While fans of the James Bond franchise eagerly await any news about the next big screen version of the character after Daniel Craig finished his run with 2021's No Time to Die, an unexpected new form of the character has officially debuted, and he's played by actor Patrick Gibson.
On Wednesday, Sept. 3, the video game developer IO Interactive revealed some gameplay for the long-awaited game, 007 First Light, set to come out next spring. During the preview, the cast of the game was also confirmed, with Gibson revealed to be the man behind the title character, not just voicing Bond but being the physical model for the character as well.

The 007 First Light Game Tells The Story of a Young Bond Before He Becomes Agent 007
IO Interactive defines the game as a "new standalone, re-imagined James Bond origin story," with the story focusing on "the events that led an audacious young hero to become the best MI6 agent."
The story is expected to be an original take on the beloved franchise, rather than adapting any pre-existing Bond story. The current release date is March 27, 2026, with the game set to debut on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.

Along with Gibson, the game features a very talented cast, with Priyanga Burford playing M, Lennie James as John Greenway, Kiera Lester as Miss Moneypenny, Alastair Mackenzie as Q, and Noemie Nakai as Miss Roth. All of the characters are modeled after the actors who play them, bringing a freshness to the entire cast of familiar characters.
Who is Patrick Gibson?
At 30 years old, Gibson is a very accomplished actor with a long resume of exciting roles. Most recently, Gibson gave a stirring performance as a young version of the TV character Dexter Morgan—originated by Michael C. Hall—in the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin.

He also starred in the fan-favorite Netflix shows Shadow and Bone and The OA, which were both canceled by the streamer after two seasons to fans' dismay. Other projects he worked on were Tolkien, The Spanish Princess, and the crime drama series Before We Die.
Despite being an Irish actor, Gibson has done a lot of roles that require an American accent. In 007 First Light, he had to flex his skills again in order to put on the perfect Bond English accent.
