It looks like King Charles and Prince Harry could be taking the first steps to reconciliation. The estranged royals' senior aides were photographed by the Daily Mail having a "secret peace summit" last week, which sources say was the first step in a "rapprochement process." Harry's chief communications officer, Meredith Maines, and his head of PR, Liam Maguire, flew in from Los Angeles for the meeting—where they met with the King's communications secretary, Tobyn Andreae.

Talks went down at a private member's club in London called Royal Over-Seas League, which is just a few minutes walk from King Charles' residence at Clarence House. Per the insider "There's a long road ahead, but a channel of communication is now open for the first time in years." As for what was discussed, "there was no formal agenda, just casual drinks. There were things both sides wanted to talk about."

The trio were photographed talking outside (it's unclear who initiated the meeting), but then moved inside after about ten minutes. As for what's next, the source says this get together is merely the "first step towards reconciliation between Harry and his father, but at least it is a step in the right direction. Everyone just wants to move on and move forward now. It was finally the right time for the two sides to talk."

Per the Daily Mail, Harry's team reported back to the Duke of Sussex upon returning to the United States, so...guess we'll see what happens next?

Elizabeth Taylor enjoyed reveling in luxury during her many travels around the world

The beloved star's final trip with executive assistant Tim Mendelson was in spring 2010, less than a year before her death

Mendelson tells PEOPLE how Taylor's most important rule of travel left a lasting memory

Traveling with Elizabeth Taylor was an experience to remember.

Tim Mendelson, cotrustee of Taylor's estate and executive assistant for her last two decades of life, recalls the actress continuing to travel despite struggles with her health that came later in life.

The last trip Mendelson accompanied the actress on was a trip to London in spring of 2010.

"There was an event at Buckingham Palace. Then-Prince Charles was involved with the Royal Welsh Academy of Music and Drama and they were building a theater and naming it the Richard Burton Theatre," he recalls to PEOPLE.

— sign up for PEOPLE's free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.

The trip to London was scheduled to be about a month long but featured a snag at the beginning because of travel interruptions that resulted from the eruption of Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland.

"We couldn't take off. She begged the pilot to take off a day earlier than he was comfortable with. She said, 'We need to get there a couple days before,' and she convinced him to leave," Mendelson says.

Aside from their scheduled events in London, "at least every other day she planned some kind of a special thing. We went on the London Eye. We went down Thames on a boat, such a beautiful ride," he recalls.

"We went to this Michelin-star restaurant and drove all the way to the English countryside. She planned a traditional Christmas dinner. We were in a suite at The Dorchester, which had a dining room and a chef. She asked him to prepare a traditional English Christmas dinner, as we hadn't had one before. And it was so good," he continues.

Taylor was never interested in letting her health hold her back from traveling.

"The very last thing we were going to do, which was so unrealistic, was go to New York for an AIDS event. And she called me and said, 'I can't go.' She was really dedicated to AIDS. She had a great imagination, she loved life so much, and she was never going to let anything hold her back from doing the things that she wanted to do and having things to look forward to," Mendelson shares.

Her travel adventures, and those who got to share them with her, are part of what make up the legend of Elizabeth Taylor that continues to mesmerize fans to this day.

"She was a very giving person. She was a diva. She loved the best — it was all luxury with her. But she experienced things in a way money can't buy," Mendelson says.

Shannen Doherty's former costars are reflecting on the "Beverly Hills, 90210" actress' legacy one year after her death.

Doherty, who starred as Brenda Walsh on "Beverly Hills, 90210" and Prue Halliwell on "Charmed," died one year ago at age 53.

Tori Spelling, who worked with Doherty on "Beverly Hills, 90210," marked the anniversary in an emotional Instagram post on Sunday, July 13.

"Grief is weird," the actress wrote. "It presents itself in different ways and at different times but never fades. Just like your memory. In fact, it burns epically in my soul more and more as the days pass."

Shannen Doherty attends the FOX Summer TCA 2019 All-Star Party on Aug. 7, 2019, in Los Angeles.

Spelling continued that she is carrying "everything you taught me" and that she has "tried hard to be the power you believed I could be" in the year since Doherty's death. "I promise— the torch you passed is lit," she concluded. "And it's not going out. warrior friend. I love you forever Shan xo."

Ian Ziering, who starred as Steve Sanders on "Beverly Hills, 90210," also paid tribute to Doherty on Instagram and explained why he did not post about her death when it happened. The actor said Doherty was "fierce, funny," and "full of life" while battling cancer, so her "passing hit me like a freight train."

"I was shocked," he wrote. "I truly believed she was going to pull off one more miracle. When she died a year ago, I didn't post anything. And yes, some people criticized that. To them I say: grief isn't a performance. It's personal. Let people grieve how they grieve."

He added that it's been "hard" being with his former castmates without Doherty and Luke Perry, who died in 2019. "That kind of loss doesn't fade," he said. "It just rearranges the furniture in your heart."

Shannen Doherty attends the Paramount Network Launch Party on Jan. 18, 2018, in Los Angeles.

Holly Marie Combs, who starred as Piper Halliwell on "Charmed," wrote that it only feels like "a minute," not a year, since Doherty's death. "You still light the way for so many," she said. "And you are missed by so many."

