LOS ANGELES (AP) — Hirving Lozano and Anders Dreyer scored, and San Diego FC spoiled the home debut of Los Angeles FC forward Son Heung-min with a 2-1 victory Sunday night.

After Dreyer got the tiebreaking goal in the 66th minute, Western Conference-leading San Diego held on against a barrage of LAFC chances to extend its unbeaten streak to six matches in MLS play.

Denis Bouanga scored in the first half for LAFC, but the French star and Son both failed to convert golden scoring chances in the final minutes of expansion San Diego's first trip 120 miles north to BMO Stadium. CJ Dos Santos made three saves for the visitors, including a diving stop on Son in second-half injury time.

Son was given a hero's welcome in his first match in Los Angeles, taking the field nearly four weeks after LAFC announced the landmark signing of the South Korean star following his decade at Tottenham. Son played his first three matches on the road for LAFC, scoring a goal and immediately energizing the offense while his new club went unbeaten.

The sellout crowd serenaded Son from the moment he stepped on the field for warmups in Los Angeles, which has the world's largest Korean population outside Korea. With thousands of fans wearing his jerseys for club and country, Son repeatedly waved to those cheering him on, and he exhorted the crowd into a frenzy right before kickoff.

Bouanga put LAFC ahead in the 15th minute with a beautiful chip volley into San Diego's net off an excellent pass from teenager David Martínez. Bouanga's goal was his 15th of the season, all in his last 19 matches.

But Lozano answered in the 33rd minute with a strike from the middle of the box for his ninth MLS goal. The Mexican national team star celebrated by taunting the famously raucous North End supporters' section.

Dreyer put San Diego ahead with a individual effort by the Danish star, slipping behind LAFC's back line to collect Jeppe Tverskov's pass and juking two defenders before firing a left-footed shot for his 14th goal.

LAFC controlled play for long stretches, but couldn't even it.

Son hit a screamer toward the far top corner in the 45th minute, but Dos Santos made a superb leaping save.

Hugo Lloris' long pass put Son in a one-on-one break in the 74th minute, but he couldn't get a shot off.

Son then hit the post in the 78th minute with a shot from the top of the box.

Bouanga got alone on the keeper in the 82nd minute, but waited too long to take a shot.

Son's hard shot in the 92nd minute was saved by a diving Dos Santos.

Mark Hamill has been married to his wife, Marilou Hamill, for 47 years, and the couple recently revealed their secrets on how they have stayed happy in their relationship.

"Don't sweat the little stuff," Marilou, 70, said of how they have remained a solid in an interview with People published on Sunday, August 31. "And also, go in knowing you're not going to change anyone. So you have to accept their quirks and their behavior."

After Marilou made the comment, Mark, 73, jokingly chimed in, "What quirks?"

The Star Wars actor said he agreed with everything Marilou said, adding that "acceptance" and "communication" are essential parts of a successful marriage.

"I just think that when you find the right one, the odds are against you," Mark continued. "But if you do get lucky, you just have to hang on and be grateful that you were able to find that one."

Mark and Marilou met in the mid '70s at a dental office, where she worked as a dental hygienist. After they fell in love, the couple got marriage during a wedding ceremony in December 1978 at their Malibu home. They went on to welcome three kids: Nathan Hamill, 46, Griffin Hamill, 42, and Chelsea Hamill, 37.

There's no denying that the couple is still madly in love, and Mark shared a tribute to Marilou on their wedding anniversary in December 2024. "On This Day in 1978: I married my dental hygienist, Marilou York," he wrote alongside one throwback photo and one recent snapshot of the couple. "She cleaned my teeth & the rest … is history."

Randy Boone, who played the singing and guitar-playing rancher on long-running NBC Western series The Virginian, has died at the age of 83, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

His wife Lana Boone told THR that he died on Thursday, August 28. No other details were given.

Boone was one of the remaining few cast members of The Virginian who were still alive. With his death, Gary Clarke, Roberta Shore and Don Quine are the only major recurring stars who are still with us. Main cast members Doug McClure and James Drury died in 1995 and 2020, respectively.

In the 2006 Paul Green book A History of Television's The Virginian, 1962-1971, Boone talked about how his mother wanted him to stick with college, but his "heart wasn't in it," so he eventually hitchhiked to California and the rest is history.

