Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen's Relationship Timeline Posted: 14 Mar 2022 04:29 PM PDT Almost 20 years and counting! Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron‘s chance meeting at a 2002 event in Australia led to a lifetime of happiness for the pair. Looking back at their first encounter at the “very pretentious party" years later, the comedian admitted that he knew immediately that the actress was The One for him. "I knew instantly. I don't know if she did. It's taken her about 20 years to know," Cohen told The New York Times in October 2020. Two years after sparking romance rumors, the couple got engaged, but Fisher admitted that she preferred to keep her relationship with Cohen as under the radar as possible. “I’m not really comfortable talking about my private life and Sacha and I are probably very similar in that we hide our feelings behind humor,” the Confessions of a Shopaholic actress shared with the Daily Mail in August 2008. As they prepared for their nuptials, Fisher ended up making the decision to convert to Judaism in honor of her then-fiancé. "I will definitely have a Jewish wedding just to be with Sacha. I would do anything — move into any religion — to be united in marriage with him," she explained to the Evening Standard ahead of their 2011 ceremony. For Fisher, the crucial part was all about having their loved ones at the event. "It [was] very important to me to have a beautiful ritual celebrated with my family and friends. And when you are in the public eye, to keep that private and to make it happen without it being really visible is really difficult," she admitted to Allure in January 2009. Prior to getting married though, the couple welcomed their first daughter, Olivia, in 2007. After getting married in March 2011, the twosome welcomed their second daughter, Elula, several months later. The Now You See Me star and the Borat actor continued to focus on making sure their growing family had the privacy they wanted. "Motherhood is my favorite topic but I never talk about it publicly. As much as I love what I am doing, and I am so fortunate to have the opportunities that I have had, my responsibility is to my family," Fisher told Us Weekly in March 2011 about adjusting to life as a parent. As Fisher and Cohen’s marriage blossomed with the addition of their two daughters, the Scooby-Doo star admitted that it took work to stay together year after year. "Choosing to be together every day is incredibly romantic. I love marriage. I think it's a wonderful institution and it's the most important decision you make," she told Australia's Sunday Telegraph in October 2012. "Life is filled with highs and lows, and you have a best friend to share it with you. It's amazing. It's like winning the lottery, having a good partner." Even though the duo had their individual hectic work schedules, Fisher explained that they would always choose family before anything else. “Family is 100 percent my top priority. So I’m much more comfortable doing supporting roles right now. And often,” the Arrested Development alum detailed to The Telegraph in July 2013. Two years later, Cohen and Fisher welcomed their son, Montgomery, into the family. Scroll down to relive Cohen and Fisher’s relatable romance: ![]() The duo met at a party in Sydney, Australia. He’s so funny on set and it was a lot of fun," Fisher gushed about Cohen at the time. Richard Shotwell/Invision/AP/Shutterstock ![]() In a rare interview, Fisher acknowledged that her decision to keep her life private has only added to the intrigue. "It feels like now it’s an interesting news point that I don’t want to talk about it. Yet when I started out, it was interesting that people wanted to talk about their private life. No one could believe it," Fisher told Today in October 2017. "Everyone was like 'Oh, my God. Can you believe she is talking about her private life, whoever it was.' Nowadays, we are used to everyone sharing everything that I’ve become an interesting news story for keeping a secret." Although many think Fisher prefers her privacy, she clarified that she does get many visitors due to her faith. "But I do have an open-door policy and people come over all of the time. I do big Shabbat dinners. Everybody gets access to my family time once a week," she noted. John Photography/Shutterstock ![]() The Definitely, Maybe star revealed that Cohen's advice changed the trajectory of her career. "Sacha was the reason I got into comedy. I was actually auditioning for a lot of dramatic roles and having no success at all," she told The Examiner. "I was losing confidence in my abilities when he recommended that I do comedy. He felt I was really funny, so when someone as funny as him recommends that, I listened and actually auditioned for Wedding Crashers, which ended up being my big break." He's really intense.' He's got the eyes, and he's playing the piano," the actress recalled telling Fisher at a get-together. Fisher quickly relayed the message to her husband, who wasted no time in letting the Snow Patrol musician know about Cox's crush."Sacha walks up [to McDaid and Gary Lightbody] and says, 'Hey! Still Going Strong! Ansel Elgort, Violetta Komyshan's Relationship Timeline Posted: 14 Mar 2022 03:46 PM PDT From high school sweethearts to forever? Ansel Elgort and Violetta Komyshan met when they were teenagers and have been dating on and off ever since. “I was with my friend, and he was walking down the block. I didn’t even know he went to my school — I just thought he was really attractive. I looked at him and told my friend, ‘Oh, my God, that guy’s so hot,’ and she’s like, ‘Oh, that’s Ansel, he goes to LaGuardia,'" Komyshan recalled to Cosmopolitan in December 2017. "He waited for me [after school] the next day and told our friend to introduce us and I was like, 'OK, he totally liked me yesterday.' Then I made her come with us to Starbucks. We exchanged numbers and became friends, and then we started dating when I was at the end of [my] sophomore year." The twosome hit their first roadblock in 2014, the same year the actor's profile rose following the release of The Fault in Our Stars. “They tried to navigate his commitments, but between filming and press for the movies [it got difficult],” an insider told Us Weekly that August, noting