It wasn't always that way, though. Back in December 2010, Cyrus received tons of backlash after the viral footage was leaked, showing her smoking the hallucinogenic drug salvia. It happened inside the Hannah Montana star's L.A. home five days after she turned 18. In the video, the then-teen starlet could be seen giggling while saying that she was "having a little bit of a bad trip." The Fallout  While Cyrus seemed to be having the time of her life that night, the fallout that came after was anything but fun. She lost a Walmart deal because of the incident, and her dad Billy Ray Cyrus also got in on the issue by tweeting an apology and his disapproval of her daughter's behavior. "Sorry guys. I had no idea. Just saw this stuff for the first time myself. I'm so sad. There is much beyond my control right now," he said. Regrets  In an interview with Marie Claire in February 2011, the Wrecking Ball singer addressed the issue, saying, "I'm not perfect ... I made a mistake ... I'm disappointed in myself for disappointing my fans ..." When the reporter said that a lot of college kids were doing the same thing (and even worse), the teen star replied, "But they're not Miley Cyrus. They're not role models. So for me it was a bad decision, because of my fans and because of what I stand for." 11th Anniversary Tweet  Eleven years after the viral incident that nearly wrecked her image, Cyrus is no longer as serious about the whole thing. She recently reminisced about it in a lighthearted way, sending out a tweet on November 29 that showed a screengrab from the video with the caption, "11 years ago. In November, a report from Digital Spy confirmed the news, revealing that the series announced Ubach had been brought aboard for season two. In addition to recently appearing as Suze on the Zendaya-led HBO series, Euphoria, Ubach has been seen in a number of television series, including Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce, See Dad Run, Monsters at Work, Men of a Certain Age, Hung, and Welcome to the Wayne (via IMDb). Many New Faces  As fans may know, just as Euphoria has been a hit for HBO, The Flight Attendant, a mystery thriller led by Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco, has gained popularity on HBO Max. As Digital Spy explained, The Flight Attendant has been a hot topic in recent weeks as new castings and behind the scenes photos have been shared. As Ubach takes on the role of Carol Atkinson alongside Cuoco, who plays the role of Cassie Bowden, she'll be joined by a number of other actors and actresses, including Curb Your Enthusiasm star Cheryl Hines, 30 Rock cast member Margaret Cho, Better Call Saul's Jessie Ennis, and 24 actress Shohreh Aghdashloo. Fans are calling out the award-winning pop singer for "asianfishing," again! When the singer posted pictures from a recent photo shoot on her Instagram page, she had no idea it would blow up negatively. Ariana Grande posted up for her 280 million followers, wearing an oversized olive green blazer and a white neck scarf with her hair tied back. The "7 rings" singer didn't realize her post would meet such backlash that she had to take it down. This isn't the first time people have called Grande out on "fishing" of any kind. What Is Asianfishing? Asianfishing is a variation of Catfishing and Blackfishing, which means pretending to be someone else on social media for gain. This case refers to looking like an Asian to curry favor from the Asian race. Wanna Thompson, a Canadian journalist, coined the term "blackfishing" in 2018 to describe people (often celebrities) of other races (usually Caucasian) who dress like Black people. Some fans are accusing Ariana Grande of altering her facial features with plastic surgery to look like an Asian woman. Others insist she's manipulating the lighting and camera angles of her pictures. There's a minority that insists it's a makeup thing. A Second Warning  This scenario isn't Ariana's first rodeo in the cultural appropriation field. When she dropped her critically acclaimed video "7 rings", which has one billion YouTube views, in 2018, fans noticed Grande spotting a new tattoo written in Japanese. She intended to spell out "7 Rings" but ended up misspelling it as "Shicrin," meaning "barbecue grill." Unfortunately, the pop star made it worse in her attempt to correct the error. She has since updated the tattoo under the supervision of a Japanese expert. Oli London Approves  UK-based non-binary influencer who uses they/them pronouns, Oli London, contributed two cents to this scandal. They welcomed Grande to the "Transracial Club" calling her "so cute and Oriental." London themself is "transracial" and very open about their cosmetic surgery to look like K-Pop group BTS' Jimin. They further gush about becoming "King and Queen of Korea together already." London's comments seemed to fuel the fire of the plastic surgery rumors concerning Grande. Was Ariana “Blackfishing”?  