Izzy Darnell, the younger sister of Kylan Darnell, has dropped Bama Rush

She made the announcement through a TikTok video shared right before bid day

"Izzy rushed, she wanted to see for herself. It just wasn't for her," Izzy and Kylan's mother Tonya Darnell said

Izzy Darnell has made her decision.

The University of Alabama freshman dropped Bama Rush right before bid day. The younger sister of Kylan Darnell — who is known online as the "Queen of Sorority Rush" — revealed the news in a TikTok video posted on Aug. 16.

In the clip, Izzy can be seen on a beach, grabbing a white envelope with "BID" written on it. Lip-syncing to a part of Britney Spears' "Oops!…I Did It Again," she then rips it up and begins dancing in the ocean.

"Haha fooled yall again," Izzy wrote over the seconds-long video. In her caption, she added: "Little do you know I dropped first."

In the comments section of the post, Izzy and Kylan's mom, Tonya Darnell said, "Izzy rushed, she wanted to see for herself. It just wasn't for her💗."

Bid Day at the University of Alabama is taking place on Aug. 17. Kylan had been cheering on her younger sister Izzy all week, as she navigated the whirlwind of recruitment.Izzy's large social media following — over one million followers on TikTok — had many speculating that sororities might shy away from offering a bid to the younger Darnell, as Greek Life at Alabama has typically favored a tighter-lipped online presence.

The past week came with ups and downs for the sisters, as they've navigated an influx of comments and online scrutiny. Kylan even announced that she would be taking a step back from her senior year of rush.

Though she quickly returned for the second round of rush, she spoke candidly with PEOPLE in the interim about the decision to take a step back, saying that she had been "struggling mentally with some things during rush," citing the pressure of having "all eyes" on her during rush.Kylan also spoke about how the pressure of social media has impacted Izzy, who spent the week recruiting for a sorority, as opposed to Kylan, who is an active member.

"I saw a video of somebody saying that my sister didn't even get accepted to the university," Kylan said. "It was a bit ridiculous. I've got comments where people are going in on my sorority sisters and creating more drama for me."Despite the noise, however, the Alabama senior said that she made sure to let Izzy know that she could make the process her own."I got to have my own opinion when rushing," she said, reflecting on her own freshman year recruitment experience, which catapulted her to fame in 2022.

"And I feel like a lot of people forget that Izzy's her own person, that she can have her own opinion, that she doesn't have to do everything that I did the way I did it, that she's her own person," she continued.

Of the social media scrutiny directed at her sister, Kylan said she believes that "a lot of people see influencers and they forget that they're humans.""I think it's definitely harder for her [to rush] than it has been for anybody else in the past," she stated.
