As the calendar turns to November, the list of teams still in contention for the College Football Playoff continues to shrink.

This weekend, that group of contenders will be down at least one more squad.

Coming off losses in two of its past three games, No. 18 Oklahoma will hit the road to take on No. 14 Tennessee on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee in a matchup of two-loss teams. The loser likely will be eliminated from a spot in the playoff.

Since starting 5-0 and rising as high as No. 6 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, the Sooners have dropped games to No. 8 Ole Miss and No. 19 Texas, both of which came shortly after quarterback John Mateer returned from hand surgery. Their schedule won't be getting any easier, either. Saturday's meeting with the Volunteers is Oklahoma's second in a string of four consecutive games against top-20 opponents.

Tennessee, meanwhile, is aiming to get to the 12-team playoff for the second consecutive season and likely will need to win out to make it there. Coach Josh Heupel's team has quality losses, with both of its defeats coming to teams currently ranked in the top five, but it has yet to knock off a ranked opponent. It continues to put up big numbers, with quarterback Joey Aguilar leading the FBS' No. 2 scoring offense, a unit that averages 45.6 points per game.

If you are or have been a Little League parent, you can relate to this story.

A young kid strikes the ball. It rises over an outfielder's head. He starts running from home plate.

But he is so fast – and so excited – he threatens to pass the other baserunners.

"No, no, go back, go back, go back!" parents implore.

"Why am I going back?" he thinks to himself. "I just hit a home run."

When did the boy, Curtis Pride, start dreaming about playing in the major leagues?

"After I hit a home run my first at-bat," he tells USA TODAY Sports.

It's a thought many of us have as youths, but for Pride, it seemed impossible. He would need to become the first deaf player to make it to the majors since Dick Sipek in 1945.

"It's a tricky business, being deaf in a hearing world," Pride writes in "I Felt the Cheers: The Remarkable Silent Life of Curtis Pride," his memoir that was released this year about his life and big league career that spanned 11 seasons. "I have never tried to portray myself as someone who can hear, nor would I ever try to hide the fact that I cannot. It is mere fact, and it brings neither pride nor shame. It's just who I am."

As Pride has found, often it's the self-imposed obstacles - or those imposed by others - that are harder to clear than the actual barriers in the way of your goal.

Players mocked him from Little League to the minors, sometimes right to his face. People overlooked him.

But he had the support of his parents, and he found the right group of friends, coaches and teammates to give him ground support. It's what every kid needs.

"Curtis's story of becoming Major League Baseball's first full season deaf player of the modern era is unique but it's also universal," Doug Ward, Pride's co-author, tells USA TODAY Sports. "Everyone has a dream, so everyone can relate to Curtis and appreciate the hurdles he overcame to make his dream come true. At book signing events, Curtis handwrites the inscription, 'Anything is possible.' I think that summarizes the widespread appeal of Curtis's singular story."

Pride, 56, played for 23 professional teams over 26 seasons. He's now a father and has been a coach of youth and college baseball players. We asked him how his experiences can give young athletes and parents perspective on their games:

As parents, and as coaches, our job is to bring out the best in kids, regardless of their skill level

John and Sallie Pride never made Curtis feel like a burden. Sallie, their son says, never even felt she was making a sacrifice.

"We have no time to feel sorry for ourselves or for Curt if he's going to have a decent life," John recalled his wife telling him, right after their son was born, for a Washington Post story in 1993. "We have to start reading and learn how to help him."

Like many of us, Pride's parents felt he needed to play sports in order to be a kid.

What are sports, but a place that can help us associate with others, and maybe even find our niche in life, at least in early life.

"We have a lost cause," Curtis Pride writes about how he was presented by the Wheaton, Maryland, Boys Club, to his first T-ball coach, Don Stein, in the mid-1970s. "A player with two strikes against him: He is deaf, and he is Black. His father is making a fuss, so somebody has got to take him. Will you do it?"

Curtis remembers his dad being worried, spending a lot of time with the coach, relaying to his son what the coach was saying to the team.

We all hope we meet someone like Stein, who not only makes you feel comfortable and welcome, but plays to your strengths.

