Skier Eileen Gu Reveals Her Reasons For Representing China

Posted: 11 Jan 2022 09:28 PM PST

Freestyle skier Eileen Gu shocked the world in 2019 when she announced on Instagram that she would be competing for China instead of the USA in the 2022 Winter Olympics to be held in Beijing. The 18-year-old sports prodigy was born in San Francisco, California, to an American father and a Chinese mother, was educated and got her ski training in the USA, and started competing in major events in 2018 as an American.

The following year, however, she decided to switch allegiance to Team China. Find out why below.

‘Incredibly Tough Decision’

On June 7, 2019, Gu posted on Instagram about her choice to represent her mother's homeland in the upcoming Winter Olympics.

"This was an incredibly tough decision for me to make," the freeski star, who was 15 at the time, wrote. "I am proud of my heritage, and equally proud of my American upbringings. The opportunity to help inspire millions of young people where my mom was born, during the 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help to promote the sport I love."

Raising Awareness For Snow Sports

Needless to say, Gu's decision stirred controversy and was met with hateful comments and even death threats.

In an interview with Highsnobiety, she explained further, "I have been thinking about competing for China since I was 11, when the announcement was made that the Olympics would take place in China. After the announcement, China set a goal of putting 300 million people on snow to raise awareness for snow sports before 2022. Just being able to inspire people to start trying has been one of my biggest goals."

Representation

The 2021 X Games gold medalist also noted that while she had American and Canadian skiers to look up to when she started training, young kids in China didn't have that privilege "because the sport didn't really exist at a professional level there," she said. "Essentially, it comes back to representation — I wanted to inspire more people to pick up skiing in China because it's brought me so much more than medals."

In January 2021, Gu became the first Chinese athlete to win gold in the X Games.

Making History

Her haul, consisting of two golds and one bronze, doubled China's total medal count in the X Games, which was a "huge deal" to her, she told Forbes. "That was the main reason that I decided to ski for China, to make that history and be that inspiration for a new generation of freeskiers, especially younger Chinese freeskiers."

Growing up, Gu had idols like Maggie Voisin who inspired her game. "Looking over to China, I just realized I wanted to be able to be that for somebody else," she said.

Warriors Injury Report: Draymond Green Unlikely To Play Against Grizzlies

Posted: 11 Jan 2022 04:45 PM PST

After more than two years of waiting, All-Star shooting guard Klay Thompson has finally reunited with Golden State Warriors superstars Stephen Curry and Draymond Green on the court. With the Warriors' trio of Curry, Green, and Thompson finally complete, they are expected to have a better chance of fully dominating the Western Conference and winning the NBA championship title in the 2021-22 NBA season.

However, injuries continue to haunt the Warriors. In Thompson's return to the court, the Warriors lost Green to an injury.

Draymond Green Out Against Grizzlies

Green may have started in the Warriors' recent game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, but he only entered the court to honor Thompson's return. After seven seconds, Green committed a foul and exited the game for good. According to Marc J. Spears of ESPN, the veteran power forward is experiencing tightness in his left calf and is also set to miss their upcoming game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

"Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green will miss Tuesday's game against the host Memphis Grizzlies because of a calf injury," Spears reported. "Green experienced tightness in his left calf in warmups during Sunday's 96-82 victory over the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers."

Can Warriors Beat Grizzlies Without Draymond Green?

The Warriors would definitely miss Green's presence when they face the Grizzlies on Tuesday night. Green may not be a prolific scorer, but he's making a huge impact for the Warriors on both ends of the floor. With the "Splash Brothers" expected to play, the Warriors remain as the heavy favorite to beat the Grizzlies.

However, though they are three ranks below them in the Western Conference standings, the Warriors shouldn't underestimate the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies are currently on a nine-game winning streak and have recently defeated powerhouse teams like the Phoenix Suns, Brooklyn Nets, and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Draymond Green's Potential Return

While he didn't join the Warriors in their trip to Memphis, there's growing optimism that Green could return to action later this week. According to Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, Green could still join their four-game road trip if his body quickly recovers from the injury.

"There's a chance he could come join us on the trip and there's a chance he might not," Kerr said, via The Mercury News. "That depends on how the next couple of days go."

After the Grizzlies, the Warriors are set to face the Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Draymond Green's Replacement & Other Injury Reports

While Green is on the sideline with a calf injury, Kerr revealed that Juan Toscano-Anderson will temporarily fill his spot at the starting power forward position. Toscano-Anderson recently suffered an ankle injury but managed to immediately rejoin the Warriors in their recent game. Against the Cavaliers, he posted two points, four rebounds, three assists, and one steal while shooting 33.3 percent from the field.

Aside from Green, the Warriors are also expected to face the Grizzlies without Otto Porter Jr. (left shoulder soreness) and Gary Payton II (left ankle sprain).

