SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle Mariners outfielder Victor Robles has been activated from 60-day injured list, and he is eligible to play while he appeals a 10-game suspension.

The 28-year-old Robles dislocated his left shoulder while making a leaping catch during a 5-4 loss at San Francisco on April 6. He is in the starting lineup in right field for Seattle's game against the Athletics on Saturday night.

To make room for Robles on the active roster, Seattle designated utilityman Dylan Moore for assignment. Moore is batting .193 with nine homers, 19 RBIs and 12 steals in 88 games this season.

Moore, 33, was Seattle's longest tenured player, having been with the organization since 2019.

Robles was on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma when he was suspended and fined by Major League Baseball for his conduct in the third inning of a game against Las Vegas last weekend.

Robles was nearly hit by an inside pitch from Las Vegas' Joey Estes in the third inning. After taking a few steps behind the plate, Robles picked up his bat and threw it in Estes' direction. He was promptly ejected by home plate umpire Joe McCarthy.

Robles had been hit by a pitch three times in his previous four games with Tacoma, including once previously by Estes. He took some steps toward the mound while yelling at the pitcher, but he was held back by McCarthy and his Tacoma teammates.

Robles issued an apology following the incident.

"I want to take a moment to sincerely apologize for my recent reaction on the field," he wrote in an Instagram story. "I let my frustration get the best of me, and I understand how that may have affected not just the game, but the energy and respect we all work so hard to maintain.

"Coming off a long rehab and being away from the game for most of the season has been physically and mentally challenging. Adding to that, the recent passing of my mother has been incredibly hard, and I've been doing my best to hold it together. That's not an excuse, but some context I feel you deserve to understand where I'm coming from."

Prior to his injury, Robles was batting .273 with three RBIs and three stolen bases in 10 games with Seattle.

Ron Turcotte, the jockey who rode Secretariat to a Triple Crown in 1973 and earned his place in the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame, died on Aug. 22 at age 84

A longtime representative for the jockey announced the news of his death, decades after Turcotte etched his name into history books and Belmont Stakes' record books

"The world may remember Ron as the famous jockey of Secretariat, but to us he was a wonderful husband, a loving father, grandfather and a great horseman," his family said

Ron Turcotte, the legendary jockey who was inducted into the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame in 1979 for his achievements with Secretariat, has died. He was 84.

Turcotte's family announced his death on Friday, Aug. 22, via his longtime representative Leonard Lusky. In a statement shared via Secretariat.com and by the , Lusky called Turcotte "a great jockey and an inspiration to so many, both within and outside the racing world," and remembered him for his "abundance of faith, courage and kindness that was the true measure of his greatness."

Turcotte famously rode Secretariat to the Triple Crown in 1973, sweeping the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes to end a 25-year drought for the feat. It marked the first Triple Crown victory since Citation's run in 1948.

"The world may remember Ron as the famous jockey of Secretariat, but to us he was a wonderful husband, a loving father, grandfather and a great horseman," the Turcotte family said in a statement, shared by Secretariat.com.

Turcotte, a former lumberjack who began his racing career in 1961, won 3,023 races over the course of nearly two decades before his career ended in 1978 at the age of 36. Perhaps his most notable race was when he rode Secretariat to a still-record time of 2:24 in Belmont in 1972, winning by the largest margin of victory in the race's history at 31 lengths.

"When it came to running, he could fly," Turcotte previously told AP of the famed horse, who died in 1989 after being euthanized. "He was everything. Those memories never leave you."

In July 1978, the jockey's career came to an end at Belmont Park when he fell from a horse and sustained injuries that made him paraplegic, per Secretariat.com. In the years that followed, Turcotte earned his place in six different sporting halls of fame, including the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame in 1979 and Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 1980.

Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund Chairman William Punk Jr. remembered Turcotte as one of the nonprofit organization's "greatest champions and ambassadors."

Seahawks WR Jake Bobo, DB Tyler Hall injured after colliding on punt return

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jake Bobo and defensive back Tyler Hall were both injured after colliding in the team's Week 3 preseason game against the Green Bay Packers.

The injuries occurred late in the second quarter when Bobo was attempting to return a punt. He came running forward on a short punt in an effort to make a fair catch.

Bobo crashed into Hall, who was being blocked by a Packers defender, which caused Bobo to muff the punt.

Both Bobo and Hall remained down after the play, and Seahawks players immediately motioned to the Seahawks bench for medical assistance.

Bobo was able to get up after receiving treatment on the field and walked into the locker room under his own power. Hall was eventually carted off after being helped into the blue medical tent on the Seahawks sideline.

The Seahawks did not immediately provide an update on Bobo or Hall's injuries.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Texas Rangers placed second baseman Marcus Semien on the 10-day injured list Saturday for just the second time in his 13-year career with a left foot contusion and activated right fielder Adolis García.

Semien fouled a pitch off the foot in the first inning of a 6-4 loss in Kansas City on Thursday, and the Rangers say they still aren't sure the extent of the damage. The three-time All-Star is in a walking boot.

García was activated the first day he was eligible after being out with a left ankle sprain. He took live batting practice Friday before Texas' 4-3 victory over Cleveland in the opener of a three-game series. García was in the lineup Saturday.

Semien's only other trip to the injured list came with the Athletics early in the 2017 season, when he missed almost three months with a right wrist injury. Before the foot injury, Semien had missed just six of the Rangers' 615 games since joining them before the 2022 season on a $175 million, seven-year contract.

"He's going to be grouchy, I can tell you that," manager Bruce Bochy said. "I think he looks at himself as, 'I need to be out there every day.' For him to say it's probably going to be awhile, you know there's something going on there."

Semien was injured in the same game that Evan Carter fractured his right wrist when he was hit by a pitch. Carter went on the 10-day IL on Friday, but could be out for the season.