Curtis could speak and read lips. Stein worked with John Pride to figure out how the players could communicate, especially in catching popups or fly balls.

"Anytime I called for the ball, it's my ball all the way, so that there's no misunderstanding," Curtis Pride told USA TODAY Sports in our video interview. "So if I don't say anything, if the guys wave me off, I know that it's (their) ball. I don't remember ever having a collision or anything like that."

Youth coaches, including myself at times in the past, tend to play the most polished kids a lot more than the ones who are slower to develop.

Over time, we realize our broader purpose. Be the coach who gives everyone a chance. You never know what you might find.

"It wasn't so much that Don made me a better player, which he did," Pride writes, "but it was more a case of him allowing me to believe I could be a good player. … Don was the first person outside of my family to open a major door for me and, in doing so, he began a butterfly effect that altered my life's course for the better."

If you work with someone's deficit - or failure - he or she can before a source of strength

About 30 years ago, I was beginning my career as a part-time sportswriter for The Washington Post when I came across a story angle about a juggernaut volleyball team at Gallaudet University.

Gallaudet is a school for deaf and hard of hearing students that competes athletically against schools that have students who hear. It's where Pride coached baseball after his playing career, and where he would tell his players that if they wanted others to view them differently, they needed to see themselves differently.

"I never viewed the deaf kids in my program any differently than the major leaguers I played alongside," Pride wrote.

Peg Worthington, who compiled a 615-305 record at the school, told me in 1995 she devised a plan where each player stuck to a specific area of the volleyball court. They gained comfort in performing through practice and repetition.

It's a similar message Braves manager Bobby Cox would one day impress upon his players, including Pride a few years later: Know your role, adapt to it, perfect it.

Although Worthington said sometimes her players got "burned" because they couldn't cover the entire court or hear when a teammate tipped a ball at the net, they brimmed with confidence.

"They never take their eye off the ball," Penny Fall, then the coach of Washington College, a regional school that played Gallaudet, told me. "I've considered putting earplugs on my kids to make them focus that well. I'm tired of being wiped up and down the court (by Gallaudet), but I'm also happy for them."

It's your job as a coach to find out what's inside every kid and unlock it.

Giving Pride the freedom to use his speed and chase down balls gave him confidence. His teammates, dismissive at first, accepted him as he practiced and showed them he could hit.

"I don't like (not) knowing my role," he told me in our interview. "The role can always progress as maybe you have a little bit more responsibility during the game, where you get better, and then, you start a game."

You have to fail in order to get better

Pride's parents let him get into basketball, gymnastics, track, wrestling and football. When he reached high school, he was the kid who changed from his baseball to soccer uniform as his father drove across Montgomery County, Maryland, and back.

"Make a point for kids at a young age to learn how to deal with failure," Curtis Pride says. "That's why my parents have always encouraged me to play different things, to try different things, even though failure was possible, but because you never know what you can do until you try."

Just last month, Phillies pitcher Orion Kerkering, with the National League Division Series on the line, struggled to field a two-out comebacker to him. He appeared to panic and quickly threw wildly home when he may have had a chance to extend the game and get the out at first base.

"We're not perfect, we're human beings," Pride says. "We all feel bad for him. But it's not his fault that the team lost. They had so many other opportunities to win the game. And they should never put that on him. Because of what he had to deal with at the moment, it's gonna make him stronger.

"I've seen a lot of parents trying to protect their kids but they're not helping them (when) they get older, when they do fail. But now, they've never had the experience of already having to deal with failure. So they become lost."

Pride was 23, and in his seventh minor league season, at Class AA Binghamton (New York). He saw his teammates make fun of him across the locker room, he felt the hurt of his first girlfriend broke up with him. He couldn't seem to hit.

He stuck out the season – as his father insisted – and returned to Maryland with the intention to quit. It was time, so it seemed, to pursue his degree in finance from William & Mary, which he earned congruently with his early minor league career with the Mets (another requirement of his father).

First he worked at his former high school as a teacher's aide who served kids with disabilities.

