<p>ESPARTO, Calif. (AP) — Rescue crews were searching on Thursday for seven people still missing days after an explosion at a fireworks warehouse in Northern California shook a tiny farming community and forced the cancellation of nearby July Fourth celebrations.</p>

<p>Family members gathered near a sheriff's checkpoint about a mile from the blast site in rural Esparto, hoping for news about their loved ones. Syanna Ruiz, who is pregnant, said her boyfriend, 18-year-old Jesus Ramos, was working his first day at the warehouse when the explosion occurred.</p>

<p>"I'm just praying to God that some way, somehow, they're OK," Ruiz told the Sacramento Bee on Wednesday.</p>

<p>People were urged to avoid the area after the Tuesday night blast, which set off a barrage of fireworks and caused a massive blaze that led to other spot fires and collapsed the building in Yolo County about 40 miles (64 kilometers) northwest of Sacramento.</p>

<p>Two people were injured and received medical care, Esparto Fire Chief Curtis Lawrence said at a news conference Wednesday. Lawrence provided no further information other than to say the two were "OK," and it wasn't known if the victims worked at the facility.</p>

<p>Emergency crews and investigators were working with the property's owner and monitoring the area using drones to find the missing individuals, said the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, or Cal Fire. It was not immediately clear if those missing worked at the warehouse or lived nearby.</p>

<p>The cause of the explosion was under investigation.</p>

<p>In a statement, the management of the business, Devastating Pyrotechnics, thanked law enforcement and emergency personnel for their swift response.</p>

<p>"Our hearts and thoughts are with those we lost, their families, and everyone impacted in our community," the statement said. "Our focus will remain on those directly impacted by this tragedy, and we will cooperate fully with the proper authorities in their investigation."</p>

<p>The property is owned by "an active pyrotechnic license holder," Cal Fire said in a statement Wednesday. "This type of incident is very rare, as facilities like this are required to not only follow our stringent California pyrotechnic requirements, but also federal explosive storage requirements."</p>

<p>The fire was held at nearly 80 acres (33 hectares) after scorching surrounding agricultural fields, officials said.</p>

<p>Nisa Gutierrez told the Sacramento CBS affiliate KOVR-TV that the blast was so strong it blew open the doors of her home, damaging the door frames. She and her daughter were in their yard and were nearly knocked over as their pony and goats scattered. "We hear like a big boom, and feel the wave," Gutierrez said. "I thought it was a bomb."</p>

<p>The scene remained hazardous, with explosions continuing into the evening on Wednesday, Cal Fire said in a statement. Crews including a team with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were working to enable safe access to the site "to conduct recovery operations and bolster investigative efforts for the explosion investigation," the statement said.</p>

<p>Gov. Gavin Newsom's office said it was tracking what happened and that state ground and air resources were deployed.</p>

<p>"The State Fire Marshal has sent an arson and bomb investigation team, and stands ready to provide additional support as needed," the governor's office said on the social site X.</p>

<p>Officials in nearby Sutter and Yuba counties announced Wednesday that they were exploring alternatives for Fourth of July celebrations after their fireworks were destroyed in the blast.</p>

<p>"Devastating Pyrotechnics has been a trusted partner and a cherished part of our regional fireworks celebrations," the Yuba-Sutter officials said in a statement. "This tragic incident is a sobering reminder of the many hands behind the scenes who help create joy for others."</p>

<p>LONDON (AP) — Novak Djokovic added another record to his name by reaching Wimbledon's third round for a 19th time with a 6-3, 6-2, 6-0 win over Dan Evans on Centre Court on Wednesday.</p>

<p>It was Djokovic's 99th match win at Wimbledon overall, and the 19 third-round appearances put him one ahead of Roger Federer for most by any man in the Open Era.</p>

<p>It's hardly the most prestigious record for Djokovic, whose 24 Grand Slam titles — including seven at Wimbledon — are the most by a male player. But he could at least use it to poke fun at his new, and much younger, main rivals.</p>

<p>"Nineteen times, that's a great stat," said the 38-year-old Djokovic. "That's probably almost as much as Sinner and Alcaraz have years in their lives."</p>

<p>Well, not quite.</p>

<p>Carlos Alcaraz, who beat Djokovic in the last two Wimbledon finals, is 22, while No. 1-ranked Jannik Sinner — who was playing later on Centre Court — is 23.</p>

<p>The growing rivalry between Sinner and Alcaraz — especially in the wake of their five-set final at the French Open last month — has helped tennis move on from the era of the Big Three, where Djokovic is the last man standing after Federer and Rafael Nadal retired.</p>

