Anna Wintour made a rare comment about the blockbuster film The Devil Wears Prada, a movie widely believed to be based on her persona as Vogue's most powerful figure.
Ahead of the highly anticipated sequel, the fashion legend dished on her honest opinion about the movie and why it once sparked concern within the industry.
On The New Yorker Radio Hour podcast, the 73-year-old shared that she showed up to the film's premiere in a Prada ensemble.
Moreover, she mentioned that at the time she had "completely no idea what the film was going to be about."
After seeing the film, Wintour said she was delighted, especially with the cast lineup.
"First of all, it was Meryl Streep, which, fantastic," she said. "And then I went to see the film, and I found it highly enjoyable. It was very funny."
Wintour also talked about Streep's amazing co-star, who added flair and energy to the movie.
"In the end, it had a lot of humor to it, it had a lot of wit, it had Meryl Streep. I mean, it was Emily Blunt," she continued. "They were all amazing. And in the end, I thought it was a fair shot."
The Devil Wears Prada was based on the novel of the same name written by Lauren Weisberger, who worked as Wintour's assistant at Vogue in 1999.
The story follows Andrea Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway, who lands a job as assistant to the formidable fashion editor Miranda Priestly, portrayed by Meryl Streep.

During her time at the fictional fashion magazine Runway, she meets fellow assistant Emily Charlton and Stanley Tucci's character Nigel, a top employee at Runway and close confidant of Priestly.
On the other hand, Vogue's former editor-in-chief revealed that the industry feared the movie would portray her unfavorably despite the publisher's denial that it was based on her.
"The fashion industry were very sweetly concerned for me about the film, that it was going to paint me in some kind of difficult light," she recalled.
After 20 years, the iconic movie will get a sequel with the majority of the original cast reprising their roles.
As for the new faces, the upcoming film adds Kenneth Branagh, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Lucy Liu, Pauline Chalamet and Simone Ashley.
With production officially underway as of June 30, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set to arrive in theaters in 2026.
