The Denver Broncos reportedly agreed to a four-year, $106 million extension with star pass rusher Nick Bonitto, according to multiple reports. The move comes after Bonitto registered 13.5 sacks and two defensive touchdowns during a Pro Bowl season with the Broncos.
Bonitto, 25, will receive $70 million guaranteed as part of the deal, which can reach up to $120 million based on incentives. The contract makes him the highest-paid non-quarterback in team history, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Broncos had high expectations for Bonitto after selecting him in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. His career started somewhat slowly. Bonitto appeared in 15 games as a rookie, with just one start. He picked up 1.5 sacks in his first season in the NFL.
He started to show flashes of excellence in his second season. Bonitto still wasn't utilized as a full-time starter, making just four starts in 15 games. But he showed excellent pass-rushing ability, picking up eight sacks despite a limited workload.
Everything came together in Year 3. Bonitto started 15 of 17 games and registered 13.5 sacks. That performance earned Bonitto his first-ever Pro Bowl appearance. He also finished as a second-team All-Pro and received down-ballot Defensive Player of the Year votes.
There was some urgency on both sides to get a deal done now. Bonitto was entering the final year of his rookie contract and wasn't eligible for a fifth-year option since he was drafted in the second round. If the Broncos didn't agree to an extension with Bonitto before the offseason, he would hit the free-agent market, where he would draw plenty of interest.
With Bonitto signed, the Broncos guaranteed their defense will have a dangerous pass rusher for years to come. Bonitto played a big role in the team ranking third in points against last season. The Broncos are expected to once again feature a shut-down defense in 2025, and Bonitto is a big reason for that.
Bonitto will look to start another Pro Bowl campaign Sunday, when the Broncos open the 2025 NFL season against the Tennessee Titans in Week 1.
