NBA Rumors: LA Clippers Could Get Kyrie Irving For Three Players & Five Draft Picks

Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving is one of the NBA superstars who have a strong chance of being traded during the 2021-22 NBA season. The Nets are yet to make Irving officially available on the trading block but with his refusal to get vaccinated against COVID-19, most people believe that it would only be a matter of time before Brooklyn explores the possibility of trading "Uncle Drew."

In the past weeks, several teams that are in dire need of additional star power on their roster have already been linked to Irving.

Kyrie Irving To LA Clippers

One of the most intriguing landing spots for Irving before the 2022 NBA trade deadline is the Los Angeles Clippers. In a recent article, Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report explained why a trade to the Clippers would make a lot of sense for Irving.

"The Clippers, a franchise that would reunite Irving with the head coach (Tyronn Lue) he won a championship with," Swartz wrote. "While Los Angeles joined New York and San Francisco as cities with strict vaccine mandates, the new rule does not affect Staples Center, meaning Irving could participate in all home and away games whether he chooses to get vaccinated or not."

Proposed Trade Package To Acquire Kyrie Irving

Swartz came up with a blockbuster trade idea that would enable the Clippers to acquire Irving from the Nets before the 2022 NBA trade deadline. In the proposed trade scenario, the Clippers would be sending a package that includes Eric Bledsoe, Luke Kennard, Keon Johnson, a 2028 first-round pick, and second-round picks in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 to the Nets in exchange for Irving and Jevon Carter.

If the trade would push through, Swartz believes it would help the Nets and the Clippers in filling up the needs to improve on their roster.

Clippers Get An All-Star Caliber PG

Despite his refusal to get vaccinated, Irving would be an incredible addition to the Clippers. The Clippers may have granted Kawhi Leonard's request after trading for Bledsoe, but "The Klaw" would undeniably be happier if they get a point guard of Irving's caliber. Irving would be a massive upgrade over Bledsoe.

Aside from being an incredible playmaker, Irving would also give the Clippers a prolific scorer and an elite three-point shooter. Last season, he averaged 26.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 1.4 steals while shooting 50.6 percent from the field and 40.2 percent from beyond the arc, per ESPN.

Nets Receive Win-Now Help

The proposed blockbuster trade would be worth exploring for the Nets if the situation involving Irving gets out of hand and becomes a major distraction for the team in the 2021-22 NBA season. By sending him to Los Angeles, the Nets would be acquiring a vaccinated point guard with plenty of playoff experience in Bledsoe, a sniper in Kennard, a talented prospect in Johnson, and multiple future draft assets.

Bledsoe may not be as good as Irving but as long as he can stay away from injuries, he's capable of filling the hole that he would be leaving in the Nets' backcourt.

Cardinals' Coaches & Players React On Zach Ertz' Debut Performance

When they found a way to end the drama surrounding them before the start of the 2021 NFL season, most people were expecting veteran tight end Zach Ertz to spend the entire year with the Philadelphia Eagles. During that time, Ertz said that he intended to finish his NFL career with the Eagles.

However, with the emergence of Dallas Goedert in the City of Brotherly Love, the Eagles have decided to trade Ertz to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for Tay Gowan and a future first-round draft pick.

Ertz' Cardinals Debut

Nine days after the Eagles surprisingly sent him to Arizona, Ertz made his debut game with the Cardinals. In Week 7 of the 2021 NFL season, the 30-year-old tight end joined the Cardinals in their game against the Houston Texans. In their dominant 31-5 victory over the Texans, Ertz immediately showed why the Cardinals made the right decision to get him from the Eagles.

According to ESPN, Ertz caught three of his five targets for 66 yards, including 47-yard catch-and-run which is the longest touchdown of his career. On the game's second play, he earned a standing ovation after catching an 11-yard pass from Cardinals quarterback Kyle Murray.

Kyler Murray Praises Zach Ertz' Ability To Learn Quickly

Though it's just their first game as a teammate, Ertz and Murray have already displayed good chemistry on the field. In a post-game interview, Murray praised Ertz's ability to learn the Cardinals' system quickly.

"He is great. He had a quick week, but he learned it quickly," Murray said, as quoted by CBS Sports. "I think we helped him out a lot as far as signals and all that stuff and knowing where to be. He did well today, obviously, he scored today so it was a good day for him."

