| Ex-Alabama Quarterback Arrested For Assault On Wife Posted: 16 Jan 2022 05:18 PM PST A former Alabama quarterback has been arrested after allegedly attempting to strike his wife with his car, AL.com reports. The 49-year-old football player and show host was taken to a jail in Nashville after being arrested in Tennessee. It's alleged that Barker attempted to hit his wife, known singer Sara Evans, with a vehicle. DDDDetails Of The Arrest Barker, full name Harry Jerome Barker entered Davidson County Jail in the early hours of Saturday morning at 4:10 a.m. Police records state that Barker was charged with the felony of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He left jail the same day prior to 7:30 p.m. upon a $10,000 bond payment. Barker was held in custody for a minimum of 12 hours, as domestic charges necessitate a 12-hour "cooling off" period. The Assault According to reports by The Tennessean, and AL.com Barker was said to have attempted to run over two individuals who had left a party early Saturday morning. One of the individuals is believed to be Barker's wife. The two victims were driving together in a vehicle, and were pulling into a property's driveway at the time of attack. It was then that Barker allegedly drove his own vehicle into them "at a high rate of speed attempting to hit them, but missed." Barker fled the scene, but the victims contacted police, who later arrested Barker when he returned to the scene. Sara Evans Other reports quoting the same affidavit have stated that Barker and one of the victims—his wife Sara Evans—are still married but are currently separated and do not live together. The same document states that it is likely that Barker did attempt to intentionally attack the victims with his vehicle. Sara Evans is a country singer and has been married to Barker since 2008. She has released many albums under her own name, with her earliest work beginning in 1997. Evans has also released music with her three children under the name "The Barker Family Band". Barker's Past Success This is not the first time that the former quarterback for Alabama has been in the spotlight. During his tenure with the Crimson Tide, he lead the team to a 1992 national championship. In more recent years, he is known as the host to the sports coverage program, "The Jay Barker Show" in Alabama. According to the Tennesseean, during his time with his old Alabama team, he took part in a victory over then-number 1 Miami during the 1993 Sugar Bowl. He is currently the school's highest-scoring quarterback and also won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award in 1994 as a senior. ]]> |
| Texas Hostage Standoff: Suspect Dead, Hostages Rescued Posted: 16 Jan 2022 04:51 PM PST Latest reports of a hostage situation at a synagogue in Colleyville, Texas state that a suspect has been killed while hostages were released safely. According to the New York Post, after nearly half a day a Texan rabbi and congregation were held within Beth Israel Synagogue, before eventually being rescued by police. The hostage-taker's main demand was that Aafia Siddiqui, a convicted terrorist be released from her prison in Texas. The Ending of the Hostage Situation It was only minutes after an FBI hostage team entered the building that Texas Gov. tweeted out the confirmation: "Prayers answered," once hostages had been released. Currently, it is not yet known how the suspect--who as of writing remains unidentified--was killed in the incident. During the hostage situation, the suspect claimed to have a bomb and demanded that Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani neuroscientist, be released from prison following her attempts to kill US authorities in Afghanistan. Reports state that the suspect also claimed to be Siddiqui's brother. Those nearby to the scene reported hearing flashbangs and the sound of gunfire as the SWAT team entered the religious building Details Within The Synagogue The suspect, a young male, was said to have been captured on the place of worship's livestream, reportedly saying that he was armed with explosives and heard ranting about religion. According to the Jerusalem Post, the livestream had amassed around 8,000 viewers before the broadcast was abruptly ended. During the livestream the suspect was heard declaring, "If anyone tries to enter this building, I'm tellin you … everyone will die." The suspect also repeatedly said, "I'm going to die. Don't cry about me." It was then that the suspect made the synagogue's rabbi, Charlie Cytron-Walker make a telephone call to Manhattan's Central Synagogue, according to The Post. The suspect requested to speak with Manhattan's Rabbi Angela Buchdahl, reportedly demanding that she assist in his goal to have Siddiqui released from prison. It was then that the New York-based rabbi phoned 911 to inform authorities of the situation. Indentity Of The Suspect Much is currently unknown to the public in regards to the now-deceased suspect's identity. Coverage has indicated that during the hostage-taking the suspect claimed to be the brother of Aafia Siddiqui, who was the subject of his main demands. Aafia Siddiqui is currently held in the Federal Medical Center, Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas. Officials have continued to remain silent on the details of the rescue mission as well, and have refused to declare whether the suspect was in possession of explosives. However, a spokesperson stated that the situation may have come to a much grimmer conclusion if not for "a long day of work by nearly 200 officers from across the region." Police were in "constant communication" with the suspect, Colleyville Police Chief Micheal Miller said, and were encouraged when he released a male hostage from the synagogue in good condition around 5 p.m. Reasons Behind The Hostage-Taking The only currently-known reason behind the hostage-taking was surrounding the release of a Pakistani neuroscientist named Aafia Siddiqui, who is convicted of multiple felonies and is currently serving an 86-year sentence. ]]> |

The Flight Attendant star said felt an "Earth-shattering deep, gut-wrenching pain," she thought impossible as she penned a farewell tribute to the mixed breed pit bull. One year later, she remembers the dog with another Instagram post, only this time, the pain isn't as raw. A Year Ago "Norman, you were my entire world for 14 years. Thank you for smiling at me as you left this world, confirming for me once again, our language was ours alone. You will always have my heart," she wrote. Speaking to The L.A. Times in 2017, Cuoco said, "I wanted this dog to be in my life." Then she also spoke about Norman saving her "more ways than [she] can explain." Immortalizing Her Pet Before his death, Kaley collaborated with Sock Problems in 2018 to design a dog Euthanizing sock pair to help pets transition painlessly. She donated the sales from the socks to dog rescue organization Paw Works. Seeing how passionate she was, her wedding guests donated to the rescue pound as gifts when she married her now ex-husband Karl Cook. Kaley named her production company Yes, Norman Productions to immortalize the dead pit bull. Although she had many pets at the time of Norman's death, the Big Bang Theory actress always had a closer relationship with the pit bull. Kim Kardashian enlisted the help of snowboarding champion Chloe Kim, and Olympic bobsledder Aja Evans, amongst other sports stars, to be the faces of the new loungewear. This would be the second time Kim's brand would collaborate with Team USA. Second Time Over Skims first partnered with Team USA during the Tokyo Summer Olympics and recorded a huge success selling out within 24 hours. According to the USA Olympic and Paralympic Properties' Senior VP Peter Zeytoonjian, "Team USA's first collection with Skims was a huge hit with both athletes and fans, and we're thrilled to bring another collection to life as we head to the Winter Games." He continued saying, "This new collection features warmer materials, bringing extra comfort to TEAM USA's athletes as they compete in cooler temperatures." In his closing speech, Peter expressed an interest in collaborating with Skims a third time.