<p>But Djokovic is too focused on proving he can still win another Slam to sit back and reflect on everything he has accomplished at Wimbledon.</p>

<p>"I don't pause to reflect, to be honest. I don't have time," Djokovic said in an on-court interview. "I would like to. But I think that's going to come probably when I set the racket aside and then sip margarita on the beach with Federer and Nadal and just reflect on our rivalry and everything."</p>

<p>Against Evans, Djokovic failed to convert his first nine break points in the first set. But once he got the breakthrough for a 5-3 lead — raising both arms in the air as if to say "finally" — he went five-for-six on break points the rest of the way.</p>

<p>"You have these kinds of days where everything goes your way," said Djokovic, who didn't face a break point of his own until the final game. "Everything flows."</p>

<p>What else happened Thursday at Wimbledon?</p>

<p>No. 7-seeded Mirra Andreeva and No. 10 Emma Navarro both advanced in straight sets. The 18-year-old Andreeva earned a 6-1, 7-6 (4) win over Lucia Bronzetti of Italy, and Navarro cruised past Veronika Kudermetova 6-1, 6-2. No. 11 Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon champion, beat Maria Sakkari 6-3, 6-1.</p>

<p>In the men's draw, No. 11 Alex de Minaur ousted 115th-ranked Arthur Cazaux 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, 6-0 and 19th-seeded Gregor Dimitrov outlasted Corentin Moutet 7-5, 4-6, 7-5, 7-5.</p>

<p>Who plays Friday at the All England Club?</p>

<p>Kraft Heinz Foods Company is recalling certain ready-to-eat turkey bacon products that may be contaminated with listeria, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Wednesday.</p>

<p>The affected items were distributed to retail stores across the U.S., with some exported to the British Virgin Islands and Hong Kong, according to the FSIS recall announcement.</p>

<p>"The problem was discovered after the establishment's laboratory testing indicated the product may be contaminated with [Listeria monocytogenes]," the FSIS stated.</p>

<p>According to the agency, as of time of publication, there have been "no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products."</p>

<p>"Anyone concerned about an illness should contact a healthcare provider," the FSIS said.</p>

<p>ABC News has reached out Kraft Heinz Foods Company for comment on the recall.</p>

<p>12-ounce vacuum-packed packages of "Oscar Mayer Turkey BACON ORIGINAL" bearing the UPC "071871548601" printed on the packaging under the barcode; "use by" dates ranging from July 18, 2025, to Aug. 2, 2025; and lot code "RS40."</p>

<p>36-ounce packages containing three 12-ounce vacuum-packed packages of "Oscar Mayer Turkey BACON ORIGINAL" bearing the UPC "071871548748" printed on the packaging under the barcode; "use by" dates ranging from July 23, 2025, to Sept. 4, 2025; and lot codes "RS19," "RS40" or "RS42."</p>

<p>48-ounce packages containing four 12-ounce vacuum-packed packages of "Oscar Mayer Turkey BACON ORIGINAL" bearing the UPC "071871548793" printed on the packaging under the barcode; "use by" dates ranging from July 18, 2025, to Sept. 4, 2025; and lot codes "RS19," "RS40" or "RS42."</p>

<p>The recalled products bear the USDA mark of inspection on the front of the label. The items were produced from April 24, 2025, through June 11, 2025.</p>

<p>The FSIS said it is concerned the recalled products could be in consumers' refrigerators or freezers.</p>

<p>"Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them," the agency stated. "These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase."</p>

<p>What to know about listeria and its symptoms</p>

<p>Listeria is a type of bacteria that can cause an infection called listeriosis, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The condition is most dangerous for pregnant people, newborns, people with weakened immune systems and adults 65 or older, the agency states. For people who are pregnant, listeriosis can cause pregnancy loss or premature birth.</p>

<p>Symptoms of intestinal listeriosis are typically mild and include diarrhea and vomiting, according to the CDC. A more severe type of listeriosis, invasive listeriosis, occurs when listeria spreads beyond the intestines. Symptoms of invasive listeriosis -- which can include a fever and flu-like symptoms including fatigue and muscle aches as well as headaches, confusion and loss of balance -- typically start within two weeks after eating contaminated food.</p>

<p>The CDC estimates that approximately 1,600 people get listeriosis in the U.S. each year, and about 260 die from it.</p>

<p>Hurricanes and tropical storms can sometimes be a marathon to track, while others are so short-lived you might blink and miss that it ever existed.</p>