Coach Kliff Kingsbury Reacts To Zach Ertz' Debut

Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury wasn't able to join the Cardinals when Ertz made his team debut against the Texans on Sunday night due to COVID-19 protocols. However, Kingsbury has an idea why the Cardinals didn't have a hard time incorporating Ertz into their system.

"He's a Stanford grad so we knew he could handle the load mentally," Kingsbury said. "I didn't get to be there this week, but just listening to the guys talk about his professionalism, attention to detail, he was dialed in from the first day he was out there."

Deandre Hopkins Impressed By Zach Ertz

Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins couldn't also hide his amusement after seeing Ertz make his team debut in Week 7 of the 2021 NFL season. Though veteran tight end Maxx Williams was somehow performing well before he suffered a season-ending knee injury when they played against the San Francisco 49ers, Hopkins said that Ertz, who is a three-time Pro Bowl, is on a different level.

Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young is once again establishing an impressive performance in the 2021-22 NBA season. In the three games he played, the 23-year-old superstar is averaging 25.0 points, 10.0 assists, and 1.3 steals while shooting 45.8 percent from the field and 31.3 percent from beyond the arc, per ESPN. So far, the Hawks are 2-1, tied with the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, and the Washington Wizards in the No. 4 spot in the Eastern Conference.

Trae Young Making Adjustments

However, though he remains explosive on the offensive end of the floor, Young still has to make certain adjustments with his game this season, especially after the league made some changes regarding the rules on foul calls. According to Jack Maloney of CBS Sports, the NBA told referees not to call fouls on "non-basketball moves."

These include scenarios wherein offensive players jump into defenders at an abnormal angle and when they use their off-hand/arm to hook a defender. Since the rules were implemented, it earned mixed reactions from players and coaches.

"I've been in a lot of meetings with [NBA head of referee training and development] Monty [McCutchen], trying to make sure what's a foul and what's not."

Young's strategy in dealing with the new NBA rules on foul calls is undeniably clever, but he believes that he's not the only player who reached out to league officials to learn about the changes.

"The league is good at that — being open to communicating about anything," Young told Stein. "Especially if a guy has questions. It's not just me. I'm sure a lot of other guys have called and just tried to get more clarification on what's a foul and what's not."

Steve Nash & James Harden Comment On New NBA Rules

Among the people who seemed displeased by the new NBA rules regarding foul calls are Coach Steve Nash and Brooklyn Nets shooting guard James Harden. After Harden only got one free throw in the Nets' 111-95 loss to the Charlotte Hornets, Nash said that "The Beard" has unfairly become the "poster boy" of not calling fouls.

Meanwhile, despite being greatly affected by the changes, Harden said that he has no plan to complain about it. Like Young, he wants to focus on learning the new rules and improving his performance on both ends of the floor.

If the trade becomes a reality, Patuto believes it would help both teams in filling up the needs to improve on their roster.

Porzingis would be an incredible addition to the Thunder. Despite failing to live up to expectations in Dallas, he remains one of the most promising big men in the league. At 26, he still fits the timeline of Thunder point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

With the years he spent with Doncic, Porzingis has learned how to excel on the court with a superstar point guard. The pairing of Porzingis and SGA won't immediately make the Thunder an instant favorite to capture the Larry O'Brien Trophy, but it would put them closer to becoming a legitimate playoff contender again in the loaded Western Conference.

Kristaps Porzingis On-Court Impact On Thunder

The successful acquisition of Porzingis from the Mavericks would help the Thunder improve their performance on both ends of the floor. He would be a major upgrade over Derrick Favors and Isaiah Roby at the Thunder's starting center position.

Porzingis would give them a very reliable scoring option under the basket, a great rebounder, rim protector, and floor-spacer. Last season, he averaged 20.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks while shooting 47.6 percent from the field and 37.6 percent from beyond the arc, per ESPN.

Would The Mavericks Make The Trade?

Meanwhile, for the Mavericks, the potential deal would allow them to replace Porzingis with an elite defender in Dort.

"Dort has been an intriguing prospect because of his potential and he could reach it under the guidance of Luka Doncic," Patuto wrote. "There would be a significant upgrade in the Mavericks' on-ball defensive capabilities with Dort — addressing a real area of need."

However, even if they would also be receiving Williams and a future first-round selection in return, it remains a big question mark if the Mavericks would consider such a trade. If they decide to move Porzingis, it would likely be in a deal that would enable them to acquire an All-Star caliber player that they could pair with Doncic.