The 34-year-old Semien is hitting .230 with 15 homers, 62 RBIs and a team-leading 62 runs. He leads Texas in games (609), hits (610), triples (12), walks (239), runs (386) and total bases (1027) since joining the club.

While most teams treated the preseason finale like an unwanted homework assignment they wanted to finish as quickly as possible, the New Orleans Saints still had important unsettled business.

The Saints are the last team to name a starting quarterback for the season opener. Rookie Tyler Shough came off the bench in the first preseason game and outplayed Spencer Rattler, then in the second game Shough started but Rattler played better through the second half. Rattler got the start in the preseason finale on Saturday, which seemed to be an indication that he led the race as the Saints wrapped up the preseason.

If Rattler did lead that race before Saturday, Shough probably didn't do enough to catch him in the preseason finale. He mostly struggled in a 28-19 loss against the Denver Broncos, though he finished his day with a good drive that ended in a touchdown.

Rattler had to face the Broncos' starting defense, which is one of the best in the NFL. The Saints got two field goals in his three drives. Rattler, who had a very good second half in the Saints' second preseason game with 199 passing yards, was a modest 5 of 8 for 43 yards against Denver. Shough came in with 6:30 left in the second quarter.

Shough started slow, struggling to make many plays and he also lost a fumble deep in Saints territory as he was sacked. That led to a Broncos touchdown. Shough did have a solid drive after the strip-sack, completing his first six passes before the seventh one was dropped. That drop would have been a touchdown. But the Saints picked up a first down after that and then Shough ran for an 11-yard touchdown. That drive saved his day from being much worse. Shough finished 12 of 20 for 102 yards, with most of his positive numbers coming on that final drive. Jake Haener entered the game after that.

Tyler Shough keeps it and runs it in untouched ‼️Stream on @NFLPluspic.twitter.com/sVvG3MhrwV

— NFL (@NFL) August 23, 2025

If Shough isn't the starter to begin the season, it would be a little disappointing. Rattler was a fifth-round pick and struggled as a rookie, posting a 70.4 passer rating. He doesn't look like the Saints' starter of the future, which is a reason the team drafted Shough in the second round. Shough is old for a rookie. He'll turn 26 years old in September and played in parts of seven different college seasons. He's not a long-term project. But he couldn't clearly beat out Rattler in the preseason, and seemingly will begin the regular season as Rattler's backup.

The Saints still have to make that decision though. Saints coach Kellen Moore told reporters after the game the announcement will come next week. Neither quarterback made the decision easy on Moore.

Spotlight team: Denver Broncos

The Broncos were one of the few teams to use starters in the preseason finale. And one thing that is clear is Bo Nix will feed Courtland Sutton plenty this season.

Sutton had four catches for 83 yards in a little more than a quarter of work. On one play Nix rolled left after a play-action fake and made a nice throw downfield to an open Sutton for a 43-yard gain. Nix and Sutton finished their preseasons by connecting for a touchdown.

Bo Nix to Courtland Sutton again! This time for 6️⃣Stream on @NFLPluspic.twitter.com/kikmF85gmL

— NFL (@NFL) August 23, 2025

The Broncos starters didn't play great in the preseason opener, didn't play at all in the second game, so it was good for the first team to have a positive outing on Saturday. Nix was 10 of 14 for 114 yards. The Broncos have displayed plenty of quality depth during a 3-0 preseason and look like a team that could make it back to the playoffs after breaking their postseason drought last season.

Standout player: Browns QB Dillon Gabriel

Dillon Gabriel has been in a weird spot since late April. He was drafted in the third round by the Cleveland Browns, and then has been completely overshadowed since the Browns drafted Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round.

Sanders did play well in the preseason opener when Gabriel was out due to a hamstring injury. Then Gabriel had two productive games to end the preseason, presumably solidifying himself well ahead of Sanders on the depth chart. Sanders didn't help himself with a rough outing on Saturday. The way Gabriel has played in the preseason, there should be a question if he begins the regular season as Joe Flacco's primary backup. Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said after the game he wasn't ready to make a final decision on who would back up Flacco.

As Gabriel did in the Browns' second preseason game, he made quick decisions and usually delivered accurate passes. He was 12 of 19 for 129 yards in less than a quarter, coming in after Joe Flacco got three series and before Sanders took over to begin the second half. Gabriel started the Browns' second preseason game and was 13 of 18 for 143 yards in that contest, though he did have an interception returned for a touchdown.

NFL fans have been talking about Sanders all year, giving him the type of attention a fifth-round rookie has never received before. But the Browns have every reason to be excited about what they saw out of their other rookie quarterback this preseason.

Other games

Baltimore Ravens 30, Washington Commanders 3: Neither team played starters, meaning Lamar Jackson didn't play at all in the preseason, which is typical for him. It was notable that among the Commanders' inactives was rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt. The team has treated Croskey-Merritt as a starter the past couple weeks, and opened up a big role for him by trading Brian Robinson Jr. to the 49ers.

Houston Texans 26, Detroit Lions 7: The Lions have been giving linebacker Grant Stuard a chance to return kickoffs in the preseason and he has been pretty good at it. He had a 28-yard average on four kickoff returns this preseason going into Saturday's game, then had a 44-yard return to start the game against the Texans.

Grant Stuard starts it off with a 44-yard return!#HOUvsDET | 📺 Lions TV Network pic.twitter.com/SnF014nDrz

— Detroit Lions (@Lions) August 23, 2025

It's unconventional — Stuard is a good special teams player but has never returned a kick in the regular season through his first four NFL seasons — but the Lions are often willing to experiment.

Indianapolis Colts 41, Cincinnati Bengals 14: Neither team played starters. Perhaps that's a reason the Colts decided on Daniel Jones as their starting quarterback earlier in the week, ending the competition. With that settled, third-stringer Riley Leonard got the start at quarterback for Indianapolis. Leonard had 189 yards and a touchdown.

