If Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is out for revenge against the New York Jets in Week 1, he's not showing it. Rodgers downplayed facing his former team to open the 2025 NFL season, implying it was just another game.
When asked if he had extra motivation taking on the Jets on Sunday or whether it was "another regular season game," Rodgers responded with, "Yeah, its week one."
Much like Aaron Glenn yesterday, Aaron Rodgers was pretty buttoned-up talking about his former team today. Q: is there anything more for you opening up against the Jets or is it another regular season game? A: "Yeah, it's week one."

That response can be interpreted multiple ways, but none of them suggest Rodgers is giving the Jets bulletin-board material.
He again refused to take the bait when asked how he'll feel when he walks onto MetLife Field on Sunday.

It wouldn't be a surprise if Rodgers had a chip on his shoulder when he took the field in Week 1. After throwing for 3,897 yards, with 28 touchdowns against 11 interceptions, with the Jets, Rodgers was released by the franchise in March.
He sat on the free-agent market for quite some time before deciding to sign with the Steelers in June.
With Rodgers in tow, the team is hoping to make a deep playoff run. Despite making the playoffs in four out of the last five seasons, the Steelers haven't advanced past the wild-card round since 2017.
The Steelers are hopeful Rodgers will be an upgrade over the last two quarterbacks who took the team to the postseason — Russell Wilson and Kenny Pickett. While Rodgers is more accomplished and has better stats than both players, he's also 41 years old and firmly in the decline phase of his career.
Rodgers is far from the only player who — despite what they say — might have some extra motivation to win the matchup. Jets quarterback Justin Fields was benched by the Steelers last season and opted to sign a two-year, $40 million deal to start for the Jets in the offseason.
When asked about the situation, Fields took the same path as Rodgers, saying, "It's no storyline for me."
