WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump urged lawmakers who canceled events in the wake of Charlie Kirk's assassination to "go forward" but monitor security risks closely.
In a Sept. 12 interview on "Fox and Friends," he pointed to the attempt on his life last year in Butler, Pennsylvania, and said politics is a "dangerous business."
"You just have to go forward," he said.

Members of Congress on the left and right, including Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-New York, and Nancy Mace, R-South Carolina, have shifted their schedules or changed their approach to security in the days since Kirk's killing. According to the Daily Beast, Mace told reporters she would "not be doing any outdoor events anytime soon."
"I'm worried about copycats," she said.