"They didn't know I played professional baseball until the teacher told them about my background," Pride says. "And these kids were shocked" 'How can you play professional baseball, you're deaf?'

"I was talking to the kids. We all have different disabilities, but that shouldn't stop us from pursuing our dreams and goals. We know what our capabilities are and we shouldn't allow other people to place limitations on us. After I had that conversation with my class, I went home, and I talked to my mom, and these kids totally inspired me. What kind of message would I be sending to them if I quit pursuing my goal, the dream? So I felt I owed it to them."

'We're never alone' in the pursuit of our goals

Steve Swisher, Pride's manager at Binghamton who had worked tirelessly with him in the batting cage, had told him that if he starts quitting now, it will become easy, and he'll quit other things in his life.

Pride learned to thrive with the help and advice of others. He credits his neighbor, Randy Hurowitz, who played goalie for him every day as Curtis took shot after shot against him, with helping him reach the U-16 national team.

Players on the basketball team at William & Mary, where Pride played point guard, would give him a nudge into a double switch on defense. He developed a sixth sense, he feels, fueled by the confidence of those who believed in him, to make up for his lack of hearing.

When he signed with the Montreal Expos in 1993, his manager in Class AA Harrisburg was Jim Tracy, who made him feel like his sole purpose in life was to make Pride a better person and player.

"We all go through struggles, but we can rely on other people to help us get through," Pride says. "We're never alone. It's just always about being positive."

Always remember to smile

When he returned to baseball, Pride met his future wife, Lisa, a reporter who interviewed him at spring training. Colten and Noelle, who are now college students, became his favorite players, as our kids do, as he watched him.

Getting married and having children were two of his goals on a list he began keeping as a kid.

Pride recommends writing down goals – big and small, team and individual – as he did, to help push you forward.

Even if you don't achieve all of them, they are a reminder to be relentless in your pursuit.

When he rapped a double to left center field for the Expos on Sept. 17, 1993, Pride was determined, in his words, to prove he was not just a charity case. As he was standing on second base, he could see more than 45,000 people standing and cheering. He thought they were cheering for the team, which was coming back to win.

They knew Pride was deaf and, as third base coach Jerry Manuel took it in, he realized they were doing everything they could to try to make him hear them.

As the Phillies changed pitchers, Manuel called his player over and told him it was for him. Pride tried to keep a straight face, wanting them to know he was no one-hit wonder, but tipped his cap, as his coach suggested.

Second-base umpire Gary Darling walked over. "Smile," he told Pride. "Smile!"

It was a good reminder for all of us, and our kids, when they're playing sports.

"I remember, at a young age, I always wanted to please the coach," Pride says. "But I lost focus on myself. … I'm not doing this for the coaches, I'm not doing this for my parents. I'm doing this for myself because I love the game."

NEW YORK/WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Americans shopping for 2026 Obamacare health insurance plans are facing a more than doubling of monthly premiums on average and are likely to postpone signing up in hopes of a last-minute reprieve, or walk away, health experts say.

COVID-19 pandemic-era subsidies, due to expire at year-end, are at the center of the month-long U.S. government shutdown, with the potential to affect election outcomes and increase the rate of U.S. uninsured.

The subsidies helped double Obamacare enrollment to 24 million since they were put in place in 2021.

Enrollment opens on Saturday for the plans created by President Barack Obama's signature 2010 Affordable Care Act. Enrollees on average will see premiums rise about 114%, with the impact varying among the 22 million people who receive subsidies, according to research firm KFF.

Austin Jeha, a 24-year-old medical billing professional from San Ramon, California, relies on insurance to help pay for specialty care for his ulcerative colitis. Jeha's new monthly premium is set to rise to $436 from $215.

Jeha regularly receives treatment from a specialist, handing over an $85 co-pay. "You're at a higher risk of colon cancer," he said, so doctors "want to check in to see if you're in remission or not."

Jeha has reached out to his representative in the U.S. Congress, Democrat Mark DeSaulnier, and is waiting to see if an agreement in Washington would cut his costs.

Large swaths of the U.S. government have been shut since October 1, leaving hundreds of thousands of federal workers without pay and disrupting a wide range of services, from financial oversight to medical research.