Cleveland Browns 19, Los Angeles Rams 17: The Browns officially announced Joe Flacco as their starting quarterback earlier this week, and gave him 17 snaps before the season begins. Flacco hadn't played in the first two preseason games. Flacco was 9 of 10 for 71 yards and a touchdown. Dillon Gabriel followed Flacco in the game. Kenny Pickett, who dealt with a hamstring injury through most of training camp, did not play at all. Cleveland plans to keep four quarterbacks on the active roster according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. The Rams, as always, didn't use any starters this preseason.

Seattle Seahawks at Green Bay Packers: The Packers used a lot of starters, though quarterback Jordan Love sat as he recovers from thumb surgery that's not expected to keep him out of the regular-season opener. For the Seahawks, rookie quarterback Jalen Milroe got the start while Sam Darnold and other starters sat out. Milroe lost a fumble on two of Seattle's first three possessions. The Seahawks didn't score in the first half with Milroe completing 7-of-12 passes for 65 yards.

Final thoughts

• Through the preseason, Broncos rookie running back RJ Harvey has worked extensively with the starters. On Saturday he started again and got three carries, though he gained only 4 yards. In this game, JK Dobbins didn't play at all. That could have been due to Dobbins' long injury history and trying to preserve him for the regular season.

• The Texans have some running back questions with Joe Mixon dealing with a foot injury. Nick Chubb didn't play Saturday but Dameon Pierce and rookie Woody Marks did. Pierce had 17 yards on seven carries and Marks had 19 yards on six carries including a touchdown. Marks also caught three passes for 20 yards. The Texans might mix and match backs until Mixon is ready.

Woody Marks scampers into the end zone 😤Stream on @NFLPluspic.twitter.com/82JpwHDKFb

— NFL (@NFL) August 23, 2025

• Browns undrafted rookie receiver Gage Larvadain made plays throughout the preseason. He was in the game early, as Cleveland used its starters, and when the second team was in he scored a 3-yard touchdown. It would seem that he has done enough to make the roster.

• Packers first-round pick Matthew Golden might have a big impact right away. He made a fantastic 39-yard catch against the Seahawks, fighting through coverage to make the downfield catch.

Orlando Pride leading scorer Barbra Banda will miss the rest of the National Women's Soccer League season with a hip injury.

The Pride announced on Saturday that Banda sustained a "full thickness avulsion of her right adductor longus tendon," meaning that the tendon had fully separated from the bone.

Banda, a Zambia international, was injured during Pride's match against the Kansas City Current on Aug. 16. She had eight goals this season.

Banda was named the most valuable player in the NWSL championship game last year, scoring the lone goal in the Pride's victory over the Washington Spirit. She had 17 goals last season.

"Barbra has been instrumental to our success and losing a player of her caliber is heartbreaking for the entire organization," said Orlando's vice president of soccer operations and sporting director Haley Carter in a statement. "We know she will approach her rehabilitation with the same determination and professionalism she brings to everything she does."

A Ballon d'Or nominee, Banda has played for Zambia's national team since 2016. She had hat tricks in the Tokyo Olympics and last year's Paris Games. In 2024, she was named the African women's player of the year and the BBC's women's footballer of the year.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Kaulig Racing will be Ram's anchor partner when the automaker makes its return to NASCAR in 2026.

Team owner Matt Kaulig said Saturday at a Daytona Beach Ram dealership that the team will field five entries in the Truck Series. No drivers were announced for those seats.

Kaulig will be the only team to field Ram entries. The Truck teams will be based out of Kaulig race shop in Welcome, North Carolina.

"This partnership represents far more than a new chapter in Kaulig Racing's history. It's a union of shared values," Kaulig said. "Over the past decade, our team has built a legacy rooted in performance, integrity and giving back to the community. To now join forces as the anchor team for Ram's return to NASCAR is both an honor and a responsibility. Together, we're ready to set a new standard on race day and in the impact we make off the track."

Next season will be Ram's return to the Truck Series, where the manufacturer last raced in 2012.

"We needed a partner that truly aligns with the Ram brand and embraces our unconventional approach to NASCAR," Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis said in a statement. "With Kaulig Racing, we found the perfect synergy to drive our 'Last Tenth' culture forward."

Kaulig Racing will continue to field Chevrolets in the Xfinity and Cup Series while fielding Rams in the Truck Series. Kaulig has two full-time entries in Cup and three full-time entries in the Xfinity Series.

The Ram partnership will be the first time Kaulig Racing has competed in the Truck Series. Kaulig began his NASCAR ownership in 2016 in the Xfinity Series before expanding to Cup in 2021.

Should you draft De'Von Achane in fantasy? Injury update, outlook for Dolphins RB

Running backs might've fallen out of favor in the modern NFL, but it still remains a premium position in fantasy football.

Finding the roster combination for your imaginary backfield could just be the thing that results in a trophy at season's end. While the biggest, shiniest names come with all the fanfare, it's also important to manage risk in a draft setting.

De'Von Achane profiles as one of those risky picks in 2025 – someone that can either make-or-break your season.

He finished as RB5 in PPR formats a year ago, making the speedy Miami Dolphins running back a top selection again this year. However, Achane is battling a calf injury as the preseason comes to a close – an injury that will make fantasy managers squirm as Week 1 nears.

Calf issues have become an especially close relative to the Achilles injury in recent years, only furthering the concern. Head coach Mike McDaniel doesn't seem to be worried about Achane going forward, but should you be?

Here's a look at the fantasy outlook for the Dolphins running back as well as whether you should take the plunge and draft him.

Should you draft De'Von Achane in fantasy?

Drafting Achane is an exercise in risk and your tolerance for it.