that Elgort pulled the plug on their two-year romance. However, the couple were back together by early 2015. "I was doing OK, but I knew something was missing, and I was like, ‘Oh, that’s love,'" he told Details magazine of their reunion that February. As Elgort's movie career continued and Komyshan found success as a dancer, the duo had to navigate dating in the public eye. "Sometimes they'll insult what I'm wearing or something, but who cares? It's fashion, whatever. I just stay away from that. It's more positive than negative. Maybe in the beginning when he first started posting me on his Instagram, people would be like, 'Who's this girl, blah blah blah?'" Komyshan said in her 2017 Cosmopolitan feature. "But now they're like, 'I'm so jealous, but you guys are so cute!’" Up until the coronavirus pandemic began in early 2020, Elgort and Komyshan weren't afraid to pack on the PDA at sporting events and on red carpets for awards shows. While rumors later swirled that there was trouble in paradise as they kept their relationship more low-key, Komyshan was by Elgort's side at the long-awaited premiere of West Side Story in November 2021. Scroll through for a timeline of their romance: ![]() The twosome started dating at the end of Komyshan’s sophomore year at LaGuardia High School in New York. Andy Kropa/Invision/AP/Shutterstock ![]() Us reported in August 2014 that the actor, who was 20 at the time, pulled the plug on their relationship due to his busy schedule. Kristina Bumphrey/Starpix/Shutterstock ![]() By January, the pair were back together. "They just missed each other," a source told Us at the time. "He thought his schedule was too much to have a girlfriend during, he's been touring nonstop for movies and working on music, but they talked throughout.” Henry Lamb/Photowire/BEI/Shutterstock ![]() The couple proved to be going strong in 2017, with Komyshan appearing in Elgort’s music video his song “Thief” and attending the premiere of his movie Baby Driver in June. Matt Baron/Shutterstock ![]() Elgort made headlines in fall 2019 when he told The Sunday Times that he’d “like to find a lot more love” in the next five years. “It doesn’t need to be sexual. I could be done sexually with my girlfriend,” he said at the time. “I think we’ve been pretty clear that I want to feel free to fall in love with people and that [option] should be open, but sexually it can be closed off.” WARREN TODA/EPA-EFE/Shutterstock ![]() The actor was in the press again when his West Side Story star Rachel Zegler temporarily quit Twitter over his fans accusing the actress of coming between Elgort and Komyshan. “The DMs and the name-calling and throwing around the word homewrecker over me expressing genuine love i have for my coworker is heartbreaking and i don’t want any part of it. So peace for now, i guess. Be nice,” she wrote in October 2019. Courtesy of Rachel Zegler/Instagram ![]() In June 2020, Elgort spoke out after he was accused of sexual assault stemming from an alleged 2014 encounter with a 17-year-old fan. “I cannot claim to understand Gabby’s feelings but her description of events is simply not what happened. I have never and would never assault anyone. What is true is that in New York in 2014, when I was 20, Gabby and I had a brief, legal and entirely consensual relationship,” he said via Instagram at the time. “Unfortunately, I did not handle the breakup well. I stopped responding to her, which is an immature and cruel thing to do to someone. I know this belated apology does not absolve me of my unacceptable behavior when I disappeared. As I look back at my attitude, I am disgusted and deeply ashamed of the way I acted. I am truly sorry. I know I must continue to reflect, learn, and work to grow in empathy.” Shutterstock ![]() After Komyshan appeared to delete several snaps of Elgort from her social media pages following the allegations, she sparked rumors that the twosome called it quits. The breakup speculation continued into 2021 as the pair weren’t spotted together for months. Love Is Blind's Shaina Is Engaged to Boyfriend Chris After Kyle Split Posted: 14 Mar 2022 03:45 PM PDT Happily ever after! Shaina Hurley is officially engaged to boyfriend Christos “Chris” Lardakis, a source confirms to Us Weekly. The exciting news comes shortly after fans watched Hurley’s journey to find The One on season 2 of Love Is Blind. The Chicago native, 32, initially found herself connecting with Kyle Abrams and Shayne Jansen. Hurley ended up getting engaged to Abrams, 29, in the pods, but she later told Jansen, 32, about her feelings for him. Hurley and Abrams called it quits after leaving the pods ahead of the reunion special, which was released earlier this month. At the time, Hurley opened up about feeling pressured to accept a proposal that she wasn’t ready for. “It was a people-pleasing moment and I should have never said yes to you. I should have never said yes,” she shared. ![]() The hairstylist later admitted that she wasn’t sure if the contractor was the right person for her when they met on the hit Netflix series. “Because even before he proposed, I was like, ‘I don’t know how it’s gonna work.’ … I was trying to be open-minded because this is an experiment,” she explained on the “Viall Files” podcast on March 2. “This was, like, 10 days — people are acting like this was years. … During the reveal, I had [the] intention, [then] I’m like, ‘You know what? I don’t know if we should be doing this.’ And when I saw him, it was like, ‘Oh, my God, this is real.'” Hurley also noted that a pivotal conversation between her and her now ex-fiancé ended up not making it into the show. “I was very honest with Kyle and I had told them like, ‘I can’t do this,'” she added at the time. “I broke up with him for a reason. And I had explained that to him in Mexico, and I wanted to go home. I was kind of over it at that point. And I just needed to see my family again, like, we weren’t able to see them for about three weeks, so I had no outside influence.” During the podcast, Hurley revealed that she has since moved on with her “pretty serious” boyfriend, saying, “He’s been great throughout the whole situation. I’m happy.” The Netflix personality went on to make her romance with Lardakis Instagram official on Sunday, March 13, writing, “My ride or die forever |