Democrats say any package that would reopen the government must also extend ACA subsidies. Republicans say they are open to addressing that issue, but insist Congress must first vote to restore government funding.

Residents in Florida, Texas and Georgia are among those who will be most affected. In these and seven other Republican-led states, Medicaid is limited to the poorest residents, leaving many low-income families to seek out ACA plans because of the subsidies.

Scott Darius, executive director of nonprofit Florida Voices for Health, said working-class residents and small business owners have come to rely on these plans at a time of persistent inflation.

"That's who will suffer with the expiration of these tax credits. It's people who are working really hard, sometimes working multiple jobs, just jobs that don't provide health coverage," Darius said in an interview.

When the subsidies sunset, those with incomes over 400% of the federal poverty level will no longer be eligible.

In every congressional district across Florida, enrollees over age 60 with incomes just above 400% of the federal poverty level — roughly $84,600 for a couple — will see 2026 average premiums at least four times more expensive, according to a KFF analysis of government data.

The Department of Health and Human Services declined to comment, pointing to a fact sheet that said enrollees this year will have access to, on average, plans with lower premiums after tax credits and more plan choices overall.

Dr. Mehmet Oz, who oversees the program, recently said the premium for the average person enrolled would rise about $13 to $50 monthly.

The likelihood that enrollment will be unaffected by the fight over subsidies - whether they are extended or not - is slim. Subsidized enrollees are expected to see an average premium increase to $1,904 a year from $888 in 2025, KFF said.

"Consumers are going to consume differently because of the various price points that they're being told," said Shawn Martin, CEO of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Four insurance industry experts told Reuters enrollment will fall even if there is an extension of the subsidies after enrollment begins.

"If somebody logs in during open enrollment and sees their premium payment doubling and then walks away and decides not to purchase their plan anymore, that damage has already been done," said Cynthia Cox, a vice president at KFF.

According to a Congressional Budget Office estimate, over 4 million Americans would become uninsured if Congress does not extend these credits.

Even before calculating subsidies, health insurance prices have risen, as insurers like CVS Health's Aetna have exited the ACA market. Departures and higher healthcare costs have contributed to price increases on average of 26%, KFF said.

Timothy McCann, a 42-year-old financial professional based in Elmwood Park, New Jersey, expects his monthly insurance premium to increase to $1,851 from $1,517, according to the Healthcare.gov website. McCann purchased the insurance to cover treatments for him and his wife, who both have autoimmune diseases, and kidney surgery for his three-year-old son.

"We need constant visits, so it's probably a net gain at the end of the day. But it's still a crazy amount of money to spend," said McCann, whose total out-of-pocket medical expenses reached $33,000 this year.

"Gold" is the word for coins in 2026, according to experts. The price of gold reached a record high of $3,833.37 per ounce on Sept. 29, 2025. Experts predict it could rise to $7,000 in 2026.

"I expect some major announcements before the end of the year that could help push gold to that level," said Dr. Michael Fuljenz, president of Universal Coin & Bullion in Beaumont, Texas. He suggested that both coin collectors and investors can take advantage of the expected surge by adding to their portfolios now.

Bullion typically delivers a better value than coins, but historic and modern gold coins also have potential to make people very rich next year, especially if you already have these coins or can find them selling for less than 20% above their gold value.

Fuljenz explained the calculations to determine if a coin is a good value. "Multiply the gold amount by the price of gold to get the value of the gold in the coin, then multiply that number by 1.2 to determine how much over the gold value you should pay," he said. "For example, a $20 denomination U.S. gold piece contains 0.9675 ounce of pure gold, so it has a gold value of $3,705 as of Sept. 29, 2025. A $10 Liberty would have half of that amount, and a $5 Liberty would be 25% of that amount."

Right now, you wouldn't want to pay more than $4,446 for a $20 Liberty coin, $2,223 for a $10 Liberty and $1111.50 for a $5 Liberty.

$20 'Double Eagle' Liberty Head

If you can find a Double Eagle Liberty Head for less than roughly $4,500, you'll want to grab it. Fuljenz said, "Many pre-1933 common-date gold coins are now being melted," including this one.