Tour The Weeknd's Ritzy L.A. Penthouse That He's Selling For $22.5 Million

Posted: 11 Jan 2022 04:25 PM PST

Fresh from releasing his fifth album, Dawn FM, Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, better known to the world as The Weeknd, is looking for a chance of pace as he prepares to say goodbye to his ultra-modern, ultra-swanky penthouse in Los Angeles. The 31-year-old Grammy-winning artist, who's giving up vertical living after upgrading to a $69 million, 33,000-square-foot megamansion in lower Bel Air last summer, is selling his Wilshire Corridor, Westwood condo, Dirt is reporting.

Should the relatively smaller 7,950-square-foot suite fetch the $22.5 million that the R&B star is asking for, it will net him a $1.5 million profit compared to what he paid for the four-bedroom, eight-bathroom home in 2019.

Tour the ritzy residence below!

Nicknamed 'The Mogul'

Aptly nicknamed "The Mogul," The Weeknd's L.A. penthouse "boasts a dark, masculine palette of deep navy blue complemented by walnut wood paneling," per a 2019 report from the Los Angeles Times. The outlet also notes its "imported wide-plank oak floors, high-end fixtures and direct elevator access."

The condo spans the entire 18th floor of the exclusive Beverly West building, a luxurious 22-story boutique high-rise that holds 35 luxury condos overlooking Los Angeles Country Club. The Weeknd's unit comes with four balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows granting sweeping views in nearly every direction -- "from the Pacific Ocean to the Santa Monica Mountains to Downtown Los Angeles," observes Dirt.

Open-Plan Great Room

Accessed through a foyer that opens into a corridor with an impressive wine vault, the open-plan great room is anchored by a massive white couch, with the space spilling into an entertainment bar, dining area, and ample window-side sitting areas perfect for taking in the panoramic views.

Dubbing it "an entertainer's dream," Architectural Digest makes note of the lining room's built-in lighted shelving and walnut paneling on accent walls, which, along with the bar's dark marble countertops, imbue the residence with "an impressive, refined energy."

Designer lighting to accentuate the soaring ceilings is part of the stylish decor, which also includes natural stone floors and high-end Italian furniture.

Custom TV Wall

The Weeknd's purchase of the property was one of the priciest condo sales ever recorded in Los Angeles County and, while the home came "loaded with amenities," the Blindings Lights singer added his personal touches.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the entertainment bar in the great room is one such example, with the three-time Grammy award winner installing a TV wall made up of four 65-inch screens to anchor the marble counter and sleek dark shelving, as seen above.

Among the condo's highlights is also the designer chef's kitchen sporting black cabinetry and state-of-the-art Miele appliances. Bearing the creative mark of famed Italian industrial designer Antonio Citterio, it boasts an oversized eat-in island on top of the elegant wood dining table that seats 10 guests.

Kingly Main Bedroom

The elegant abode's kingly master bedroom sits on the opposite end of the unit and, according to the Robb Report, it's "fit for music royalty" with wood-paneled walls, a generous ensuite bathroom, and an extra-large walk-in closet with gorgeous glass built-in cabinetry.

Meanwhile, the marble-swathed master bath features two vanities, a jewel box steam shower, and a glass-lined soaking tub.

Similarly, the other three bedrooms all boast custom closet space, with a high-tech home gym and an espresso bar located close by.

Adding to all of these are the tempting building amenities, which include a saltwater pool and spa, 24-hour concierge, valet parking, and even a rooftop helipad.

Georgia's Stetson Bennett Non-Committal On His Future With The Bulldogs

Posted: 11 Jan 2022 04:17 PM PST

Well, they've finally done it. For the first time since 1980, the Georgia Bulldogs are National Champions after taking down the Alabama Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoffs.

Kirby Smart's team was huge in the second half and got back at the very same team that knocked them down in the SEC Championship game.

And even though their defense was stellar as per usual, QB Stetson Bennett silenced his critics by having perhaps the best performance of his brief career.

Stetson Bennett Weighs In On His Future

Unfortunately, that might as well be his final game donning the Georgia uniform, as he weighed in on his future with his final year of eligibility just around the corner:

"I'm here to play football for the University of Georgia," Bennett said, per Sports Illustrated. "Once that's over, whatever my interest will be—which is hard, when you're playing college football, because you don't get the internships. You don't get all that stuff. You don't get the time off that other students get. But once that is over with—I'm majoring in economics, I'd like to go to law school."

Bennett Doesn't Know Where He'll Play Next Season

Bennett seemed non-committal when talking about his future with the program, even hinting at the possibility of entering the transfer portal:

"But for the next year, I'm gonna play football. I've got a decent amount of years. Hopefully, I live until at least 80. So, we'll say 60 years to not play football," Bennett added. "I'm going to play football this year — we'll see where. We will see if I can trust the decisions made by the staff, and we will see where I'm going to play. But right now I'm enjoying this national championship and the next part, who knows."