He is one of the best running backs in the league from a fantasy perspective. Achane plays in a RB-friendly offense and now doesn't have a lot of competition for work in the backfield after Alexander Mattison's season-ending neck injury.

Jaylen Wright struggled in the preseason, leaving the rookie, Ollie Gordon II, as the other contender for snaps in the backfield.

Fortunately for fantasy managers, Gordon is a complementary piece that is more of a tough runner as opposed to Achane's finesse style that excels in the passing attack.

With no real competition for snaps, Achane has a clear path to another top fantasy finish – provided he stays healthy.

However, the soft tissue injury complicates things. In the 2024 season, Christian McCaffrey's calf injury became a lingering issue that derailed his year.

Couple that with a Dolphins team that doesn't figure to be good and there is some concern. Remember, you're also drafting the team and it's offensive line.

Achane might be immune to some of those issues though, considering his presence as a weapon in the passing game.

Verdict: Fantasy football isn't for the faint of heart and being conservative doesn't do you any favors. Capitalize on your leaguemates' fear and snag Achane as he slips later into the second round. Just be sure to pick up Gordon later on.

No. 22 Iowa State stuffed No. 17 Kansas State on multiple fourth-down attempts and converted a massive one itself on the way to a 24-21 win to kick off the 2025 college football season.

The Cyclones sealed the game with a huge fourth-down conversion from QB Rocco Becht to RB Carson Hansen with a little more than 2 minutes left. Instead of kicking a field goal from the K-State 17-yard line to potentially go up 27-21 with plenty of time for Kansas State to get a touchdown, Iowa State and coach Matt Campbell went for it on fourth-and-3.

Hansen snuck out open into the left flat and nearly scored a touchdown as his right forearm hit the turf just before the ball got across the line.

Becht said after the game that he was given two play calls to run for the fourth down and had the ability to choose which one he liked better.

"We've worked on it in practice and it's been working for us, and I felt more confident in it and had trust in my guys," Becht told ESPN.

With Kansas State out of timeouts, Iowa State was able to kneel out the clock at the goal line to secure the win. Hanson's forearm hitting the ground just before he got into the end zone was massive for bettors who had wagered on the game's total.

The over/under was 50.5 points for most of the week and over 80% of the money at BetMGM was on the over.

The Cyclones took a 10-point lead shortly after Kansas State failed on fourth down for the third time in the game. With Iowa State up 17-14 and 8:19 remaining, Kansas State went for it on fourth-and-1 from its own 30. And QB Avery Johnson got stopped short of the sticks.

Four plays later, Becht scored on a 7-yard TD run. But Kansas State quickly responded with a 65-yard TD pass to Jerand Bradley on the first play of its next possession to cut the lead back to three.

Kansas State was just 1-of-4 on fourth downs throughout the game. RB Joe Jackson got stuffed with a yard to go in the first half inside Iowa State's 10-yard line and the Wildcats also failed on a fourth-and-9 in the second half.

The two teams combined for 24 points in the fourth quarter after Iowa State led 14-7 at the end of the third quarter. The eventful final quarter was preceded by an entertainingly ugly first half.

Each team fumbled twice in the first two quarters. Iowa State fumbled at the K-State 1-yard line after the Wildcats muffed a punt early in the first quarter.

Starting RB Dylan Edwards dropped that punt and was injured on the play. He didn't return to the game as he watched from the sideline without his helmet.

Becht finished 14-of-28 passing for 183 yards and two TDs as Iowa State finally found open space in the run game in the second half. Hansen finished with 16 carries for 71 yards.

Johnson was 21-of-30 passing for 273 yards and two TDs, though he had a couple of passes he'd like to have back — especially on the fourth-down attempt earlier in the second half when he threw behind his receiver. In Edwards' absence, Jackson led the team with 12 carries for 51 yards.

Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler will miss the remainder of the season after being diagnosed with venous thoracic outlet syndrome, the team announced Saturday.

Wheeler had a successful right upper extremity blood clot removed on Aug. 18, and during the evaluation and second opinions, it was recommended that he undergo surgery, which will take place at a later date.

According to the Mayo Clinic, venous thoracic outlet syndrome is a group of conditions in which there's pressure on blood vessels or nerves in the area between the neck and shoulder, which can cause numbness in the fingers.

The team said that the recovery from the injury will likely take six to eight months.

Wheeler, a three-time All-Star, was placed on the injured list earlier in the week and last took the mound last Friday, throwing 97 pitches against the Washington Nationals.

The 35-year-old Wheeler was having an outstanding season for the first-place Phillies, going 10-5 with a 2.71 ERA in 24 starts over 149 2/3 innings with 195 strikeouts.

Philadelphia Phillies ace right-hander Zack Wheeler was diagnosed with venous thoracic outlet syndrome and has been recommended to undergo season-ending decompression surgery in the coming weeks, the team announced Saturday.

The timeline for recovery following that surgery is six-to-eight months.

Per the Mayo Clinic, venous thoracic outlet syndrome occurs when one or more of the veins under the collarbone are compressed and damaged. This can result in blood clots.

With Wheeler sidelined, the National League East-leading Phillies will rely on left-handers Cristopher Sanchez, Jesus Luzardo and Ranger Suarez along with right-handers Aaron Nola and Taijuan Walker in their starting rotation.

Wheeler, 35, underwent the initial surgery to remove a blood clot in his right upper extremity on Monday.

He was placed on the 15-day injured list last Saturday due to a blood clot located near his right shoulder. He previously missed another start and was subtracted from the rotation one day after he allowed two runs on four hits over five innings in Friday's 6-2 win over the Washington Nationals.

Wheeler was an All-Star each of the past two seasons. In six seasons with the Phillies, the right-hander is 69-37 with a 2.91 ERA and 1,094 strikeouts to 220 walks in 979 innings.