This makes these coins very valuable, since they're destined to become even more rare.

$20 Saint-Gaudens (1924-S)

The $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle features a unique design created by sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The coin was minted from 1907 to 1933, according to the American Gold Exchange. Certain years of these coins will be worth even more money, like the 1924-S, which only saw 2.9 million pieces initially struck, with many destroyed in the 1930s. One 1964-S Saint-Gaudens in Mint State 65 is listing for $100,000 at RareCoinWholesalers.com.

If you have one of these coins from another year, it could be worth more than you realize. "I am even seeing common date coins in grades up to gem uncirculated Mint State 64 being melted down," Fuljenz said. "This is unprecedented."

The numismatic scale rates uncirculated coins on a scale from MS60 to MS70, where 70 indicates a nearly perfect coin and MS60 means the coin has imperfections.

1906 San Francisco Mint $20 Liberty

"Another example, I believe, is a 1906 San Francisco Mint $20 Liberty in MS-63," Fuljenz shared.

This coin was designed by James Barton Longacre and contains 90% gold, according to PCGS.com. A coin with an MS66 rating sold at auction in 2014 for $111,625, giving an indication of its potential value today.

"I believe these coins will become more valuable in the future as many of the lower grades will have been destroyed and melted for their gold content," Fuljenz said.

1982 Small-Date Penny

Coins don't have to be made of gold to be worth a mint.

The 1982-D copper penny was supposed to be minted with primarily zinc, but errors at the Philadelphia and Denver Mints led to some coins being minted on new dies — designed for zinc — made mostly of copper. Only two of these pennies exist, and they've sold at auction for $10,800 and $18,800, according to JM Buillon. If you happen to find another in your change jar or piggy bank, consider yourself very lucky. The appearance of another small-date copper cent would likely put collectors into a bidding war.

2025 US Mint American Eagle Gold Bullion Coin (1 Oz.)

While many of the highest-value coins are dated from the 20th century, a coin doesn't have to be old to be valuable.

"I also recommend people buy my favorite bullion coin of any in the entire world, the American Gold Eagle," Fuljenz said. "With gold continuing to trend higher, I think you will do very well with those."

Kevin Nealon walked away from *Saturday Night Live* with an Emmy nomination, a record as the longest-tenured cast member, and a serious case of claustrophobia.

Nealon, whose nine-year record on the show has since been surpassed, claims his fear of enclosed spaces dates back to an *SNL *sketch that saw him impersonate late-night host Jay Leno. He detailed the incident to Ted Danson on the latest episode of his *Where Everybody Knows Your Name* podcast, explaining that it all began in the hair and makeup department.

"They needed to make a prosthetic chin for me," Nealon began, explaining that doing so required a plaster mold of his face. "I'd never had it done before, and they cover you with plastic, so it doesn't drip on you. And they cover up your ears, your mouth is closed, straws in the nose, and they start putting plaster all over you, and it starts to harden."

Nealon said he didn't expect to have a problem with the process — but once the plaster was on, his feelings changed.

"It starts to get warm," he recalled. "It's hardening and you're thinking, 'Oh my god, all that's open is my nostrils! If they close those up, I'll suffocate.' And I started to get panicky."

He continued, "I remember I'm about to pass out and I go, 'Take it off, take it off' and then the next thing I know — smelling salts. And I'm waking up."

Danson, who's been in the comedy business for his fair share of years, noted that he's had his own run-in with the plaster life mask. While his experience wasn't "as intense," he could relate to the sudden fear. "It is very scary," the *Cheers* star agreed. "And you think you can do it and it'll be alright but it's terrifying."

Despite passing out, Nealon said he ended up returning to the hair and makeup chair for round two. After all, he wasn't about to give up a shot to parody Jay Leno: "I wanted to get it done," he said simply. "And I almost passed out again."

He eventually made it through the mask process but soon noticed that his relationship to dark, enclosed spaces had changed. Two weeks later, the comedian was in a subway car in New York City when his train halted — and he immediately spiraled.