Kirby Smart Reveals What He Told Bennett During Halftime

Bennett took his game up a notch in the second half of the season and helped his team march down the field to take a late lead against Nick Saban's squad:

"I told him we've got to settle down," Smart said, as quoted by Dawg Nation. "We haven't had probably one drive that we didn't have negative plays starting on where we started backed up. We're shooting ourselves in the foot, we're first and 15, second and 20, you're not going to have a good football team when you do that. We've got to get some things together on offense."

The Ultimate UnderDawg

Stetson Bennett made it to Georgia as a walk-on QB in 2017 and was questioned throughout his entire career. He was a backup until eventually earning the job in 2019, and even there he was questioned.

He delivered when his team needed him the most, throwing for 224 yards and a couple of touchdowns, and a QBR of 163.1.

He may not be an NFL-caliber QB and he may not even be a part of Kirby Smart's team next season, but Stetson Bennett has crowned himself as the ultimate underdog and has written his name in Georgia Football history forever.

NBA Rumors: LA Lakers Could Land Myles Turner For Package Centered On Talen Horton-Tucker

Posted: 11 Jan 2022 04:05 PM PST

Indiana Pacers center/power forward Myles Turner is one of the NBA players who are highly expected to be traded before the 2022 NBA trade deadline. Since the start of the 2021-22 NBA season, there were speculations about Turner's growing frustration with the Pacers, especially with his limited role on the offensive end of the floor.

Turner may have denied that he's demanding a trade, but he's currently facing an uncertain future in Indiana. With the team finally deciding to undergo another rebuild, rumors are circulating that the Pacers will try to trade him and other veteran stalwarts this season.

Myles Turner To Los Angeles Lakers

One of the teams that could express a strong interest in acquiring Turner before the 2022 NBA trade deadline is the Los Angeles Lakers. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Lakers are among the teams that have a "level of interest" in the Pacers' big man.

"Rival NBA teams are ramping up conversations with the Pacers involving guard Caris LeVert and center Myles Turner," Charania wrote, as quoted by ClutchPoints. "The Mavericks and Knicks are expressing interest in trading for Turner, sources said. The Lakers and Hornets have had a level of interest in Turner as well, sources added."

Proposed Trade To Acquire Myles Turner

In a recent article, Kenneth Teape of NBA Analysis Network came up with a hypothetical blockbuster trade idea that would enable the Lakers to acquire Turner from the Pacers before the 2022 NBA trade deadline. In the proposed trade scenario, the Lakers would be sending a package that includes Talen Horton-Tucker, Kendrick Nunn, DeAndre Jordan, and a 2025 first-round pick to the Pacers in exchange for Turner.

If the trade becomes a reality, Teape believes it would help both the Lakers and the Pacers in filling up the needs to improve on their roster.

Myles Turner Solidifies Lakers' Frontcourt

Trading for Turner would make a lot of sense for the Lakers, especially if they want to minimize the risk of playing LeBron James as their starting center. Turner would boost the Lakers' frontcourt and improve their performance on both ends of the floor. Aside from being a dominant force under the basket, he's also capable of knocking down shots from beyond the arc.

Sharing the court with a floor-spacing big man would make it easier for James to penetrate the basket or kick the ball out when he's trapped by the opposing team's defense. Turner and Anthony Davis aren't expected to have a hard time building chemistry in the Lakers' frontcourt since they are both capable of playing the center and power forward positions.

Why The Pacers Would Make The Trade

The proposed trade deal with the Lakers would be worth exploring for the Pacers. Aside from addressing the logjam in their frontcourt, they would also be adding a young and promising talent in Horton-Tucker, a combo guard in Nunn, and a future first-round pick.

"Horton-Tucker is oozing with potential and could be a nice long-term piece as a two-way wing for the Pacers to build around," Teape wrote. "Nunn was someone linked to them in free agency before ultimately signing with the Lakers."

NBA Rumors: Knicks 'Not Totally Sold' On Julius Randle Long-Term

Posted: 11 Jan 2022 03:59 PM PST

When they signed him in the 2019 NBA free agency, Julius Randle was viewed as one of the players who would lead the New York Knicks back to title contention. After being named an All-Star and All-NBA Second Team in the 2020-21 NBA season, the Knicks rewarded Randle with a four-year, $117 million extension last summer.

Unfortunately, Randle has struggled to remain consistent in his third year in New York, making some people wonder if the Knicks made the right decision to give him a huge payday in the 2021 NBA offseason.

Julius Randle Facing An Uncertain Future With Knicks

This season, Randle has shown a decline in his statistics. In 39 games, he's averaging 19.0 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 4.8 assists while shooting 41.6 percent from the field and 31.2 percent from beyond the arc, per ESPN. The Knicks are yet to make Randle available on the trading block but with their rumored interested in Detroit Pistons small forward Jerami Grant and Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner, Marc Berman of the New York Post said that it's a sign that they are not "totally sold" on Randle for the long-term.

