Just last week, Trump filed a lawsuit against the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Clinton herself, demanding $24 million in damages. According to Trump, Clinton and the DNC falsely accused him of colluding with Russia to prevent him from winning the election, and then tried to undermine his presidency. Trump's LawsuitIn his lawsuit -- which was filed in the Southern District of Florida -- Trump accused Clinton and other Democrats of orchestrating an "unthinkable plot" to tie him to a hostile foreign power.
They carried out this nefarious plot by "falsifying evidence, deceiving law enforcement, and exploiting access to highly-sensitive data sources," the suit claims. And when their efforts to stop Trump from winning the election failed, they pivoted to undermining his presidency, according to the lawsuit. Can Trump Win? So, can Trump actually prove Clinton and other Democrats conspired to tie him to Russia, and actually win this legal case? No, according to several prominent legal experts. Laurence Tribe, a professor of Constitutional Law at Harvard, described Trump's lawsuit as "absurd." "An absurd lawsuit by an absurdly litigious former president who has only himself to blame for being compromised by Putin and thus looking like he is compromised by Russia," he said, as reported by Newsweek. "It's difficult to put into words just how deeply flawed and utterly hopeless this lawsuit is," Honig stated. Bradley P. Moss, an attorney focusing on national security, was even harsher. "You couldn’t even pay me to read this garbage," he tweeted. "This isn't a serious lawsuit. It won't survive a motion to dismiss and is receiving far more attention than it deserves," added formed federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti. Trump's Lawyers 'Should Be Embarrassed' National security attorney Mark S. Zaid said Trump's lawyers "should be embarrassed for filing this lawsuit." "In fact, every lawyer should be embarrassed that it even exists. Don't be surprised when a Motion for Rule 11 sanctions are filled against both Trump and his lawyers," Zaid added. Since most legal experts agree Clinton will easily fight off Trump's lawsuit, some are wondering why he even filed it in the first place. | Russia Slams Joe Biden's Putin Statement As 'Alarming' Posted: 28 Mar 2022 01:05 PM PDT President Joe Biden visited Poland over the weekend, making it clear that the United States will support Ukraine as it fights to hold off the Russian invasion. Speaking in the capital city of Warsaw, Biden took aim at Russian President Vladimir Putin and made a remark that sent shockwaves around the world. "For God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power," he said. Biden's Remark As The Hill reported, Biden's comment was interpreted around the world as essentially an admission that the U.S. is pursuing regime change in Russia, looking to remove Putin from power by any means necessary. Secretary of State Antony Blinken tried to walk back Biden's comments, saying that official Washington has no policy for regime change in Moscow. The White House did the same, with an official stating the following: "The president’s point was that Putin cannot be allowed to exercise power over his neighbors or the region. He was not discussing Putin’s power in Russia, or regime change."Kremlin's Reaction Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov slammed Biden, saying that his remark was "certainly alarming," and stressed that Moscow will "continue to track" his statements.
"The president of Russia is elected by Russians," Peskov said, insisting that it is "not for Biden to decide" who will be in charge of Russia. "This speech -- and the passages which concern Russia -- is astounding, to use polite words. He doesn't understand that the world is not limited to the United States and most of Europe," the Kremlin spokesman said of Biden. Tensions Remain HighBiden made the problematic comment at a very sensitive moment, just days after calling Putin a "butcher" and a "war criminal." Right after Biden called the Russian president a war criminal, the Kremlin summoned the U.S. ambassador to Moscow for a meeting to provide him a "note of protest." The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, meanwhile, issued a chilling warning. "It is emphasized that such statements by the American President, unworthy of a statesman of such a high rank, put Russian-American relations on the verge of breaking," it said. Thought to be primarily a product of supply chain issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic, inflation has only gotten worse since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Gas prices, in particular, have soared. The federal government has taken a number of steps to combat inflation, but the American people desperately need immediate relief, so a number of state governments have decided to take matters into their own hands. Stimulus Checks As reported by CBS News, about a dozen states are looking at sending tax rebate checks to their residents in order to offset inflation. Georgia's Republican Governor Brian Kemp, for instance, recently signed a law to send checks of up to $500 to residents of the Peach State. Democratic Maine Gov. Janet Mills, meanwhile, has proposed sending $850 to each resident. She said that her rebate would "help Maine people grapple with these increased costs by putting money directly back into their pockets." Which States Are Considering Stimulus Checks?It's not just Georgia and Maine that are looking into stimulus checks. In California, Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom has proposed sending direct payments of $400 per vehicle to state residents. With approval from state lawmakers, the checks could be sent out in July. Democratic Hawaii Gov. David Ige has floated sending $100 to each taxpayer and their dependents, while Idaho Republican Gov. Brad Little signed a bill that will result in a family of four receiving at least $300.
