Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt and husband Chris Pratt's son Ford is reaching milestones full steam ahead.
In this week's issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday, the author, 35, says her son, who turns 1 on Nov. 8, is currently "a crawling maniac."
"He's just pulling up on everything, giving me a heart attack," she says. "It's wild how there's something new every single day, and it's a beautiful experience. No day is the same."
Schwarzenegger Pratt adds that Ford's older sisters, Lyla, 5, and Eloise, 3, "are just obsessed with holding and taking care of" their brother. "Eloise is my bath time helper, and Lyla is always my helper for holding him," she says.

Her kids' bond reminds her of the same one she shares with her younger siblings: sister Christina, 34, and brothers Patrick, 32, and Christopher, 28.
"It reminds me so much of all the fun that I had with Patrick growing up, and of course I'm a little bit older than Christopher, but I had so much fun with him too," she says. "It's the biggest blessing that I have such a close relationship with my sister and both of my brothers, and I'm so grateful to be able to watch our kids be a similar age difference and have fun with each other."
"My daughter Lyla is very similar to how I was when I was little, and Eloise has a lot of similarities to me and also to my sister," she continues. "Ford is similar to Patrick and also to Chris. It's a wonderful combination. My mom [Maria Shriver] saved all of our outfits, so to be able to dress them up and recreate so many pictures is fun."

Schwarzenegger Pratt is also stepmom to Pratt's 13-year-old son Jack with ex-wife Anna Faris, and she says she continues "to learn so much" in the role. "Just like parenting, you learn something new every single day," she says.
While writing her new children's book Kat and Brandy, Schwarzenegger Pratt made it a family affair.
"When I wrote my first children's book [released in 2017], I didn't even have kids. Now, I spend so much time reading books with my kids every night and understanding what they like and don't like," she says. "It's a great test group."

In the book, out Nov. 4, Schwarzenegger Pratt writes about how she was able to gain the confidence to get back in the saddle when she was a kid after falling off a horse, thanks to the special bond she developed with a white rescue pony named Brandy.
"She really helped me overcome fears and tap into my inner bravery and courage," she says. "My goal for this book is for kids to feel seen in their fears and encouraged to overcome them."
Recently, Lyla and Eloise realized for the first time that the Kat and Brandy characters in the book are based on their mom and her horse.
"It was a sweet little light bulb moment for them," she says. "It was really special and oddly emotional and sentimental to be able to read the book to them. This book is not only talking about overcoming fears but also about the healing power of animals."
Kat and Brandy will hit shelves on Nov. 4 and is now available for preorder, wherever books are sold.
