Can James Franklin finally win a big game?
That's the main storyline as No. 2 Penn State welcomes No. 5 Oregon to Happy Valley on Saturday night. Penn State hasn't beat a Top-10 team at home in nine years, and the Nittany Lions hope a Beaver Stadium White Out, plus an experienced roster, will help get the job done.
While Franklin has won 71.2% of its games at Penn State since 2014, the Nittany Lions are just 1-13 in games against opponents in the top-5 of the poll.
College football Week 5 predictions: Who will win Saturday's big games?
The Ducks are a big jump in competition as Penn State is the only team in this week's Coaches Poll to have not played at least one Power Four opponent.

Penn State owns more ways to win this night.
On offense, all major parts are operating for what still should be one of the nation's top run games going against Oregon's suspect run defense. Plus, quarterback Drew Allar, despite his shaky beginning, is vastly more experienced than Oregon first-year starter Dante Moore. How will Moore handle this environment, one he's never experienced before? The Lions also appear to have the edge defensively under top-shelf coordinator Jim Knowles. They're sprinkled with All-America candidates on each level and boast superior depth and speed in the secondary, which will be tested for the first time.
The Lions, then, are better prepared to win in a low-scoring, "ugly" affair, as well. Especially with that crowd urging them on. — Frank Bodani, York Daily Record
