been ongoing for years. Chyna and Kardashian originally confirmed their relationship in January 2016. The pair got engaged after three months of dating and announced that they were expecting their first child together. Their relationship was documented for their E! reality series, Rob & Chyna, from September to December 2016. After the show was renewed for a second season, the sock designer took to social media to announce the couple’s split. Amid the on and off relationship, E! told Variety that production on Rob & Chyna would be put “on hold” in July 2017. The network noted that the spinoff had "not been in production for several months” as they plan to "follow the [Kardashian] family's lead" on what to do next. Later that year, Chyna sued the Kardashians for allegedly interfering with her reality show’s future. The rapper’s attorney, Lynne Ciani, later offered an update on Chyna’s plans to go forward with the legal battle. "Blac Chyna will seek millions in compensatory and punitive damages from Kris [Jenner], Kim [Kardashian], Khloé [Kardashian], and Kylie [Jenner] for defamation, intentional interference with contract, and intentional interference with prospective economic advantage," Ciani said in a statement to Us Weekly in October 2020. "Chyna is beyond thrilled that she will have her day in court." At the time, the lawyer claimed that Chyna's career in reality TV was "permanently damaged" as a result of the Kardashian family. Two months later, a judge ordered the production company behind Rob & Chyna, Bunim/Murray Production, to turn over any unaired footage that was shot for season 2. Chyna and Rob’s relationship made headlines again in March 2022 when the singer claimed that she didn’t receive any child support. "Yesterday I had to give up 3 of my cars … my reasons … morals, beliefs, being a single mother, no support I'm a MAMA," Chyna, who shares daughter Dream with Rob and son King with ex Tyga, tweeted at the time. Rob, for his past, pointed out that he has his daughter from Tuesdays through Saturdays while questioning his ex-fiancée’s allegations. "[I] pay 37k a year for my daughter's school," the California native wrote in an Instagram comment via the Shade Room. "I handle every single medical expense. I pay for all her extracurricular activities. Why would I pay child support? Lol." Less than a week later, Chyna offered an update on her plans to sue the Kardashian family. "I am so thankful that a jury will finally listen to what really happened behind closed doors — the lies that were told and the damage that was done," she tweeted in April 2022. "At the end of the trial, I'm going to be able to proudly tell King and Dream that I did everything I could to right the wrong that was done to me. And that, in life, it is my hope that they will be able to stand up for themselves when it matters too." Chyna claimed that the Kardashians contacted E! in February 2017 to “demand the network not proceed with a second season of Rob & Chyna.” Since the originally filing, Chyna has named solely Kim, Kris, Khloé and Kris in the lawsuit. Tiger Woods: 2022 Masters Is ‘Tough Challenge’ I'm Ready for Post-Accident Posted: 05 Apr 2022 01:12 PM PDT Tiger Woods was hospitalized in the aftermath of a single-car wreck on February 23, 2021, and authorities have officially ruled it an accident. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department issued a statement after the pro athlete was “extricated from the wreck with the ‘jaws of life’ by Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics” when his vehicle flipped over several times. The car “sustained major damage” and Woods’ manager later told Golf Digest that he “suffered multiple leg injuries.” The California native was the only passenger in the car. During a press conference at the time, more details about the crash and Woods’ condition were revealed. Authorities noted that the golf champ was conscious when first responders arrived at the scene, asserting that there was “no evidence of impairment.” Los Angeles County sheriff Alex Villanueva added, “The first contact was with the center median, from there then crossed into the opposing lane of traffic, hit the curb, hit a tree, and there were several rollovers during that process.” Later that evening, Villanueva addressed concerns from the public on the department’s Facebook page and denied the possibility of Woods facing reckless driving charges. “This is purely an accident,” the sheriff said. “We do not contemplate any charges whatsoever in this crash. This remains an accident. An accident is not a crime.” One day before his hospitalization, Woods gave Dwyane Wade and David Spade a hands-on lesson on the driving range for Golf TV and Golf Digest. The former Miami heat player opened up about spending a “great day” with the 15-time major champion. “I woke up today so proud to be able to post that moment for the world to be able to get a little snippet of our moment together,” Wade recalled during an appearance on Inside the NBA in February 2021. “And I took a nap, and I woke up to the news. … I’m just thankful that he took the time to be able to teach me a few things about the game yesterday.” The Chicago native was “shaken” after learning about what happened to Woods — and he wasn’t the only one. "The front end was totally destroyed, the bumpers, everything totally destroyed, airbags deployed, all of that," Villanueva said at the time. Sienna Miller Takes On 'Cathartic' Role About Affairs 17 Years After Scandal Posted: 05 Apr 2022 01:10 PM PDT ![]() Taking inspiration from real life? While reflecting on her role in Netflix's Anatomy of a Scandal, Sienna Miller seemingly addressed her ex-fiancé Jude Law‘s cheating scandal playing out in the public eye. "It was familiar terrain because I've experienced some of the things that she experienced. And the feelings were familiar,” Miller, 40, detailed to Elle UK on Monday, April 4, about her character Sophie’s husband being accused of infidelity in a highly publicized way. “[Sophie’s] way of dealing with what's thrown at her is the absolute antithesis of what my way is. And so, in a kind of twisted, tourism sense, I just wanted to see how it would feel to react differently.” The model noted that she appreciated the ability to use her past to connect with the role. “I know that sounds weird because you'd think it would be deeply unpleasant to sit in that space. There is something cathartic, I suppose, about spending time in an ugly space that's familiar,” she added. “And maybe reclaiming it? I don't know what the psychology of it is. But there is something where maybe you can substitute a memory with something else." Miller’s personal life made headlines after she met Law, 49, while working on the 2004 film Alfie. They got engaged later that year. In July 2005, the U.K. native, 49, issued a public apology to Miller for having an affair with his children’s nanny. "Following the reports in today's papers, I just want to say I am deeply ashamed and upset that I've hurt Sienna and the people most close to us," the Holiday star said in a statement to the British Press Association at the time. "I want to publicly apologize to Sienna and our respective families for the pain that I have caused." The pair called it quits in 2006 before rekindling their romance three years later. They pulled the plug on their relationship again in 2011. The American Woman star later opened up about the “public heartbreak” that she had to deal with while performing a play on the West End amid the scandal. "That was one of the most challenging moments I hope I'll ever have to experience," Miller told The Daily Best in December 2020. "Because with that level of public heartbreak, to have to get out of a bed let alone stand in front of 800 people every night, it's just the last thing you want to do.” The 21 Bridges star continued: "There's a whole six weeks of that experience that I don't remember. I have no recollection of it. People who came to see me said we had dinner, and I don't remember. I was in so much shock over it all. And I'd really just begun. I was only 23. But if you get through that, you feel like you can get through anything.” On Monday, the New York native recalled the ups and downs of experiencing fame. "I was just catapulted into a totally parallel universe, while being in love. There was a lot of magic at that time. At first, it was kind of comical, but very quickly it became insidious and, yeah, scary,” she explained. “And my boyfriend [at the time] had been experiencing it for years and felt, understandably, a lot of hostility towards that kind of attention. So, my initial reaction was the same. I became so litigious, just to try and carve out an existence that I could manage. You've seen women implode as a result of that. You can't hold onto sanity or grounding." Since her split from Law, Miller dated actor Tom Sturridge from 2011 to 2015. The duo share 9-year-old daughter Marlowe. The Golden Globe nominee was later linked to Lucas Zwirner. Us Weekly confirmed that Zwirner, 31, and Miller were engaged in February 2020. They ended their relationship seven months later. |
