Michael J. Fox revealed the one item he took from the set of Family Ties, and it might surprise fans.
"I had a whale from Family Ties – the whale above the sink, above the stove," Fox, 64, told Donny Deutsch during a recent discussion to promote his new book, Future Boy, per People.
"It was a brass whale that I took," Fox continued of the prop. "I didn't take anything valuable."
Fox rose to fame while starring on the beloved sitcom, which ran from 1982 until 1989, as Alex P. Keaton. Set during the Reagan administration, the show followed liberal couple Steven Keaton (Michael Gross) and Elyse Keaton (Meredith Baxter) as they raised their children Alex, Mallory (Justine Bateman), Jennifer (Tina Yothers) and Andy (Brian Bonsall).
In light of the success of Family Ties, Fox's star only continued to rise when he starred as Marty McFly in Back to the Future in 1985. The film was so successful that it was expanded into a trilogy.
During the recent conversation, Fox also revealed the props he wished he took from the Back to the Future movies. Fox said he was "stupid" for not taking the iconic red Gibson ES-345 in the movie, adding with regret, "I should've taken the goddamn guitar."
The instrument in question, which Fox used to play "Johnny B. Goode" on at the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance in the first movie, has reportedly been missing since production wrapped.
The prop was so important to the cast that they teamed up with Gibson Guitars to track down the missing guitar in honor of the film's 40th anniversary in July, per People.
There's no denying that the cast of Back to the Future loves the franchise, and star Lea Thompson previously opened up about which film in the franchise was her favorite.

"For me, it's Back to the Future 1 because it's just a perfect screenplay. And as a director, I can appreciate the conciseness of it," Thompson, 64, revealed to People in July. "And the truth is that Back to the Future 2 and 3 were supposed to be kind of like one movie, and then they spread it out into two. So, it wasn't constructed in the same way as Back to the Future was. So I just think it's a perfect screenplay."
While looking back on the first film, Thompson shared "when we made Back to the Future, we didn't even think we were going to make a sequel. There was no sequel deal. There was no concept of that. I mean, that's how long ago it was."
Thompson also explained there was a reason that the third film didn't stick out to her as her favorite. "I didn't have a very good part in the third one, so that would naturally be out for me. But I know that Christopher Lloyd likes that one best," she said.
