The Philadelphia Eagles are adding another wide receiver for Jalen Hurts to work with ahead of the season.
The Eagles struck a deal to land Houston Texans wide receiver John Metchie III on Sunday afternoon, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. In return, the Texans will receive tight end Harrison Bryant. The two teams will also swap future day three draft picks in the deal.

Metchie is entering his third season in the league this fall. The 25-year-old, who the Texans took with the No. 44 overall pick in 2022 out of Alabama, had a career-high 254 yards and a touchdown on 24 catches last season in Houston.
Though Metchie won't be the top guy in Philadelphia by any means, he should be a valuable addition for Hurts and the Eagles this fall as they attempt to back up their Super Bowl run. The Eagles averaged just 187.9 receiving yards per game last season, which was better than only three other teams in the league while they largely relied on Saquon Barkley and their dominant run game — which trailed only the Baltimore Ravens in the same category. Metchie will join stars AJ Brown, who had his third straight 1,000-yard season last year, and former Alabama teammate DeVonta Smith in Philadelphia. Jahan Dotson and Johnny Wilson are back this season, too, to round out the wide receivers room.
The move to deal Metchie isn't too surprising considering the group that was sitting ahead of him on the depth chart — which included big names like Nico Collins, Christian Kirk and Jayden Higgins. The Texans will also get Bryant, who struck a one-year, $1.2 million deal with the Eagles earlier this year. Bryant, who the Cleveland Browns took in the fourth round of the 2020 draft out of Florida Atlantic, had 86 yards on nine catches in just 13 games last season with the Las Vegas Raiders while battling an ankle injury for a significant portion of the campaign.
The Texans made the playoffs for a second straight season last year, but they fell in the divisional round once again. They'll open the season against the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 7. The Eagles will open the regular season on Sept. 4 when they host the Dallas Cowboys.
