The trio of flavors are Chocolate Barbecue, Peanut Teriyaki and Caramel Buffalo

PEOPLE editors got an early taste of of the new condiments and shared their reviews

Snickers is launching its first-ever line of sauces — and the brand tapped Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen as the face of the game-day condiments.

The limited-edition trio offer an array of sweet and savory flavors: Chocolate Barbecue, Peanut Teriyaki and Caramel Buffalo.

Caramel Buffalo combines the caramel found in Snickers bars with "Buffalo heat," according to a press release shared with PEOPLE. Peanut Teriyaki includes Snickers peanuts with notes of soy and garlic. And Chocolate Barbecue uses the same chocolate recipe as the classic candy.

PEOPLE editors got an early taste of all three varieties, dipping potato chips into the bold sauces to see how they stack up as a halftime snack.

Testers found the Caramel Buffalo to be "really, really sweet" on first bite, but they then tasted "a little bit of heat."

One staffer thought the sauce had a generally sweet taste, but didn't find the caramel flavor very pronounced. They would've preferred a salted caramel flavor, with stronger caramel notes.

Chocolate Barbecue was popular with testers, who found the barbecue flavor much more powerful than the chocolate.

Peanut Teriyaki was the most familiar flavor to testers, who said it resembled dressings they'd typically have on a noodle dish or salad.

The NFL star said in a statement that his Snickers partnership was a natural fit because "the City of Buffalo knows a thing or two about sauces."

Allen recently talked to PEOPLE about getting back into football season on the set of Pepsi's latest campaign, "Tailgate Crashers."

The NFL season kicked off on Thursday, Sept. 4, when the Philadelphia Eagles took on the Dallas Cowboys.

"Mentally, I'm just trying to enjoy my time off because I know once we go back it's hitting the ground running," the 29-year-old said.

Allen, whose 2024 season wrapped with an NFL MVP Award, also opened up about his game-day eating rituals.

"When fueling up before a game, I don't eat anything," Allen admitted. "When it's a day game, I typically don't eat before. If it's a late game, I'll throw in a little buttered pasta."

Fans can visit Snickers.com/Sauces starting Sunday, Sept. 7, for a chance to score the new sauces with the purchase of a pack of Josh Allen Snickers Minis. Weekly sauce drops will happen during halftime of the 1 p.m. ET NFL Sunday games throughout September.
