After spending years in the wrestling ring, Dwayne Johnson has ventured back inside it, this time playing UFC pioneer Mark Kerr in *The Smashing Machine*, also starring Emily Blunt. Also in theaters, Daniel Day-Lewis comes out of retirement for *Anemone*, directed by his son Ronan. On streaming, Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera star in the true story of *The Lost Bus*, set during the horrific 2018 Paradise, Calif. wildfire; and Cillian Murphy stars in *Steve*, about the head teacher at a school for troubled young men.

On TV, Charlie Hunnam stars in *Monster: The Ed Gein Story*, about the infamous serial killer. Glen Powell is *Chad Powers*, about a college football quarterback who disguises himself to restart his career. Plus, *Abbott Elementary*, the One Chicago franchise, the *Kelly Clarkson Show*, *Love Is Blind*, and *Saturday Night Live* (with host Bad Bunny and musical guest Doja Cat) all return for their season premieres.
