Jordan Addison doesn't play a single snap for Vikings in first quarter against Browns due to coach's decision
When the Minnesota Vikings took the field in Week 5, one notable player found himself on the sideline for the entire first quarter. That would be Jordan Addison, who apparently missed the quarter due to a coach's decision.
The entire issue was shrouded in mystery during the contest. When Addison did not see the field for the Vikings' first two drives, some wondered whether the 23-year-old receiver was injured. That, apparently, wasn't the case, the team told ESPN's Kevin Seifert.
There is no injury for Jordan Addison, Vikings say. His absence has been due to coach's decision.

Whatever happened with Addison, things were forgiven once the second quarter started. When the team took the field for its first snap of the second quarter, Addison was back out there.
It was a disappointing development for Addison, who was suspended for the first three games of the 2025 season after a 2024 DUI arrest. Addison returned to action in Week 4, where he caught four passes for 114 yards in a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Given the secrecy surrounding Addison's first-quarter benching, both he and Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell will likely be asked about it at some point after the game. It's unclear whether either will provide an explanation for Addison's early absence.