Hope Solo's Ups and Downs Through the Years: Soccer, Arrests and More Posted: 05 Apr 2022 12:59 PM PDT Keeping score. Hope Solo has been through plenty of highs and lows — both personal and professional — since beginning her U.S. soccer career. The Washington native was a goalkeeper for the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team from 2000 to 2016, winning two Olympic gold medals and a FIFA World Cup title. She was widely considered one of the best in her field, but her legacy has been tarnished for some fans due to multiple controversies. Before her contract was officially terminated, Solo was suspended more than once by the U.S. Soccer Federation, most notably in 2016 after the Rio Olympics. When the American athletes were defeated by the Swedish team and knocked out of medal contention, Solo called her opponents “a bunch of cowards.” She was officially axed from the team following her comments. “For 17 years, I dedicated my life to the U.S. Women’s National Team and did the job of a pro athlete the only way I knew how — with passion, tenacity, an unrelenting commitment to be the best goalkeeper in the world, not just for my country, but to elevate the sport for the next generation of female athletes,” she wrote in a social media statement in August 2016. “In those commitments, I have never wavered. And with so much more to give, I am saddened by the Federation’s decision to terminate my contract.” Solo continued at the time: “I could not be the player I am without being the person I am, even when I haven't made the best choices or said the right things. My entire career, I have only wanted the best for this team, for the players and the women’s game and I will continue to pursue these causes with the same unrelenting passion with which I play the game.” While reflecting on her time in the professional arena, Solo alleged that she wasn’t always treated fairly by her teammates. “It was a mean girls club,” she claimed on a January 2021 episode of “The Players” podcast. “Most players have come from rich, white families. That is the culture of the United States women's national team. It is a very privileged, white culture. … It is a much more open and welcome environment [now].” At the time, Solo argued that she felt “bullied” by some of her colleagues. Despite attempting to make a change, she claimed she and teammate Carli Lloyd were treated like outsiders. “People were not nice to us,” Solo continued. “{eople were not welcoming, they didn’t invite you to sit at the dinner table. It was really difficult growing up on the national team for me in a social aspect, as well as learning the game.” Things have been equally as challenging for the University of Washington alum off of the field. In 2018, Solo suffered a miscarriage after announcing she and husband Jerramy Stevens were expecting twins. The couple, who wed in 2012, welcomed twins Lozen and Vittorio two years later. Solo found herself in the headlines once again in March 2022 after she was arrested in North Carolina for allegedly driving under the influence with her children in the car. After she was released from police custody, her lawyer addressed the charges in a statement to Us Weekly. “On the advice of counsel, Hope can’t speak about this situation,” Rich Nichols said. “But she wants everyone to know that her kids are her life, that she was released immediately and is now at home with her family, that the story is more sympathetic than the initial charges suggest, and that she looks forward to her opportunity to defend these charges.” Scroll down to look back at Solo’s ups and downs over the years: ![]() The athletes met in college, but when Stevens professed his love for Solo in 2011, she blew him off. "I didn't know what to say," she recalled during a 2019 Elle interview. "So I said, 'F–k you,' and we didn't talk for a year." The pair tied the knot in November 2012, days after Stevens was arrested and investigated for allegedly assaulting Solo. At the time, a judge determined that there wasn't enough evidence to charge Stevens. "It was the most triumphant day," Solo gushed of her wedding in the same interview. This act goes beyond the bounds of human decency and, as such, I stand united with all the women affected and am exploring every option to protect my privacy." Mediapunch/Shutterstock ![]() The Keeping Score star was paired with Maksim Chmerkovskiy on season 13 of Dancing With the Stars, which aired in 2011. The duo landed in fourth place overall, and Solo later claimed in her 2012 memoir that the ballroom pro got aggressive during rehearsals. "One day, Maks was trying to put me in a certain position and hit my stomach so hard with his open palm that I had a red handprint there for the rest of the day," she alleged. "He manhandled me in rehearsals from the start, pushing me, whacking my stomach, bending my arms roughly." In October 2015, Chmerkovskiy called his former partner a "s--tty person" during an episode of the "Allegedly" podcast. "You can have a s--tty life growing up, but if you're a bad person, there's no excuse for that," he said. Amy Lemus/Nurphoto/Shutterstock ![]() After losing the quarterfinals of the Summer Olympics in Rio to the Swedish women, Solo slammed the "cowards" on the opposing team and was subsequently suspended by U.S. Soccer for six months. She defended her "passion, tenacity, an unrelenting commitment to be the best" in a lengthy social media statement in August 2016, writing, "I am saddened by the Federation's decision to terminate my contract. I could not be the player I am without being the person I am, even when I haven't made the best choices or said the right things." Eugenio Savio/AP/Shutterstock ![]() Two years before welcoming twins Lozen and Vittorio in 2020, Solo suffered a miscarriage. "The doctor said I was hours from dying," she recalled during a 2019 Elle interview. "They ended up having to remove my fallopian tube." Adalberto Marques/Agif/Shutterstock ![]() In May 2019, Solo told AP that she has no regrets about the trajectory of her career — even her lowest moments. "I will tell you that I am really happy where I am in life, that I fulfilled everything that I wanted to fulfill on the field," she said. "If I would have retired without a World Cup trophy, I think I never would have been able to settle into my new lifestyle. But luckily we won that 2015 World Cup and I was able to win a couple of Golden Gloves, which was a personal goal of mine, and a couple of gold medals. I hold almost every goalkeeping record. I am not sure there is much more that I could have done." Bob Frid/EPA/Shutterstock ![]() In March 2022, Us confirmed that the former goalkeeper was arrested in North Carolina on charges of impaired driving (DWI) and resisting arrest. At the time, authorities alleged that Solo's two children were in the vehicle at the time of her arrest, and she was booked for a third charge of misdemeanor child abuse. She was subsequently released from police custody and addressed the news in a statement. "For those who have reached out showing love and support, thank you. Our family is strong and surrounded with love," she wrote via Instagram. "Our kids are strong, intelligent, happy and vibrant, and we are present everyday giving them the best life possible. We will be able to share the facts in due time. ... I feel blessed to have this kind of love in my life." Winston-Salem Police Department/Mega |
Erika Jayne and Tom Girardi’s Divorce, Legal Woes: Everything We Know Posted: 05 Apr 2022 12:54 PM PDT Pat the … divorce papers. After Erika Jayne went to court to end her marriage to Tom Girardi, Bravo fans were shocked to learn that what seemed like one of the strongest couples in Real Housewives history was not so picture-perfect after all. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star announced in November 2020 that she and the powerhouse attorney had called it quits after 21 years of marriage. A source later told Us Weekly exclusively, "Erika and Tom had an unconventional marriage, spending a lot of time apart." Erika, who shares adult son Tommy with ex-husband Thomas Zizzo, met Tom in the late 1990s while waitressing at one of his favorite West Hollywood hot spots, Chasen's. One year later, she decided to give him her phone number, and he subsequently reached out to her through his secretary. "I told her, 'Tell Mr. Girardi if he wants to take me out on a date, he needs to call me himself and ask me and give me enough time to prepare,'" the Bravo personality recalled in her 2018 memoir, Pretty Mess. "You know how men are, especially if they are successful. They expect you to drop everything right away. That's not how I work, I don't care who you are." Six months into their relationship, Erika and the lawyer got engaged. They married in January 1999. "For the first 10 years of our marriage, I was by Tom's side," the "XXPEN$IVE" singer said in a February 2017 episode of RHOBH. "I was even the first lady of a couple legal organizations. Imagine that!" Due to Tom's high-power job, he has only made a few appearances on the reality series since Erika joined the cast in 2015. It is likely that their divorce will play out during season 11, which began filming in early October 2020. "People are always like, 'Oh, you guys don't see each other a lot.' But when we do see each other, it's 100 percent, full-on attention," the former Chicago star said in the February 2017 episode. "This is what people don't understand. It's not a detriment to the relationship. It's actually helpful. It's better than someone being in your face all the time and you're not even present." Scroll down for everything we know so far about the Girardis' divorce. This is an ongoing article that was originally published in November 2020 and last updated on Tuesday, April 5. ![]() The Atlanta native confirmed in a statement to Us in November 2020 that she “decided to end” her marriage to Tom “after much consideration.” She added, “This is not a step taken lightly or easily. I have great love and respect for Tom and for our years and the lives we built together. It is my absolute wish to proceed through this process with respect and with the privacy that both Tom and I deserve. I request others give us that privacy as well.” Gregory Pace/Shutterstock; Matt Baron/Shutterstock ![]() A source exclusively told Us in November 2020 that it was not uncommon for the now-estranged couple to go “several months” without seeing each other. “They would travel separately. Tom gave Erika a very lavish lifestyle, and she enjoyed it,” the insider said. “Erika has gained independence and confidence from being on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The exposure it has given for her singing career has given Erika a much larger fan base.” Bravo ![]() Erika told Andy Cohen in June 2017 that she and Tom never signed a prenuptial agreement. “I’m married to a very powerful lawyer. A prenup wouldn’t stand in his way anyway,” she said at the time. “So it doesn’t matter whether you had one or you didn’t, it’s gonna be all Tom’s way, I assure you.” Bravo ![]() Erika and Tom were hit with a lawsuit in December 2020 that accused them of embezzling settlement funds intended to help the families of Lion Air Flight 610 victims. In federal court documents obtained by Us, the class action firm Edelson PC claimed that the estranged couple’s divorce is “a sham attempt to fraudulently protect Tom and Erika’s money” and that they “are on the verge of financial collapse and locked in a downward spiral of mounting debts and dwindling funds.” Erika and Tom did not immediately comment on the allegations. Damian Dovarganes/AP/Shutterstock; Michael Simon/startraksphoto.com ![]() According to the Los Angeles Times, Erika was called to testify in the fraud case in May 2020 and September 2020 — before she filed for divorce that November. Jen Lowery/MEGA ![]() Erika requested spousal support from Tom in November 2020, according to court documents obtained by Us, in which she citied “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split. Charles