Grab your nail bats and walkie-talkies, because the war against Vecna is officially underway in new footage from the upcoming fifth season of* Stranger Things*. **** Netflix offered fans yet another glimpse at the highly anticipated final season ahead of its November start date on Wednesday, showcasing several behind-the-scenes clips that see its cast reunite as they prepare to duke it out against the villainous Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) to save Hawkins and the world as they know it. **** "This is the biggest season we've ever had in terms of action, in terms of visual effects, in terms of story," co-creator Ross Duffer says. "Ultimately, what people want is to see these characters together one last time."

After being largely separated into different groups across its fourth season, the new footage features its original gang — Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), and Will (Noah Schnapp) — finally getting back together.****Brown describes season 5 as "more of an adventure" and a "mission" than its predecessors. "Everyone is really put into the thick of it," she says. "No one is sitting back on a walkie-talkie, everyone is full throttle, going for it."****And it appears each member of its cast will play their own part in their war efforts, with footage showing Eleven and Hopper (David Harbour) visiting the Upside Down while Lucas helps to hide a still-hospitalized Max (Sadie Sink) from a looming demogorgon. Meanwhile, Mike and Joyce (Winona Ryder) protect a group of children against an unknown entity as Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) load up shotguns for the fight ahead.

"This is a season about fighting to the bone, even if when you don't know that you're gonna win," Maya Hawke, who plays Robin, says. Wolfhard adds, "It's the highest stakes that the show has ever been." ****Additional clips show Vecna walking through the Upside Down, a tender moment between Hopper and Joyce, Steve (Joe Keery) driving through a disaster, a shot of fan-favorite Eddie (Joseph Quinn) and a nod to his Hellfire Club, and an ominous black shadow swirling around the radio tower of Hawkins' local station, WSQK. ****"We've come full circle," McLaughlin says. "The fans will be truly satisfied with the ending."
A synopsis for the upcoming season — which will be split into three parts — confirms that it is set one year after the events of season 4. **** "Our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna," it reads. "But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding."**
However, with the anniversary of Will's disappearance soon approaching, a "heavy, familiar dread" begins to permeate the town once again. "The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they've faced before," it concludes. "To end this nightmare, they'll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time."****Season 5 will be released in separate installments, with the first volume dropping on Nov. 26 at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET. The second volume follows Christmas Day at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET, with the finale dropping on its own on New Year's Eve at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET.****Watch the featurette above.
