The Road kicked off its first night of competition with the 12 emerging artists handpicked by Blake Shelton, Taylor Sheridan and Keith Urban to compete in the new CBS singing competition in which they serve as the opening act for Keith. Their first stop was at Tannehill's Music Hall in Ft. Worth, Texas.

For their first performance of the season, the 12 artists had to sing an original song to impress the audience who will vote. The bottom three vote getters will then be assessed by Blake and Keith and one will be eliminated, the remaining 11 get back on the bus and head to their next gig in hopes of surviving the next 10 weeks and winning the grand prize: a slot at Stagecoach, a recording contract and $250,000.

Who finished in the Top 3 on The Road?

The Top 3 were Cassidy Daniels, Cody Hibbard, and Adam Sanders.

"You guys just came out swinging tonight, the energy was great," Keith told them. To Cassidy he added, "When you came out barefoot and completely swag loose, the whole audience felt that." To Adam he said, "You came out guns blazing." Then he told them all, "If you want the audience to feel a certain way, you have to start by being that way yourself."

Who was in The Road bottom three this week?

Blake announced the bottom three: Olivia Harris, Forrest McCurren and Blaine Bailey.

"It sucks but it's just about how you connected with this particular audience tonight that came out to see Keith. Forrest, I'll start with you. You bring such a unique take on performing, you've got to figure out how to take that guy and connect with people; and Olivia, we're in Fort Worth, Texas, a lot of these people are cowboys who came to town for the weekend rodeo, maybe that particular song wasn't enough to rile them up; and Blaine, I think Keith said it best earlier, whatever you give them is kind of what you can expect to get back from them. We all felt that you maybe had the least amount of connection to the audience tonight, and I'm sorry, for that reason, we're going to have to send you home."

"It's like all of us experience this," Keith added. "You play somewhere on a certain night and for some reason that crowd just doesn't connect with what you do and who you are. You go to the next town the next night that crowd does, and nothing's changed about you. You just found something that lined up with that audience that night."

Blaine said, "I'm really thankful for this opportunity and that I got to be a part of this thing. I'm going to keep on going. This is just another bump in the road."

The Road will air Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CBS and stream next day on Paramount+.
