The Golden Globes has revealed 25 contenders for its new competitive awards category, with controversial stars like Joe Rogan, Ben Shapiro, Megyn Kelly, and more landing on the shortlist of potential nominees.

After announcing that the 2026 Golden Globes would roll out its new Best Podcast category, the awards body unveiled Thursday its shortlist of podcasts vying for final nomination slots — including a host of right-wing political commentators, Hollywood stars, and journalists.

Among those eligible for nominations in the category are *The Joe Rogan Experience*, *The Megyn Kelly Show*, *The Tucker Carlson Show*,* The Ben Shapiro Show*, and Candace Owens' *Candace* podcast.**

Entertainment figures like Amy Poehler (*Good Hang*), Dax Shepard (*Armchair Expert*), and Alex Cooper (*Call Her Daddy*) are also on the list, as are news programs like *20/20*, *48 Hours*, and *Dateline NBC*.

"This year's inaugural list of eligible programs for the new Best Podcast eligibility list reflects the incredible depth, diversity and creativity thriving in the podcasting world today," said Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes, in a press statement. "From groundbreaking investigative series to deeply personal storytelling and innovative audio formats, this list showcases the power of podcasting to inform, entertain, and inspire audiences around the globe. The Golden Globes is proud to be the first major entertainment award to recognize this medium."

According to a press release, the shortlist was created by the "Globes data partner, Luminate, the entertainment industry's leading authority on audio analytics and insights."

Those on the shortlist are additionally "invited to submit entries via the Golden Globes submissions site" for final consideration, ahead of the Oct. 31 deadline for voting on the six nomination slots.

Hoehne previously said upon announcing the Best Podcast category earlier this year that the group made the move "as the world of entertainment continues to evolve," and that they are "excited to recognize new forms of storytelling" with competitive awards.

She added that "podcasts have emerged as a profound medium for sharing narratives and building communities across global borders and generations," and that the creation of the category widens the Golden Globes' potential to shine a light on other narrative outlets.**

The addition of the Best Podcast category is among a trend of major awards bodies revealing new competitive brackets, including the Oscars, with the Academy recently announcing the creation of new categories for stunts and casting at future events.