Boone was a native of North Carolina before he broke into show business on the 1960s NBC comedy It's a Man's World. That show was cancelled after one season, but Boone quickly landed his role on The Virginian and starred on that show for 70 episodes. After he left The Virginian, Boone starred on the CBS Western series Cimarron Strip alongside Stuart Whitman, Percy Herbert and Jill Townsend.

In A History of Television's The Virginian, Boone talked about how his horse on the show was his real-life horse named Clyde, and because he wasn't trained for movies or TV, Clyde definitely had a mind of his own, much to the fans' delight.

"He acted very much like a real horse, and I got a lot of fan mail about how he didn't stand still. He was spirited," — Randy Boone

"He acted very much like a real horse, and I got a lot of fan mail about how he didn't stand still. He was spirited," said Boone, who was hired largely because of his experience with horses and because he could sing and play the guitar. Fans liked Boone's singing rancher character so much that the show released an album of songs from the show performed by Boone and co-star Shore in 1965. But even that wasn't enough to keep him on the show.

Later, after several producer changes, Boone was let go from the show, which he didn't think was the right move.

"I was let go…I was told that [producer Frank Price] thought I was window dressing and wasn't needed on the show, but I feel that I was needed as much as anybody," said Boone in the book. "I think a show suffers when you make big changes in a show, and you lose the actors that caused the people to fall in love with the show. When they go, it suffers. But the time The Virginian had turned over to Charles Bickford, I was working over at CBS in a series with Stuart Whitman called Cimarron Strip. That was fabulous."

Boone also appeared on The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, Wagon Train, The Twilight Zone, The Fugitive, Bonanza, Lassie, Emergency!, Gunsmoke, Kung Fu and Highway to Heaven in one-off roles. According to THR, he left acting in the late 1980s and worked in construction until he retired.

Hoda Kotb spent nearly two decades as one of the most recognizable faces on morning television. She joined NBC News in 1998, became a correspondent for Dateline, and eventually co-anchored Today—a role that made her part of millions of Americans' mornings. So when she announced in September 2024 that she would be stepping away from the show after 26 years at the network, fans were both surprised and saddened.

But for Kotb, 61, one tiny moment with her oldest daughter confirmed she'd made exactly the right choice.

On Sunday, August 31, the mom of two sat down with Kristen Welker for a Meet the Moment conversation, where she revealed the touching exchange that validated her life-changing decision.

"For 26 years I did similar things every single day. And one day, Kristen, in January I woke up and my alarm didn't go off at 3:30," Kotb recalled. "I went downstairs to my office and Haley ran down and she looked at me and said at 5 a.m., 'You really are here.' And I think in that tiny moment I was like this decision was right on so many levels."

Kotb adopted her daughter Haley in 2017 when she was 52, and welcomed Hope in April 2019 at age 54. Both adoptions came after her breast cancer diagnosis in 2007 left her unable to conceive.

Becoming a mother later in life has been transformative for Kotb, who told Welker: "The best decade—the best part of my life started at 50. Everyone's gonna talk about their 30s and their 20s... 50s and beyond to me is where it's all happening and it's amazing."

She credits the timing as perfect, despite what others might think. "Everything is right on time and I try to remind myself of that. Like I became a mom right on time, you know, this was the moment for me."

While Kotb admits she misses her NBC family deeply—remembering "walking out on the Plaza" and "holding Savannah's hand in good times and in bad"—she's found peace in her decision.

"I think both things you can hold in your hands, right? You can miss and love something and also be excited for the next thing," she said.

That "next thing" includes her wellness company Joy 101, which offers breathwork, meditation, and retreats. The venture grew from her own transformation after trying breathwork for the first time at 58. "After 10 minutes of doing it, I exploded in tears and I literally freaked out," she recalled of her first breathwork session. "I felt like someone had squeegeed my brain. I felt like I had clarity and energy."

In a video posted on the brand's official Instagram page in May, Kotb explained, "Joy 101 is for anybody who kind of wants a little bit of a change. Your life's going along fine. It's good enough. I mean that's what I felt for many years—good enough. This is for people who are tired of good enough. You want something more. Something better. So Joy 101 is kind of for everybody."

As for Today, Kotb's role didn't stay vacant for long. Craig Melvin stepped in as co-anchor alongside Savannah Guthrie on January 13. Meanwhile, Jenna Bush Hager continues to lead the fourth hour, which has since been rebranded as Today with Jenna & Friends and now features a rotating lineup of guest co-hosts.