In 24 starts this season, he is 10-5 with a 2.71 ERA and a National League-leading 195 strikeouts.

Before arriving in Philadelphia, Wheeler spent five seasons with the New York Mets.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Derrick Harmon knew his first preseason in the NFL was over the moment the Pittsburgh Steelers rookie defensive tackle felt his right knee bend awkwardly underneath him early in the second quarter against Carolina.

As he was carted off the field Thursday night, the 21st overall pick in the draft feared his regular season might be in danger, too.

Turns out it's not.

After some anxious moments that left the 22-year-old near tears, an MRI revealed that Harmon is dealing with a sprain that coach Mike Tomlin characterized as "week to week." Tomlin declined to speculate on whether the team will place Harmon on injured reserve, saying the club wasn't having those discussions yet.

That answer would indicate there's a chance Harmon, who played collegiately at Michigan State and Oregon, could return sometime in September.

"I thought it was serious, but it wasn't that serious," Harmon said Saturday. "But (it;s) still something I've got to be in the training room to get rehab on. And that's what I'm going to focus on right now, just attack the rehab to get back on the field."

Harmon said he initially tweaked the right knee on the previous play, a 1-yard run by Carolina's Raheem Blackshear. On the following snap, he shrugged off an initial block and was engaged with Panthers right tackle Branden Walton when his right foot briefly appeared to get caught, twisting his knee.

He feared the worst but was in a decidedly better mood a short time later when he made his way from the locker room to the Pittsburgh sideline.

"Once I got next to my teammates, they cheered me up," Harmon said. "They told me to get out my head and that's why I was laughing like that (later). It just put me in good spirits (with) them telling me, 'Man, you're going to be OK.'"

Harmon has been impressive during his first training camp. He collected a sack in a Week 2 preseason victory over Tampa Bay and figured to be in position to make his first NFL start when Pittsburgh opens the season against the New York Jets on Sept. 7.

"It's definitely frustrating man, the last preseason game," Harmon said. "And (I was) really excited to get out there in a regular season and compete at a high level. It sucks, but it's part of the game we play."

Tomlin declined to get into specifics on who might fill in while Harmon is out. Veteran Isaiahh Loudermilk and rookie Yahya Black figure to be the first options. Black picked up a sack early in the third quarter. The 6-foot-6, 335-pound Black celebrated by rubbing his stomach, which brought laughter from the sideline, Harmon included.

"That's a big belly," Harmon said with a smile. "Both of the rookie (defensive tackles) got sacks in back-to-back games, so that's big."

Tomlin described Black as "well-conditioned for a guy his size, it's a great place to start. He's a high-energy guy. He's a good communicator."

Several other Steelers players are dealing with injuries as Tuesday's cutdown day nears. Tight end Jonnu Smith, wide receiver Calvin Austin III, safety Juan Thornhill and cornerback Cory Trice are working their way back.

"It's a really good time (to have them nearing a return)," Tomlin said. "The sand is running through the hourglass."

WESTFIELD, Ind. (AP) — Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton was back on the basketball court and back on his feet Saturday.

No, he wasn't running or shooting — it's far too early for that just two months into his Achilles tendon rehab, an increasingly common recovery in the NBA. But it was progress.

And being at the Indiana Pacers Athletic Center in suburban Indianapolis, surrounded by 300-plus eager youth basketball campers, brought back Haliburton's million-dollar smile, too.

"I'm walking in my boot, getting closer to walking full time in my shoe, so that's exciting," he said. "Every couple of weeks, it's kind of a new benchmark, a new achievement. So it's the small wins right now. There are good days, bad days, so every day is kind of Groundhog Day. I'm just trying to get well."

Saturday was a good day. He had made enough progress to pose for pictures, stand for interviews, and walk, in a protective boot, around the facility.

None of it would have been possible back in late June when this event was initially scheduled. Those plans changed the moment Haliburton's strained right calf quivered during the first quarter of Game 7 of the NBA Finals. Haliburton immediately crashed to the floor, leaving teammates, coaches and fans in disbelief.

He needed help to leave the court and watched the rest of the game from the locker room with his father, John. The Pacers came up short that night, and Haliburton left the arena on crutches, knowing the likely diagnosis — surgery that would cost him all of next season.

The silver lining: Haliburton said he won't rush the recovery and he's rehabbing with Indiana's other prominent injured star, two-time WNBA All-Star Caitlin Clark. She hasn't played since July 15 because of an injured right groin, her third muscle injury this season.

"It sucks she's been hurt as long as she has, but for us to be able to communicate, even with her recovery we lift at the same time so it's like just us two in the weight room," he said. "I wish she was playing, but I think it's good to have each other to lean on right now."

Haliburton has followed the recoveries of Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard and Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, who also suffered Achilles tendon injuries in the playoffs and could miss all of this coming season. Tatum recently called the first six weeks after the injury "probably the toughest six weeks of any point in my life."

At least three Pacers players — Haliburton, Isaiah Jackson and James Wiseman — can empathize. Jackson and Wiseman both injured Achilles tendons early last season, and they hope to be ready for Indiana's season opener on Oct. 23 against defending champ Oklahoma City. So they've been providing advice and encouragement.

"We've kind of got a little bit of an Achilles group in our own locker room," Haliburton said. "It means the world to me because you get tired of complaining to the trainers. You know they're just doing their job, they're doing everything they can. But sometimes being able to talk, complain, to those guys means a lot."

The boxes of letters he has received from well-wishers in Indiana, his home state of Wisconsin, his college home in Iowa and around the nation have helped, too.

So does seeing teammates — old and new. Forward James Johnson flew into town to work the camp. Rookie guards Taelon Peter and Kam Jones were there, too, as was Haliburton's proud and passionate father who was glad-handing and chatting it up with anyone willing to stop.