Sykes/Invision/AP/Shutterstock; Damian Dovarganes/AP/Shutterstock ![]() In November 25, 2020, court documents obtained by Us, Tom requested to terminate the court’s ability to award spousal support to Erika. That’s all gone. I don’t have any money.” He added that he hasn’t “taken a penny in salary out of the firm for more than two years.” Shutterstock; Bravo ![]() In December 2020, a judge in Chicago seized Tom's assets after allegations that the estranged couple withheld $2 million in client funds following the 2018 Lion Air Flight 610 crash. Tom did not attend the contempt hearing at the time, but instead called into the proceedings. Bravo ![]() According to court documents obtained by Us, Tom was secretly hospitalized for a “serious illness” in 2020. An attorney at his firm brought up the illness during a December court date, telling the judge that Tom was “unavailable in recent weeks due to a serious illness that caused him to be hospitalized for which he sought treatment.” The paperwork stated Tom “couched everything” related to the fraud case in July 2020 because he was forced to be away from his firm amid his hospitalization. He also cited his illness as the cause of the “mistake” of not getting some of the families paid in full. The Los Angeles Times also reported that one of Tom’s attorneys believed he should be subject to a mental examination. "I'm unsure that he understands either the nature or the gravity of the current situation," the lawyer told the judge, noting the team is concerned about his mental competency. In January 2021, his brother Robert Girardi claimed Tom was suffering from short-term memory loss and requested he become his conservator as Tom is “not capable of making rational decisions” when it comes to his finances. Edelson suggested that there is more to the story with Tom’s sickness. “I’m not a doctor, I don’t know. But what I can tell you is that it seemed very convenient,” Edelson told Kate Casey in June 2021. “When we put out the facts that we found through our investigation of the types of things he was trying to do, during the time he had Alzheimer’s, where he was really scheming, he was scheming to protect himself from the fraud. He was scheming to try to keep as many possessions as possible, he was scheming to try to sell cases that he had in the pipeline to other firms.” Matt Baron/Shutterstock ![]() The bank is also suing Tom and his Girardi Keese firm, alleging he didn’t make monthly payments for rent, taxes, fees and more on their office. According to the paperwork obtained by Us, the group owes Wells Fargo $882,000. Wells Fargo is also seeking interest at 10 percent per annum from the date of default and wants to seize Girardi Keese’s Los Angeles and San Bernardino, California, properties. Shutterstock (2) ![]() Sources told Us in December that Erika believes Tom cheated on her during their 21-year marriage. “Erika is really going through it. She’s very strong, but this has been very hard for her emotionally,” an insider told Us. A second source claimed that rumors that Erika and Tom “had an agreement in terms of being with other people” weren’t true. Tom has yet to comment on the infidelity accusations. Matt Baron/Shutterstock; YouTube ![]() A source told Us that Erika never thought Tom “could be capable of doing what he has been accused of in court.” “Erika was completely unaware of the very serious allegations that were being made against Tom in court,” the source told Us, referring to the fraud accusations. “Tom always handled all of the finances and that was how they handled things. Erika feels betrayed by Tom because she completely trusted him. She is just reeling from all of this, but make no mistake. Erika is a tough cookie and she isn’t stupid. She will get through this.” According to a second source, Erika is still in "disbelief" about the alleged cheating and legal drama: “The legal issues are unfolding one after another and she’s learning as everyone’s filing. As the whole world is finding out about it, she’s finding out about it. She’s reading about it in the press before she even sees it [from her lawyers].” While she has seemingly maintained her innocence in all RHOBH footage, Jay Edelson, the lawyer who filed the class action lawsuit against the pair, claimed she was aware of the scheme. “We believe we’re going to be able to prove that Erika was incredibly involved in not just the law firm, but also, he was loaning money to her company 10s of millions of dollars to her company,” Edelson said on the “Reality Life with Kate Casey” podcast in June 2021. “And we think that money came from client funds. And we’re going to look into all of that. And that’s all going to be, you know, part of proof that we showed to a jury — that she was knee-deep in this fraud, and she can say, ‘Oh, she didn’t know anything about it.’ And I think that’s going be hard for to convince a jury of.” Shutterstock ![]() "This is Justice Tricia A. Sara De Boer/startraksphoto.com ![]() Tom appeared virtually in court on June 9, 2021, and told the judge he “disagree[d]” with the conservatorship. “I think that we should put together the reasons why the conservatorship should be dissolved, and then we’ll address it, address the court,” he said. “Right now, I have nothing to say to the court.” The judge subsequently ruled that Robert should still be named Tom’s conservator. Sara De Boer/startraksphoto.com; Damian Dovarganes/AP/Shutterstock ![]() Us confirmed on June 15, 2021, that Erika’s bankruptcy attorney filed a petition to withdraw his representation of the RHOBH star. In the doc, several of Tom’s alleged victims told their stories, including Joe Ruigomez, who said the former attorney “basically robbed” him from his settlement money after he was severely burned and scarred in 2010’s San Bruno gas pipeline explosion. The Ruigomez family and Josie Hernandez, who hasn’t received a $135,000 settlement owed to her by Girardi Keese, played voicemails from Tom promising to get their money to them as soon as he could. "I went home and started putting everything in the moving van. I drove off, went to my new place, spent the night there and he was served the next morning.” Kcr/Shutterstock ![]() Erika's legal team requested that the judge in her case reconsider appointing Ronald Richards as the bankruptcy trustee lawyer after he made comments about her on social media. Court documents from June 2021 claimed that the attorney "has made false and inflammatory social media posts and public statements" about the RHOBH star. Her lawyers also questioned whether Richards' posts "violate the ethical rules to which he is bound." Richards, for his part, said in a statement to Us that he was "hopeful that Erika’s new attorneys will cooperate with our investigation and we can move forward in a positive direction and complete our work." He added: "The court made no restrictions or gag orders in this case. If those rules change, our speech will change. The case is interesting for the public and I have enjoyed communicating with people all over the world about numerous legal issues. I look forward to working positively with her new attorney." As Richards and Erika continued to fight via social media, she told him he was “finally” on the right track after “a year of looking in the wrong direction” in October 2021 when he posted, “What does [every] attorney who worked at Girardi Keese as either an Associate, quasi Partner, or Manager have in common? Answer: Not one of them has taken responsibility for the clients they were obligated to protect and serve or gifted back any of their bonuses or salaries.” Xavier Collin/Image Press Agency/MEGA ![]() After Erika's original lawyers filed a petition to be removed from her case — then filed a second motion to stay on the case — the RHOBH star hired a new attorney to represent her. Shawn Bishop ![]() In August 2021, the trustee overseeing the bankruptcy case for Girardi Keese sued Erika for $25 million. According to court documents obtained by Us, the trustee accused the reality star of knowing that the firm paid her expenses for at least 12 years. The trustee requested that the court order here to pay back the $25 million she allegedly spent plus interest. The suit also argued that she should be personally held responsible for the funds even though the money allegedly went to her company, EJ Global LLC. “She attempts to create a distinction between handling her money directly versus paying all of her bills directly,” the documents read. “The distinction, like her prior motion for reconsideration, is meritless. Any payments made for her benefit are her responsibility.” Matt Baron/Shutterstock ![]() In September 2021, investigator Richards told Us that if Erika "voluntarily" paid back the $25 million within 10 days, the lawsuit would not proceed. “If she was interested in helping the victims, she would simply pay back some of the expenses that were improperly advanced by the law firm and improperly deducted by Erika on her LLC and personal returns," Richards said in a statement. "This would add 10 percent to her voluntarily compliance payment. It is not about the fees, it is about the victims.” The following month, Erika’s lawyer denied Richards' claims that his client is “liable” for the $25 million. “I can’t say enough that based on the evidence and law, Erika does not have liability for any of the claims against her,” he said in a statement. “All the claims against Erika amount to efforts to blame her for the actions of others, including Girardi Keese and Tom Girardi.” Jaxon/MEGA ![]() According to Richards, Erika’s case has a status conference on November 16, 2021. Nicole Weingart/Bravo ![]() Us confirmed on October 20, 2021, that Erika’s lawyer filed a new document in the bankruptcy case one day prior. “Ms. Girardi is an entertainer, never served as a lawyer at GK, and had no role in the management of the firm,” the docs read, claiming Erika “was a complete stranger to and has no knowledge of whatever transpired at GK related to the Lion Air litigation filed in November 2018, or the settlement funds that apparently were received by GK after the District Court in Illinois approved certain settlements in that litigation in the first half of 2020.” The documents also state that Erika’s “only assets are her personal possessions and income she receives from her work as an entertainer, including from the Real Housewives television program,” after she left Tom on November 3, 2020. “Ms. Girardi has no access or visibility into the bank accounts of GK, including client trust accounts, into which Edelson