A movie studio behind some of the most iconic superhero films has allegedly purged their staff of woke activists in a last ditch effort to save their franchise, while their rival doubles down on progressive plotlines. Insider sources suggest Marvel Studios is overhauling its leadership to tackle activist staffers keen to project their views onto plotlines. But Lucasfilm - the studio behind Star Wars - is said to be continuing to let progressive workers rule the roost.

Fans were left stunned as Karel Tilga's attempt at the pole vault went horribly wrong at the Paris Olympics. The Estonian athlete was competing in the decathlon, but he struggled in the pole vault. Tilga couldn't get the right angle and ended up hanging in the air for several seconds before falling down. The 26-year-old managed to fare better in other events, however, as he finished in 11th place overall in the decathlon out of 20 athletes.

Ledecky, 27, bested Ariarne Titmus of Australia, who shared a hug with Ledecky in the pool after she won silver, and Paige Madden of Team USA, who took home a bronze medal.
