Taylor Swift proved once again that her heart is as big as her talent.
The pop superstar quietly made a $100,000 donation Friday to help cover medical expenses for 2-year-old Lilah, a toddler fighting stage 4 brain cancer. The generous gift came just days after Lilah's mother shared a touching video showing her daughter calling Swift "my friend."
Lilah's mother, Katelynn Smoot, has been documenting her daughter's cancer journey on TikTok under the account Stand with Lilah. The family launched a GoFundMe campaign in March to help with mounting medical costs after Lilah was diagnosed at just 18 months old following a seizure.
On Oct. 8, Katelynn posted a video showing Lilah watching Swift on her iPad and sweetly referring to the singer as her friend. The video even included footage of Katelynn attending Swift's Eras Tour while she was pregnant with Lilah.
"Lilah's name was originally going to be Willow," Katelynn revealed, referencing Swift's 2020 song. "We were set on that name my whole pregnancy but ultimately ended on Lilah."
Taylor Swift's Personal Message Shows Her Compassion
Just over a week after the video was posted, Swift responded in the most generous way possible. On Friday, Oct. 17, she donated $100,000 through the family's GoFundMe page with a heartfelt note.

"Sending the biggest hug to my friend, Lilah!" Swift wrote. "Love, Taylor."
The donation pushed the fundraiser nearly $60,000 past its original $100,000 goal, allowing the family to focus on what matters most—being together during Lilah's treatment.
Katelynn's reaction was immediate and emotional. "Is this real life?" she wrote in a video posted Friday showing herself and Lilah dancing to Swift's new song "The Fate of Ophelia."
"Thank you so so much @taylorswift. I am in shock," she continued. "This means so much to us. I can't express in words how incredibly grateful we are."
Why Does Lilah's Family Need Financial Support?
Lilah's diagnosis involves an extremely rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. According to the family's GoFundMe page, only 58 cases were documented in the United States last year.
While doctors successfully removed a mass from Lilah's brain and she recovered well from surgery, her treatment journey is far from over. She faces three months of chemotherapy, three months of stem cell treatment and proton radiation therapy. The treatment requires four-week hospital stays and travel several hours away to a children's hospital.

The financial burden of such intensive treatment can be overwhelming for any family. Swift's donation means Katelynn and her husband Tyler can now concentrate on supporting their daughter through her treatment without the added stress of fundraising.
"Tyler and I can just focus on our baby girl and being together as a family," Katelynn wrote.
In the thank-you video, young Lilah also expressed her gratitude to Swift—once again calling her "my friend."
"I can't stop crying. You have given us such a beautiful gift," Katelynn added.

Katelynn shared in the past that Lilah finds joy in Swift's music while getting her cancer treatment, writing, "I hope Lilah gets through this diagnosis and gets to one day go to a Taylor Swift concert in person. I know she would love it."
Thanks to Swift's kindness, that dream might one day become reality.