alleges the settlement funds in the Lion Air case were paid. If anyone has access to these accounts, it is the GK Trustee,” the paperwork read. “The GK Trustee has never contended that Ms. Girardi directly or indirectly received any of the Lion Air settlement funds; and the Trustee is the party in the best position to make that contention if it has any merit.” Gregory Pace/Shutterstock ![]() In a November 2021 court filing, Erika's lawyer asserted that his client "never had and does not have any of the fee agreements between [the Girardi Keese firm] and the Lion Air clients." He went on to claim that Edelson's case "is based on an unethical, unenforceable and illegal fee sharing agreement between Edelson and Girardi Keese, which will require that the Illinois litigation be dismissed" if copies of the documents can't be provided to the court. MediaPunch/Shutterstock ![]() When asked in November 2021 whether she would ever tie the knot again, the Bravo star was quick to respond. “No, I will not. Damian Dovarganes/AP/Shutterstock ![]() Edelson PC filed a new case against Erika and Tom in APRIL 2022, claiming that the TV personality had knowledge of her estranged husband’s alleged scheme and buried the truth to maintain her own lavish lifestyle instead of coming clean. "We believe we will be able to prove to a jury that Tom’s firm was a long-running criminal enterprise, spanning over a decade and stealing over $100 million, much of [which] went into funding Tom and Erika’s outrageous lifestyle,” Jay Edelson from Edelson PC told Us in a statement at the time. “Our filing makes clear what we have said from the start: we will fight tirelessly to hold all of the wrongdoers accountable.” The case, which was filed in the U.S. District Court — Northern District of California San Francisco, points to Erika and Tom as the wrongdoers following the Lion Air Crash in 2018. “We are aware, when it comes to Erika, that she has a powerful megaphone. We believe she has been using that megaphone to spread lies which enabled her husband’s firm to prolong its fraud,” Edelson’s statement continued. “It’s time for her to stop the lies and start taking some accountability." Edelson listed nine complaints against the estranged couple, including racketeering, conspiracy to commit racketeering, aiding and abetting concealment of stolen property and deceit. Justin Hartley and Sofia Pernas’ Relationship Timeline Posted: 05 Apr 2022 12:53 PM PDT More than four years after meeting on set, Justin Hartley and Sofia Pernas found love after heartbreak. News broke in November 2019 that the This Is Us star filed for divorce from Chrishell Stause after two years of marriage. While he listed their date of separation as July 8, 2019, the Selling Sunset star marked the end of their marriage as November 22, 2019, the same day Hartley filed the paperwork. "The divorce filing was a big surprise to everyone around Justin and Chrishell in terms of their friends," a source told Us Weekly at the time, noting that the actor "had been having problems with the marriage for a while." Stause, for her part, claimed on her Netflix reality show that she was blindsided by the filing. "I'm just kind of in shock with it all," she said in the season 3 teaser. "It's just a lot all at once because everybody in the whole world knows. I love him so much. This was my best friend. Who do I talk to now?" After Stause's costar Christine Quinn claimed that the former couple were in "in therapy" and "having communication problems for a while" before their split, the All My Children alum fired back. "[Christine] knows absolutely nothing about the situation and is obviously desperate to gain attention by doing so," she tweeted in July 2020. "Anything from her is either a complete lie or total conjecture on her part. … She has absolutely zero knowledge of the marriage we had." Hartley was previously married to Lindsay Korman from 2004 to 2012. They share daughter Isabella. While the actor has stayed mum on his split from Stause, he confirmed he was in a good place as his estranged wife feuded with her costar. "I'm a happy guy. I sleep like a baby. I don't have anything on my mind," he told Entertainment Tonight in July 2020. "I treat people the way I want to be treated and I have lovely friends who love me and I love them. And I've got this wonderful daughter, and I've got a great family, and I am a very, very lucky, lucky individual." Technically our first date was a year after we were together because that was when the world opened up.” The Brave actress also noted that she didn't have any regrets about how out of order their relationship milestones ended up because of COVID-19. “You always have these ideas as a little girl about what marriage is, and then you meet the love of your life and all those ideas sort of go by the wayside,” she explained, to which Hartley added that the highlight of their marriage was him “hanging out with my best friend.” Image Press Agency/NurPhoto/Shutterstock ![]() “You meet in different capacities. Erika Jayne Accused of Spreading 'Lies' to 'Prolong' Tom's Fraud Scheme Posted: 05 Apr 2022 12:53 PM PDT ![]() Getting pulled back in? Erika Jayne is facing a new lawsuit amid estranged husband Tom Girardi's ongoing legal woes. In a new case from Edelson PC, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 50, has been accused of using her public platform to "prolong" Girardi Keese’s alleged fraud scheme, according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly on Tuesday, April 5. “We believe we will be able to prove to a jury that Tom's firm was a long-running criminal enterprise, spanning over a decade and stealing over $100 million, much of [which] went into funding Tom and Erika's outrageous lifestyle," Jay Edelson from Edelson PC told Us in a statement on Tuesday. "Our filing makes clear what we have said from the start: we will fight tirelessly to hold all of the wrongdoers accountable." The new case, which was filed in the U.S. District Court — Northern District of California San Francisco, claims that Erika buried the truth about her 82-year-old estranged spouse's alleged wrongdoings while they were married. (The pair called it quits in November 2020 after two decades of marriage.) "We are aware, when it comes to Erika, that she has a powerful megaphone. We believe she has been using that megaphone to spread lies which enabled her husband's firm to prolong its fraud," Edelson’s statement continued. "It's time for her to stop the lies and start taking some accountability.” In the April filing — which is part of the Lion Air Flight JT 610 Crash case that has been going on since November 2018, with Erika initially being sued in December 2020 — Edelson claims that the Bravo personality's lavish lifestyle is evidence of her and Tom's misuse of funds. "Tom and Erika routinely misappropriated client settlement money to project an image of wealth and to prop up a lifestyle made for reality TV," the docs read. The new case also lists nine different complaints against the estranged couple, including racketeering, conspiracy to commit racketeering, aiding and abetting concealment of stolen property and deceit. The docs also call into question the "Pretty Mess" singer's character, alleging, "When Erika joined the cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2015, she dazzled viewers by showing off their extravagant lifestyle and her exorbitant spending habits, including her never-ending parade of designer clothes and high-end jewelry, her $250,000 Lamborghini Huracán, and her personal 24/7 'glam squad' team that she paid $40,000 per month to pick out her clothes and do her hair and makeup." However, the filing claimed that the Girardi Keese firm "was not actually making enough money to support Tom and Erika's outrageous lifestyle," which is why the former attorney allegedly "began to turn to a different source of funds." Although Edelson's previous Lion Air case against Erika was dismissed in Illinois in January, the California filing is going after the reality star for her alleged knowledge of the legal scandal. "While the core members of the Girardi Family Enterprise were defrauding the clients and stealing their money, Erika became increasingly aware that the money was drying up and that creditors were circling her," Edelson claimed in the latest docs. His firm further insinuated that Erika's November 2020 divorce filing from Tom was done "in a sham attempt to protect her assets from creditors." According to the paperwork, the Georgia native's separation was "timed perfectly, as just a few weeks later, the scheme was uncovered, and Tom and his firm were forced into bankruptcy by an avalanche of creditors, including clients such as the widows and orphans of the Lion Air crash, as well as lenders and other lawyers." Despite the legal back and forth, Erika has continued to maintain her innocence both on and off camera. "I feel terrible. This is not who I am. And I hope this is not who he is. … I hope that [Tom] has not done what is alleged here," Erika said during the season 11 RHOBH reunion in October 2021. |