<p>For example, the first Atlantic storm of 2025, Andrea, preliminarily lasted just 12 hours. That's in stark contrast to some storms in history which have overstayed their welcome for three or more weeks.</p>

<p>Here's a look at the top three longest-lasting Atlantic storms, based on a list provided by Dr. Phil Klotzbach, a tropical scientist at Colorado State University. This only includes cumulative time spent as either a hurricane or tropical storm and not as tropical depression since the latter data is less reliable back through history, Klotzbach said.</p>

<p>3. 2012 Hurricane Nadine</p>

<p>Big Picture: Nearly 3 weeks, or 20.75 days, is how long Nadine loitered in the eastern Atlantic as a named storm in 2012. Its path resembled something a toddler might sketch on a sheet of paper, first tracking northwest after it formed, then turning east before doing all sorts of looping patterns near the Azores, a group of islands west of Portugal.</p>

<p>Deeper Dive: The National Hurricane Center issued 88 forecast advisories on the storm, and in the final one humorously cited in a headline the Grateful Dead's, "What a long, strange trip it's been". Nadine hit hurricane strength two separate times at a record 13 days apart, the NHC report said. Fortunately, Nadine's bobbing and weaving path caused few impacts other than producing 50-mph wind gusts in a few spots across the Azores.</p>

<p>2. 1971 Hurricane Ginger</p>

<p>Big Picture: In 1971, Ginger stuck around for 21.25 days at tropical storm or hurricane intensity. If you include its time spent as a tropical depression that figure increases to 27.25 days. After forming well northeast of the Bahamas, it tracked toward the central Atlantic nearly 1,000 miles east of Bermuda, which is usually a sign that a storm will be no threat to the U.S. Ginger had other plans and doubled back, heading in a westward direction that completed a looping path in the central Atlantic. From there, it made landfall in North Carolina as Category 1.</p>

<p>Deeper Dive: 20 of Ginger's days were spent at hurricane intensity, which is the most of any Atlantic storm on record. Interestingly, Ginger's origin was from a non-tropical low-pressure system, illustrating one of five ways tropical cyclones can form. It also had an unusually large eye up to 80-miles-wide during part of its journey. While Ginger did brush Bermuda, its biggest impacts were felt in eastern North Carolina and southeast Virginia. A wind gust up to 92 mph was clocked at Atlantic Beach as it made landfall. Power outages, destroyed mobile homes, storm surge, and rainfall flooding were among the impacts seen in North Carolina.</p>

<p>1. 1899 "San Ciriaco Hurricane"</p>

<p>Big Picture: A whopping 28 days, or 4 weeks, is how long the 1899 "San Ciriaco Hurricane" was a tropical storm or hurricane from early August to early September 1899. It tracked from southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands to Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, eastern North Carolina and the Azores in an elongated, C-shaped loop.</p>

<p>Deeper Dive: For context, the average number of days a storm lasts in the Atlantic Basin is five, according to Klotzbach, so this system more than quintupled that statistic. It is considered one of the deadliest Atlantic storms on record, with a death toll of more than 3,400. Most of those were in Puerto Rico where it made landfall as a Category 4. It ravaged the Bahamas as Category 3 and also made landfall at that intensity in Hatteras, North Carolina, before turning out to sea.</p>

<p>World Record Was Recently Set</p>

<p>Big Picture: In early 2023, Tropical Cyclone Freddy lasted for 36 days, making it the longest-lived storm on record anywhere in the world. Freddy tracked nearly 8,000 miles across the Indian Ocean from north of Australia to Africa, making landfalls in Madagascar and Mozambique.</p>

<p>Deeper Dive: Freddy easily toppled the previous world record of 30 days set by Hurricane/Typhoon John in central and eastern Pacific in 1994. It hit Category 5 strength twice while located over the open Indian Ocean. Freddy produced severe impacts across parts of Madagascar, Mozambique and Malawi.</p>

<p>Why It's So Hard For Storm's To Stick Around For Weeks? -</p>

<p>First, you need a tropical cyclone to move over an expansive swath of the ocean. So ideally they need to start their journey as far east as possible in the Atlantic, allowing for the most amount of warm ocean water to draw energy from along its future path.</p>

<p>Once the storm gains northward latitude, it needs to be missed by one or more southward dips in the jet stream. By avoiding those it keeps the storm from facing increasingly hostile upper-level winds that might lead to its tropical demise. Typically, a storm may miss one of those southward dips in the jet stream. For a storm to miss two or more dips in the jet stream, however, is more unusual.</p>