In 2018, when the "Side to Side" singer dropped the visuals for her single "7 rings," fans accused her of blackfishing. Britney Wore The Look In 1999  On December 7, Yahoo! News revealed that Grande took to the stage on Monday night's episode of The Voice wearing a pink tube top with white pants and her hair pulled back into a ponytail. While some might not have recognized the look, others were reminded of a July 1999 concert at the Universal Ampitheater in Universal City, California, where Spears donned a nearly identical look while performing hits during a concert. "We love the 90's Britney nostalgia !!" one person wrote on Instagram. Ariana Showed Off The Look On Instagram  "Coo coo cachooo mrs. robinson see you soon," Grande wrote in a caption of a video of herself wearing the look on Instagram. While Grande's fans and followers flooded her post with complimentary messages, she eventually limited the comments she was allowing on the post, which means that people can no longer share their thoughts on the post. Despite his shooting woes, the former No. 1 pick continues to receive interest from aspiring contenders that need additional star power and rebuilding teams that want to speed up their timeline. However, the Sixers' high asking price is making it harder for them to immediately put an end to the drama surrounding their disgruntled superstar. If they are willing to lower their demand, it wouldn't take long before the Sixers find Simmons a new home this season. Ben Simmons To San Antonio Spurs  One of the rebuilding teams that have expressed interest in acquiring Simmons is the San Antonio Spurs. In a recent article, Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report created a list of trades that will fix struggling contenders in the 2021-22 NBA season. For the Sixers, it's the hypothetical blockbuster deal that would send Simmons to the Spurs before the 2022 NBA trade deadline. In the proposed trade scenario, the Spurs would be offering Dejounte Murray, Devin Vassell, and Doug McDermott to the Sixers in exchange for Simmons. Spurs Build Around Ben Simmons  For the Spurs, the proposed trade deal would give them the centerpiece of the next title-contending team that they will try to build in San Antonio. Simmons may have gone through plenty of ups and downs in the past years but compared to all the young players on the Spurs' roster, he's more capable of becoming the face of the franchise. "As for the Spurs, this would be about conceding that there isn't a franchise talent on the roster and wanting Simmons to fill that void," Buckley wrote. "San Antonio should see enough openings in its long-term blueprint to be intrigued by the idea of building around Simmons. On a roster that hides his shooting shortcomings and emphasizes his athletic strengths, he could shine in ways he never has in Philly. And that's saying something for a player three All-Star selections and one All-NBA honor on his resume." Ben Simmons Boosts Spurs On Both Ends Simmons would be an intriguing addition to the Spurs. Aside from giving them a new face of the franchise, he would also provide them with a new focal point on the offensive end of the floor and an elite defender. Though he still has some major flaws in his offensive game, Simmons is a reliable scorer, rebounder, playmaker, and lockdown defender. Last season, Simmons averaged 14.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 6.9 assists, and 1.6 steals while shooting 55.7 percent from the field. Being traded to the Spurs would also benefit Simmons. Playing under Coach Gregg Popovich, who is regarded as one of the best coaches of all time, could help him return to the right path to becoming a legitimate superstar in the league. Sixers Prepare To Make A Deep Playoff Run Though they won't get an All-Star in return, the proposed blockbuster trade with the Spurs would still help the Sixers become a more competitive team in the Eastern Conference this season. By sending Simmons to San Antonio, the Spurs would be receiving an immediate replacement for him at the starting point guard position in Murray. Murray is currently establishing an impressive performance this season. In 23 games he played, he's averaging 18.8 points, 8.4 rebounds, 8.4 assists, and 2.0 steals while shooting 44.7 percent from the field and 34.4 percent from beyond the arc, per ESPN. Aside from Murray, the Spurs would also get two solid role players in Vassell and McDermott. Vassell would give the Sixers a three-and-D wingman, while McDermott would provide them with a veteran sniper and an off-ball cutter. ]]> |

"When you see creatives who are able to open doors and open opportunities and allow for other creatives to come in, that's a beautiful thing."
