Speaking to PEOPLE at the Los Angeles premiere of his new movie, London Calling, Josh Duhamel opened up about his youngest Shepherd's personality as he nears his second birthday
The actor reveals that his son is "already" experiencing temper tantrums, saying that he "love[s]" the phase and every other one of being a dad
Duhamel shares Shepherd with his wife Audra Mari; he's also a dad to 12-year-old Axl, whom he shares with ex-wife Fergie
Josh Duhamel is loving dad life, even when temper tantrums are involved!
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE on Monday, Sept. 15 at the Los Angeles premiere of his movie London Calling, the actor, 52, opened up about being a father of two.
Duhamel — who shares son Shepherd Lawrence, 20 months, with wife Audra Mari, 31, and son Axl Jack, 12, with ex-wife Fergie — is gearing up to celebrate his youngest son's second birthday in January. However, he says that Shepherd is already having meltdowns that some people associate wiht the "terrible twos."
"Oh, he's already there. Yeah, he is. He is fully there. But I love it. I love every step along the way," the star says of Shepherd's meltdowns.
He adds, "He's all about cars. He watches his older brother play soccer and basketball, so watching them sort of obsess about those two things. But that's just a stage. They go through different stages."

Meanwhile, Duhamel tells PEOPLE that his eldest son Axl isn't thinking about following his footsteps into the entertainment industry anytime soon.
"Nah, [he's] all about soccer right now," he says.
The father of two's comments come after he spoke to PEOPLE in August about loving fatherhood.
"There's always something new," he said at the time. "I just love being a dad. I love every single milestone."
He also gave more insight into Shepherd's love for cars, revealing that his father-in-law has the same interest.

"My wife's father is a big car guy and a collector of cars, and I think that Shepherd is very much like his grandfather," he said. "He just loves cars ... and all he wants to do is get up in the seat and just pretend like he's driving. Even if it's a little tricycle, he wants to get in there and pretend."
However, Axl is "more about soccer and basketball stats."
"But that's the beauty of genetics. They all come out a little bit different," the proud father added.
Duhamel also went on to reveal his hopes for a daughter one day.
Speaking of his wife, Duhamel said, "She's a great role model, and hopefully we have another one. Hopefully a girl, maybe another boy. We'll see."
Duhamel and Mari tied the knot in September 2022, before welcoming Shepherd on Jan. 11, 2024.

This came after they announced they were expecting their first baby together in September 2023.
Celebrating their third anniversary last week, Mari wrote on Instagram, "happy 3rd year to you @joshduhamel I love you more every day.. 🤍," alongside a photo of the pair from their wedding day.
She then marked Shepherd's reaching 20 months on Thursday, Sept. 11 by sharing a black-and-white photo of the toddler.
"Holding this baby extra close today… 20 months of you, my sweet Shepherd," she wrote. "You are the light that makes even the hardest days brighter. Thank you for bringing so much joy and love into this world that can often feel so heavy and uncertain."
