On Oct. 16, the world of rock and roll mourns the loss of a talented artist, Ace Frehley, who was the original lead guitarist of KISS, after his death at the age of 74. But only months before he died, Frehley revealed that he had been invited to the KISS reunion set to happen in November 2025, KISS Kruise: Landlocked in Vegas, but he turned down the offer.
In an interview earlier this year with Guitar World, Frehley opened up about the 2025 Kiss Kruise as fans wondered if he would participate. Clearing the air, Frehley said at the time, "They asked me and I declined."
He didn't hold back as he shared his opinion of the festival in Las Vegas, criticizing the event as he said, "There's no way I'm gonna be involved with that, you know? Their biggest mistake is that they should have done that at Madison Square Garden, not in Las Vegas in a 5000-seater, or whatever it is."

Frehley Cited a Fight With Paul Stanley as One Reason He Said No
After the interviewer noted that Frehley participated in the KISS Kruise in 2018, he opened up about one of the "multiple reasons" he said no to this year's event, recalling an argument he had with fellow founding member Paul Stanley.
According to Frehley, during the End of the Road World Tour that went from 2019 to 2023, about nine months before the tour's final dates at Madison Square Garden in New York City, both Stanley and Gene Simmons said, "We're going to bring everybody out on stage," likely meaning the original lineup of KISS.
Frehley claimed that Stanley and Simmons later changed their minds and decided not to include Frehley and Peter Criss in the shows, with the late guitarist telling the publication, "In fact, Paul went on to say, 'If Ace and Peter got on stage with us, the band could be called Piss.' So, I kind of got into an argument with him."
Frehley Didn't Rule Out a Future Reunion
Despite Frehley's decision not to participate in the 2025 KISS Kruise and any disagreements with members, at the time of the interview, he was still open to the possibility of one day reuniting with KISS.
"I don't hate Paul or Gene, you know? We're rock and roll brothers, and Peter, too. So, anything can happen," he concluded.
The KISS Kruise, which is set to take place in Las Vegas between Nov. 14 and 16, will reportedly include Stanley, Simmons, and Tommy Thayer, the latter of whom played guitar for KISS between 2002 and 2023. As of writing, it's unclear if Frehley's death will impact the event in any way.