But perhaps the best medicine for Haliburton was being out in public, spending time with all those smiling kids in their Tyrese Haliburton camp T-shirts.

"A lot of these kids are coming up to me saying 'I was at this game in the playoffs and at that game,'" Haliburton said, smiling ear to ear. "So I think just showing that I'm not, they might think I'm like this mythical being. I know I thought that when I was their age. So it's cool to be here, in front of the kids, hanging out, spending some time with them. I love being around it."

Morgan Wallen's I'm the Problem is a streaming giant. The 37-track album has ruled the Billboard 200 for 11 weeks, produced multiple country radio No. 1s, and even a Hot 100 chart-topper with Tate McRae. But one place it won't show up? The Grammys.

On Tuesday, August 19, Hits Daily Double first reported that 32-year-old "Last Night" singer would not submit his album for Grammy consideration. The following day, his team confirmed the news to Pitchfork. That means even Wallen's co-writes are off the table—though collaborators like McRae, Eric Church, and Post Malone could still enter their own submissions if they choose.

"I don't need a Grammy to prove I'm a superstar—my music speaks for itself," fans echoed after Morgan Wallen revealed he won't submit his 2025 album I'm the Problem for Grammy consideration. Despite record-breaking success—Dangerous crowned Billboard's No. 1 album of the century pic.twitter.com/TJ6XYpwraO

— Senator 🥷 (@omedenicholas1) August 23, 2025

The decision follows a complicated history between Wallen and industry institutions. Despite his streaming dominance, he's largely been shut out of major awards. His only Grammy nominations to date came earlier this year, both tied to Post Malone's F-1 Trillion. He's picked up trophies at the CMAs but famously skipped one ceremony altogether. And while the Recording Academy hasn't given a reason for Wallen's cold streak, his past controversies—including a 2021 racial slur incident and a 2024 arrest for reckless endangerment—haven't gone unnoticed.

Wallen isn't the first big name to step away from the Grammys. In 2021, The Weeknd blasted the Recording Academy after his album After Hours and hit song "Blinding Lights" were shut out, telling The New York Times he would "no longer allow [his] label to submit [his] music to the Grammys." That same year, Drake asked the Academy to withdraw his two nominations from the final ballot—one for Certified Lover Boy and one for "Way 2 Sexy."

Frank Ocean took a similar stance years earlier, declining to submit his 2016 album Blonde altogether. And just last year, Zach Bryan joined the list, reportedly telling Variety he wouldn't submit his work because awards shows make music feel "competitive."

With submissions closing August 29, nominations due November 7, and the ceremony airing February 1, Wallen technically has time to reconsider—though his team has made no indication he will.

Moriel Mizrahi FinderAugust 24, 2025 at 1:57 AM

After keeping her love life under wraps for the past few years, Shailene Woodley was seen out in Paris holding hands with a new man: French actor Lucas Bravo, who plays Gabriel in Emily in Paris. The pair was photographed walking together on March 23.

Woodley's last high-profile relationship was with NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The former couple ended their engagement in 2022. "I haven't shared much about my relationship with Aaron because it always makes me cry," Woodley told Outside magazine in December 2024. "It was not right. But it was beautiful."

Bravo, on the other hand, discussed his breakup from a three-year relationship in September 2024. "It's so much pressure to be the best version of yourself," he told C magazine. "Every gesture is overinterpreted. To stay sane in the industry you need to turn it off, which isn't easy when you're with someone else in the industry."

Woodley and Bravo's love story is seemingly just taking off. Here, their history so far.

March 2025

On March 23, Woodley and Bravo were seen together in Paris, holding hands as they strolled through Saint-Germain-des-Prés. In photos published by multiple outlets, Woodley wore a green sweater, gray pants, and a long black coat. Bravo complemented her in a green sweater paired with a brown bomber jacket and dark yellow beanie.

Woodley and Bravo were affectionate together, with Bravo wrapping his arm around Woodley in some photos. Neither star commented on their relationship status when photos first came out.

April 2025

Bravo confirmed his relationship with Woodley to People during the opening night for Broadway's Good Night, and Good Luck on April 3. "Yeah, I'm really happy," he said of their romance.

On April 30, Bravo closed out the month by going Instagram official with Woodley. He shared photos of them at Stagecoach Festival and exploring Slab City, California. The couple held hands in one shot and posed with musician Sofi Tukker in another.

Woodley liked the Instagram, giving her stamp of approval to the hard launch:

InstagramAugust 2025

On August 4, Woodley was photographed visiting Bravo on the set of Emily in Paris. The actress was seen resting her head on his shoulder, wearing a green baseball cap and sunglasses.

On August 14, Bravo shared a glimpse of a countryside trip with Woodley and friends on Instagram. The post featured several candid moments, including a photo of the actress wrapping her arms around him as they smiled together in the back of a car.

The couple was affectionate throughout the carousel, which also included photos of their group and a dog riding along.

A source told People on August 20 that Bravo "is a breath of fresh air" for Woodley, adding that he is "uncomplicated, kind, not pretentious and emotionally present. Her friends love him."

Woodley is "thriving. It's a whole new vibe."

The source continued, "It's the total opposite of her dynamic with Aaron. She's happy, light and having fun again."

However, the actress "isn't looking to rush anything. She's focused on living in the moment."

- - Hurricane forecasters track 2 systems, expect Fernand to form

Mike Snider and Jennifer Sangalang, USA TODAY NETWORK August 24, 2025 at 2:04 AM

Hurricane forecasters have turned their attention from Erin to other developing tropical systems in the Atlantic, including one that could become Tropical Storm Fernand and may follow a path similar to Erin's.