<p>Preferably, it stalls at least once, but not for so long that cooled ocean water from rain and upwelling causes the storm to weaken significantly. This can happen just after a jet disturbance misses picking up the storm, as mentioned above.</p>

<p>TULKAREM REFUGEE CAMP, West Bank (AP) — Hundreds of Palestinians have fled a section of the Tulkarem refugee camp in the occupied West Bank after receiving Israeli demolition orders — joining tens of thousands of people to be displaced by an open-ended military offensive in the area.</p>

<p>The residents loaded all of their earthly possessions -- mattresses, blankets, washing machines -- onto vehicles on Wednesday before taking one last glimpse of their homes and speeding off.</p>

<p>The new demolition order affects some 104 buildings, and at least 400 families now face homelessness, said Faisal Salama, a local official in the camp.</p>

<p>Late Wednesday, Israel's Supreme Court temporarily froze the planned demolitions in response to a request from Adalah, a Palestinian human rights group in Israel.</p>

<p>The order gave the army until Sept. 2 to respond. But as of late Thursday, none of the displaced residents had returned. The Israeli army declined comment on the order.</p>

<p>The exodus on Wednesday is the latest triggered by Israeli operations to stamp out militancy in West Bank refugee camps in the wake of Hamas' Oct. 7, 2023 attack that ignited the war in Gaza. Tens of thousands of Palestinians have been driven out of their homes this year in the largest displacement in the West Bank since Israel captured the territory in the 1967 Mideast war.</p>

<p>The Israeli military justified the planned demolitions in Tulkarem, saying it operates in areas "with high level of terrorism." It said the decision to demolish buildings in the camp were made based on "operational necessity" to allow Israeli forces to operate freely and move in the area, and was made after other options were considered.</p>

<p>Israel's raids have emptied out and largely destroyed several urban refugee camps in the northern West Bank, such as Tulkarem and nearby Nur Shams. Israel says troops will stay in some camps for a year.</p>

<p>Salama said with the latest orders, a total of 1,000 families have been displaced by recent demolition orders.</p>

<p>"Where will these families live? Where will they go? Their fate is uncertain and unknown," he said.</p>

<p>Subhi Hamdan, 65, said he was given just one day to leave. He is worried he won't be able to afford an apartment despite having registered for assistance with the cash-strapped Palestinian Authority.</p>

<p>"Until now we haven't seen anything at all," he said. "Where can anyone go?"</p>

<p>WASHINGTON (Reuters) -President Donald Trump travels to Iowa on Thursday to kick off celebrations marking America's 250th anniversary next year and to tout recent trade and legislative actions to heartland voters who helped propel his return to the White House.</p>

<p>Trump will deliver a campaign-style speech at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, a familiar stop for presidential candidates in the early primary state. Trump won Iowa's 2024 Republican caucuses by a historically large margin and carried the state by 13 percentage points in the general election.</p>

<p>His latest visit comes ahead of a Friday deadline he set for Congress to pass his sweeping tax and spending legislation, a cornerstone of his second-term domestic agenda that touches everything from immigration to energy policy.</p>

<p>In remarks mixing patriotism and policy, Trump will aim to reassure Iowa's voters that his administration is defending their interests and delivering tangible results, according to a person with knowledge of the speech.</p>

<p>Trump's trade policies have whipsawed agricultural communities in Iowa, creating economic uncertainty and testing loyalties. Iowa farmers have been hit hard, especially with China's retaliatory tariffs slashing soybean exports and prices.</p>

<p>In a Truth Social post on Tuesday announcing his trip, Trump called Iowa "one of my favorite places in the world."</p>

<p>"I'll also tell you some of the GREAT things I've already done on Trade, especially as it relates to Farmers. You are going to be very happy with what I say," Trump said.</p>

<p>At recent Republican town halls in Iowa, tensions flared as farmers and constituents pressed congressional leaders, including Republican Senator Chuck Grassley, to push back against Trump's retaliatory tariffs.</p>

<p>Some Republicans also worry that deep cuts to the Medicaid health program in their sweeping tax bill will hurt the party's prospects in the 2026 midterm elections.</p>

<p>Trump has made several memorable trips to the Iowa State Fairgrounds. In 2015, the reality TV star and presidential candidate gave children rides on his personal helicopter as he aimed to overshadow Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.</p>

<p>In 2023, Trump's private jet buzzed low over the crowds in another flashy power move, stealing the spotlight from primary rival Ron DeSantis as he campaigned on the ground below.</p>