"The rebuilding Pistons are open to trading Grant and the Knicks reportedly have shown some interest," Berman wrote. "With their persistent monitoring of the Myles Turner situation in Indiana, it's a demonstration the Knicks may not be totally sold on Randle for the long term."

Jerami Grant & Myles Turner As Potential Replacement For Julius Randle?

Both Grant and Turner are currently available on the trade market. With the Pistons and the Pacers in the initial phase of the rebuilding process, rumors are circulating that they will try to move both veteran big men before the 2022 NBA trade deadline. If the Knicks succeed to acquire Grant or Turner, there's a strong chance that their next move is to find Randle a new home.

Though they also play other positions, Grant and Turner are capable of filling the hole that Randle would be leaving in the Knicks' frontcourt.

Can Knicks Use Julius Randle As Main Trade Chip?

Despite his struggle earlier in the 2021-22 NBA season, Randle would still be a valuable trade chip for the Knicks. However, it remains a big question mark if the Pacers and the Pistons would have any interest in swapping Turner or Grant for him. With both teams just starting a rebuild, they are expected to seek young players and future draft assets in the potential deal involving Turner and Grant.

If the Knicks badly want to get rid of Randle, they may need to find a third team that will help them facilitate a trade with the Pacers or the Pistons.

Souring Relationship Between Julius Randle & Knicks' Fans

The rumors about Knicks' interest in Grant and Turner surfaced amid the growing tension between Randle and the Knicks' fans. Randle recently became the center of controversy after telling Knicks' fans to "shut the f–k up." Though the veteran power forward has already apologized for his behavior, it seems like the Knicks' fans still haven't forgiven him.

In their 111-96 blowout victory over the San Antonio Spurs, Randle was booed out of the game after finishing two points and three turnovers.

Alexandra Daddario Delivers A Modern Twist On ‘Portrait Of A Lady’

Posted: 11 Jan 2022 03:54 PM PST

Blue-eyed beauty Alexandra Daddario is the perfect muse - just ask celebrity photographer Storm Santos. Every time the two come together, they create magic and dazzle the actress' 21.3 million Instagram followers. In the most recent Instagram post, the Baywatch actress transports us into the early 20th century when ladies wore frills and frocks. From her makeup to jewelry and hairstyle, the 35-year-old gives us modern-day twist on Victorian royalty style.

The High Neck Lace Collar

Alex wears a black woolen knit sweater with a bold white lace frilly collar. Once you zoom into the post, you'll see the intricate details in the knitwork combining multiple patterns into one masterpiece. The black is a midnight shade that serves as a perfect contrast to the white-collar. Unlike the knit sweater, her collar is made of lace designed with perforated circles in two layers on the outer hem. It's also double-layered for extra drama, just like the Victorian Era frocks.

The Most Curious Accessories

Alex wears an exciting piece of jewelry on her left ear (the only side we can see based on the picture's angle.) The earring is a four-layered pearl drop design with size progressions (smallest to biggest) on each double layer. The first two pearls clip her inner earlobe a little above the usual spot while the second two drop from behind her piercing. The lace collar is so high we can hardly tell if there's a neckpiece adorning her slender neck, even though we can sneak a peek from the angle. Assuming she's not wearing any, it's a perfect fashion decision because the collar does a good job framing her neck.

Hair And Makeup

Can we get into the details of her hair and makeup? Alex elevated her look to the final level with her avant-garde makeup in such a simple outfit. She wore a glossy nude lip and centered the drama on her eyes instead. The shimmery black eyeshadow swoops in a cat-eye angle making her natural icy blue eyes pop.

Her rose-shade blush blends flawlessly into a shiny bronze highlight while she piles her natural brunette hair into e messy updo atop her head. As fabulous as the entire look is, we can't overlook the expertise of Storm Santos behind the camera. He captures her face in a candid shot giving her a youthful, innocent look.

A Muse And Her Stylist

Since taking on Serra Gerris as a stylist, Alex hasn't missed fashion-wise once. From neutral-toned outfits to haute-couture in the garden, The White Lotus actress is killing it as a fashionista so much so Elle honored her as one of the Women in Hollywood in October last year. The stylist reposted her Victorian-style picture calling it Portrait Of A Lady.

Bronx Fire Victims: What We Know So Far

Posted: 11 Jan 2022 03:49 PM PST

In the Bronx on Sunday, in what is being described as the deadliest fire New York has seen in decades, 19 people were killed and at least 44 injured, many of them children.

The fire was apparently ignited by a malfunctioning electrical space heater. The heater caught fire in one of the apartments, and deadly smoke spread throughout the high-rise building.

The smoke darkened hallways and stairwells, but residents did not immediately react to the fire alarms, as reported by The New York Times.

Children Involved

Here's what we know about the victims so far, as per The New York Post.

When it comes to children, a 12-year-old boy, a pair of 11-year-old girls, a 6-year-old boy, two 5-year-old girls, and a 4-year-old all died in the fire. An 11-month-old girl, a 7-month-old girl, and at least eight other children remain hospitalized.