Selena Gomez Says Being Diagnosed as Bipolar Was ‘Freeing’ for Her Posted: 05 Apr 2022 11:45 AM PDT Starting a dialogue. Selena Gomez has spoken candidly about her struggles with mental health over the years. The singer first sought treatment in 2014 after she was diagnosed with lupus. She has since attended various voluntary programs to manage anxiety, panic attacks and depression. Nine months after she completed treatment in January 2018, Us Weekly confirmed she was seeking "opened-ended" mental health treatment. In April 2020, the Getaway star revealed that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. “It doesn’t scare me once I know it,” she told Miley Cyrus in an episode of the latter’s “Bright Minded” Instagram series. “I think people get scared of that, right?” The Rare Beauty founder has also used her platform to raise awareness about mental health, both by hosting conversations with experts and shedding light on various issues through her projects. From 2017 to 2020, she served as an executive producer on the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, which sparked many discussions about the struggles contemporary teens and young adults face. "This is happening every day," Gomez said during an Elvis Duran and the Morning Show interview in 2017, referring to the show’s serious themes. "Whether or not you wanted to see it, that's what's happening. The content is complicated. It's dark and it has moments that are honestly very hard to swallow, and I understood that we were doing something that is difficult.” During the coronavirus pandemic, which brought mental health to the forefront for people all over the world, the “Bad Liar” songstress continued to speak out about the importance of checking in with your emotions. In October 2020, she hosted an Instagram Live with Dr. Vivek Murthy, President Joe Biden’s surgeon general, to discuss the feelings of loneliness she was experiencing while in lockdown. "In the beginning I couldn't deal with it that well," she said, discussing the early months of quarantine. "But then I started going into a place where I as writing and being active; it forced me to have that time. I've been able to spend time with those quality people a lot more than I ever have, and I'm spending a lot more time with my family." Murthy explained that Gomez’s story was a great example of why it’s important to share how you’re feeling. "If you recognize that [almost everyone is struggling in some way], you'll recognize that there's many ways to reach out," he said. "When we serve other people, we shift the focus from ourselves to them in the context of a positive interaction … and we reaffirm to ourselves that we have value to bring to the world." ![]() A rep for Gomez confirmed she sought treatment in February 2014. Shortly after, she thanked fans for their support on Instagram: “I’ve done everything I could to the best of my ability. Thank you for the unconditional love and cyber hugs. You inspire me." Allen Berezovsky/WireImage/Getty Images ![]() The Disney alum gave an inspiring speech at the We Day conference in March 2014. "I'm surrounded by people who are supposed to guide me, and some of them have, and others haven't. They pressure me. There's so much pressure. You gotta be sexy, you gotta be cute, you gotta be nice. You gotta be all these things,” she told the crowd. "They tell me what to wear, how to look, what I should say, how I should be. Until recently, I had given into that pressure. I lost sight of who I was. I listened to opinions of people, and I tried to change who I am because I thought that others would accept me for it." C Flanigan/FilmMagic/Getty Images ![]() After Gomez sent a struggling fan words of encouragement on Instagram, she screenshotted her message and shared it with her millions of followers. "By me following you is not me saying it's ok to think these thoughts. It's not me saying 'hey you said sad things, so I'm going to follow you to make you feel better'. God puts us in situations that are so unexplainably difficult for a reason. There is someone in the world feeling so much, just like you,” she wrote in February 2015. "People everyday feel so many emotions they wish they could turn it off. But that's not why we are here. We are here for relationships, for people just like us who feel worthless. Your purpose is to share, help, encourage. Remember that. Please. Before you think of taking your life, think of all the [lives] you could save. I love you. More importantly there is a God that will love more than I ever could." Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic/Getty Images ![]() In April 2016, the “Same Old Love” songstress explained her decision to go to rehab years earlier. "I got diagnosed with lupus. My mom had a very public miscarriage. So I had to cancel my tour. I needed time to just be OK,” she told GQ. ”It’s really frustrating, because I am 100 percent allowed to have that, but I think people just want to have some sort of — I understand what you’re asking. But I’m just saying, I don’t think it really matters. My past seems to be way more fascinating for people than my future, which bums me out … Why do you care?" Angela Weiss/Getty Images ![]() Gomez revealed she was taking a step back from the public eye in August 2016 to cope with the side effects from Lupus. “As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have Lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways. I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of Lupus, which can present their own challenges,” she said in a statement to Us Weekly. “I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone and by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues.” Emma McIntyre/Getty Images ![]() The “Hands to Myself” crooner made her first post-rehab appearance at the American Music Awards in November 2016. “In 2014 this stage was actually the first time I was authentically 100 percent honest with all of you,” a teary Gomez told the audience. “I think it’s safe to say most of you know a lot of my life whether I liked it or not. I had to stop because I had everything and I was absolutely broken inside and I kept it all together enough to where I would never let you down, but I kept it too much together to where I let myself down.” “I don’t want to see your bodies on Instagram. I want to see what’s in here,” Gomez continued while pointing to her heart. “I’m so grateful to be able to share what I love with people that I love. You guys are so damn loyal but if you are broken you do not have to stay broken.” Barcroft Images/Barcroft Media/Getty Images ![]() Gomez shared an emotional message with fans on Thanksgiving Day in 2016, admitting it was her “hardest” but “most rewarding” year yet. “I’ve finally fought the fight of not 'being enough.' I have only wanted to reflect the love you guys have given me for years and show how important it is to take care of YOU,” she wrote. “By grace through faith. Kindness always wins. I love you guys. God bless.” Kevin Winter/Getty Images ![]() While promoting season 1 of 13 Reasons Why, Gomez, who served as an executive producer on the series, revealed she related to the story. “I went away for 90 days and I actually met tons of kids in this place [and] we are talking about a lot of the issues that these characters are experiencing, [so] I would say yes,” Gomez said during a panel in February 2017. “I had to deal with it on a different scale. Whether it was kids or just growing up in the biggest high school in the world which was the Disney Channel, it was also adults that had the audacity to kind of tell me how I should live my life. It was very confusing for me. … I had no idea who I was gonna be, what I'm still going to become. It definitely hit home.” She added: “I think this is what they need to see. We are not gonna post things, like, ‘Hey be empowered,' because that's not what they wanna see. Kids don't care. They have to see something that's gonna shake something. I want them to understand it. I would do anything to have a good influence on this generation. It's hard, but I definitely relate to everything going on.” JB Lacroix/WireImage/Getty Images ![]() Gomez admitted to Vogue in March 2017 that she feels “really lonely” on tour. “My self-esteem was shot. I was depressed, anxious. I started to have panic attacks right before getting on stage, or right after leaving the stage. Basically I felt I wasn’t good enough, wasn’t capable,” she revealed. “I felt I wasn’t giving my fans anything, and they could see it—which, I think, was a complete distortion. I was so used to performing for kids.” “At concerts I used to make the entire crowd raise up their pinkies and make a pinky promise never to allow anybody to make them feel that they weren’t good enough. Suddenly I have kids smoking and drinking at my shows, people in their 20s, 30s, and I’m looking into their eyes, and I don’t know what to say. I couldn’t say, ‘Everybody, let’s pinky-promise that you’re beautiful!’” Gomez continued. “It doesn’t work that way, and I know it because I’m dealing with the same shit they’re dealing with. What I wanted to say is that life is so stressful, and I get the desire to just escape it. But I wasn’t figuring my own stuff out, so I felt I had no wisdom to share. And so maybe I thought everybody out there was thinking, This is a waste of time.” Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images ![]() When Gomez moderated a movie screening for Heaven Knows What in August 2017, she revealed she “really like the mental aspect” of the film. “The beginning of the movie struck with me… that’s not really a secret, but, I for sure have talked about that and have done a lot of those exercises.” Jeff Spicer/Getty Images ![]() “Anyone who knows me knows I will always start with my health and my well-being,” she began in her March 2018 Harper’s Bazaar cover story. “I’ve had a lot of issues with depression and anxiety, and I’ve been very vocal about it, but it’s not something I feel I’ll ever overcome. There won’t be a day when I’m like, ‘Here I am in a pretty dress — I won!’ I think it’s a battle I’m gonna have to face for the rest of my life, and I’m OK with that because I know that I’m choosing myself over anything else.” Samir Hussein /WireImage/Getty Images ![]() “The beauty myth- an obsession with physical perfection that traps modern woman in an endless cycle of hopelessness, self consciousness, and self-hatred as she tries to fulfill society’s impossible definition of flawless beauty,” Gomez wrote on Instagram in March 2018. “I chose to take care of myself because I want to, not to prove anything to anyone. Wind in her sails.” Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images ![]() After Gomez completed another stint in treatment in December 2018, she broke her silence via Instagram the following January. “It’s been awhile since you have heard from me, but I wanted to wish everyone a happy new year and to thank you for your love and support,” she wrote. “Last year was definitely a year of self-reflection, challenges and growth. It’s always those challenges which show you who you are and what you are capable of overcoming. Trust me, it’s not easy, but I am proud of the person I am becoming and look forward to the year ahead. Love you all.” George Pimentel/Getty Images for Sundance Film Festival ![]() Gomez sang about her mental health battle in a song with Julia Michaels titled “Anxiety,” released in January 2019. “But all my friends they don't know, what it's like, what it's like / They don't understand why, I can't sleep through the night,” she sings. “And I thought that I could take something to fix it / Damn I wish it, I wish it was that simple, ah, ah.” Emma McIntyre/AMA2017/Getty Images for dcp ![]() “I feel great, yeah,” she told NPR in January 2020. “I'm on the proper medication that I need to be on, even as far as my mental health. I fully believe in just making sure you check in with your doctors or therapist. [Taking care of mental health — ] that's forever. That's something I will have to continue to work on. Yes, I don't think I just magically feel better. I have days where it is hard for me to get out of bed, or I have major anxiety attacks. All of that still happens.” Global Citizen/Shutterstock ![]() The “Lose You to Love Me” singer opened up about seeking professional help and treatment during an interview with WSJ. Magazine in January 2020. "I found out I do suffer from mental health issues. And, honestly, that was such a relief," she said. "I realized that there was a way to get help and to find people that you trust. I got on the right medication, and my life has been completely changed.” Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP/Shutterstock ![]() In April 2020, Gomez revealed she was bipolar during an appearance on Miley Cyrus’ Instagram Live series, Bright Minded: Live With Miley. “Recently I went to one of the best mental hospitals in the world … And I discussed that after years of going through a lot of different things I realized that I was bipolar,” she explained. “When I have more information, it actually helps me, it doesn’t scare me once I know it,” the former child actress continued. “When I finally said what I was going to say, I wanted to know everything about it and it took the fear away.” Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP/Shutterstock ![]() During a virtual WarnerMedia Television Critics Association press tour in August 2020, Gomez spoke about her diagnosis and coping amid the coronavirus pandemic. "It's not easy for anyone to be walking through what we're walking through. It's not normal, and it's affecting people, specifically with mental health, and people who could have never thought about things they're thinking about now. And it's really confusing.” Willy Sanjuan/Invision/AP/Shutterstock ![]() In March 2021, the 13 Reasons Why producer spoke about when she knew she needed help. “I knew I couldn’t go on unless I learned to listen to my body and mind when I really needed help,” she told Vogue. “And then I start thinking about my personal life, and I’m like, ‘What am I doing with my life?’ and it becomes this spiral.” Matt Baron/Shutterstock ![]() In April 2021, the "Lose You to Love Me" songstress announced a new campaign with her Rare Beauty brand "to help support mental health education, empower our community and encourage financial support for more mental health services in educational settings." In an Instagram post about the new initiative, called Mental Health 101, Gomez opened up about her own past struggles with depression, explaining that she wants her experience to remind others coping with mental health issues that they are not alone. "I know firsthand how scary and lonely it can feel to face anxiety and depression by yourself at a young age," she wrote. "If I had learned about my mental health earlier on — been taught about my condition in school that way I was taught about other subjects — my journey could have looked very different. The world needs to know that mental health matters. It's just as important as your physical health, and I wish we could all acknowledge that, not just in words but through our actions." Shutterstock ![]() Gomez candidly spoke about her treatment via a Vogue Australia interview in June 2021. “I’ve studied DBT, which is Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I’ve been to four treatment centers,” she explained. “I think in mental health, I never understood the stigma until I went to my first treatment center because that was years ago. But then there was a photograph that got out, and it’s wild to see how mean they were. It was like: ‘She’s the next this person, she’s the childhood star,’ whatever. And: ‘She’s doing drugs.’ They’re saying all this stuff about me. I’m watching all of that change, slowly but surely, because now, if any media outlet made fun of me, they’re the ones that look like the asshole because we don’t tolerate that anymore. It’s actually crazy that I’m watching it happen, even though I know we have so much more to do. And I have goals. I want to put this as a curriculum into schools. I feel like I practice [DBT] every day … And then I also love being in the studio. Because the first hour I’m in a studio, I just talk. It’s like therapy. You just go in and you share your heart.” Chelsea Lauren/Shutterstock ![]() In June 2021, the beauty founder spoke with Stellar magazine about how “impossible beauty standards” took a toll on her mental health, which inspired her to launch her own makeup brand. “Society constantly tells us that we’re not enough, so I wanted to start a brand to challenge and eliminate that pressure – to change the conversation,” she said. "My goal with Rare Beauty is to break down these unrealistic standards of beauty. I saw from personal experience how these impossible beauty standards were having such an effect on my mental health and I know a lot of people who felt the same way.” Richard Shotwell/Invision/AP/Shutterstock ![]() “My lupus, my kidney transplant, chemotherapy, having a mental illness, going through very public heartbreaks — these were all things that honestly should have taken me down,” Gomez said in Elle’s first LatinX issue, published in August 2021. “Every time I went through something, I was like, ‘What else? What else am I going to have to deal with?’” The former Disney Channel star explained that she looked inward to get the strength to move forward. “You’re going to help people,” she recalled telling herself. “That’s really what kept me going. There could have been a time when I wasn’t strong enough and would have done something to hurt myself.” Inez & Vinoodh ![]() In October 2021, the former child star recalled feeling "an immense amount of pressure" to set a good example for her fans early on in her career. "It was really confusing growing up, and once people created this narrative of my life, I realized I can't be quiet anymore," she told Beauty Inc. of the "unrealistic" expectations she was held to as a young actress and singer. "I have to just address what needs to be addressed, and that's me reclaiming my story, which is, 'OK, yeah, I was definitely going through a hard time, and this is why, and this is what I deal with.'" Shutterstock ![]() In a November 2021 interview with Entrepreneur magazine, Gomez revealed she teamed up with her mom, Mandy Teefy, and Daniella Pierson to launch the Official Wondermind, a mental fitness company. Teefey struggles with ADHD and anxiety, while Pierson has OCD. "[The conversation between the three of us] is one of the moments I felt closest to my mom — us coming together to talk about something we each have experienced in our own manner. It was wonderful," Gomez said. "And then to be understood by Daniella was even better." Shutterstock ![]() “Sometimes I’m not good at [taking care of my mind], like, it just happened where I’ll wake up and I struggle maybe sometimes just getting out of bed,” Gomez admitted via a December 2021 Instagram video via the official Wondermind page. “What helps me, first and foremost, just picking up the phone and calling someone. Travis and Kourtney's 'Impulse' Wedding: Families Found Out 'Right Before' Posted: 05 Apr 2022 11:05 AM PDT Keeping up with the Barkers! Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker didn't tell their families about their Las Vegas wedding ceremony "until right beforehand," a source exclusively tells Us Weekly. "It was totally impulse," the insider reveals. "They had had such an amazing night and thought it was would be fun." The Kardashians star, 42, and Blink-182 drummer, 46, held a small vow exchange at Sin City's One Love Wedding Chapel in the early hours of Monday, April 4, chapel owner Marty Frierson confirmed to Us. As of 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, Las Vegas’ Clark County Clerk’s Office “has not issued a marriage license to Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker,” Us confirmed. "They will have a bigger celebration with more of their families there, but this was a special night just for the two of them," the source further told Us. The couple were in town for the 2022 Grammy Awards, where Barker took the Grammys stage with H.E.R. and Lenny Kravitz — and made out with Kardashian. They packed on the PDA on the red carpet and all throughout the awards show on Sunday, April 3. Just hours later, they hit the chapel. The pair chose the One Love Affair package, Frierson told Us, noting the wedding "takes 30-40 minutes to complete." "The vibe was just love," he added. "They came in, went right to the chapel and did their ceremony." Frierson revealed that the Poosh founder "got married, danced, threw the bouquet and then went off." Kardashian and Barker, who have been friends for years, first started dating in January 2021. Nine months later, in October 2021, the "All the Small Things" artist proposed to the reality star on the beach in Santa Barbara, surrounded by rose petals. The moment was captured on camera and will be shown on the Kardashian-Jenners‘ upcoming Hulu series, The Kardashians. "Travis spent forever getting the details right," an insider told Us at the time. "They both have talked about their wedding and engagement before, but Kourtney was very surprised." The two have never been shy about their love for one another, as evidenced by their public makeout sessions and Barker's multiple tattoos dedicated to Kardashian. The pair also bonded over their love for their children. The lifestyle guru co-parents Mason, 12, Penelope, 9, and Reign, 7, with ex-partner Scott Disick, while the "What's My Age Again?" singer shares son Landon, 18, and daughter Alabama, 16, with ex-wife Shanna Moakler. Barker previously revealed how being with Kardashian empowers him and helps him face his fears. “It’s still something very new to me, but having something that gives me the strength and hope to be able to overcome things that were so traumatic in my life, it just says a ton,” he told Nylon in September 2021, referring to his first time flying since he was involved in a deadly plane crash in 2008. "She’s definitely that for me. I’m invincible when I’m with her." |