The National Hurricane Center is tracking two disturbances, Invest AL90 and Invest AL99 − so-called as "invest" is short for "investigation" − in the Atlantic, with the chance of developing into something stronger. The more likely to do so is Invest AL90, which is expected to develop into a tropical depression and intensify into a tropical storm on Sunday, Aug. 24, as it moves northward, the NHC said in an outlook issued at 8 a.m. ET Saturday, Aug. 23.

Also being tracked: four more tropical waves in the Caribbean to the east of Invest AL99, which is also a tropical wave located about 850 miles east of the Windward Islands.

85732690007

Potential tropical storm may impact Bermuda

Forecasters have warned those in Bermuda to monitor the progress of Invest AL90, which is associated with showers and thunderstorms, as it is currently about 500 miles south-southwest of Bermuda, the NHC said. The system has a near 100% chance of formation over the next 48 hours, the NHC said.

The storm could follow a path similar to that of Hurricane Erin, but is expected to turn northward much sooner, which means it could come close to, or directly hit, Bermuda as a hurricane, according to AccuWeather. "This storm is expected to produce several inches of rain, wind gusts of 60-80 mph, rough seas and surf and storm surge of several feet," AccuWeather lead hurricane expert Alex DaSilva said in a forecast.

When the system develops into a tropical storm, it will be named Fernand. An Air Force Reconnaissance aircraft is scheduled to investigate the system on Saturday afternoon, the NHC said.

The National Hurricane Center is tracking two systems in the Atlantic Ocean.

The other disturbance, Invest AL99, made up of disorganized showers and thunderstorms, is located 850 miles east of the Windward Islands. It is expected to bring locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds to parts of the islands, which include Grenada and St. Lucia, but forecasters put its likelihood of development at 20% over the next seven days., the NHC said.

In addition to Invest AL90 and Invest AL99, the National Hurricane Center is tracking four tropical waves in the Atlantic:

A far eastern Atlantic tropical wave is moving across the Cabo Verde Islands moving west.

A central Atlantic tropical wave, located near Invest AL99, is moving west also.

An eastern Caribbean tropical wave near Puerto Rico to western Venezuela is expected to bring some widely scattered showers and an isolated thunderstorm from near the U.S. Virgin Islands to south of the coast of Puerto Rico to the Mona Passage.

A western Caribbean tropical wave near the Gulf of Honduras through Honduras to far northwest Nicaragua into the eastern Pacific Ocean.

Each of the tropical waves are moving west and do not pose a threat at this time. However, experts say to be prepared for hurricane season.

A tropical wave in the Pacific, which is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms several hundred miles south of the coast of southwestern Mexico, is expected to become a tropical depression by early next week, the center said. Forecasters give the system, which is moving west-northwesterward, a 40% chance of formation over the next two days and 70% chance over the next seven days.

What is a tropical wave?

The term "tropical wave" describes atmospheric conditions, according to AccuWeather.com.

Tropical waves are elongated areas, or troughs, of relatively low pressure that move east to west across the tropics, moving westward from Africa into the Atlantic.

A wave can lead to the formation of a tropical cyclone, which in turn may develop into a tropical storm or hurricane, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

How do hurricanes form?

Hurricanes are born in the tropics, above warm water. Clusters of thunderstorms can develop over the ocean when water temperatures exceed 80 degrees Fahrenheit. If conditions are right, the clusters swirl into a storm known as a tropical wave or tropical depression.

A tropical depression becomes a named tropical storm once its sustained wind speeds reaches 39 miles per hour. When its winds reach 74 mph, the storm officially becomes a hurricane.

Prepare now for hurricanes

Delaying potentially life-saving preparations could mean waiting until it's too late. "Get your disaster supplies while the shelves are still stocked, and get that insurance checkup early, as flood insurance requires a 30-day waiting period," NOAA recommends.

Prepare now for hurricanes: Here's what you should do to stay safe before a storm arrives

Develop an evacuation plan: If you are at risk from hurricanes, you need an evacuation plan. Now is the time to begin planning where you would go and how you would get there.

Assemble disaster supplies: Whether you're evacuating or sheltering-in-place, you're going to need supplies not just to get through the storm but for the potentially lengthy aftermath, NOAA said.

Get an insurance checkup and document your possessions: Contact your insurance company or agent now and ask for an insurance check-up to make sure you have enough insurance to repair or even replace your home and/or belongings. Remember, home and renters insurance doesn't cover flooding, so you'll need a separate policy for it. Flood insurance is available through your company, agent, or the National Flood Insurance Program. Act now, as flood insurance requires a 30-day waiting period.

Create a family communication plan: NOAA said to take the time now to write down your hurricane plan, and share it with your family. Determine family meeting places, and make sure to include an out-of-town location in case of evacuation.

Strengthen your home: Now is the time to improve your home's ability to withstand hurricane impacts. Trim trees; install storm shutters, accordion shutters, and/or impact glass; seal outside wall openings.

President Donald Trump kicked off the week meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other European leaders at the White House — just days after Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska — and said he has roughly two weeks to determine how the U.S. will proceed in the ongoing negotiations.

A primary focus of the meetings was discussing various security measures to prevent Russian aggression against Ukraine again, after the Trump administration reported that Putin was on board with permitting the U.S. and its European allies to provide additional protection for Ukraine, akin to protections included in NATO's Article 5 mutual defense clause.

However, Trump said Tuesday that sending U.S. troops to Ukraine to bolster security in the region was off the table.

Meanwhile, Trump told reporters Friday that he'll have a better sense of whether a deal that ends the conflict is feasible and what kind of actions the U.S. should take moving forward on negotiations in the coming weeks.

"We'll see what happens. I think over the next two weeks, we're going to find out which way it's going to go," Trump told reporters Friday.

"It's going to be a very important decision," Trump said. "And that's whether or not it's massive sanctions or massive tariffs, or both. Or do we do nothing and say, 'It's your fight?'"