"These are children. I saw the firefighters taking the children out … the children of my community. Their lives have been taken and snatched away in a second. So we're praying," resident Renee Howard told the outlet.

Other Victims

Forty-five-year-old Fanta Barrow confirmed to The New York Post that her 19-year-old cousin died in the fire.

"He was a tall guy, very beautiful guy. He was lovely. He liked everybody. He was in school right now. I was talking to him, he said, 'Auntie, I want to be a lawyer.' I said, 'Oh, you have to make money. … I just pray for you,'" Barrow said.

Yusupha Jawara, meanwhile, said he is still searching for his brother and sister-in-law.

"My family needs closure, at least. I was in the emergency room yesterday since 12, nobody's giving me any information," he stated.

Missing Individuals

Dorel Anderson was visiting her boyfriend when the building caught on fire. She has cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair, and it appears that neither she nor her boyfriend made it out alive.

Anderson's family has received no information as of yet. "We were given no information. We can't find her," her mom said in a brief statement.

Julie Bolcer of the New York City Medical Examiner's Office said that the office currently has 17 decedents from the fire in Bronx and Manhattan morgues.

The victims are still being identified.

Fundraiser For Victims' Families

Many of the victims are immigrants from the West African nation of Gambia.

A GoFundMe campaign started by the Gambian Youths Organization has raised more than $800,000 for the victims' families so far.

"At the moment, at least 19 people have been pronounced dead, including young children, and dozens others have sustained life-threatening injuries. We ask that you help us support the victims of this tragedy. All proceeds will be distributed to the families by the Gambian Youth Organization (GYO)," the fundraiser says.

Coach Steve Nash Discusses James Harden's Injury & Potential Return To The Court

Posted: 11 Jan 2022 03:32 PM PST

The Brooklyn Nets' fanbase recently got good news when the team finally decided to let All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving play in the 2021-22 NBA season. Although he's only allowed to play in road games, Irving would finally have the opportunity to build chemistry with Kevin Durant and James Harden. Unfortunately, just when Irving was about to play his second game this season, the Nets lost another member of their "Big Three" to injury.

In the Nets' 121-119 victory over the San Antonio Spurs, Harden suffered a left knee hyperextension that forced him to miss their game against the Portland Trail Blazers, according to Nick Friedell of ESPN.

James Harden-Less Nets Lost To Trail Blazers

Despite not having Harden, the Nets headed into their Monday matchup against the Trail Blazers as the heavy favorite to win. Aside from the fact that they still have Durant and Irving, the Trail Blazers were also playing without the explosive backcourt duo of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum. Lillard is suffering from an abdominal injury, while McCollum is on out due to family reasons.

Unfortunately, the Nets failed to take advantage of the star-less Trail Blazers and lost the game at Moda Center, 114-108.

Coach Steve Nash Talks About James Harden's Injury

Harden's absence has undeniably contributed to the Nets' struggle on the offensive end in their recent game against the Trail Blazers. Luckily, it won't take long before the Nets could play Harden again on the court. In an interview with reporters, Nets head coach Steve Nash said there's nothing to worry about Harden's injury, adding that he's set to play when they go up against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night.

"I think we're being overly cautious," Nash said, via ESPN. "A heavy stretch of games. Expect him to play Wednesday."

Battle Of Best East Teams

Harden's return against the Bulls would be perfect for the Nets as it would allow them to see how their "Big Three" would perform against one of the strongest contenders in the Eastern Conference this season. As surprising as it may seem, the Bulls currently hold the No. 1 spot in the Eastern Conference with a 26-11 record.

Though they haven't been in the playoffs since 2017, the Bulls are no longer a team that can be easily underestimated as they now have a formidable core of Lonzo Ball, Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic.

Nets Almost Lost Kyrie Irving To Injury

While Harden was on the sideline, the Nets almost lost another member of their "Big Three" to an injury in their recent game against the Trail Blazers. In the final minutes of their matchup, Irving and Trail Blazers small forward Nassir Little fought for a loose ball. Little dove to the floor that resulted in Irving hurting his ankle.

Though he seemed fine after the game, Irving called out Little for his "unnecessary" action during the game.

"It was a bad play. It was unnecessary for him to dive that far away from the ball," Irving said, as quoted by Bleacher Report's Sean Highkin, via Twitter. "There's no place in our game for it. I get the intent from Nassir, it's nothing against him. But it was unnecessary."

The 5 Best Royal Rumbles In History

Posted: 11 Jan 2022 02:54 PM PST

One of the most exciting nights of the year for WWE fans is the Royal Rumble. The Royal Rumble sets the stage for WrestleMania by determining who will move on to face the champion. It's when we see the top storylines of the year take shape.

The Rumble has produced surprises, new feuds, new alliances, and a lot of excitement through the years. Some Rumbles have been better than others, however. Below we rank the top-5 Royal Rumble matches in history. Scroll down to reveal #5.