Relive Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith's Romance: 1st Meeting to Oscars 2022 Posted: 05 Apr 2022 10:42 AM PDT In it for the long haul! Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have one of the longest lasting marriages in Hollywood, but they have weathered numerous ups and downs in the years since they tied the knot. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum met the actress in 1994, but the two did not begin dating until the following year. They married on New Year's Eve in 1997. Nearly 20 years later, however, the Girls Trip star admitted that she regretted beginning her relationship with Will while he was still married to his ex-wife, Sheree Zampino. “Because I did not understand marriage, I did not understand divorce,” she said during the 2018 premiere episode of Red Table Talk, which featured Zampino as a guest. “I probably should have fell back.” Despite their rocky beginnings, the two women bonded after Jada met Trey, Zampino’s son with Will. "She was my entry point to motherhood,” the Baltimore native explained. “I was co-mothering with her. At that particular time, before [having a blended family] was popular, before it was even an idea, we were trying to create something that we had never experienced." In July 1998, Will and Jada welcomed son Jaden. Their daughter, Willow, followed in 2000. While the couple became a model for marriage among celebrities, they dealt with drama behind the scenes, frequently shooting down divorce rumors and even going so far as to split up for a time. "I was done with your ass. I was done with you," Will admitted with a laugh during a July 2020 episode of Red Table Talk revealing they had separated in 2015. "Marriages have that though. We decided that we were going to separate for a period of time and you go figure out how to make yourself happy and I'll try to figure out how to make myself happy. I really felt like we could be over." The pair stopped talking at the time, and Jada entered into a brief "entanglement" with August Alsina. The Hitch star and the Hawthorne alum eventually reconciled though. Despite their rocky road, the duo previously insisted that they did not consider divorcing. "Because I had been divorced before, I wasn't getting divorced again. Divorce wasn't an option," the Philadelphia native stressed on Red Table Talk in October 2018. "I was devastated even worse than a divorce. We broke up within our marriage and got back together again. We had to rebuild with new rules and something way, completely different." At the conclusion of their July 2020 discussion about their marriage, they reiterated their stance on their unbreakable relationship. "We ride together. We die together. Bad marriage for life," they said, referencing a quote from Will’s Bad Boys film series. There’s no deal breakers. There’s nothing she could do — ever. Nothing that would break our relationship. She has my support till death and it feels so good to get to that space.” Shutterstock ![]() August Alsina claimed in June 2020 that he had an affair with Jada, for which Will gave his blessing. However, the A Different World alum retorted in July 2020 that she got into an “entanglement” with the rapper without her husband’s blessing during a period when they were separated in 2015. Jada said she'd decided to go bald after too many years of dealing with the added stress of hair care. “It was just time," she explained. "I was just ready for that kind of expression and release. So, she grew up in a way that was very different than how I grew up,” Will told GQ’s Wesley Lowery while discussing his memoir, Will, in September 2021. There were significant endless discussions about, what is relational perfection? What is the perfect way to interact as a couple? And for the large part of our relationship, monogamy was what we chose, not thinking of monogamy as the only relational perfection.” The Hitch actor hinted that the couple had their own understanding about outside romances, noting that Jada wasn’t the only one who had extramarital affairs. “We have given each other trust and freedom, with the belief that everybody has to find their own way. And marriage for us can’t be a prison,” he said. “And I don’t suggest our road for anybody. I don’t suggest this road for anybody. But the experiences that the freedoms that we’ve given one another and the unconditional support, to me, is the highest definition of love.” Will also touched upon his wife’s public declarations about her “entanglement” with Alsina. “The public has a narrative that is impenetrable,” he explained. “Once the public decides something, it’s difficult to impossible to dislodge the pictures and ideas and perceptions.” The Pursuit of Happyness actor didn’t expand on his wife’s comments, but he did say she wasn’t the only one to stray during their romance. “A viewer could have walked away thinking that Jada was the only one engaging in other sexual relationships, when that was not, Smith delicately explained to me, in fact the case,” Lowery wrote after speaking with Will. Phil Mccarten/Invision/AP/Shutterstock ![]() The Will author, who won for his role in King Richard, stepped out on the Oscars red carpet alongside Jada. During the evening, the pair made headlines before the best actor category was announced when Chris Rock made a G.I. Jane joke about Jada, who has been open about suffering from hair loss. The actress rolled her eyes, and then Will walked up on the stage at the Dolby Theater and slapped Rock before he returned to his seat. "Keep my wife's name out your f--king mouth!" he shouted at the presenter. Rock had previously made jokes at Jada's expense at awards shows in years past. Will won the Oscar for Best Actor shortly after. In his acceptance speech, he apologized for his behavior. “I want to apologize to the Academy, I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees," he said with tears in his eyes. "Art imitates life. I look like the crazy father just like they said about Richard Williams. Love will make you do crazy things.” Jordan Strauss/AP/Shutterstock ![]() "Jada absolutely loves and adores Will,” a source exclusively told Us of the couple post-Oscars drama. “They're an unbreakable couple and they will be together forever. He was winning one of the most important awards of his life and the entire night became about Will and Chris [and] neither of them wanted that.” Despite Will’s controversial actions during the Oscars, the duo will continue to “stick together through thick and thin,” per the source. “They have been through a lot together and this is just another battle for them." Jason Momoa Addresses Kate Beckinsale Dating Rumors After Cozy Oscars Pics Posted: 05 Apr 2022 10:42 AM PDT ![]() Nothing to it! Jason Momoa is clarifying his relationship status after he was spotted offering his jacket to Kate Beckinsale outside of the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty. The Aquaman star, 42, told Extra on Monday, April 4, that he and Beckinsale, 48, were simply having a friendly chat after the March 27 awards show. “It was cray,” Momoa said of the speculation. “[I] have a conversation with a woman about her country, I was in England doing Aquaman 2. Everyone is like, ‘Are you dating?’ No, no, it was chivalry. The woman was cold.” Fans began to wonder whether the Hawaii native had already moved on after splitting from estranged wife Lisa Bonet when he was photographed with the Underworld actress in Los Angeles last month. In pics published by the Daily Mail, Momoa and Beckinsale gazed into each other’s eyes while they were deep in conversation. Though the twosome appeared cozy, the Game of Thrones alum denies it was anything more than platonic. “Absolutely not, not together,” he told Extra. “She is very nice. I was being very nice, just being a gentleman. Now I am not giving my coat to anyone.” Momoa shares children Lola, 14, and Nakoa-Wolf, 13, with Bonet, 54, whom he wed in 2017 after more than a decade together. The pair announced their separation via Instagram in January. “We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding ~and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring And so~ We share our Family news~ That we are parting ways in marriage,” they noted in a joint statement. “We share this not because we think it's newsworthy ~ But so that~ as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty.” The duo added, “The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other ~to be who we are learning to become. Our devotion unwavering to this sacred life and our Children. Teaching our Children What’s possible.” Fans were shocked to see the High Fidelity actress and the Dune star go their separate ways, but a source exclusively told Us Weekly that the now-estranged couple were “different” in major ways. “He was jovial, loud and the center of attention, and Lisa was always cool, calm and subdued,” the insider explained in January. “That energy really started to cause friction because they wanted to live different lives.” Despite their breakup, Momoa has made it clear that he and Bonet will always be part of each other’s lives. The Baywatch: Hawaii alum even supported former stepdaughter Zoë Kravitz at the premiere of her movie The Batman last month. “We’re just so proud. Lisa couldn’t be here so we’re representing, me and the babies,” he told Entertainment Tonight at the event, which he attended with Lola and Nakoa-Wolf. “We’re very excited to just be here. … It’s still family, you know?” Beckinsale, for her part, was previously married to Len Wiseman from 2004 to 2019. She shares daughter Lily, 23, with ex Michael Sheen. The Serendipity star has since been linked to Machine Gun Kelly, Pete Davidson and Goody Grace. |
