Filmmaker Nancy Meyers posted a heartfelt tribute to actress Diane Keaton on Monday, two days after the legendary Oscar-winning actress reportedly died on Saturday at the age of 79 in California. The beloved actress, who was also a filmmaker and author, was best known for her roles in Annie Hall, The Godfather, Father of the Bride, TheFirst Wives Club and Something's Gotta Give.

"She was fearless, she was like nobody ever, she was born to be a movie star, her laugh could make your day and for me, knowing her and working with her — changed my life," Meyers, a longtime collaborator of Keaton's, wrote in an Instagram post on Monday. "Thank you Di. I'll miss you forever."

Meyers wrote, produced and directed Something's Gotta Give, and also wrote and produced Father of the Bride parts 1 and 2.

She was just one of the latest high-profile Hollywood figures to honor the late actress, who was also a filmmaker and author.

Here are some other notable reactions to Keaton's death.

Francis Ford Coppola

The Godfather director paid tribute to Keaton on Instagram: "I saw her in the film 'Lovers and Other Strangers' and knew I had to have her play Kay in The Godfather, (which she told me she based on my wife Ellie) and her wonderful work in 'Annie Hall' while simultaneously setting a new fashion trend," he wrote. "Everything about Diane was creativity personified."

Woody Allen

Allen wrote a tribute to Keaton in a personal essay for The Free Press. Keaton appeared in several of Allen's films, and while the two had dated for a few years, they remained lifelong friends after that. "Unlike anyone the planet has experienced or is unlikely to ever see again, her face and laugh illuminated any space she entered," Allen wrote.

Keaton publicly supported Allen when allegations resurfaced in 2018 that he sexually assaulted his adopted daughter. "Woody Allen is my friend and I continue to believe him," Keaton wrote on Twitter in 2018.

Lauren Graham

"A few lines from a letter Diane Keaton wrote me years ago, when writing a book was just a dream of mine," the actress shared in a post on Instagram with an accompanying photo of the letter. "Her work as an actor was an inspiration to me. Her encouragement changed my life."

Keaton and Graham starred together in the 2007 film Because I Said So. Keaton played an overbearing mother to three daughters, including Graham's character, Maggie.

Mandy Moore

Moore also played one of Keaton's three daughters in Because I Said So. "They say don't meet your heros but I got to work with one of mine and even call her 'mom' for a few months," Moore wrote on Instagram, along with a photo from the film. "An honor of a lifetime. What an incandescent human Di is and was."

Bette Midler

"She was hilarious, a complete original, and completely without guile, or any of the competitiveness one would have expected from such a star. What you saw was who she was … oh, la, lala!," Middler wrote on Instagram. Middler costarred with Keaton in The First Wives Club.

Goldie Hawn

Hawn, who also costarred with Keaton in The First Wives Club, wrote in a post on Instagram, "How do we say goodbye? What words can come to mind when your heart is broken? You never liked praise, so humble, but now you can't tell me to 'shut up' honey. There was, and will be, no one like you."

Kimberly Williams-Paisley

Williams-Paisley played Keaton's daughter in the Father of the Bride films and wrote on Instagram: "Diane, working with you will always be one of the highlights of my life. You are one of a kind, and it was thrilling to be in your orbit for a time. Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, your talent, and above all, your laughter. 🙏🏻🕊️💔❤️❤️❤️"

Steve Martin

The actor played Keaton's husband in the Father of the Bride films. Martin posted "Loved!" alongside a photo of Keaton on X. He also posted on Instagram an interview exchange Keaton had with Martin Short. Short asked Keaton if he or Martin was sexier. Keaton responded: "I mean, you're both idiots."