2001 Royal Rumble Won By "Stone Cold" Steve Austin

By early 2001, the wrestling promotional war was almost over. Rumors that World Championship Wrestling was close to its demise were ever-present. The promotion would eventually present the last ever episode of WCW Nitro on March 31st of that year.

WWE was once again back on its pedestal as the greatest wrestling promotion in the world. The Attitude Era wouldn't last for much longer but come the Rumble that year, they still had names like "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, the Rock, Triple H, and more. Austin would pull out his record 3rd Rumble win in 2001. Other history-making events that year included Kane eliminating a then-record 11 opponents after teaming up with his brother the Undertaker. Drew Carey, Haku, and the Honky Tonk Man would all make surprise appearances as well in what was one of the best-received Rumbles in history.

Scroll down to reveal the 4th best Royal Rumble in history.

2007 Royal Rumble Won By The Undertaker

The 2007 Royal Rumble is fondly remembered for what happened at the very end. The Undertaker dramatically entered in at the #30 position. It was a spot that nobody had actually won the Rumble from by that point. Undertaker would be the first, however, but not before an epic encounter with Shawn Michaels.

Michales and the Undertaker were the final two left at the end of the match. They would battle for a near 10-minutes before Taker finally eliminated Shawn. Taker would then go on to win the World Championship from Batista at WrestleMania that year.

Scroll down to reveal the 3rd best Royal Rumble in history.

2019 Women's Royal Rumble Won By Becky Lynch

The 2nd ever women's Royal Rumble match is one of the most important Rumbles ever.

Becky Lynch was not even supposed to be in the match. After she lost her title to Asuka earlier in the show, however, she came out as a late replacement at the #28 spot. She'd end up tossing out Charlotte Flair as the final elimination to become just the 2nd ever woman to win a Rumble.

Lynch would go on to make history at WrestleMania that year by winning the first-ever all-female WrestleMania main event against Flair and Ronda Rousey.

Scroll down to reveal the 2nd best Royal Rumble in history.

The 1992 Royal Rumble Won By Ric Flair

By 1992, WWE had established the Royal Rumble as one of the most important nights of the year. They had yet to attach the rule that the winner would go on to the main event of WrestleMania, however. In 1992, the WWF Championship was declared vacant by President Jack Tunney stemming from the controversy from the Hulk Hogan vs the Undertaker match at This Tuesday in Texas. He declared that the winner of the 1992 Royal Rumble would be the new champion.

Ric Flair lasted all the way from the #3 position to win the match and the title. Flair's post-match interview that night is one of the most iconic promos in wrestling history.

Scroll down to reveal the top Royal Rumble in WWE history.

The 1998 Royal Rumble Won By "Stone Cold" Steve Austin

The 1998 Royal Rumble is arguably the most important Rumble WWE has ever held. At the time, WCW was still winning the ratings war but WWE was catching up. A tide was turning based on the popularity of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.

Many credit the success of WrestleMania 14, Mike Tyson's involvement, and the beginnings of the Austin vs McMahon storyline for winning WWE the war with WCW. Royal Rumble 98 set the stage for all of that. Austin would go on to defeat Shawn Michaels and win the WWF Championship for the 1st time. WIth that, WWE cruised out ahead of WCW and never looked back. There was no more important Rumble in history than 1998.

Despite their unconventional start, Cowell has gushed over his love and their life since becoming parents to Eric. In October 2014, he revealed that while being a dad is great, getting married wasn't something he was ready for just yet.

“I’m the only iconic bachelor left in the entire world,” he joked during an interview with HELLO! magazine at the time. “Thanks for that, George Clooney!” (The Ocean's Eleven star, 60, married Amal Clooney earlier that year after being one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors for years.)

The British TV personality said he wanted to keep the title "a while longer," explaining, “I’ve never said no to marriage, but then again I couldn’t imagine having a kid at one point and now look at me.”

Cowell admitted that he was "always nervous" about what would happen with his partner if he were to have a child but noted that Lauren has made the transition easier. “The fact is, our baby wasn’t planned [and] was actually the best thing for us to have done and we’re very happy now," he added.

Four years later, Cowell called the socialite his "rock for the past few years," saying during his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony that she has "put up with everything I put up with."

The former American Idol judge exclusively told Us in September 2019 that he was happy with his and Lauren's family, revealing that having another baby was something they weren't thinking about at the time.

"I think he's quite happy being the only son right now," Cowell said of Eric at the time. "But we have a very, very close relationship. We're like buddies."

Not ready to say goodbye. Candace Cameron Bure reflected on her friendship with Bob Saget days after his death on Sunday, January 9.

"Oh, Bob. Why'd you have to leave us so soon?" the 45-year-old actress wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, January 11. "We are all family, but you were the glue. The sticky, messy, squishy, sweet, lovable glue."