Sarah Michelle Gellar also shared an Instagram video showing photos of the two friends together over the years. She posted the montage with a broken heart emoji as the caption.

When did Shannen Doherty die?

How did Shannen Doherty die?

Doherty died from cancer "after many years of fighting the disease," her publicist said in a statement last year, adding that she "was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie." The "Charmed" star had been open about documenting her health challenges and was originally diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015.

Spelling later criticized the Oscars for not including Doherty in the yearly in memoriam segment. She said on the "Let's Be Clear" podcast, "For all of us watching that loved her and loved her work, it felt like not only was she robbed, but we were robbed."

LONDON (AP) — A British aristocrat who went on the run with her boyfriend and their newborn daughter in 2023 were convicted Monday of killing the infant.

Constance Marten, 38, and Mark Gordon, 51, were found guilty of gross negligence manslaughter during their second trial at London's Central Criminal Court. They were previously convicted of perverting the course of justice, concealing the birth of a child and child cruelty during their first trial.

Marten had secretly given birth to a girl named Victoria after the couple's other four children were taken by courts that found there was a risk of harm to them.

Despite having wealthy parents with connections to the royal family and her own trust fund, Marten rejected her privilege. She lived at times without paying rent and while on the lam scavenged food from trash bins and camped in freezing conditions.

Police launched a massive nationwide search that lasted seven weeks after a placenta was found Jan. 5, 2023, in the couple's burned-out and abandoned car in northwestern England.

The couple spent hundreds of pounds on cabs to shuttle around the country as they avoided using credit cards or anything that might identify them.

After their arrest in Brighton on Feb. 27, the couple refused to say where the baby was. Gordon, who served more than 20 years in a U.S. prison for rape, said "What's the big deal?" when asked about the baby's welfare.

Two days later, police found the baby's decomposed body in a shopping bag under rubbish in a garden shed. The infant either died from hypothermia or was suffocated, prosecutors said.

The couple said it was tragic accident that occurred when Marten was sleeping.

Both defendants testified during the second trial, but cut their testimony short during cross-examination. Marten called the prosecution "heartless" and "diabolical."

Jeffrey Epstein: Democrats use MAGA 'clent list' fury against Trump, GOP

Savannah Kuchar, USA TODAYJuly 14, 2025 at 11:39 PM

WASHINGTON − President Donald Trump and his administration are taking friendly fire over the Justice Department's recent review of the Jeffrey Epstein case files. Now, Democrats are getting their shots in too.

Rep. Marc Veasey, D-Texas, is one of a handful of Democratic lawmakers taking advantage of an emerging schism between Trump and his base. Veasey said he plans to introduce a resolution July 14 calling for the release of "all files related to the Epstein case."

Trump and top members of his administration spent years stoking MAGA anticipation of a scandalous Epstein "client list" and evidence the disgraced financier did not commit suicide in 2019 − only to let the base down with a Justice Department report last week confirming there was no list and that Epstein had taken his own life.

"Either (Trump) and his acolytes fueled the rumors of the significance of these Epstein files to help his campaign, or something is there!" Veasey wrote in a July 13 post. "Put up or Shut up!"

Trump said during his 2024 reelection campaign that he would support releasing additional details from the Epstein case.

But a new memo by the Justice Department and FBI out July 7 reported no evidence of a client list or that Epstein had been murdered in custody.

Prominent MAGA figures were incensed, and many have called for the ouster of Attorney General Pam Bondi.

"Blondi has underserved President Trump and (Vice President JD Vance)," conservative activist and social media influencer Laura Loomer wrote on X July 11, using a derogatory nickname for the attorney general.

"Sadly, now the base's patience is wearing thin," Loomer added.

Another close Trump ally, former White House chief strategist and podcaster Steve Bannon even warned the blow up could cost Republicans in upcoming elections.

Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) holds up a photo of President Donald Trump with late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during a meeting of the the House Oversight and Accountability Committee during a House investigation of Hunter Biden, January 10, 2024.

"It's deeper than Epstein," Bannon told a crowd of young conservatives at Turning Point USA's Student Action Summit July 12.

"For this to go away," he added, "you're going to lose 10 percent of the MAGA movement. If we lose 10 percent of the MAGA movement right now, we're going to lose 40 seats in (2026), we're going to lose the presidency."

Democrats sure hope so.

An attendee flashes a shirt reading "WHERE IS THE JEFFREY EPSTEIN CLIENT LIST" during the second day of the Republican National Convention at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconson, on July 16, 2024.

Along with Rep. Veasey, fellow Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna of California is bringing forward an amendment to an unrelated bill that similarly calls for the publication of documents related to Epstein's case.

Both proposals, unlikely to advance in a GOP-controlled legislature, could still put Republicans in the awkward position of siding with Democrats and satisfying their MAGA base, or trying to move past the issue as Trump has requested.

"We're on one Team, MAGA, and I don't like what's happening," the president wrote in a July 12 post. "We have a PERFECT Administration, THE TALK OF THE WORLD, and 'selfish people' are trying to hurt it, all over a guy who never dies, Jeffrey Epstein."
