The one where Jennifer Aniston turned down a casting offer from *Saturday Night Live *before her *Friends *fame.

During a recent appearance on Dax Shepard's *Armchair Expert *podcast, the actress recalled declining an offer to join Lorne Michaels' venerable NBC sketch comedy series in the early 1990s due to what she described as self-righteousness.

"I always thought I was such hot s---," Aniston said. "The story of that is all very confusing." **

She recalled taking a meeting with Michaels in New York when her longtime pal Adam Sandler was already a cast member on the show. "I don't know why I had this self-righteous attitude of 'I don't know if women are treated the way they should be treated on this show,'" Aniston recalled.

Aniston's thought process at the time was that it was "a very male-dominated" show. "I would love to be here if it was in the Gilda Radner day," she recalled of what she said to Michaels. "I mean, this is the brain that semi-remembers things that are back that far. I can't remember, but I remember* Friends *then happened. And that's where I went."**

Aniston has previously discussed rejecting *SNL* because of her preconceived notions of the work environment. In a 2021 interview with *The Hollywood Reporter*, she said, "I was so young and dumb and I went into Lorne's office and I was like, 'I hear women are not respected on this show.' I don't remember exactly what I said next, but it was something like, 'I would prefer if it were like the days of Gilda Radner and Jane Curtin.' I mean, it was such a boys' club back then, but who the f--- was I to be saying this to Lorne Michaels?!" **** Aniston made her debut on* Friends,* also an NBC staple, in the fall of 1994, becoming a household name with the role of Rachel Green. From Marta Kauffman and David Crane, the sitcom followed a group of six close-knit pals navigating life and love in Manhattan. It ran for 10 seasons, concluding in 2004.

Aniston, though, has since hosted *SNL *twice, first in November 1999 and again in January 2004. She's also cameoed a few times, including in a December 2016 episode hosted by Emma Stone, in which she crashed a "Weekend Update" segment that featured a spoof of Rachel Green.

Aniston would go on to win an Emmy for her role on the sitcom in 2002. In 2021 she reunited with former costars Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, and the late Matthew Perry, who died in 2023, for a reunion special on HBO Max.