Cameron Bure played Saget's oldest TV daughter, D.J. Tanner on Full House from 1987 to 1995. She later reprised her role on the Netflix revival, Fuller House, which ended in 2020 after five seasons. Saget, who portrayed Danny Tanner on both series, was by her side every step of the way.

"My childhood is wrapped up in you, my formative teenaged years and the rest of adulthood. You taught me to feel deeply at such a young age," the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries star continued. "You were never afraid or ashamed to share your emotions, to cry, to love, to laugh and say it out loud. We've always been so deeply connected since the day we met when I was 10 years old."

The California native explained that the late comedian — who was pronounced dead on Sunday in Orlando, Florida, at the age of 65 — was much more than a father figure to her over the past 35 years.

"[You were] one of my closest friends in life," Cameron Bure wrote, noting that Saget's death "hurts like nothing I've ever felt before."

The A Shoe Addict's Christmas actress detailed how much he meant to her, writing, "I love you, I love you, I love you. You knew that. I knew that. But I have to say it again."

Cameron Bure pointed out that the former America's Funniest Home Videos host was taken too soon.

"I want one more hug. I want one more text that says, 'Oh, btw, it's me Bob' after a long rant. I want one more laugh. I want to roll my eyes at you one more time," she continued. "I want you to tell me to watch something but then tell me maybe I shouldn't because of my faith."

The Hallmark Channel star recalled Saget being "so protective" over her during their friendship, saying that he "cared about everything and everybody."

To Cameron Bure, the Pennsylvania native was one of a kind and will always be a big part of her life.

"You were the best. You were … Bob. There will never be another like you," she concluded. "I wish you could see the outpouring of love you have. You've certainly left a beautiful legacy in kindness, compassion, loyalty, generosity, and love❤. I'm not saying goodbye because you'll never leave my heart. Even with this gigantic tear in it 💔."

At the time, the Orange County Sheriff's Office confirmed his passing, noting via social media that "detectives found no signs of foul play or drug use in this case."

The former child star tweeted her initial reaction to the heartbreaking news, writing, "I don't know what to say. I have no words. Bob was one of the best human beings I've ever known in my life. I loved him so much."

Saget is survived by his wife, Kelly Rizzo, whom he wed in October 2018. His legacy is also carried on by his three daughters, Aubrey, Lara and Jennifer, whom he shared with ex-wife Sherri Kramer.

Lisa Vanderpump: COVID-19 'Finally Got Me'

Posted: 11 Jan 2022 04:26 PM PST

The pandemic isn’t over. Just as it did in 2020 and 2021, Hollywood’s A-list continues to be affected by COVID-19 in 2022 — but they largely attribute their fast recoveries to vaccines.

In January, Late Night With Seth Meyers only returned from holiday break for one show before suddenly having to go on hiatus amid the omicron variant’s prevalence.

“The bad news is, I tested positive for COVID (thanks, 2022!) the good news is, I feel fine (thanks vaccines and booster!),” Seth Meyers wrote via Twitter on January 4. “We are canceling the rest of the shows this week, so tune in next Monday to see what cool location we will try and pass off as a studio!!!”

Meyers’ fellow NBC late night host Jimmy Fallon revealed a day prior that he’d recently recovered from COVID-19. The Saturday Night Live alum made it clear that he tested negative before returning to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on January 3.

“Hey guys, on the first day of our holiday break I tested positive for Covid,” he captioned a photo via Instagram of himself masked in a room marked “reserved for testing use.” The room was decorated with an iconic Diff’rent Strokes quote, which Fallon appreciated.

He continued, “I was vaccinated and boostered which made me lucky enough to only have mild symptoms. Thank you to the doctors and nurses who work so hard around the clock to get everyone vaxxed. Thank you to NBC for taking the testing protocols so seriously and doing a great job – and also thanks for putting me in the ‘What 'chu talkin' about Willis?’ isolation room when they told me the news.”

In the comments section, Fallon told a fan that he completely recovered, writing, “The positive came back on 12/18. Back at work today and feeling 100%!”

The NBC hosts both advocated for vaccination. As of January, the CDC recommended a booster shot for people over age 16 five months after completing the primary series. Meyers and Fallon each had a booster before testing positive.

Similarly, Whoopi Goldberg also had a breakthrough case amid the highly contagious variant’s spread. Her View cohost Joy Behar announced the news on January 3 and said the Sister Act star was expected to be fully recovered within a week.

“Why am I here instead of Whoopi? Well, Whoopi, unfortunately, tested positive over the break, but she’ll be back probably next week,” Behar explained. “Since she’s vaxxed and boosted, her symptoms have been very, very, mild. But we’re being super cautious here at The View.”

The daytime talk show opted to film remotely for the week in the midst of Goldberg’s positive test.

“They say there’s no place like home for the holidays and that’s exactly where we are this year,” Behar said. “Happy New Year from all of our living rooms. As you can see, we’re back in boxes and doing the show remotely — hopefully for just a week. I’m praying that it’s just a week, but you never know because this omicron thing is all over the place.”