Kourtney and Travis Chose Wedding Chapel for Its Elvis Impersonator Posted: 05 Apr 2022 10:40 AM PDT ![]() They couldn’t help falling in love with the venue. Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker chose the One Love Chapel in Las Vegas so they could be married by an Elvis Presley impersonator. “We had Elvis Presley. That was the deal sealer,” owner Marty Frierson exclusively tells Us Weekly about the couple’s wedding ceremony. The Poosh founder, 42, exchanged vows with the Blink 182 drummer, 46, in the early hours of Monday, April 4, after Barker performed alongside H.E.R. and Lenny Kravitz at the 2022 Grammy Awards. “They called up first and mentioned a celebrity was coming … They got there [at] 1:45. I had Elvis there and they got married.” It’s unclear whether or not the couple obtained a marriage license. According to TMZ, which broke the news of the ceremony, the pair are not legally married yet. According to Frierson, the happy couple paid extra to have the impersonator present at their ceremony. Kardashian and Barker chose the One Love Affair package to celebrate the occasion, which includes a 24-hour concierge, a rose bouquet and boutonniere, a song of the couple's choice and photos from the special event. The entire service costs $199 for one hour, although the owner noted that their ceremony took “about 30-40 minutes tops.” “It was very romantic. A lot of kissing and dancing. It was very, very romantic,” Frierson added, noting that “the vibe was just love” between the twosome. Kardashian and Barker’s milestone comes just six months after the musician popped the question at the Rosewood Miramar Beach Hotel. A source told Us in January that they were “so ready to be husband and wife” and were planning a wedding in 2022. “It's going to be some time this year and could even be as soon as this spring,” the insider said at the time. “They couldn't be more in love.” The source added that the duo were “really excited” about planning a wedding and were trying to keep the specifics under wraps until the big day. “[Kourtney] doesn't want any details of her wedding getting out as she wants it to be a surprise to guests,” the insider explained. "It's going to be a fairy tale wedding for sure, though.” In the meantime, the reality TV star is much more comfortable sharing her relationship with Barker on her family’s upcoming Hulu series, The Kardashians. “There is a lot of us on there, and we've had such a good time doing it because we have such a good time when we're together, but I definitely want to protect it as much as I can. But also, this is my life,” Kardashian told Variety in March about chronicling her relationship with the rocker on the new series. She continued: “He obviously has a full-time job and a full career … But I think he's happy to [film], and we have had so much fun while we've been filming certain things that we're doing, so I'll just invite the producers to come along.” Kris Jenner confirmed that the couple will appear on The Kardashians during her Tuesday, April 5 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she joked that Kardashian and Barker’s PDA makes up “98 percent of the new show.” |

Counting On’s Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard’s Relationship Timeline Posted: 05 Apr 2022 10:40 AM PDT Keeping up with the Dillards! Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard's romance has captivated audiences for years, beginning with their whirlwind courtship. The 19 Kids and Counting alum, who is the fourth child of Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar, found her future husband through her father, making their road to marriage somewhat seamless. The duo's courtship began in 2013, after Dillard had become close with Jim Bob during his two-year mission to Nepal. "Being that we had similar life goals, she caught my attention," Dillard wrote via the couple's wedding website in 2014, noting he spoke with her on the phone once before she came to visit him in Nepal alongside her dad. "The more I spent time with him and observed his integrity, sweet spirit and love for God and service to others, the more I fell in love with him," Jill explained on the duo's website, noting that her trip to see him shifted their relationship and officially started their courtship. Once Dillard returned to the U.S. in 2014, the pair's romance heated up and the attorney proposed in March of that year. "We're just really trying to keep our relationship focused not on the physical but really just more on communication and continuing to learn more about each other," Jill told ABC after their engagement. "We're saving our first kiss and things beyond that for our wedding." Several weeks before tying the knot in June 2014, Jill expressed how glad she was "to be engaged to the most awesome guy in the world" via Twitter. The couple have since welcomed two sons, Israel and Samuel, and been vocal about how they keep their romance alive. "Sex is a super important part of marriage, but it's also important to prioritize fun and intimacy that leads to a healthy marriage, including a healthy sex life," the Counting On alum said of her relationship with her husband during a February 2021 YouTube video, in which they described how they talk to their kids about sex. The pair then explained in kid-friendly terms that babies get born after their parents have a "date" and then they start growing "inside of mommy's tummy." In the clip, Jill chimed in, saying the duo had "a bunch of dates" before becoming parents. Dillard cheekily replied, "We did have four dates in one day, I think, that one time." Jill added, "Hey, we have a good sex life." Jill explained that Dillard had called her father to give him an update on his mission when she walked into the room. “My dad told Derick I had just come in the room and asked him to tell me a little bit about himself,” she said. “We talked briefly that evening, however, in the months following I didn’t think much about him.” ![]() “I continued speaking with Jim Bob (Jill’s dad) over the summer, but didn’t speak with Jill again until August,” Dillard wrote, noting that during that time he was “praying about Jill” and trying to figure out what was next for them. That’s when we made that decision.” After they stopped filming the reality show, the mother of two explained that there has been “some distancing” with her parents and siblings. “We’re not on the best terms with some of my family. Whoopi Goldberg Says Will Smith ‘Will Be Fine’ After Slapping Chris Rock Posted: 05 Apr 2022 10:22 AM PDT Not worried. After Will Smith received major backlash for slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars, Whoopi Goldberg compared the Academy Award winner’s future to Louis C.K. and Kanye West‘s recent Grammy wins. “Some people found [C.K. and West’s wins] controversial, but the show didn’t have anything like last week’s controversy, which is fine,” Goldberg, 66, said during an episode of The View on Monday, April 4. The talk show host was referring to the Louie alum, 54, winning a Grammy for Best Comedy Album on Sunday, April 3, nearly five years after he was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women. He later confirmed the allegations. West, 44, has also made headlines recently for his controversial comments on social media. The rapper, who won two Grammys on Sunday, April 3, was banned from perfuming during the show after calling host Trevor Noah racial slurs. According to Goldberg, the Grammy wins set a precedent for Smith, 53, amid his incident at the Oscars late last month. “Also some of Will Smith’s future projects are in question. The question is, does he have a path back? Yes, of course, he does,” she added. “He’ll be fine, he’ll be back. No worries.” During the 94th annual Academy Awards, the Suicide Squad star raised eyebrows when he slapped Rock, 57, for a joke he made about Jada Pinkett Smith‘s shaved head. After Smith apologized to the comedian on social media, he resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. “My actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful, and inexcusable,” the Philadelphia native said in a statement on Friday, April 1, according to Variety. “The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home. I betrayed the trust of the Academy.” At the time, Goldberg explained that she appreciated Smith’s response to the backlash even though “nobody is OK with what happened” at the awards show. The Sister Act star also praised how the Academy handled the situation during the live event. “The reason no one got up to go comfort Chris is because they weren’t gonna let anybody else on the stage,” she said on The View on March 28. “There were people there for Chris. The reason people got up and went over to [Will] is because I think a lot of people thought, ‘Oh my God, is he having a break? Do we need to get him out? What do we need to do?’ ” The New York native added: “The reason they didn’t go and take him out is because that would’ve been another 15-to-20-minute explanation of why we’re taking the Black man out, five seconds before they’re about to decide whether he’s won an Oscar or not. I believe [producer] Will Packer made the right decision. He said let’s get through the rest of this so we can deal with it wholeheartedly. So that’s what went on.” Amid reports from The Hollywood Reporter that Smith’s projects with Netflix and Sony were being shelved, a source told Us Weekly that Pinkett Smith, 50, is not “angry with” her husband. “It was in the heat of the moment and it was him overreacting. He knows that, she knows that. They’re in agreement that he overreacted,” the source exclusively told Us about the couple, noting that the Girls Trip actress “wishes” Smith didn’t get physical on stage. |
Andrew Garfield and Alyssa Miller’s Relationship Timeline Posted: 05 Apr 2022 10:09 AM PDT Still going strong! After several months of dating, Andrew Garfield and Alyssa Miller appear to be fighting back against split rumors. The Amazing Spider-Man star and the model were first linked in November 2021 after they were spotted together in New York City. That same month, Garfield gave a rare comment about his personal life. “I’m not in the public eye to a great degree because I’ve designed it that way for myself,” he told Bustle. “For my work, I’m fine with it, but otherwise I fight for my right for a private, personal life. My right to be ordinary. My right to be a mess. My right to be sorrowful. My right to lose, to get it wrong, to be stupid, to be a person.” Prior to Miller, Garfield dated costar Emma Stone for four years. The twosome called it quits in 2015. "They still have a lot of love for one another and they are on good terms with each other and remain close," a source told Us Weekly at the time. "It just wasn't working." Two years later, the actor confirmed they were still on good terms. "We care about each other so much, and that's a given, that's kind of this unconditional thing," he said on the magazine's "Little Gold Men" podcast in January 2017. "There's so much love between us and so much respect. … I'm her biggest fan as an artist. So for me, it's been bliss to be able to watch her success and watch her bloom into the actress that she is. And it's been wonderful to have that kind of support for each other. It's nothing but a beautiful thing." Stone went on to marry Dave McCary and welcomed their first child in 2021. Miller, for her part, was previously linked to Jake Gyllenhaal. The former couple dated for six months from 2013 to 2014. Garfield and Miller made their relationship red carpet official at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in February 2022. The duo kept close at the awards show, but they were the subject of split rumors just weeks later. The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model seemingly shut down the reports by taking their romance to Instagram for the first time in April 2022.