"I started getting that same feeling again and it snowballed from that," Nealon said. "I started getting it more and more, I became almost agoraphobic. I thought it was over for me."

The actor worried he would be unable to fly out for gigs and even found himself panicking over the thought of being stuck in traffic. But eventually, over the next few years, he worked through the feeling and came out the other side. "It doesn't bother me anymore," he shared.

But just a year after his own plaster pass out, he discovered that actor and two-time *SNL* host Jeff Daniels lived through an even scarier plaster experience.

"Here is the nightmare of all nightmares," Nealon began. "It's a Friday night and the headwriter comes up to me and goes, 'Did you hear what's happening with Jeff Daniels right now? They can't get the plaster mask off his face."

Daniels himself lamented the incident during a 2016 visit to Jimmy Fallon's* Tonight Show*, sharing that what was meant to be a 15-minute process ultimately lasted six hours because someone used the wrong material on his face.

"They used plaster, like you would put — oh, I don't know — on your wall," Daniels joked. The mixture was especially stuck to the hair from his eyebrows, eyelashes and three-day-old stubble, making its removal a long and painful process that involved Lorne Michaels calling in a plastic surgeon pal.

In his own telling of the tale, which he didn't witness firsthand, Nealon pointed out that it was a risky situation: "If [Daniels] panics and throws up, he'll drown, 'cause there's nowhere for it to come out," he said. Luckily, the surgeon was able to come in and slowly remove the plaster — after cutting Daniels's eyebrows, eyelashes, and beard, while administering novocaine to his face.

Nealon said when he ran into "red-faced" Daniels the next day, he pretended that he hadn't already heard the story.

Madison and Joe also revealed that they met for dinner a few weeks after leaving the show and ended up making out, though Madison said the encounter didn't bring her any closure.

She also admitted it was "very frustrating" to watch the season back, particularly when Joe made comments about her body. "In today's day and age, it's unacceptable to talk about somebody in that way," she said. Joe apologized for his remarks.

At the reunion, Nick responded to accusations that he "love-bombed" Annie and his other pod connection, Kait. He apologized to Kait, but she dismissed it as "performative" and said that, in the pods, it felt like Nick "went into ChatGPT and looked up pickup lines for how to get a girl to fall for you."

Annie stood up for her ex-fiancé, saying she believed Nick's intentions were "genuine." Looking back, though, she admitted it was pretty clear they were trying to force a relationship that wasn't meant to be.

After a tense exchange, Kacie ultimately apologized to Patrick and handed the engagement ring back to him (via Nick Lachey). But he returned it to her after she beat him in a friendly basketball game (with a little help from Los Angeles Clippers player Chris Paul).**

Boston Blue found a way to reunite Donnie Wahlberg and Marisa Ramirez on screen again as Danny and Baez's romance heats up — but they weren't the only couple who felt love in the air.

During the Friday, October 31, episode of the Blue Bloods spinoff, Danny (Wahlberg) took a selfie in Boston that he sent to Baez (Ramirez) while suggesting their next date. Blue Bloods fans then got a fun Easter egg when Danny's partner, Lena (Sonequa Martin-Green), picked up a photo frame on his desk that showed him with Baez and sister Erin (Bridget Moynahan).

But Danny wasn't the only one thinking about love after Lena crossed paths with former partner Detective Brian Rodgers (Ryan Broussard). Lena acknowledged she had feelings for Brian, who clearly felt the same way. Brian tried to talk to Lena about going on a date now that they weren't working together, but she blew him off until Danny offered her some advice.

"I did refuse to date my partner even though there were obviously feelings there. After my wife died, I was afraid to get hurt again and I didn't want to regret it," Danny told Lena. "A very wise man gave me some very sage advice. And I don't regret it."

Lena listened to Danny, who watched her find love before his girlfriend arrived at the office to take him on a date. Baez asked Danny about Lena's love life, and they were all smiles as they headed out on the town.

The cameo left the door open for more appearances from Ramirez, 48, considering Baez still has to meet Lena. But Blue Bloods fans were in for a fun treat with the show referencing Danny's past love life in New York City, which was featured on CBS' Blue Bloods.

