Darius McCrary, the actor best known as Eddie Winslow from the '90s sitcom "Family Matters," is being held without bail on a felony charge of being a fugitive from another state.
McCrary, 49, is being held at the San Diego County Jail after United States Border Patrol officers arrested him on Sunday, Oct. 5, according to online records. His charge is listed as "fugitive arrest," and he is not eligible for release. The actor is set to appear in court on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
McCrary's rep Ann Barlow confirmed a warrant was issued in Michigan for his arrest due to a missed court appearance for failure to pay child support, following a lengthy dispute with the mother of his 18-year-old son. Barlow said the court appearance notice was sent to the actor's P.O. Box rather than his address on file, and due to being sick with COVID-19, he did not check it in time for the appearance.
Barlow said at the time of his arrest, he was headed to Tijuana, Mexico, to build homes for the homeless.
USA TODAY has reached out to U.S. Customs and Border Protection for comment.
McCrary starred as Eddie Winslow, the teenage son of Carl Winslow, in the hit 1980s-90s sitcom "Family Matters" opposite Reginald VelJohnson, Jaleel White, Jo Marie Payton and Kellie Shanygne Williams. He is also known for playing Malcolm Withers on "The Young and the Restless," Otis Leecan on "Star" as well as starring in NBC's "Committed," UPN's "Eve" and FX's "Anger Management."