In a recent article, Greg Patuto of NBA Analysis Network came up with a hypothetical blockbuster trade idea that would enable the Thunder to acquire Wiggins from the Warriors this season.

In the proposed trade scenario, the Thunder would be sending a package that includes Derrick Favors, Kenrich Williams, a 2022 first-round pick, and a 2022 second-round pick to the Warriors in exchange for Wiggins.

Wiggins With Shai Gilgeous-Alexander In OKC

Wiggins would be an intriguing addition to a young, rebuilding team like the Thunder. At 26, Wiggins still fits the timeline of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who is currently considered the face of the Thunder's franchise. With his experience playing with Stephen Curry in Golden State, the former No. 1 pick wouldn't have a hard time building chemistry with a superstar point guard like SGA in OKC.

Pairing Wiggins with Gilgeous-Alexander won't make the Thunder an instant title contender, but it would give them a realistic chance of making a huge noise in the Western Conference this season.

Andrew Wiggins Boosts Thunder's Offense

The potential arrival of Wiggins in Oklahoma City is expected to boost the Thunder's offense. He would give them a very reliable scoring option next to Gilgeous-Alexander, as well as a decent rebounder, on-court facilitator, wing defender, and floor-spacer.

This season, he is averaging 15.3 points and 5.7 rebounds while shooting 44.7 percent from the field and 43.8 percent from beyond the arc, per ESPN. His numbers are expected to further improve once he starts playing for a team that could give him more playing time and a significant role on the offensive end of the floor.

Does The Trade Make Sense For The Warriors?

Bringing Favors to Golden State would make sense for the Warriors, especially now that James Wiseman is still recovering from an injury. Favors may no longer be in his prime, but he still has some gas left in his tank. While Wiseman is recovering from an injury, Favors could serve as the Warriors' temporary starting center, giving them a veteran big man who is capable of knocking down shots from beyond the arc.

However, despite what he could contribute on the floor, it remains a big question mark if the Warriors would be willing to trade Wiggins for Favors, Williams, and future draft asses. As of now, the Warriors are only expected to move Wiggins if they would be receiving an All-Star caliber player in return.

Warner Bros. Addresses Ruby Rose's Abuse Allegations Against 'Batwoman' Co-Star

Warner Bros. is speaking out in defense of actor Dougray Scott.

After actress Ruby Rose took to her Instagram page, where she shared a slew of allegations against Scott, claiming he was abusive to a number of women on the set of Batwoman and suggesting her attempts to intervene were shut down, the studio released a statement, shutting down Rose's accusations against Scott and revealing that Rose was actually fired from the production due to her own reported bad behavior on set.

Rose Claims Scott Hurt A Female Stunt Double

In a statement to her 17.6 million followers, Ruby made shocking accusations against her former Batman co-star.

"Dougray hurt a female stunt double, he yelled like a little b-tch at women and was a nightmare. He left when he wanted and arrived when he wanted. He abused women and in turn as a lead of a show I sent an email asking for a non-yelling policy. They declined," she shared.

But according to Warner Bros., that was not the case at all.

Warner Bros. Condemns Ruby Rose's Statements

"We condemn the comments made by Rose about Scott," the studio told the New York Post on October 25. "Warner Bros. has found Mr. Scott to be a consummate professional, and never received any allegation against him of bullying, or of abusive behavior on his part. Mr. Scott was greatly respected and admired by his colleagues, and was a leader on the set."

According to Warner Bros., they opted against renewing Rose's contract to appear in Batwoman due to her own antics.

Allegedly 'Multiple Complaints' Against Rose

According to the studio, they were the ones who decided to cut ties with Rose.

"Warner Bros. Television did not pick up Ruby Rose's option for an additional season because of multiple complaints about workplace behavior that were extensively reviewed by the Studio," they explained.

The studio went on to say that Rose's initial claims against Scott were "revisionist history" as numerous insiders told the Post that the actor and his family were having a hard time coping with Rose's upsetting claims.

Dougray Scott Spoke Out Against Abuse Claims

In a statement of his own, Scott defended himself against Rose's allegations.

In a statement to The Wrap last week, on October 22, Scott said, "As Warner Bros. Television has stated, they decided not to exercise the option to engage Ruby for Season 2 of 'Batwoman' based on multiple complaints about her workplace behavior."

"I absolutely and completely refute the defamatory and damaging claims made against me by her; they are entirely made up and never happened," he continued in the statement.