Here's what also happened this week:

Trump also joined law enforcement and National Guard troops in Washington Thursday evening amid his administration's federal takeover of the city and efforts to crackdown on crime.

"We've had some incredible results and results have come out and it's like a different place," Trump told the police and National Guard troops Thursday. "It's like a different city."

Vice President JD Vance visited National Guard troops in Washington's Union Station Wednesday.

"We are seeing really substantial effects because these guys are busting their a--," Vance said Wednesday.

"Right here in Union Station, you have vagrants, you have drug addicts, you have the chronically homeless, you have the mentally ill who harass, who threatened violence, who attacked families," Vance said. "And they've done it for far too long. This should be a monument to American greatness."

Trump initially mobilized 800 D.C. National Guard troops as part of his effort to reduce crime in Washington on Aug. 11. Since then, National Guard troops from Ohio, West Virginia, South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee also have been tapped to support the Trump administration's effort.

Trump also unveiled plans with FIFA President Gianni Infantino at the Oval Office Friday to hold the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw at the Kennedy Center Dec. 5. During the event, FIFA will divyy up all the teams into 12 different groups.

Trump Announces Kennedy As Fifa World Cup Draw Venue

"On Dec. 5 of this year, the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw will take place at the Kennedy Center. Some people refer to it as the Trump-Kennedy Center, but we're not prepared to do that quite yet – maybe in a week or so," Trump said.

"But right here in Washington, D.C., it's a tremendous honor to bring the global event and this incredible group of people and these unbelievable athletes — the best athletes in the world — to the cultural center of our nation's capital," Trump said.

U.S. Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas ©U.S.. House

(The Center Square) – Four Republicans so far are running for Texas attorney general.

U.S. Chip Roy is the latest to announce he's running for AG, joining state Sens. Joan Huffman and Mayes Middleton, and Aaron Reitz, a former Texas deputy attorney general.

They are vying to replace Attorney General Ken Paxton who is challenging incumbent U.S. Sen. John Cornyn.

Middleton, a Republican from Galveston, first announced his bid in April. He's the only candidate with no prosecutorial experience. President of Middleton Oil Company, he also runs ranching, cattle, and farming operations. Middleton has served in both the Texas House and Senate and consistently ranks as among the most conservative members. He has championed a partial ban on taxpayer-funded lobbying, advocated for parental rights and school choice, authored bills to protect women's and girls' sports, bathrooms and locker rooms, and a ban on COVID vaccine mandates, among other legislation. He's rejected a state pension and taxpayer-funded healthcare and donates his entire state salary to local charities.

Huffman is running to become the first female attorney general of Texas. A former Harris County prosecutor and Criminal District Court judge, Huffman is the only three-time recipient of the Texas District and County Attorneys Association's Law and Order Award. In the Texas Senate, she's authored numerous bills to strengthen the criminal justice system and bring transparency and accountability to the judiciary.

Huffman led the charge against the defund the police movement by authoring a new law, "Back the Blue Act," which penalizes cities and counties that defund law enforcement. She authored critical bail reform legislation, leading a bipartisan movement in response to judges releasing violent criminals onto the streets only to keep committing violent crime. She authored new laws to enable the removal of prosecutors who refuse to enforce the law, to increase penalties for violent crimes, including for fentanyl trafficking involving murder, and several measures to protect victims, including human trafficking victims.

Reitz served in the AG's office during the impeachment of Paxton, the only attorney general to be impeached in Texas history. Paxton was impeached by 60 House Republicans on 20 charges, including bribery. The Texas Senate acquitted him along party lines. During the impeachment trial, longtime Texas Ranger David Maxwell alleged female employes made sexual harassment complaints against Reitz. After the trial, additional lawsuits were filed by Paxton's top deputies against each other alleging sexual harassment, falsifying documents and witness tampering, multiple news outlets reported.

Reitz next worked for U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz while being called to testify in a federal bribery and extortion probe into Paxton. He then worked for the Trump Justice Department for three months.

More recently, Reitz came under fire for posting what appeared to be photo ops in Kerrville after the devastating Hill Country floods. Other criticism includes deleting more than 4,000 controversial tweets, including supporting arranged marriages, CBS News first reported.

Reitz, who ran for the Texas House District 47 seat in 2020 and lost, says he "embodies the Texas values of courage, perseverance, and a refusal to bend the knee" and will "defend law and order" and "fight woke ideology."

Roy announced his AG bid on Thursday, roughly eight months after President Donald Trump encouraged Republicans to primary him. As Roy opposed increasing the national debt and spending, Trump called him, "The very unpopular 'Congressman' from Texas," saying he was "getting in the way, as usual, of having yet another Great Republican Victory – All for the sake of some cheap publicity for himself. Republican obstructionists have to be done away with," multiple news outlets reported.

Roy says he delivered on Trump's agenda and wanted to take his experience in Congress, as a federal prosecutor and a former First Assistant AG of Texas to "fight for Texas from Texas."

Roy previously worked under Paxton and for Cruz, was senior counsel to former Gov. Rick Perry, served as counsel on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee and was the Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Texas. Serving four terms in Congress, Roy fought to reduce the size of government, reduce taxes, reduce government waste, fraud and abuse, strengthen border security, target foreign threats coming from cartels and the Chinese Communist Party, secure U.S. elections among other intiatives.

As attorney general, he says he'll go after "Soros-funded judges and DA's putting criminals on the streets," as well as judicial mandates "that Texans pay for illegals in our public schools."

It is unclear how Roy would do this in light of the Texas Constitution's separation of powers. The Texas Constitution states that only the legislature and Texas Supreme Court can remove judges under specific circumstances. The Texas Constitution also requires that a free public education be provided to all children in Texas regardless of nationality.

The Republican primary election is March 3, 2026.
