Michigan authorities released footage showing the chilling stabbing spree that left 11 people injured at a Traverse City Walmart last month.

On July 26 at about 4:43 p.m. local time, a man wielding a standard folding-style knife approached and attacked multiple people near the store's checkout counter.

Disturbing footage released by the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office shows the horrifying moment the suspect, wearing a large green bag, spiraled across the store, attacking others. Frantic customers are seen watching the chaotic scene unfold and fleeing, with some tumbling to the ground after seemingly being jabbed.

Security video also captured the moment bystanders intervened to help subdue the attacker ahead of police arrival. One customer is seen slamming a grocery cart toward him outside the store. On July 27, Grand Traverse County Sheriff Michael Shea credited bystanders for being "absolutely instrumental" in preventing further injuries.

A total of 11 people were hurt in the attack, though every victim survived, the sheriff's office confirmed.

"At first, it was disbelief. I thought maybe it was like a terror attack," Steven Carter, who delivers customer orders from Walmart, told The . "And then it was fear, disbelief, shock. And that was, it was just amazing. And it all happened fast. Like he was totally subdued on the ground by the time police arrived."

Suspect charged with terrorism, assault with intent to murder

Officials identified the suspect as 42-year-old Bradford James Gille, who was later charged with one count of terrorism and 11 counts of assault with intent to murder.

While authorities have not determined a specific motive, Shea said on July 27 that Gile has a history of "assaultive type allegations as well as controlled substance."

County Prosecutor Noelle Moeggenberg said the terrorism charge was added because the attack was a "very random act of violence" intended to "put fear in the entire community, to change how we operate on a daily basis."

Gile, who is being held on a $1 million bond, has been referred for a psychiatric evaluation meant to determine his competence to stand trial.