When the audience last saw Danny in the 2024 series finale, he received some advice from his grandfather Henry (Len Cariou), specifically about his feelings for Baez.

"I always told you not to bring the job home," Henry told Danny in the 2024 series finale, adding that the "problem now is you have no one not to bring it home to." Henry told Danny to promise he'd "find that someone" after his case.

Danny was then seen asking Baez out on a date, saying, "You wanna get a pizza?"

Boston Blue, which premiered earlier this month, began with Danny visiting Boston after his son ended up in a coma. Before Danny officially moved to Massachusetts, a scene showing his life in New York featured a cameo from Ramirez.

"You should always worry about long-distance," Ramirez exclusively told Us Weekly ahead of her Boston Blue cameo, referring to Baez and Danny's future. "You never know what's gonna happen. Always worry."

Ramirez teased that Baez and daughter Elena "could move to Boston, no problem" if there was interest.

"To me, it's not that fun to watch such a happy couple. It's fun when there's ups and downs and arguments and kind of getting back together," she explained. "It's more fun to watch kind of turmoil in relationships, because it makes it that much sweeter when it works out and they get together."

According to Ramirez, fans can expect "a little bit of push and pull and back and forth until something does happen" to make them find a better solution.

"I would hope she's gonna be in more than just one scene out of this whole season, right?" she teased. "I just think that you're honestly just gonna have to watch. But still be worried about the long-distance thing working out or not working out."

Boston Blue airs on CBS Fridays at 10 p.m. ET.

Some *Saturday Night Live* sketches bomb and others become Hall of Famers. But according to Amy Poehler, only one was so bad that it literally put its host to sleep.

While reuniting with fellow *SNL* alum Kate McKinnon, Poehler delved into the subject of sketches that just don't work — and without naming names, had a pretty embarrassing story to pull from.

"Did you ever go on the server and watch sketches that bombed?" she asked McKinnon on Tuesday's episode of her *Good Hang* podcast. "Do you kind of like it when sketches bomb a little bit? We used to go and watch our sketches from dress [rehearsal] that bombed and just watch it together, process it together. And it was just, like, such a nice feeling. Basically, just a reminder that everybody bombs, basically."

McKinnon, already laughing at the memory of this, nodded. "There were a few hits that we would watch over and over again," she admitted. "There was one rehearsal where a person — I won't say who — simply stopped doing the sketch and sat down on the stage. That was a fun watch."

This sparked a memory for Poehler, who could relate. "We had a host, I won't say who, who just halfway through just kinda fell asleep a little bit," she said with a smile. "This was during dress, and it was like, 'Okay, I guess his character's asleep now.'"

Earlier this month, the *SNL* alum celebrated a full-circle moment, hosting the show for the first time in over a decade on the very evening that marked *SNL*'s 50th anniversary. Fun as it was, Poehler told McKinnon that part of her still wanted to be participating as a cast member.

"I kept being like, 'What are you guys doing over there?' Like, I kept wanting to be over there," she recalled.

Both Poehler and McKinnon had standout runs on *SNL*, with Poehler starring on the show from 2001 to 2008, while McKinnon joined in 2012 and stuck around until 2022. Though their tenures as cast members did not overlap, they have shared the stage in studio 8H several times. Poehler hosted the show in 2015 and the alums both participated in the show's 50th anniversary special. Their conversation saw Poehler praise McKinnon for her run on the show, pointing out that she quickly found her place in the fabric of *SNL*.

"There are people on that show that I felt were naturals. Now whether or not they felt natural is their own personal story," Poehler said. "But you, Maya Rudolph, Dana Carvey, Will Ferrell — people who just kind of came onto the show, fit right in and became, like, instant captains. I always felt that from you, just this calm confidence when you were performing. And it's interesting to know that inside you were not feeling that way."

Indeed, McKinnon confirmed that "there were plenty of desperate failures that haunt me even now," but added that her time on *SNL* remains a dream come true.

"I feel like I had one dream. It was *SNL*," McKinnon shared. "Did it. Done. Loved it. Awesome."