See the stars who have tested positive for COVID-19 in 2022:

Savannah Guthrie
The Today anchor announced on January 10 that she was filming the show from home because she tested positive for COVID-19. “Here we go Hoda, we're trading places,” Guthrie said days after Kotb revealed her own coronavirus battle. “I’m working from home, you're back in the studio. You have a negative test for COVID, I just tested positive for COVID, so here we go.” Guthrie added that she had mild symptoms: "A little sniffles, not much more than that.” Stephen Lovekin/Shutterstock
Dean McDermott
Hours after Tori Spelling revealed her whole family was sick, the Chopped Canada host thought he would need a ventilator after a particularly tough bout. “This is the first place I’m going once I get over COVID," McDermott captioned a throwback Instagram photo at the ice rink. “I’ve got to be honest, this scared the s—t out of me. My breathing was so compromised, I thought I was going to be put on a ventilator. Slowly turning the corner to recovery. Be safe out there.” AFF-USA/Shutterstock
Ana Navarro
The View cohost tested positive for a breakthrough case on January 7, though was “feeling pretty so good so far,” Navarro said as she confirmed the news during the show. "I did what the CDC recommended — the minute I felt a little bit of a tickle in my throat, I assumed I had it and I've been isolating,” Navarro told her fellow hosts. ABC/Lou Rocco
Sadie Robertson
“Tbh the start to this year has been quite interesting,” the Duck Dynasty alum captioned a January 7 Instagram post. “It started off by me getting FLURONA (flu + covid) (yikes) so obviously I was so bummed to miss passion but I was so thankful that God gave me the strength to still preach my message to an empty room despite being so sick. My faith from that experience grew so much 🤯 His spirit is truly living within us!” In addition to her flurona diagnosis, Robertson found her home had a rat infestation, noting, “It’s disgusting🙃 and we are exhausted from getting over sickness and being out of our home.” Donn Jones/Invision/AP/Shutterstock
Tori Spelling
“I share a lot on social media but this is one thing I didn’t want to share,” the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum wrote via Instagram on January 7. “But, at this point, people are getting frustrated not getting responses personally and business-wise from me and wondering why I’m MIA so I finally decided to share. Our entire family has COVID. Yes, every single member got it. We all have varying degrees of symptoms. I was last to be symptomatic. We all were praying it was just a bad winter cold. But it wasn’t.” She continued: “Nothing is worse than wanting to care for your little ones but feeling so sick you can barely function yourself. I feel useless as a parent. Devastated. A mom is supposed to take care of their kiddos when sick.” Courtesy of Tori Spelling/Instagram
Gleb Savchenko
After the Dancing With the Stars professional was feeling “sick” amid rehearsals for the DWTS live tour, he confirmed his coronavirus diagnosis on January 7 via Instagram Story. He has since been isolating away from the rest of his costars. “I’m happy to say that I’m feeling fine and the rest of the cast is healthy,” the Russia native explained in his social media video. “I cannot wait to rejoin the tour in the next couple of days.” Courtesy of Gleb Savchenko/Instagram
James Corden
The Late Late Show with James Corden took a brief hiatus in early January after the host tested positive for COVID-19. “I’m fully vaccinated, boosted, and because of this, am fortunate enough to say I feel completely fine,” he wrote on January 6 via Instagram. “The show will be off the air for the next few days. Stay safe everyone. All my love, James x.” Art Streiber/CBS
Hoda Kotb
After being noticeably missing from the Today show on January 5, host Craig Melvin revealed on January 6 that she tested positive for COVID-19. “Thx for well wishes! Feeling good.. ,” the co-anchor tweeted at the time. “Cant wait to see you all when I am in the clear! Xo.” Kristina Bumphrey/StarPix/Shutterstock
John Mayer
The Dead & Company announced on January 5 that Mayer will not be at their Mexico shows as he has coronavirus. "Today, just prior to leaving for Mexico, per his physician, @JohnMayer tested positive for COVID-19 and will be unable to perform at the upcoming 'Playing in the Sand' event in Riviera Cancun January 7-10,” the band said in an Instagram statement. “In these unprecedented times fans should expect many rare and different tunes.” Evan Agostini/Invision/AP/Shutterstock
Aaron Tveit
“Happy New Year! Gutted to have been out the past two weeks,” the Broadway star wrote via his Instagram Stories on January 5, noting he was back in the theatre for Moulin Rogue The Musical. “But Omicron got me. Shout to @aaron_c_finley for holding it down. Stay safe. Get jabbed. Come see us at The Hirschfeld.” Andrew H. Walker/Shutterstock
Lupita Nyong’o
"I too have tested positive for COVID-19," the Black Panther actress tweeted on January 4. "I'm fully vaccinated and taking care in isolation, so I trust I will be well. Please do all you can to keep yourself and others protected from serious illness. #StayMaskedAndVaxxed." Stephen Lovekin/Shutterstock
